Popular Post Joe Dubz
Another year, another UR Challenge and YOU KNOW I'M IN!! When you have hosts as awesome as @Copanele & @Arcesius (can't forget about @Mori too ?), how could I say no??! I'm hoping to have a better year this go around. I was dealing with alot of shit last year, including the death of my younger brother, so I just wasn't feeling the UR hunting quite like I did previously. I think I only completed 3 or 4 UR games last year total (not counting rarity, it was 6 plats altogether ?), so I'm aiming to make this year a much better one!! Still been working my way through Crypt of the Necrodancer of course, but took a bit of a hiatus the last month or so, as I often do with hard games at year's end. I'll def be working on that throughout the course of the year. Also started playing Earth Defense Force: Iron Rain with my boiiiiiiii @Fleks_Mhteam! So that will def go on the list. I see a few of those bounties this quarter are partially completed on my account, so might as well add those in too! Without further ado, here's my Tier 1 list: Crypt of the Necrodancer (0.06%;0.05%) 74% Earth Defense Force: Iron Rain (2.03%) 11% Nex Machina (3.66%) 23% Void Bastards (2.85%) 41% game 5 TBD Alrighty then, looking forward to another year of crushing these URs with all of you very fine and skilled peeps! Popular Post MD_91
Last 2 games done to finish Tier 1 1. Ark: Survival Evolved (4.73%) 2. Fifa 23 PS4 (2.19%) 3. Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime (3.53%) 4. Puppeteer (4.29%) 5. Superhot (4.86%) Still had my save for Puppeteer from when I first played it 9 years ago but had to do a fully guided playthrough anyway because some of the collectables aren't tracked in game so I didn't know which ones I was missing, fun game with nothing really difficult to do just getting all the collectables and triggering specific actions was a bit of a chore. Been meaning to play Superhot for a while and I'm glad I finally got around to it as I enjoyed it a lot, a couple of the speedruns frustrated me but apart from that it wasn't as tough as I was expecting, the no death run took me 3 hours but that was just because I kept making stupid mistakes rather than it being hard to do. Didn't think I would have a tier already finished a couple weeks into the year but the next tier will take at least a couple of months with what I'm planning to play for it
Popular Post Arcesius
13 hours ago, Joe Dubz said: Alrighty then, looking forward to another year of crushing these URs with all of you very fine and skilled peeps! Cheers and LET'S GOOOOOOOOO ? When you are dealing with a situation as fucked up as you were, gaming has no priority at all. Glad to hear that you are back at it though, hopefully this will be a better year for you! I finished my first game of the year! After fucking up my last remaining run in Neon White on level 83/96 due to being tired and playing like an idiot, and having the game crash on level 40/96 yesterday, I decided to show it the middle finger and return to Tricky Towers instead. Tricky Towers This is a fun little "puzzle" game that kinda takes the concept of Tetris and gives it a new twist. Your are using blocks shaped like the original Tetris stones, but instead of clearing lines in a confined space, your goal is to build towers. There are three gamemodes: Race: You need to build fast and get to the finish line before your opponent. The tower needs to stand for at least three seconds after reaching the finish line, so you cannot simply drop stones and hope for the best once you are almost there. Survival: You have three hearts and need to build a tower with a given number of bricks. If you drop a stone, you lose a heart! Puzzle: There is a red laser that you cannot touch, so your goal is to build a structure with as many bricks as possible while staying below the laser: So, there are some weird looking blocks in those screenshots, right? That's because to make things more chaotic and fun, the game also introduces white and black spells for you to use! Black spells are used against other players (or in single player against you by the AI); bricks can get huge, or fall faster, or cannot be rotated, or are covered in ice and slippery.... White spells are beneficial to the user; turn a brick into a immovable stone platform, tie blocks together using an ivy plant, delete the