I got this over a week ago, but was busy with the DLC:

 

#182: Demon Gaze II

The first game was a hidden gem for me, so the expectations were high for this one. The story is good, but it feels like a standalone game until reaching the post-game part. That's when an overarching story is explained that ties in events from both games and also mentions some things that could be used for a third game. The characters were diverse and it was nice to see some from the previous game. Though Muse and Prim looked like a mix of Fran from the first game and Alice from Operation Abyss (another game from the same developer).

 

The sequel also improved some things from the first game: party members now have a role in the story, the horrible rent system is gone, and information is provided about what each stat does. Some things I didn't like was the reduced amount of dungeons and not being able to save at summon circles anymore when save-scumming for artefacts. Besides that, gold is hard to come by at the start due to the rent system being removed and enemies don't drop gems anymore (which are used at summon circles to obtain loot), so these need to be bought. The music from the first game was also better.

 

After beating the story and the post-game boss, the free DLC that's included in the English version is accessible. This DLC easily takes 40+ hours to complete, which is great. There are a lot of developers who could learn a thing or two about creating good DLC. This DLC takes place in the area of the first game and also gives players the opportunity to find out how other characters are doing. As a bonus only the music from the first game plays during this DLC.

 

All in all it's a good sequel, but I liked the story from the first game a bit more.

Time to Platinum: 60 hours | Difficulty: 3/10 | Enjoyment: 9/10

 

So I decided to play an established PS2 classic from which I heard nothing but praise from. I can't believe I missed this game during my PS2 games. I guess maybe I didn't really like the look of it when I was younger. What's the old saying though? "Never judge a book by a cover" for me it was just that and I was shocked at how good this game actually turned out to be.

Overview

The story begins with a back story about a white wolf named Shiranui and swordsman called Nagi had fought and sealed the eight-headed demon Orochi at a cave in Nippon to save a village where a sacrifice happens every time the full moon occurs. After 100 years someone who doesn't believe in the legend removes the sword holding Orochi back from the world and doing so unleashes a catastrophic series of events for the whole world. A wood sprite known as Sakuya calls upon the Goddess of the Sun, Amaterasu. Who takes the form of Shiranui re-igniting an old legend. You then have a companion known as Issun who helps you on your journey in order to restore the world to a time of peace. A lot of stuff happens in this game and it's really not that simple so that's the most brief version I could write.

 

Character & Level Design

There isn't much to say about Amaterasu really as she doesn't say a word. What you can say is that she helps everyone that she can and is very inteligent. Very much the strong silent protagonist type. She is a cool white wolf who has many different powers and although doesn't really speak has a good personality if that makes sense? Issun the side kick is more annoying than helpful in my opinion. Always bouncing around running his mouth, offended at every bit of banter. Especially whenever Waka was around. He got annoying pretty quick but near the end he seemed to mellow out a bit so there was some growth. The rest of the characters you can't really talk about because you don't see them much. Waka you see a couple of times but he tells you what he wants and then just flies off. So there isn't much to say I guess. Oh, Susano a descendant of Nagi is basically Mr. Satan from Dragon Ball Z.. that's the best comparison I can give him. He was actually quite funny sometimes.

 

Level Design is where the game shines really. It's a Japanese game set in Japan so you best believe it would be colourful. It's full of life, great landscapes full of life with animals that you can feed for praise throughout the game. Enemies everywhere as demon scrolls which are colourful themselves. Once the game opens up to you there's a lot of different areas with different contrasts. There's Agata forest which is forest area (obviously) with a marsh, place to fish hidden caves etc. All the way to Kamui which is the massive snow areas where blizzards are blowing everywhere. There's a lot more but just examples of the areas and they all are different really. They're all really nice.

 

Gameplay

Gameplay is a little unique really, in your travels you gain different brush techniques and a lot of them have different properties and they all help with different enemies etc which makes experimenting in battle a heck a lot of fun. Once you find weaknesses etc you'll love the combat. You then have 3 types of weapons. Glaives, Beads and Reflectors.. none are better than the other really and are all personal preference so the choice is yours. That's a great thing about this game is the choice when it comes to the combat. Obviously enemies have weaknesses and do a lot more damage but that's entirely up to you and how you approach the fights are up to you to.

 

There's some puzzles you have to do in some areas and they are quite fun. There's a lot of side content to and all of them have to be done for some beads and some money which help a lot on your journey.

 

Trophies

Nothing to out of the ordinary here. The bulk of the trophies are from learning your brush techniques and from taking out the bosses of the game. They're all pretty straightforward and you will earn all of them when going through the game. Some others are just for filling out all of your scrolls. So all techniques, all fish, treasures, stray beads. Basically your collectibles and there is a lot of all of them but they're not too bad to collect. I would say use some guides for them though otherwise you will be doing a lot of backtracking for them and the bestiary for filling out all enemies is technically missable. There are a couple missable ones, such as getting a cherry tree ranking and they have a few requirements which are pretty simple to complete to be honest. If you collect everything before finishing the game then you should have no problem with getting the rank.

