Trophy Thoughts

Its looks like the same as Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water but with no all ending trophy it will take some time to get everything done

just a quick question for the fan of the series is this one linked to Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water story or not

do i have to play Maiden of Black Water first ?

Each title of this franchise is partly linked, but you don't need to play any other title before playing one.

This is the fourth game in the series while Maiden of Black Water is the fifth game, you can play this one without starting Maiden of Black Water. Timeline-wise, technically this is a prequel to Fatal Frame 1 but there's hardly any relation between the two.

only thing i hope is there is no glitch on collect all ghosts and obtain festival len Wii U had that glitch and there was no fix

I just captured one of the ghosts that was glitched in the Wii version:

Spoiler

#176 Iori Aiba (Blossomed)

So it seems like they fixed it! Will have to check the others when I get to them but that's already a good sign.

They’ve gone for the total 100% completion just like Maiden of Black Water, which I honestly prefer. Makes sure you see and experience everything the game has to offer.

Finding all ghosts is likely to be extremely difficult as usual as sometimes the times for those are so slim, it’s nice to know they fixed the glitches though and made the Festival Lens available because of it.

This always ranks high on people’s lists of the franchise and I’m so excited to finally be playing it. Not far in but it’s already a lot creepier than V was.

Overall a solid list, all notes, all ghosts, all collectible dolls, fully upgraded camera’s and flashlight, high rank on every chapter (does this also mean per difficulty too?).

Probably going to at least be a solid 7/10 difficulty wise due to Nightmare and just how much the Platinum entails and I know one of the major complaints was the final boss is badly designed and can just appear out of nowhere to insta-kill you. So psyched though, hopefully if it sells decently enough (for a niche horror game) we’ll get Crimson Butterfly, my favourite, next.

It’s totally unrelated to Maiden. The only similarities it shares is the lore behind the Camera OBSCURA. It’s a much scarier and better paced game than V, so you can safely play this and skip V if you like. Voice acting is purely Japanese-subtitled however.

Maiden of Black Water is a solid horror game though, it’s a lot of fun to actually play as the changes to the Camera in it made snapping the Ghosts a joy throughout, it just drags plot-wise at points and there’s SO MUCH backtracking. Some of the plot points are also borderline insane and the writing is BAD

can you change the difficulty just before the last phase?

If it’s anything like Maiden for trophies, this will require you to get an S-Rank for every Chapter, on every difficulty, as only then do these games class you as 100% clearing.

So I’d hazard a guess this won’t work for the Platinum run.

Very similar to Maiden of the Black Water, but kinda easier?

Harder. There’s a lot more hidden stuff and the game itself is harder.

About 30ish of the ghost list pictures require you to take random photo’s of certain areas to get them to appear etc.

And on Nightmare the games a LOT harder than Maiden of Black Water, that games Nightmare is equivalent to this games Hard mode.

Maiden of Black Water was ridiculously easy as far as this franchise goes. Some of the spectres were hard to snap but otherwise there was no real difficulty. You could even beat the final boss with the basic film type, it’s doable here but much harder and there’s multiple ghosts on higher difficulties that are capable of one shorting you and sending you back to the last lantern you passed.

’Missions’ may also give you some nightmares, rather than ranking the Phases like I initially believed it’s a separate set of 10 missions where you’re trying to earn high score points against ghosts within a time limit. Could be difficult.

Luckily they fixed the glitches on the Ghost List. Would’ve sucked if that still existed and you were stuck at 227/233, therefore making 4ish trophies impossible.

The games super fun though, and the camera upgrades make a huge difference. If you can beat it once on Normal you’ll eventually get good enough to beat it on Nightmare.

I see you are very familiar with this game.

Can you also please comment on this trophy Infinity ( Obtain the highest rank in all missions )

On Maiden of black water was a chapter select and it was not hard to get S level, also i cant remember you need to complete on easy, normal and hard?

Thank you

Maiden of Black Water handles ‘missions’ m differently as each Drop is classed as a machine, as is each difficulty. FF1-4 had a designated mission mode that would challenge you to hit high scores within certain time limits. There’s 10 of those here.

Trophy tips;

Enemies are more likely to blossom on the higher difficulties and barely blossom at all on Easy. You’ll have to play on Hard most likely to complete the Ghost List and get them all to Blossom. Also use push and jolting camera abilities as sometimes this will trigger Blossoming.

Most stuff can be found following the main path, however, it’s always worth exploring off the beaten path, even if it means backtracking, at the start of each Phase as new files, voices, spirit radios, revenants and Specters will appear in different areas for different characters.

Buy the Hozuki Doll document for 100,000 points pronto, it isn’t a necessity, but it helps. One thing to note with these dolls is that they’re easier to find than they first appear, when you’re within range of one you’ll start to hear a whistling sound, alongside the sound of wind chimes, this means a Doll is immediately nearby. So look around within the dome of sound to find it.

Is anyone able to confirm that all the ghosts who were bugged out in the Wii version are now fixed (and that they didn’t inadvertently glitch out some that previously worked)? I notice that no one has the Platinum (or the trophy for all the hostile ghosts), and while I know the game isn’t easy or fast and is less than a week old, it still seems odd to me that no hardcore fans have done it yet.

According to this short troubleshoot discussion on steam and checking in on the current highest achiever on the PS4 leaderboard of Lunar Mask with an incredible 97% trophy progress at the time of writing this post, all ghosts seem to register properly this time round thankfully.

The glitched ghosts on the list were all the ‘Blooming’ versions, I’ve unlocked 3 of the 6 glitched ones on the list, so it’s been fixed.

Im currently going through my Hard playthrough and haven’t experienced a single bug, no framerate drips, no glitches, no crashes, Ghost List’s were fixed. I’m honestly pretty impressed with this as far as remasters go.

Difficult trophy list though, missions at S+ Will especially be a pain, I finished one perfectly within 30 seconds only using Fatal Frame shots and still only got a C.

I’d disagree, mission mode, the tight timing in some of the ghosts as well as the fact 19 don’t actually even appear without a specific attachment and then are still easily missable, paired with just how robust the Ghost/Doll list is and the requirement to play through 3 times, on each difficult, upgrading every single thing in the game etc.

Theyre both not the easiest lists but with a fully upgraded camera you can easily S+ everything in Maiden, this games a lot harder just in terms of actual difficulty, as harder difficulties make puzzles and the piano harder as well as enemy encounters were you often get one-shot.