last placed brick, etc... Now, the game features an online and a single player mode. I got all online trophies with @Mori and @Koro249, but you can almost always find a lobby to join, just not necessarily for a specific game mode / difficulty combination of your choice. The single player features 50 Trials across all game modes and difficulties, and some need to be completed meeting specific requirements for a misc trophy. The hardest trials were 48 (Race) due to the black magic spells and time limit, and Trial 50 without losing a single heart. Otherwise, there is also Endless mode that needs to be played for two of the harder trophies: Place 99 Bricks in Endless Puzzle and place 99 Bricks in Endless Survival without losing a single heart. Especially the last challenge was quite RNG-dependent since the Black Magic spells are random and can be harder or easier to deal with depending on your luck. Overall a fun experience that can be quite fun to play in short bursts. Not too challenging but no walk in the park either, even though some of the challenges might sound pretty difficult when you are just starting out. And now, let's see if Neon White cooperates tonight and I can finish that one as well... Edited January 18, 2023 by Arcesius
Popular Post ScintillaWolf
How I've never spotted this UR thread until now is beyond me ?. I wish I had of at least noticed two weeks ago, I would have already had Driver: San Francisco and Killzone Mercenary to get me well underway in Tier 1 ?. Regardless, I would like to get involved, and hoping to get 5 of these 6 done to complete the first tier! Popular Post CorporalBowser
First off, great work everyone on your accomplishments; there's lots of great stuff happening, for sure. Rebel Galaxy is a great time if you are into naval combat (torpedo) rather than dogfights. The visuals are decent for a lower-budget game and the number of ships and upgrades are impressive. The story isn't much to write home about, but some of the characters are rather fun. The grind at the end isn't terrible, but depending on your luck, the "20 pirate lords" trophy can be a pain or it can go smoothly. Other than the online mode (boostable), the only difficult trophy is Mission Specialist - complete all 20 Missions in Mission mode. These missions were quite tricky and involved defeating various opponents under certain rules (no specials, no regular attacks, timeout, hyper buffed bosses etc.) The true headache was grinding "500 of each". 500 special moves, 500 EX Special moves, 500 Pandora activations...this took forever. It's not the grindiest game out there, heck it's not even the grindiest Capcom game (SF4 and SF5 are way worse) but it still took quite a while... Oh well, at least I am done with ANOTHER PS3 game. Popular Post CorporalBowser
"Shmups" have always been a favorite genre of mine, and the Raiden series is one of the better examples out there. Compared to the ridiculous Raiden IV, the trophy list for V is incredibly reasonable, with the biggest difficulty hurdles being the 1CC run and completing the first stage on Very Hard without being hit. Thankfully, you can restart to the previous stage checkpoint if things go south. Rounding out the list are some end-game grinds which are made even more frustrating because there is no way of tracking your progress, so you kind of just have to grit your teeth and hope your progress is being counted. If anyone decides to go for this game, keep a couple things in mind: Review the trophy list before starting and make special note of the requirements stated in the trophy description. Make sure you are playing the correct difficulty that you need, as well as the correct mode. Mute the dialog, if you can. Seriously. The dialog is so dumb to begin with, but when you have to hear it over...and over...and over...and over...and over...and over...again, you'll start to have nightmares about it in your sleep. Not since Barry pointed out Jill's ability to unlock things have I heard such cringe dialog...and at least that example has charm and nostalgia going for it...this not so much. Popular Post Arcesius
