straysheep87
I don't know why, but this season 2 is below my expectations. After the brilliant season 1 and the 400 days, I was expecting another GOTY. Okay, this game is good for sure, but the story still don't catch me up, like Wolf Among Us does, for example. What all you think? This game is living up to your expectations? Edited May 4, 2014 by straysheep87
Tekyumeeee
I think it's great so far, especially the 2nd episode, which is perhaps my favorite of the entire series so far.
savageamusement
Cant wait till they finish this season so I can play them all without waiting, its been tough not to buy the season pass now but I know the wait between episodes would be a killer. As soon as both this and the wolf among us are finished Ill be playing them on VITA.
PSNP is crap i left
I like Season 2 so far. I only hope that the episodes get better because it takes SO long for them to come out.

HowIPendragon
I'm only disappointed by how long Telltale takes to release the damn episodes. WD2 and The Wolf Among Us are the first of their games I've played as they release. I know I can't expect them to come out within 2 weeks of eachother but its really hard to recall the story and remember why you even care about it in the first place when they take so long. Especially when they took freaking 4 months for Episode 2 of WAU >.< Storywise, we're only 2 episodes in so its hard to tell if this will be a good one yet, but there have been a lot less emotional moments for me. I totally agree with you, the delay of the release of upcoming episodes are a really pain in the ass, since you forgot some names and events on past, but I really hope the things start heating up on the episode 3.
hishomie1
Thing is, it's just a completely new cast of characters with the exception of Clem, and (SPOILER ALERT DON'T READ AHEAD) Kenny. I guess we're all just having Lee withdrawal symptoms

I really can't compare it with the first season since the current season is still unfinished... I just hope it somehow ties up some loose ends from the first season (what happened to Lily, the other 400 days casts etc...)
AnRoDr
The thing that I find a little irritating is that each episode seems to be getting shorter and shorter? It could be because I enjoy them so much, but I really think season 1 had longer gameplay per episode ....

It could be because I enjoy them so much, but I really think season 1 had longer gameplay per episode .... It's not just you. The first game took about 10 hours to play straight through (2 hours an episode) and that is with knowing what to do from my first playthrough on iOS. This season is taking about 55 min-1:15 to complete each episode through the first time. So it seems they are about half as long. I won't know for certain until I play through the complete game on the vita when it gets released so I can directly compare!
willmill97
In Harm's Way spoilers ahead! Episode 1, 2 and 3 of Season 2, have in my opinion, been better then their each respective Season 1 episodes. If I was going to rank each episode from best to worst, it would go: 1-5, 2-3, 2-2, 1-2, 1-4, 2-1, 1-3, 400 Days, 1-1. (1-1 was not bad at all, just didn't have enough omgwtfbbq moments to be better than the rest. I love 'em all.) It would be very hard to beat No Time Left at the current stage, but we will have to see later on with these last 2 episodes. P.s In Harm's Way was just flat out perfect, I totally didn't expect Carver to be killed off this early, I thought he would last all season, I'm glad I thought wrong. What happened with Clem, Sarah, Carver, Carlos, Alvin, Bonnie, Kenny, Sarita, Carver and even fucking Troy was just fantastic and I can't wait for Amid the Ruins. PSNP is crap i left
Yeah, the episodes have been getting kind of short lately. In Season 1 they felt longer but meh it's nothing to complain about really.

I am somehow leaning towards TWD S2 now... I agree with you that TWAU E4 was weaker than expected, and the TWD2 E3 was the best so far and start to make things much more interesting, but I still think the TWAU is way much better than TWD2. Hong_Kong_Hermit
Baffling praise for episode 3 of this series, which was the worst out of both seasons so far. It was repugnant in many ways, and it made me legitimately angry just thinking back over it. Went into episode 4 with very low expectations, but was surprised and relieved that it was actually pretty good. Only played it because I had the season pass, after episode 3 I was ready to abandon the series otherwise. Yes, I found it that bad. I consider season 1 to be one of the games of all time, and it ended perfectly. Going beyond that always had a risk of taking more away than it could possibly add. Episode 3 of this new series had appalling writing though. The villains were of the cartoon variety, doing evil things just so you knew they were evil and would wish for bad things to happen to them, and then "yay", bad things happen to them. Other characters existed only to die, their sole purpose was to be killed off to try and heighten the tension and make the villains look more villainous. The conversations were all bitter, angry, and consisted of foulmouthed idiots yelling at other foulmouthed idiots. I cared for barely none of them, and if a story has no heart, no characters to root for, then it's meaningless. The ending was also ridiculously sadistic, and came across as if written by a sociopathic teenager. It was almost leering and gleeful in how human deaths were made to be as slow and painful as possible. Also, fuck Kenny. Hated that guy in both seasons, and despite going against him at every single turn the story was so railroaded that I was powerless to affect him. I'm all for the "many paths, one destination" style of the game, it's what made the first season so wonderful on two full playthroughs. But this time, there really was far less variety in what happened, you basically got different variations of the same bitter, angry conversations with scumbags. Episode 4 brought the game back for me. Still overly railroaded, but the big moments were still quite good. Kind of sad to play for 2 hours hoping for a couple of prominent moments to deliver, but it's renewed my faith in the game and makes me keen to see how it ends. I won't buy into a third season, should there be one, because there will only be diminishing returns. The great power of season 1's ending, and The Last of Us, is that they were a demonstration that there is no such thing as a happy ending in a zombie apocalypse. It's the slow and gradual disentegration of the remnants of the human race, the last embers of a dying species holding on to life for those last precious few moments not knowing how long they have, but knowing the end will come soon and that it will be brutal. That's the interesting thing about zombie apocalypses, the crashing down of society, there is no interesting story to be told in the longterm. With humanity's numbers so reduced, so much knowledge and infrastructure gone, even the most positive outcomes would be little more than subsistence farming and rape. Cordoned off areas of farmland, scratching a living out of the dirt while fighting off occasional zombie incursions and raiders. Sometimes less is more. As much as I have enjoyed some moments of season 2 (episode 3‘s juvenile torture-porn notwithstanding), I do wish I had left the story with Clementine sitting on that log in the sunshine, staring across at two distant figures wondering what was to become of her. It was a more perfect momenr than anything that could ever come after, and I was foolish to ignore that.
