[Video] Syphon Filter 3 platinum in less than 10 minutes (No longer works)

THIS METHOD NO LONGER WORKS DUE TO A RECENT PATCH.  

 

I worked on a complete game video guide for this game yesterday, showing how to complete each level, as I assumed cheats wouldn't work again. However, I noticed some quick platinums for this game and managed to work out how people were doing this. 

 

There are 20 trophies in total required to unlock the platinum. You must complete the 19 story levels, earning 1 trophy for each. You also need to defeat 1 enemy with a knife to get the platinum. You can do all this in less than 10 minutes using cheats. This is what this post will focus on.

Anyway, using cheat codes to earn the Platinum trophy is very simple. This should work on the PAL and NTSC versions of the game. 

 

1. From the main menu, start a mini-game; I used the pre-selected level. 

2. Once the mini-game has loaded, pause the game (right side of the touchpad) 

3. Hover over the map and Hold (NOT PRESS) Right+L2+R2+Square+X+Circle - You will know if this worked as a sound will play

4. Now go to Options - Cheat - End Level. Confirm this and save the settings. 

5. Start a new one-player game, pause the game (right side of the touchpad) 

6. Go to Options - Cheat - End Level. You will earn your first trophy, and the game will ask if you want to save. You do not need to save. 
7. Repeat this step for every level until Aztec Ruin - > Go to Options - Cheat - End Level

8. At the start of Aztech Ruin, Swap to a Knife (left side of the touchpad) and defeat the enemy in front of you. You will earn the only non-story related trophy. Knife to Meet You

9. Repeat this step until the end of the game - > Go to Options - Cheat - End Level

 

Video guide for evidence/in case the above isn't clear enough. If it does get patched, then please leave a reply, so people know. 

 

 

Full game without cheats guide below:

I uploaded my full game playthrough if anyone needs a full game walkthrough. To earn the trophies without cheats, you need to complete every level. It's not too complicated but will take 3-8 hours to complete. So a lot longer than the previous method.

Just logged on and the game has an update file - while I’m not going for this method, after seeing the update file I’d say testing is necessary to confirm it still works after the latest patch for future informations sake

Nothing wrong with this method, but why even bother with the game at this point?

 

The trophy list was already as basic as it gets, just beat the game. You even have a rewind feature to fall back on if needed. Not trying to be critical, I just don't understand the mindset.

Me neither. Though I somewhat wish I did use the exploit after having done it legit. This game is the "kingdom of the crystal skill" of the saga.

Honestly, I agree. I played the full game on the PS5 version. PS Plus Premium is my first time playing these games, and I found it not too difficult between the 3 once I got used to the movement and appreciate them for their age. I was curious how people completed it so quickly and then figured it out.  

Personally, I would recommend playing the game at least once. Then if wantred to stack, use this method

 

For anyone asking about the other two games. I'm not aware of a level skip option.

The only reasonable mindset I can think of is someone might’ve already played the game back on the PS1 and just wants to mark the game on their profile.
 

I enjoyed taking a trip back to memory lane, however I wouldn’t blame someone who uses this exploit as the third entry is really weak. Now if they skipped the first or second entry, (or the other games) then I would have a personal problem with it. Lol.

Thank you so much for this cheat method! I honestly didn’t mind taking the easy way out after reading how weak this entry was. Personally, playing the first game with some cheats and the second game legit were better experiences imo.

Can you use the ps1 cheats on this one, or did they blocked them like in SF2? Anyway, I won't be playing this game any time soon, in my country it costs 50 bucks, which would be 10 dollars. Still, a ridiculous price for a playstation ONE game that has 22 years.
