Popular Post xVolloxx
Rise of the Tomb Raider Xbox exclusivity deal 'has a duration' Microsoft's Rise of the Tomb Raider exclusivity deal "has a duration", Xbox boss Phil Spencer has confirmed, suggesting the game could come to PlayStation 4 and PC at a later date. "I have Tomb Raider shipping next holiday exclusively on Xbox," Spencer told Eurogamer. "It is Xbox 360 and Xbox One. I'm not trying to fake anybody out in terms of where this thing is. What they do with the franchise in the long run is not mine. I don't control it. So all I can talk about is the deal I have. I don't know where else Tomb Raider goes." Spencer added that “the deal has a duration. I didn't buy [Tomb Raider],” he said. "I don't own the franchise." However, he refused to say how long the game would be exclusive to Xbox, stating that "there are certain things I'm just not going to talk about because it's a business deal between us and [square Enix]. Obviously the deal does have a duration. I didn't buy the IP in perpetuity." Microsoft announced yesterday that Rise of the Tomb Raider would launch in Holiday 2015 exclusively on Xbox. The announcement angered fans, with many taking to social media to express their disappointment. Square Enix declined to comment on the announcement when contacted by VideoGamer.com, simply stating: "Coming holiday 2015, ROTTR is exclusively on Xbox - we have no further comment to make at this time." http://www.videogamer.com/xboxone/rise_of_the_tomb_raider/news/rise_of_the_tomb_raider_xbox_exclusivity_deal_has_a_duration.html They should have stated this yesterday , especially crystal dynamics , the deal could be for a long time but personally i think it wont last for over a year ... good to hear it does have a duration and again i don't understand why no one stated this earlier as it would have made a lot of people way less mad and a lot of fans slightly happier , it still sucks but obviously it's not nearly as bad . Goro
Great news! If he refused to specify how long the duration is then it's probably only a month of two.
madbuk
Hell yes. Thank fuck for that. I can wait it out. Omar
Knew it! They were simply creating an impact and drawing attention, marketing strategy that actually worked, but more like against them lol but that doesn't matter now, we are all going to enjoy this likely-to-be powerful game on our system of choice, PS4 and PC owners will have to wait, but I personally have a SH*T LOAD of titles to play, so I'm not bothered!
StewartBros
Nice to have some official confirmation that ROTTR will make its way to Playstation at some point, although it was bound to happen anyway.
ilker-c
have a feeling it'll come to playstation and pc near the beginning of 2016 coz then it won't be 'holiday 2015' anymore
Popular Post PREDRAG-K
So what was their plan here? To get everyone pissed at them for one day, then announce it's timed. Now everyone is saying "Phew, now I can buy it for PS4." I don't see how this helped Microsoft at all.

soniq
And all is well in the land of PlayStation. Makes me happy I can put it on my PSN profile and go for completion instead of just playing through it once on easy and be done with it.

DPthe32man
Did he made this announcement because of the raging fans all over the internet? and the petition already reached 10 000 signatures, hope it´s not like Dead rising 3 and Ryse losing it´s exclusivity only to PC.
MatCauthon
That's good news indeed. I'll pick it up when it crosses over, however long that takes. However, I won't pay $60 for what will then be a 6 month... 12 month old game, or even older. MS must have paid a good chunk of change, otherwise SE is going to be losing a ton of money, regardless of the timing of the exclusivity deal. finallife5
I'm more disappointed its on Xbox 360, another game for next gen (still not current gen) that is being supported for their older consoles, then again I guess M$ has to since they're being outsold 3 to

RainyDusk
hope it´s not like Dead rising 3 and Ryse losing it´s exclusivity only to PC. It's not like that. Right now, they could port Dead Rising 3 and Ryse to PS4 if the publishers (Capcom/Deep Silver) want to. Microsoft just had a 6-month exclusivity deal for those titles on X1. Publishers stated they have no plans for PS4 versions, at least at the moment, and maybe because porting X1 to PC is a lot easier than X1 to PS4. Fastandslow
A famous explorer once said, that the extraordinary is in what we do, not who we are. I'd finally set out to make my mark, On Xbox to find adventure. But instead Anger found me. In our darkest moments, when life flashes before us, we find something. Something that keeps us going. Something that pushes us. Hope That Sony will take me back - Lara Croft 2014 Edited August 13, 2014 by Fastandslowv2

Bendelow4
It was obvious really but it just proves how effective marketing speak really is, at the end of the day though I am sure it's going to be a good game, a console seller? Definitely not.
D-Tron
I'm surprised that the Xbox boss actually came out and said this and not Square Enix. Now that I have this information, I don't think I'll buy it new even on PS4. Timed exclusitivity is a terrible business practice.
Razza
Good to hear that it still might be coming to PS4 after all, but this is still a backstabbing move by having it released on one console before another, It just makes me want to stick to playing Uncharted instead
Scorpiio93
What is the point of the timed duration then? blah, just release it for all at the same time -.-
