Popular Post Elvick_
Platinum #137 Ni no Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom One True King Awarded for achieving 100% completion. Woo boy, where to begin. I'll start with saying I wasn't really grabbed by the initial few trailers so stopped paying attention/caring about it. Hyped further buried by Bamco having two different CEs in NA/EU [content wise] so even if I wanted everything, which I did, I couldn't get it without spending $500+ on it; getting duplicates of things. Or, buying off ebay which is lame. I ended up getting the standard on release anyway. And somehow, it still disappointed me. Especially the story. As another bit of backstory, I personally thought the first game was incredible. I know some hated it, at least gameplay wise [AI in particular] but I had minimal issues with that. [AI isn't much better in this game either as it turns out!] The story is honestly pretty awful. It's very bare bones. A simple, "bring peace to the world" story. Which isn't really the problem in and of itself, but that characters serve no purpose. Evan has no character growth. He's the same character from the time he sets off on his journey, to the time he ends it. The worst part is (vague spoiler but I'll tag just in case) Spoiler the game pretends that he has a crisis of character at one point, but he never does. He's the same the entire game. Roland is the most interesting party member, but even he's not given a lot of individual development and growth. But at least they have purpose. All the other party members are worthless to the story ultimately. You could just have them walk in when they initially do, and then be NPCs who help out from time to time. Or in the case of the first two party members... disappear forever since they have no purpose beyond their introduction. They don't play a huge role in the story, you could remove them and nothing of importance is really lost. I would've actually preferred they be temporary guest characters who serve their purpose and go away, to match their use in the story. And then come back when needed. Then the story could have solely focused on building an interesting relationship between Evan and Roland, and then maybe there'd be something actually worth experiencing in the game's story. But they didn't do that. So we're stuck with a pretty boring story. It's not a "bad" story. It's just.. it's not good. And compared to the first game... it's nothing at all special. I wonder if the lack of Studio Ghilbli involvement has anything to do with that. The animations were greatly missed, by the way. Let's talk about that for now. Instead of beautifully animated cutscenes, and well scripted ingame /engine cutscenes [meaning the characters move around] we're stuck with mostly standing around blabbing through text boxes. Some voices, some not. There are a few scripted ingame/engine scenes, but they're usually about 1-3 seconds long then an awkward transition into standing around blabbing through text boxes. The intro of the game is a prime example of how this interferes with the storytelling. What could be a very intense introduction scene is now just an awkward, boring, experience. Maybe I'm being overly harsh, but it was very noticeable in many places. Gameplay is serviceable in combat, but I hated that you can't cancel out of attacks to block or dodge. It's not a fun experience in an action game. Not that I'm that great at timing in action games, but I never got used to how it worked in this since I expect any modern game to let me cancel out of an attack. GoW comparatively felt great. Skirmishes are fine enough as a concept, but to platinum you have to do 50 of them; one each so all of them. And that just drags on, that was my most dreaded trophy. To make matters worse, the icons on the world map appear and disappear at random with no rhyme or reason to when they change. Luckily I waited to keep going for plat so a patch was released that changed completed skirmishes to blue. So it was easier that way, prior to that people had to enter the skirmish, check if they could pick the hard mode, then exit if they could. Stupid. I didn't like the higgledies. Not even sure that's their name, so I'll call them higgies to make it easier for myself. I would have much rather preferred the familiars [from the first game] stay in the game. The higgies' AI is terrible, and they don't do that much that a familiar couldn't also do. They could have had the same gameplay mechanics, where they act independently of you. Reduced the number to 3 [instead of 4] so you get one per character. Or in my perfect Ni no Kuni 