Second game completed! Neon White For me, this game came out of nowhere... and holy shit if this wasn't the most fun I've had with a game in a while! Neon White is a speedrunning-focused first-person puzzle platformer. Basically, you have maps with fixed immovable enemies and your goal is to reach the finish line and kill all enemies, and that as quickly as possible. Now, the "puzzle" part is very interesting here. You start the level with a sword, and can pick-up weapon cards (they are fixed) that do two things: You can either shoot with that weapon (you have limited ammo), or you can discard the card, losing the gun, but gaining one movement ability. For example... If you pick up the regular gun, you have 7 shots available. If you discard it, you gain a second jump mid-air and lose the gun. If you pick up the shotgun, it comes with four shots (with spreading bullets, of course), and you can discard the gun to propel yourself in the direction you are facing, killing everything you touch. The game thus becomes a game of figuring out the fastest path through the level, when to shoot enemies and when to discard your cards to gain a movement advantage. The story is delivered in a anime-style visual novel fashion, which I don't usually care too much about. But it is used here for pacing, as to not have the player burn out from all the speedrunning... The game features 96 levels after all, it's no short game for sure! The story is also very over the top, but it fits the general style of the game. It tells some real truths, too! ? As for trophies... The game is very straightforward. You need to beat the entire game while earning an Ace medal (medal system: Bronze - Silver - Gold - Ace - Developer Time) in every single level. You also need to find a collectible in ~93/97 levels. The genious part is that neither the Ace medals nor the collectibles require any sort of guide.. The game itself is very good at communicating to the player how to improve. You can race against your own ghost once you have earned a silver medal, and the game will hint at an intended shortcut in every level once you earned at least gold. So the game itself is teaching you how to get faster and faster times. It's genious. The collectibles are also very visible most of the time, just require you to figure out how to get to them using the cards available to you. They are used so that you slow down for a moment instead of getting to the finish line as quickly as possible, and get a new perspective on the map, giving you new ideas on how to improve your time. Then there are the five heaven & hell rushes. There are three such rushes that are 8 levels each and can thus be completed in 4-5 minutes, and then there are two rushes that are 97 levels each and take 70 - 90 minutes to complete. Heaven gives you as many retries per map as you want and regenerates your health from level to level (you have 3 Hit points), while in Hell you cannot die or you need to start from the beginning, and your health is carried over to the next level. There are only around 6/97 levels that offer a health pick up, so you really need to play with caution. And that's where my enjoyment with the game starting to take a veeeeery small hit. Not because it wasn't fun, but because I have such limited gaming time, that I would often need to put my PS5 in rest mode in the middle of an attempt just to continue the next day and fuck the run up immediately ? I think having such long runs is a bit excessive. I understand why they are in the game, and it's a good challenge for sure! But it wasn't really compatible with my own gaming habits / possibilities. Nonetheless, I still think this is one hell of a game, and that from the guy that developed The Unfinished Swan, What Remains of Edith Finch or Donut Country... Neon White is such a strong contrast to those other titles, keeping you on your toes at all times. I loved it. I really did. Popular Post Walt the Dog
Mugen Souls (EN): 100% Most of what I have to say is in that post up above. Thank fucking goodness this monster is done so I don't have "get the Mugen Souls plat" as a New Year's Resolution again until at least my attempts on the Japanese and Korean versions. In any case, not sure how much I'm gonna end up sticking to my Tier 1 aside from this since not only do I have other plans for the moment, but also some of those plans involve some EZPZ UR 100%s I've found (mostly Jackbox stuff and a fitness game with two versions), so I'll likely end up just doing those instead of any of the other games I elected apart from probably Jackbox Party Pack 2 (PS3).

