Regardless, like Leonardo said, deleting the GAME data (not save data) and re-installing it generally fixes things like that. Hell, simply replaying the level may fix it as well. The amount of mashing is proportional to the difficulty you have selected. I remember it being super frustrating as well, but eventually you will get it. I thought there was something wrong with the game as well until I saw YouTube videos of this mission. C'mon, you are close to getting the platinum trophy. Don't give up now! I know it seems futile and there is no room for error but eventually the game will let you move on. At least it is right at the start of the check point so you aren't wasting a bunch of time.