2, just 2 familiars for Roland and Evan; everyone else is a guest with their own but most of the game is 2 of you. They use abilities periodically, and to do a 'special' move they prep themselves ready for action with the same AoE circle higgies use and then you run to them and click the 'x' button while in the circle. That way you could still have the fun "gotta catch 'em all" aspect. You sort of have it with higgies, but they suck and I didn't care about any of them. I would've rather collected familiars. "Kingdom building"... sucks. Everything has it's predestined placement. There's nothing really unique. The only semblence of Dark Cloud's town building is that there's a handful of characters with unique abilities who go in specific buildings that no one else can. But there are townspeople that have no real place, despite them having unique skillsets that you see when you're busy doing their quest to unlock them. Take a painter. You get her, and she serves no unique purpose once she joins the town. There is no "gallery" to build for her to display art [which could have been concept art of the game...]. In yet there is a character who sings that gets a stadium where you can listen to the soundtrack of the game. It's so half baked. It's like they wanted to do this, but ran out of time/money so just left what was there. You don't get to customize the buildings or how they look, you don't have towns people with requests of where they want to live and what they want near them. Nothing, since it's all determined for you. I guess my not watching trailers on the town building is my bad, I expected it to just rip off Dark Cloud like White Knight Chronicles did. But they didn't even do that. Though they did rip the social media stuff from WKC [and they did rip the Rogue Galaxy end-game dungeon via the dreamer doors]. Worst of all, instead of more unique buildings [like a war room that could've fixed the terribleness of finding and doing the skirmishes; and plenty of military people in your kingdom], you have like 4-6 of the same kind of building but with mostly the same materials to farm over time... with a few unique materials just to annoy you. And some are visually the same too, so there's no variation between them. Speaking of the kingdom building. There's a companion app that should've existed. Why we have to do things in real game time is beyond me. It's so stupid. Wouldn't have been a problem if we could've done all that stuff on an app and transfer progress back and forth. Then the massive restrictions on customization would've been tolerable. The music is good at times, unfitting in other times. The first real area you explore has this overbearing soundtrack, it legitimately stressed me out to be there and hear that music. In certain parts it's so intense it's more like boss music than a song that's meant to be for a simple early game area. It's *ominous*. If you plopped it out of context and told someone it was the final area's boss* theme you'd believe them. I know this is more criticism than it is praise. Don't get me wrong it's not a bad game. It's just... like a paint by numbers JRPG that has no soul. Sure it has nice character models, but even the environments left me wanting something. Nothing felt as awe inspiring as the first game's environments. The most interesting things are not delved into at all. There are mysteries unsolved, granted there's a season pack so maybe it'll be for that, but I'm not holding my breath for that stuff to turn out all that great. Despite all my criticisms, I did have fun with it [though platting it isn't as fun as just playing normally]. I just see how it could've been great, and it makes me sad that it was so far off from greatness. I know Level-5 can do better than this. edit; cute plat icon though. I could've gone into specific issues I have with the story, but wanted to avoid spoilers. Edited August 30, 2018 by Elvick_
Popular Post Meachamp-
