Popular Post grbolivar
I applaud the new Guides features, but please, also keep the Trophy Tips that the site originally had. Some of the reasons I consider to keep the tips: - Some people may not want to read a full guide on how to get a trophy but maybe some quick tips and advices, the tip system was perfect for this. - Tips could be provided by any user, I myself could leave a quick useful tips for some trophies, but now seems I need to write a full Guide for that? Not so convenient. - Tips are quick to read and absorbe, not so intrusive, now look at this "guide" e.g.: https://psnprofiles.com/trophy/536-MEGA-MAN-10/12-MR-PERFECT The quick, short tips that this trophy had just dissapeared.

BlindMango
It would be cool to integrate user tips under the guide tip when you click on that trophies name - almost like .org has to where users can add comments under each official guide tip Also (URL not allowed) has some familiar-looking cards! lol

Memnoch
Blind mango is correct. Once a guide is live, all tips are removed. To be honest all guides should be as usefull if not more usefull than the tips. Each trophy will still have its own part where only the guide information for that trophy is displayed. I believe tips were high maintenance, so bad tips took ages to be removed, etc as it was essentially only Sly who could do that part. Which is why guides have certain formats to follow. YTPerfectParadox
Didnt really know they were going but it saddens me to learn of this. i always follow guides primarily on another website but i liked having quick tips, it was a great alternative to when you cant find a good guide and whatnot. DrBloodmoney
If this is the plan - to remove all tips once a guide is approved - can I make a suggestion that a guide must be COMPLETE ie, cover all DLC as well as the main game before it is approved? Otherwise tips will be removed without being replaced in the guide. In fact this is a gripe on most other guide sites that could be corrected here, since the guide function is new - it is incredibly irritating to have multiple guides for the same game - for main game and then individual guides for DLC - the approved guide should be removed when a new DLC is relased unless it is updated within a certain time frame (say a week or two weeks?) Popular Post ExHaseo
I agree with the OP. I think Tips should be retained. One of the reasons I like trophy tips is because I don't have to hunt through a guide to find what I'm looking for. There's always the possibility that whoever wrote the guide missed something, or that someone else could have a more effective way of obtaining a trophy. Without trophy tips, they can't share their knowledge though. Trophy tips also sometimes build on each other and make some trophies easier to get. A good example is the Veteran trophy in Mass Effect .3 https://psnprofiles.com/trophy/1292-Mass-Effect-3/31-Veteran One person put up the tip about the tutorial mission, another mentioned that if you have the Citadel DLC, you can do it a different way, and then another person built upon the tip about the tutorial mission and created a quicker method to obtain kills for the trophy. If trophy tips are completely replaced, this won't happen. Had the person who left the first tip made the guide, we never would have gotten the other methods, and it would have ended up costing a lot of people a lot more time, myself included. The guides are a great addition to the site, and I hope they get utilized, but trophy tips are very helpful in a different way and I think them being taken out is going to take away from the overall knowledge base on the site, as well as a sense of community that comes from the trophy tips. Since anyone can post them, and it's like we're all just helping each other out and when we post a tip, we feel like we're contributing. That's definitely not the case with guides. It's just one person who spent the time to write a guide. Plus, there's no guarantee that the guide will be complete or be the most effective guide possible. Whoever looks at a guide and approves it may not have ever played that game, or may not know it that well, so the guide could be missing information or even have misinformation. A random person could come along and notice it, but since they can't contribute, it just goes by the wayside and there's forever an incomplete guide. You can comment on the guide, but very few people will be looking through the comments of a guide. Especially if the guide is for a game over a year old and the comments are flooded with thank yous. closertim
I think the tips are still there even if there is a guide. Just click on the trophy within the guide and it should take you to the earliest platinum and latest platinum screen, where the tips are there also. Sly Ripper
I've just fixed it so that if there's no content for a trophy in a guide then the old tips are shown. Guides will replace tips, most tips are of low quality since they're not checked before being added.

Popular Post Lion-Lhasa
Well, its really sad to see Tips disappear, all that community knowledge gone and replaced by the view of only one author? I myself was a heavy Tip contributor (whenever I could), but I don't see myself writing a full guide for a game... Have to agree with this, and the post of ExHaseo. It'll be a bad thing to see the opinions or tips of only the author. Some people might think some of the current tips are of low quality but that same tip might be incredibly helpful to another person. The reason I stuck with this site (aside from clean/easy navigation) was because of the tips. If the tips are removed which I assume is the ultimate goal, the site will basically become ps3trophies and I will have to revert back to looking for multiple guides around the internet just to look for other tips.
Popular Post effdeegee
My vote would be for the tips to stay. If my tips are to be removed when a guide is made, I hope the author copies my tip because I never leave a tip unless one is necessary and it's usually pretty detailed. It seems like a huge waste to delete all of the valuable information previously given simply because one person wrote a full guide. I've found that most games only need tips for a few difficult trophies and you can tell which ones they are because the trophy list will be all blanks and then one trophy will have 5 or 6 tips. Seems sad to delete those 5 or 6 well thought out tips simply because a single person chose to write descriptions for the other 40 brainless trophies. I've always thought it would be better to have a few choices like: 1. The tips stay for the individual trophies. 2. A guide that is made up of all of the tips, ie. A "Tip Guide" and 3. The actual collection of fully written trophy guides.
Arkthur
Tips shall only stay on games that don't have guides This. If a guide is good enough to be approved, I don't see why the tips should remain. it's redundant imo.
DrBloodmoney
This. If a guide is good enough to be approved, I don't see why the tips should remain. it's redundant imo. If this were true then there would not be a need for the star rating system on guides - if a guide is good enough to be approved, why can it be rated as good or bad by the community? Answer - the approvers are fallible - a guide may seem good, but only after it gets chipped away at by a bunch of users do the cracks/faults/omittions start to show. Seems a bad idea to remove all the tips immediately, only to be replaced with a guide that could later be rated 1-star by users...
Memnoch
Pretty sure that's the point of multiple guides, although I can see this being a circular argument, so I'm not going near it with a barge pole
Popular Post kitthirteen
I agree with most everyone else who said they prefer trophy tips. I never read through a full guide for a game; I'd rather experience the story on my own. Once in a while if I get stuck I'll google the specific spot I'm stuck in, but otherwise I don't read guides. I do however use the Trophy Tips feature here a lot when I go back through a game trophy hunting. Obviously they're not all verified as thoroughly, but that's why they have the "Like" option--if you use one and it's good you can vote for it. Also like others said, there are many different ways to get some trophies, and having multiple Tips is not at all a bad thing.

Chenardizzle
I like the addition of guides... but sometimes I only need a tip for a specific trophy. That's why I started coming here instead of Playstationtrophies.com. I sometimes have tips that I can provide for certain trophies, but am far from writing a guide for the full game.
Mog
I wish they'd add a spoiler tag or something to hide those huge videos in the guides. Just a nitpick. Oh and yeah, i wish the tips would stay, sure some (or most of them) are shitty but there are good ones out there.
Arkthur
I don't understand why people keep saying they don't want to read a whole guide if they only need help with one trophy. You don't have to read the whole guide, just search for the portion of the guide you need and thats all. There might be some valid point to keep the tips in here, but in my opinion, that it's not one of them.