Popular Post Baker
TIER 1 1. Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time 2. Devil May Cry 5 3. Hard Reset Redux 4. OlliOlli World +100%5. Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus Second game done: Hard Reset Redux This is one of my backlog games as I played this game a year ago. So I’m pleased I’ve finally found some motivation to finish it. HRR is a FPS by the makers of Shadow Warrior and has a near identical trophy list. It plays in the style of DOOM where you aim with the analog sticks and shoot with R2. You have health and armor pickups to replenish it. Another Heroic difficulty playthrough was required where once again there are no checkpoints and you can’t save in a level. For me this game was much harder than SW. Much closer combat, you can’t heal yourself apart from pickups which is easy to accidentally dash through when you don’t need it, one hour levels where you fight a difficult boss in the end, constant surprise attacks, environmental damage that can one shot you, the list goes on.. In fact I played this game on Easy difficulty on my second account to learn enemy spawns and the best strategies to tackle the encounters. Playing blind on Heroic is a death sentence. One level on my second account on Easy, and then straight to Heroic on my main account. The game was pretty fun. If you like FPS games, give it a go. Popular Post Walt the Dog
Pure Chess (PS4): 100% (https://psnprofiles.com/trophies/2537-pure-chess/Wdog-999) First up in my EZPZ UR binge is a game that I've wanted to get to for a bit. Had the PS3 and Vita versions done back in 2019, but the PS4 version eluded me for a while since it isn't cross-buy like the PS3 and Vita versions and moreover, it was fairly expensive considering my intentions with it. Thankfully, it went on sale for $7 during the Holiday sale and I was able to snag it then. In any case, this is a fairly easy game considering there are solutions for all of the Mate in X challenges and you can have a chess AI do all of the actual chess playing for you. There's ostensibly a rather large grind to get to Grandmaster rank, but you can thankfully just spam draws for most of it and then fill in the rest with the last two tournaments (can't start earning points until the first match of the second tournament is over for some reason) and several exhibition matches against the Grandmaster AI.

Popular Post ExistentialSolid
Tier 1 - Complete!Ziggurat (2.55%): Me and roguelikes go together about as well as water and oil, but Ziggurat proves that the right gimmick can occasionally bridge the gap between my fickle preferences. This wizarding doom-inspired-FPS-roguelike shoves you into room after room of orcs, flying skulls, and really mean carrots as you try to escape the "Ziggurat." The difficulty is well-balanced and the trophies extend the life of the game without drowning you in tedium. You can play on easy throughout most of the game, save at any time, and even upload that save to the cloud if you're having a great run and don't want to risk losing your progress (considering runs often last 45+ minutes, you might want to do so at least once per run!). Consider checking it out! Brawlout (1.15%): Remember back when the trophy guide for this game had a several hundred hour completion estimate (no? ...just me)? Well, lucky for us, a new exp grinding trick cuts down on the previous estimate considerably provided your game doesn't crash and your trophies don't glitch out. There's a little bit of challenge in climbing the three Arcade Towers (Chief Feathers all the way), but save-scumming saves the day if you're experienced in Smash (or other smash clones) and just looking for a quick and easy UR plat. I can't in good conscience recommend the game to anyone other than die-hard Smash enthusiasts or players trying to bump up their UR count, but, hey, at least the game wasn't miserable! Assault Suit Leynos (3.45%): I had low expectations going into Assault Suit Leynos given its subpar aesthetic, middling reviews, and its ties to a relatively obscure Sega Genesis game, but I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed myself! The run-and-gun action sent me back to the days of Metal Slug and Contra except there's a little less resistance this time around. Stages never overstayed their welcome and bosses were simple, but exciting. Most of the game's trophies involve you completing miscellaneous tasks on each level and aren't especially difficult, so you can just chill out, enjoy the ride, and relive some old-school game design. There's one trophy that proved to be a nightmare, however... "Old Tricks." I spent around two hours replaying stage 1 over and over trying to avoid killing any enemies (you're only allowed to kill the level's boss), but if you so much as breathe in the wrong direction you'll find yourself mashing through the title screen theatrics in an attempt to restart. JumpJet Rex (1.24%): Why is no one talking about this game? Sure, the cover might give you the impression that you're