#4 Time to platinum: 20 hours | Difficulty: 5/10 | Enjoyment: 10/10 Fancied something a little different this time, thought I'd start on the Resident Evil series, with so many games in the series you'd think the game with a massive 0 was a good starting point right? Spoiler Overview Ohhh just your usual typical scenario "Go and investigate a series of cannibalistic murders in the mountains" We all know what that means though right? You play as Rebecca Chambers a member of Bravo team (S.T.A.R.S) who in the intro were all happily in the helicopter chilling finding a place to start and work and then ENGINE FAILURE. This results in crashing onto the ground in a forest, in the dark, with zombies. You come across an a train called the express and will start to explore it to investigate and look for escaped prison inmate Billy Coen. Who was a marine so he knows how to handle a gun. You then go on this journey together solving puzzles and helping each other out of really sticky situations. The deeper you get the more you find out about the dreaded "T-virus" and how it was produced etc. Which is why I think this game is absolutely crucial in knowing how it all begins etc and yeah, it gives a lot of information that will fill in them voids say if you only played 1-3 etc etc. Then once you find out enough information your objective is to escape but everyone knows it's never that easy. Character & Level Design There really isn't much to say about characters besides Billy and Rebecca, there are other characters but they don't have big enough roles. Billy is a war veteran so he doesn't really panic much etc and he knows how to handle a gun, he's well trained and can literally take a lot of damage from the enemies. Rebecca is new to Bravo team and I think she's a medic, she has the ability of combining them famous colourful herbs and making them more potent etc etc. Level design is really good for a game released in 2002 and even better with the remaster/remake it had done to it. Mainly background images and then you have your routes etc. The one thing that game design was plagued with back then though is camera angles and to be fair, it works in games like this. It's annoying sure but it works a lot and it makes it more intense when going round the corner and a zombie is just chilling ready for his 5pm meal. Trophies Trophies aren't too bad, it just takes a lot of playthrough to get through them. There's the obvious play through and complete missions etc, the bosses and a few misc ones like shoot off a Zombies legs etc etc. They are quite simple though it just depends on how you approach the whole system. I mean for me it took 6 playthroughs to complete the platinum. My original playthrough on Normal Leech Mode getting all kills and charms Leech Mode getting one characters charms Speed run under 3.30 hours for one trophy Wesker Mode run through for one trophy Hard mode run through. Don't be put off, you get used to the game really quick and honestly the leech mode and the speed run/wesker mode trophies can be done in like 2-3 hours each. So it's really not too bad honestly. Conclussion A great introduction to me to the series as I'm kinda picky at playing games from the beginning and then going through them as I kind of like the continuation I couldn't jump from one random number to the next it just wouldn't work for me so I'm really happy that I decided to play it. Again, don't be put off by the old controls, came angles etc and the amount of playthroughs it takes to get the platinum it really isn't that difficult as long as you can item manage well on the Hard difficulty as the enemies are tougher and there is less health items and ammo etc but more than enough to not give you a headache.
Popular Post Stormverse
Definitely one of my top platinum trophies. I'm not very good at fast paced action games so the Nightmare runs and boss rush nightmare trophies were pretty frustrating. Not to mention 7 playthroughs required. The game is really good though and controls well.
I need more BIOSHOCK
Plat 370 One more dungeon (vita version) I thought it would be an easy one being one of the games from Ratalaika but I was wrong. Its very easy to get swarmed by enemies and die easily, and some of the random dungeon layouts are really bad and take forever to locate the exit. Luckily there is a duplication glitch you can abuse by spamming x when picking up items like health Potions and exiting the game if you die so you start on the same level rather than have to start all over. Even with these glitches it's still really annoying. Even though it's a cross buy like all games from these devs I'm not even gonna bother with the PS4 version as the glitches don't work on that one. It's annoying enough with them at your disposal so I really couldn't be fooked with it plus I didn't really enjoy it much at all.

Popular Post MoneyBagMav
God of War Platinum #72 Easily one of my favorite games for the year. All the changes they made were only good things to me. I used to like series primarily because it was just a hack and slash themed in Greek mythology. The change to combat, the customization, the AXE, the open world feel, and character development make this game leaps and bounds better than the previous titles. In my opinion anyway.

