Communication is the key to everything, if you can't communicate and you are making people waste their time, that is a problem.

Im not one of those, but in my experience is a lot harder to find people to boost if you dont rely on english speaking sites or communities.

 

This is why i dont support the removal of the communities feature, i was able to boost a lot of games with hispanic players using them.  I understand english pefectly and can speak it on a basic level so never had this problem myself but i can see why people do this.

Depends on the game obviously but most games can easily be boosted without using a mic and I haven't boosted with anyone yet that couldn't communicate with at least very basic english through messages

That depends on how complicated the stuff you need to do for the trophies is.

If all you need to do is beat levels together or do regular multiplayer matches then you dont need that much communication but if its more complex stuff you need to do that requires teammwork then yea its important.

We have technology now that can overcome the language barrier. Plenty of apps that can translate audio for you and your web browser can also auto-translate messages and whatnot. 

 

Obviously, it's not the most convenient way to do it but if it's your only choice then it'll have to do.

While English is preferred and a mic is 1000% easier and actually getting information on what we are doing this all helps, but there is a thing called Translate sometimes you have to put in more effort to get things done, and it is not difficult to translate when you have the internet at your disposal sometimes that's just how it is step up as a host and try and get things done.

Thats why I didnt join a lot of sessions in the past, because a lot of games that could be done with just minimal instructions or maybe a discord chat but then people demanding mic... Mic for making an stupid boosting session of a fighting game? And then when you hear them talking they are just talking of whatever shit its come to mind besides the actual boosting... 

 

Huge respect to @Letenko that run a Batman Arkham Origins boosting session on discord without mics, since it seems to be impossible for some people...

As a non-native english speaker, have to say OP has a point in certain cases.  Sometimes, task is simple enough so no communication is necessary. Sometimes, PSN messages are enough. And sometimes, you really do need mic to coordinate you efforts.
In any case, english is lingua franca of the internet, and this is english website, so you're supposed to know it, even if not fluently. I am willing to help if possible, but I won't fucking translate messages or even voice chat, I'm sorry, but you need to find community that will understand you.

That being said, while I wasn't in that many boosting sessions, I've never experienced playing anyone who did not speak english at all. Don't know what made you to make this thread OP, but maybe it's karma that fills your session with foreigners

I had the fortune of the servers still working at that point and it honestly wasn't that bad. This might come off as super cocky, but I don't have any better words to use, given how many boosts I've hosted over the years, that one was (thankfully) so uneventful, I barely remember any of it.

On the other hand, my latest boost, Bad Company 1, had a lot of people join an english speaking server, join an english-only event/session and then be surprised when they couldn't follow simple instructions provided through voice chat, which was absolutely crucial given the randoms who want to ruin it and the award requirements. I don't mind if somebody doesn't speak english, hell it's my 3rd language, but the same way I wouldn't join a server speaking only portugese trying to get progress, I'd expect everyone to act the same.

If a session is only set for text chat and doesn't absolutely need VC, then I couldn't care less. People can use google translate and they usually do just fine (as was the case with a lot of my Bomberman sessions). Like you said, simple boosts that don't need VC, shouldn't require it. I met more people who prefer text chat than I met those who prefer VC.... hell, I don't think I ever heard your voice and we boosted a good amount of games together.

I don't agree with the way OP wrote his post, to me it sounds like he just got off of a session where a non-english speaker ruined something so he came here to vent.

I feel this could be a problem but I feel the real problem we all need to worry about is the people who boost with you then leave once they got what they want as I met alot of them kinds before.

Some trophies are pretty simple and don't need mics. I've done several boost sessions without mics and they've gone just fine. If we needed something, we just used messages.

I was actually thinking the same thing. Many of my early boosts were disasters here because of selfish gamers- which put me off of them for a few years. I've had better luck lately at least. 

 

Personally, I prefer to not talk. I'll do it if needed for sure, but if I can just follow directions I'm happier lol