about to play a children's learning game or some trophy-spilling shovelware, but there's a legitimately great game buried in here! JumpJet Rex takes those one-off "jet pack levels" from days of old in its tiny little arms and makes an entire experience out of it. Levels consist of bite-sized labyrinths littered with lasers, robots, spike-covered walls, and old-school secrets. If you're looking for a challenge, you'll be pleased to know every level features rewards for deathless clears and lightning-quick times (complete with leaderboards). If you happen to be browsing the trophy list and get hung up over the words "RageQuit Rex", it's a mode that tasks you with clearing the entire game with 3 lives. Don't let that scare you away though because you can save your game, play on easy mode (extra hit point), and, if all else fails, upload your save to the cloud. If you've been tempted to test the waters with difficult platformers, JumpJet Rex is a great place to start! Torment: Tides of Numenera (1.84%): So, uh... there's an incredible guide on TrueAchievements that meticulously outlines every single decision you'll make in this game from the moment you hit the title screen until the credits roll. Everything from dialogue options and looting locations to step-by-step battle instructions and equipment loadouts, it's all there and it's incredibly accurate. All that was asked of me was to set aside my sense of agency and let the guide's author escort me to an effortless completion. If you want, you can mash through all the dialogue and finish in about 15 hours, but I chose to read it all and ended up at around 40. I'll likely write an extended review somewhere else because the writing was phenomenal and I really want to talk about it (think games like Divinity: Original Sin or Disco Elysium). Seriously, every paragraph left me feeling jealous. ? Time to kick things up a notch! Here's my 2nd tier! Popular Post Walt the Dog
What the Dub?!: 100% (https://psnprofiles.com/trophies/12532-what-the-dub/Wdog-999) Pretty easy Jackbox-esque game where the game plays a film clip with a line missing and everyone has to fill in a new line to replace it, which is then implemented into the scene via TTS. Only real annoyance is having to get 18 sessions open for the Max Audience trophy (max game size is 6, max audience size is 12). While there's a 70 game grind, it's incredibly simple since you can just play rounds by yourself, allowing you to literally just play the game on your phone and not even pay attention to the TV at all once you get all the other trophies done. Also considering I have heavy doubts this will remain UR for very long given it's a 2.5-3 hour plat and it's one achiever away from VR status (was two away before I got the plat), I'll go ahead and post the rarity as it stands now. Ended up blitzing through this in little over 4 and a half hours when I expected this to be a two-day plat on account of me starting late at night. Went a bit slow at first, but once I found out about the modifiers (thanks, TA solution for the Comeback Kid trophy 🫡), burning through the rest of the matches became a cinch since I could basically ignore all of the game's mechanics in favor of just jumping everywhere. Almost a shame the EU version is unlikely to ever enter the UR realm or I'd be tempted to go for double plat knowing what I know now. In any case, one game left until Tier 1 is over and I'm not sure if I want it to be Jackbox Party Pack 2 to at least end on one of the other things I said I'd do this tier or if I'll just load up yet another 3-4 hour game tomorrow to get it over with. Certainly enjoying getting through my backlog of EZPZ UR that I've neglected for a while. Popular Post OzaXD
#1 Super Meat Boy Forever Difficulty: 9/10 Enjoyment: 4/10 Super Meat Boy Forever is an auto-running preicision platformer. The controls are extremely simple requiring only 2 buttons, to jump / punch and to slide / fast fall. The games contains 6 worlds, 5 featuring a light and dark variant as well as bonus world "0xDEADBEEF" totalling 11. Each world is broken up into 6 stages each which contain 6-8 randomly generated chunks which are decided by a world seed. Each stage in each world contains a unique gimmick with minimal crossover while 0xDEADBEEF strings all gimmicks into one longer stage. The biggest challenge consisted of beating each world deathless similar to the original Super Meat Boy. I don't really know where to begin with this game... It received A LOT of hate when it released from reviewers as well as the UR community, mainly due to the fact it didn't live up to it's predecessor which is loved by all. While personally I agree the first game is far better I do think it's unfair to compare the two as they play completely different even if this is another "meat boy" game. First of all i'll begin with my enjoyment of the game. While everyone who seems to have platinumed this (excluding the most positive guy on this platform... @Joe Dubz) speaks VERY poorly of their