Popular Post Sergen
Marvel Ultimate Alliance (PS4): Platinum #108 Difficulty: 3/10 Time Taken: 40-50 Hours I was kind of looking forward to playing this game after seeing how well reviewed it was in the past, but I'll say that it's not what I expected. The only other game that I've played that could be compared to this one was Marvel Heroes Omega, which unfortunately had the servers shut down. With this game, it's basically the alpha to Marvel Heroes Omega, but that's mainly because it was originally released in 2006, so the technology wasn't available to make it a blockbuster game. This game is quite enjoyable after you get out of the intro area, the intro area is a very depressing setting, at least for me it was, I enjoyed the areas of this game that were more colourful and less dark. It does contain every Marvel hero you could hope to see within it, so it is providing good fan service to anyone who likes Marvel games and comics, but I think having played a superior Marvel RPG before playing this kind of ruined the mood for me. The platinum for this game isn't very difficult, but from my perspective I was able to skip an entire Hard mode playthrough because someone who had completed the game on that difficulty setting invited me and my friend to their game where all we had to do was defeat the final boss on the game and we got the trophy. I am very glad that hard mode was skippable because after doing everything else, I'd be completely dreading having to do another playthrough of the game, especially when it would be on the hardest difficulty setting. When I worked on this platinum, I used Sabretooth the most for my first playthrough, because eventually I had a move with him that would rip enemies apart with his claws, which was great. Unfortunately due to the missable DLC trophies for this game, I kind of had to use a shitty game cast for my first playthrough, which consisted of Dr. Doom, Cyclops, Magneto and Sabretooth, I can say I surely wouldn't be using that team for hard mode if I had to beat the game on that difficulty. Cyclops was really only there for the ride of my first playthrough because he had to interact with Jean Grey in the story for one of the trophies, but everyone else was decent. I had to find out the hard way that one of the boss fights had a game breaking glitch, which could only be fixed by removing Dr. Doom from your party, I have no idea what caused that but I think the developers should have really looked into that before releasing the game. I never played the original version of this game, so I can't compare it to that, but I can say I'm glad I never paid the full price for this game, as $60 for the bundle evidently would be a complete rip off. Considering this is the rarest platinum of the Ultimate Alliance games, I am assuming Ultimate Alliance 2 doesn't take as long to platinum, so I am looking forward to doing it. Another boring and repetitive part of this game was the Comic Simulator Missions, these missions make you either play as an individual character or play as a team that aims to defeat a boss that has been pissing them off. The worst level visually was certainly Daredevil's, which actually darkened the rooms in the level to simulate his blindness, that was somewhat annoying. On this game, you pick up gear or spend credits towards upgrading heroes and when you have upgraded enough you really do become an unstoppable killing machine, so when I was powerful enough I was able to defeat most enemies quickly during the comic missions. I never had to replay a comic mission to get gold after my initial completion of it, because my score was always gold upon completion, but this was mainly due to the fact that most areas in those missions have infinite spawning enemies, which allows you to kill them until you reach the gold score and then you can go straight for the boss. The most annoying mission in the game was Thor's individual mission because it took me a bit of time to figure out how to beat his boss and my closest mission to failure was Spider-Woman, who I scored only 30 points above gold with for that particular mission. I do recommend this game to anyone who didn't play Marvel Heroes Omega before this who wants a decent Marvel experience, but if you played Marvel Heroes Omega then you'll have seen significantly better quality than this game and probably feel like it is a bargain bin version of it. Popular Post FluffyAssassin64
#90 - Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice "Done" Collect all of the other trophies Wow. What an engrossing experience. I found it so hard to put down this game game, as it gripped me at every turn and in every possible way. I absolutely love when devs take the risk with tough subject matter like this. Mental illness - as the devs themselves said in their commentary - is rarely talked about (let alone has a game based around it), but it's such an important topic in today's society, considering just how prevalent it is. The characters and mo-cap were excellent. The Norse mythology snippets were great (I love this mythology, and God of War covering it recently made for an even deeper exploration). The visual design - while not 'beautiful' at first glance - fit the game incredibly well. Combat, while not perfect, was actually quite good; and I loved how I could find extra depth as I continued to play (like sprinting attacks and combos). Most of all though, I have to applaud the sound design. The sound effects, music and voice work (in particular) were absolutely stellar. I'll never be able to hear voices in my ear the same way again... I don't want to