Mission 100%: Spring 2023 Backlog Challenge

 

Special thanks to @damon8r351 @colinmazzini and @ShadowStar83x for their parts in hosting the challenge!

If you're like me, you've got an insanely large backlog and have no good reason you keep putting it off and watching it grow. Why not do something about it? Like previous backlog challenges, this event is a challenge to the community to select between 5 and 25 games from your backlog and complete them to 100% starting 00:01 AM EST March 1 and ending at 23:59 US EST on May 31. If you complete the maximum of 25 before the end of the challenge, you can add up to 15 more games for a total of 40. Signups will close on March 31.

Now, here are the details and rules. 

• Event Philosophy: This is a firm commitment to complete the games you say you will within the time limit, so choose games you know you can finish, and select a manageable number. The minimum for the event is 5 games, and the maximum is 25. If you finish 25 games, you can add up to 15 more. You can change your games as much as you want until 23:59 EST on February 28. After the event begins, you can make up to three swaps. If you think there's a good reason to drop a game entirely without swapping (like your console broke or the game got damaged beyond repair), message me. If you want to add more games to your list or want to continue after finishing your list, you can add games to your list up to the maximum. Existing DLC counts in the challenge, but any DLC released during the challenge doesn’t have to be completed, but feel free to do so if you wish.
• Eligible Games: Any game with trophies are eligible for the event, with a few exceptions. One game can have a completion percentage of up to 50%, but the rest must be 33% or under. Unreleased games are fine as long as they're released and you buy them within the challenge's timeframe. If it gets delayed outside the challenge window, you can swap it and it not count against the three swaps. Standalone DLC (like Uncharted: The Lost Legacy) is acceptable as long as it's not part of another trophy list. If it is (Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare for example), you have to also complete the other trophies. You can also do a game where 100% is unobtainable if you feel strongly about it, but you must complete all obtainable trophies. Individual episodes of a game that has separate trophy lists, such as in early Telltale games or Broken Sword on the Vita, count as a single game; therefore, Sam & Max: The Devil's Playhouse counts as 1 game, not 5. For this event, you may complete a game you have previously done for a different platform or region before the start of this event, but you may not do the same game multiple times during this event. Cross-saving a game for an easy completion will also be ineligible. This includes autopopping a cross gen game on PS5. If you want it on both, you have to do it legit. Shovelware games (jump, Breakthrough, the random object letter, etc.) are strictly prohibited.
• Eligible Participants: Anyone is eligible to participate, provided you are serious about completing the games you say will. However, if you have flagged games on your PSNProfile, you are banned from participating unless you hide the games, get unflagged, or use a different profile. No cheating! You will be added to the list with your PSN name rather than PSNP, so if you change your PSN ID, please let me know so I can update you on the list. I will update the participants at least once a day, but if I miss you, @ me or send me a message and I'll add you ASAP.

I was wondering if I should do the PS5 version of Shantae and the Seven Sirens. I heard that you can get a second platinum for playing the PS5 version. I got the platinum on the PS4 version. Want to do Seven Sirens again even though the shooting gallery was annoying.

It says you can add up to 15 more games for a total of 40 in the first line, then, in the list element, it says you can add up to 10 more. Don't think I'll be able to complete that many games, but thought you'd like to change it to 10 or 15 for both instances.

I’ll be joining again as well. I’m still thinking on my list. I do have a couple of games in mind, not everything is all together but I do want to focus more on my PS3 games. Most likely 4 out of 5 will be that.

I'm joining! Since doing the fun thing of allowing PS4 games on my account again I suddenly have a huge backlog of oldies I would love to play again. I want to see how many I get done before this event starts so will be doing a list later. There are quite a few games from my previous accounts I have never actually gotten the platinum in before so I am very excited to not have to keep playing the same stuff from the Winter challenge; I pretty much gave up on it lol.

I'm still very much working toward my list on the Winter 2022/2023 Backlog Challenge.. There's an outside chance of me actually completing a list that I've set out to do, though it will require me continuing to game at quite a pace! So we'll see.. 💪

 

A bit of forward planning, here's what I'd like to try and tackle for Spring 2023. Think I'll try to stick to the five for now!

 

Assassin's Creed Brotherhood (PS4) - 33%

MouseCraft (PS4) - 15%

Need for Speed: Rivals (PS4) - 44%*

The Saboteur (PS3) - 15%

SAW (PS3) - 1%

 

* One game can have a completion percentage of up to 50%, but the rest must be 33% or under.

Okay, I think I have a list to go on this time so I'm in for the next iteration. I know it's a month early but this is my initial list. If I add or change it, it'll probably be around Valentine's Day or something, in case I accidentally disqualify one of the games by going over 33%:

1. LEGO Avengers (0%)
   (I had this sitting around for a while, not fond of the final story level because you might miss collectibles, but I will make do.)
2. LEGO DC Super Villains (0%)
   (I will be playing story mode for the Casual Gaming Club, it'll be the "L" game.)
3. World of Final Fantasy (12%)
   (I failed to get this last time, will put it on here this time, and I will finish it. I actually played it a bit and got more trophies.)
4. Jak & Daxter: The Precursor Legacy (0%)
   (I am going to try to see if I can cheese the debug mode on it for some of the trophies. )
5. Rainbow Billy: The Curse of the Leviathan (0%)
   (I got this in physical disc from the local GameStop while waiting for my mom to fix a flat tire. Art style of Cuphead and the guide said it wasn't too difficult despite having to befriend 80 creatures.)

This game can't be completed in 3 months thanks to the daily quests, it takes at least a bit less than six months. So I'll do as much as I can if I choose FFXIV.

Quick heads up to anyone including Star Wars Jedi: Survivor in their list - It got delayed from March 17th by 6 weeks, so the new release date will be 28th April. It's still within the challenge timeframe, but much closer to the end-of-challenge date.