experience with the game I can personally say I didn't hate it??? Although I'm still unsure if it was fact it was so challenging that that lead to this enjoyment. The biggest gripe I had as others have mentioned is how every chunk seems to blend together after awhile. I was quite impressed with what was capable with such a limited controls but by the time I finished my first casual clear I felt like I was already seeing A LOT of repetitveness. The game contains 6000 unique "chunks" for "infinite replayability" which is cool and all but at the end of the day you can only jump dash, slide and dive, this leads to very poor and bland level design. This design choice then leads to the "seed system" which I think is a huge reason why a lot of early achievers of the game grew to despise the game. Each player had to learn by themself on their own lonely seed of boring level design. This also meant they had to sink even more time into learning each specific chunk themself while constantly thinking about if they had just "rolled a bad seed" if they began struggling on a world. For example look at SMB forums, there's a thread with just under 900 posts at this current time which each page containing members giving advice for multiple worlds or complaining about "that one level" that makes you miserable, you're never alone in the challenge and it helps motivate you to get better or learn from others mistakes. Before starting the game I was in contact with @Arcesius and ended up taking his exact route to the platinum as he had already spent a lot of time prior researching and discovering great seeds. With his videos I immediately had a route to go off cutting back on HEAPS of learning time, which I would either adapt or copy his line. This reason alone I believe made a huge impact on my enjoyment for the game, I can't imagine having to spend another 5+ hours per world just learning timings or a route to use. I truely believe the game could of been a lot better if the random seed system was ditched and the developer focused soley on great level design for each stage as some chunks were actually quite fun to do when designed well but the majority were utter trash or the exact same thing you did 30s ago trying to be "unique". I also found the game extremely mentally draining to play, I'm not sure if it's due to the auto-running aspect or the precision needed in order to clear certain chunks but I had never really felt mentally drained from playing a game before. This led to me having to play in shorter sessions or my skill would instantly diminish to garbage and I'd chain die on the first stage when attempting deathless runs. Now for the difficulty, I found the scaling in this game to be quite odd, for example in the original meat boy the dark varient of the world would maybe be a few light worlds ahead in difficulty but in SMBF the very first dark world was MILES ahead of the last light world. Going into the game I didn't know this, after clearing all light worlds with little to no struggle I was quite confident which immediately led to despair when I began chipper dark. I still personally believe that step up in difficulty was the hardest part of the platinum journey by far due to the skill difference required. The strange thing about this game is the difficulty between dark worlds doesn't really increase, it's the difficulty of the worlds "gimmicks" that set each apart. My personal tier list for dark world diffiuclty from hardest to easiest is as follows: The Lab > The Clinic > The Other Side > Tetanus City > Chipper Grove. All in all I didn't hate my time spent with the game, but I didn't love it either, it was aite, and I got a cool milestone next to my other meatboy milestone... HUGE shoutout to @Arcesius who provided a lot of help and advice for the game as well as the videos I used to learn from, it really made the entire proccess FAR more enjoyable. Probably start Skullgirls next once I clear up some more casual games I'm playing at the moment. Tier 1: Spoiler 1. Super Meat Boy Forever - 100% 2. Nova-111 - 0% 3. Chariot - 0% 4. Wuppo - 50% 5. Skullgirls 2nd Encore - 0%

Popular Post VirtualNight
Cleared Don't Starve: Difficulty: 6.5/10 Fun: 6/10 This one is a survival indie where you take care of your hunger and mental sanity while dealing with a randomly generated world filled with resources, animals and monsters. The hard part is to clear the Adventure mode, since you can not manipulate the amount of resources/monsters and the game has a very punishing RNG, therefore you are going to massively abuse of the save scum strategy to correct the bad luck and find a different solution. The mode itself is composed of 5 chapters/worlds, but the first 3 can easily take 3h or more each, and also if the 3rd world happens in a specific chapter then you are locked from one trophy and have to start over, surprisingly this wasn't the case for me so 1 run was enough. Cleared games: Far Cry 2 FantaVision Deus Ex Mankind Divided Don't Starve Remaining games: Dreadnought