say much more for fear of spoiling it, but this is one of my favourite gaming experiences in recent years. While quite simple as a 'game' (exploration, simple puzzles and combat, etc.), the journey and 'feel' of this game is absolutely amazing. Though it delves into some very dark subject matter, and there are some 'horror' elements, I can confidently recommend this to anyone who wants to see just how far the gaming medium has come. Oh, and the easy trophies are just icing on the cake... but, if you're playing this game just for the trophies, you're missing out on one of the greatest explorations of mental illness in media. An absolute gem; just make sure you play with headphones! You'll miss out on an awful lot if you don't... Game rating: 9/10 Plat difficulty: 1.5/10 (no chapter select for collectibles is the only reason it gets 0.5)

Desmuria
#69 - Yonder: The Cloud Catcher Chronicles A walk in the park 100% completion of all trophies. Enjoyment: 7/10 Difficulty: 3/10 Some aspects of this game were really good, while others were a real pain in the arse. The open world exploration is really fun, especially when you're just starting out and you're discovering new places and animals. The quests are relatively easy and the story flows through the "main" quests nicely. My only issue with this game was "A Fishy Collection" trophy. My God. You're tasked with catching every fish type, which seems like an easy feat, but it's really not. The Old Soggy Boot is elusive as Hell and it took hours of fishy grinding to obtain it. Then we have the super duper rare Gigalev fish... it's damn impossible to hook. The amount of rage I exhibited whilst trying to catch the Gigalev was actually unhealthy to the point where I had to quit the game and come back to it later. As my frustrations grew, I decided that I would resort to relying on a known glitch where you can reload the game and reset one of the traders who rarely sells said fish. I have no regrets. #70 - 36 Fragments of Midnight Platinum Midnight Become a master collector Enjoyment: 6/10 Difficulty: 2/10 Cute little game and easy platinum trophy. Can be a little frustrating when you first start playing but, once you get used to the controls and how the different traps work, it's a breeze. Popular Post Satoshi Ookami
THE LEGEND OF HEROES 全てのトロフィーを獲得した。 And here it is... the phenomenal outcome of the best series ever... All dem feels, all the memories, all the brilliance, concentrated into one package. I know people probably don't like TC that much because not much actually happened but... Wow, just wow... the info bombs this game has, that's just so brilliant. Such an incredible connection between Liberl and Crossbell. Oh my, now I'm super hyped for Zero&Ao. And the memory doors... oh my. Just incredible, not just those of recent events but especially the past ones... The Renne one... that one... When you think she can't be any more lovable, she just breaks that illusion like glass. Renne is just the best character, she deserves the best... There's not much to say any more about Kiseki since the series is what RPG perfection is. The characterization, the bad guys, the world, the world-building, battle system, it just has everything polished to the maximum level. Not to mention the BGM, oh the BGM... No other game makes me stop playing simply to listen to the BGM. Hoshi no Arika and Gin no Ishi, Kin no Tsubasa are simply the peak of game audio, no buts. This series... is just that fantastic. No other series can compare with the depth this world has. And playing out of order? That's just impossible... just impossible =D

Popular Post Leon Hasegawa
#154 - Nioh You Are NiohObtained all trophies Enjoyment: 9/10 Difficulty: 6/10 I decided to play this game because it reminded me of Onimusha series. Sadly, It seems that Capcom "killed" this series so I don't think they will remaster these games or make a new Onimusha game. Since I haven't play any Soul games (well, I actually did play Demon's Souls in an hour then I threw the game disc away because it was so boring), so it took me awhile to figure out how to approach the enemy safely. During the first few hours of gameplay, I rushed to the enemies and spammed the attack buttons like I did in Warriors series, but the enemies killed me in a few hits. The Double Boss missions are indeed hard even with the help of Living Weapon, Cloth, and other magic buffs, but I somehow managed to defeat them after my character was killed countless times. Now I'm working on the dlc stories and their trophies, it's gonna be a tough challenge ahead, but I'm happy with my current platinum. In the end, Nioh is a good game which satisfied my requirements: Japanese history and Onimusha-related stuffs; however, I still like Onimusha series than this game. I just bought 5x Onimusha PS2 games a few days ago, I'm gonna take a break from trophy to play these games again later. Popular Post RedRodriguez87
Expert Angler 2 years and 4 months. To date, the LONGEST time to plat I have. Like most games tat took this long, I really had no intention of doing it for the longest time. I mean, the game itself is fun enough, no glitches, etc. It just wasn't my kind of game when I first attempted it, I had other games I wanted to play at that time, and the trophies are bland/ugly as hell (seriously, any reason the plat at least could've had SOME shading of blue in it?) But last week, I thought about it, and figured "I'm sure its easy enough", and for the most part, it was. Tedious as hell, but easy. Now I'm debating whether or not to attempt the newer PS4 game. Eh, probably not for a while.