 

Some of the other trophies are for doing some side bosses such as the Kusa 5 and the extreme demon gates. Nothing too demanding though they are basically things you do right before you enter the final boss.

 

Conclussion

A great game I'm glad I finally got round to playing. Something I wouldn't of picked up back in the day but I'm glad I already had it here to play and it was a great game. It takes a while to get into and at the start it can be a little overwhelming with all the paths and finding stuff you can use your brush techniques on until later in the game so just be prepared to do some backtracking but nothing to crazy as long as you keep on top of it.

Where to start. This game had me hooked from the moment I started. the stuff you had to do were kinda repetitive however I really liked the gameplay so couldn't complain about that part. Thanks to @BakkerJ for mentioning to install all DLC from the start thanks to that I probably didnt encounter any weird glitches, bugs or any of that stuff mentioned on the internet.

You need 2 playthroughs for the platinum though putting the game on easy+high aim assist on a second run and going full rambo was lots of fun.

Would recommend this game to anyone and dont let the low plat % discourage you it's fun and not hard ^^

Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series Platinum #114

Difficulty: 1/10

 

There's not really too much about this game that I could say without spoiling it. All I'll really say is that I did this game as a break from the ultra rare trophies I have been doing for the past few months. It was a relaxing game that is incredibly easy to platinum, it has many of the same qualities as other Telltale games, with your decision making affecting how the game progresses. I personally always took Rocket Raccoon's side throughout the story, because he was the coolest character on the game. Either way, there's nothing special about this platinum but I recommend anyone to play it for an easy platinum and good story. I got it for $7.99 during the flash sale on PSN and it was definitely worth that amount.

Bought this one a while ago and finally got around to playing it. It was an alright game overall, the 'investigations' were really easy. It was really awkward how the main character would yell at all the other characters during them though. 

 

The game wasn't really what I was expecting, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Some of the routes were certainly... interesting to say the least.

Well now, THIS is an odd one.

 

This game is at heart a Mario Kart/Diddy Kong Racing game. And as one, it plays really well, ESPECIALLY considering its an indie title. The controls are good, the driving is smooth, the environments, while limited to four types, look great, all in all its a very well put together game. The music..... is sucky, with very unmemorable tracks littered throughout (though it doesn't help that many of the racers I played, like MK64, Diddy Kong Racing and Sonic All Stars have had legit GREAT music, making me notice more). I kinda wish we had more of variety of racers, but the limited selection of cute pudgy fat-ass bears is nice. It also supports four player split screen, which only adds more to that classic couch gaming feel. Really, the core game-play is really solid, and would have been a great kart racer for non-Nintendo owners.

 

Would have being the key phrase, as thanks to its lack of certain features, I just can't recommend.

 

The major one would be lack of online play. Yeah, it has local coop, which I know many people have asked for, but I also know they ask for this feature IN ADDITION to online, not in place of it. We're living in a day where couch coop just isn't an option for most, and those who DO have the time have already gone out and purchased a Nintendo system, if only for Mario Kart, a game that has more characters, stages, game-play modes, options, etc.

 

The trophy list is one of THOSE lists. One that's 90% easy breezy, 5% throw-your-controller hard, and 5% go buy extra shit. Yep, two of these trophies will really test you in how far you are willing to go for trophies, so if ANYTHING listed above sounds like a problem, I recommend steering clear.

Having been a huge fan of the original games, I have to say they did this game pretty well.  Even though some parts of it felt like they were ripped off from Call of Duty games, it still managed to feel a lot like Doom does in the end.  Plus, the BFG was glorious.

This game is a mixture of old school zelda and earthbound.
It is short (finished it in 5 hours and 30 minutes play time), but enjoyed it.
I think that the earthbound part really gives the charm to a game like this.

 

However, I am not the biggest fan of the old school zelda like games.
I think the bonus dungeon was pretty crappy limiting just to an arena mode.
And the game was overall pretty easy, puzzle and combat wise.
I enjoyed the overall package (even the zelda parts) thats why I recommend this game.

Oh and the physical play asia copy is cute!

I've said it before and I'll say it again: the Bioshock series is probably my favourite gaming series of all time. There's something special about these games that does it for me every time... no matter how many playthroughs I've done. This was actually only the 2nd time I've every played Bioshock 2 (originally played in 2010 on the 360 when it came out), and it is actually even better than I remembered.

 

Like all Bioshock games, this entry is oozing with atmosphere and the feeling of truly 'being there' in a way that is - in my opinion - practically unrivalled in the industry (TLoU and the recent GoW are others that do this for me). The art style, voice acting, music, sounds, characters and environments are all absolutely top-notch, and I thoroughly enjoy the combat; though I know it's not everyone's cup of tea. The story was also surprisingly touching - though lacking the gravitas and ground-breaking nature of Bioshock 1, it was more personal and touching here. The ending, in particular, was well done. The idea of being a Big Daddy is also handled very well, with the drill being a particular favourite; that drill dash never gets old  I also enjoyed the 'protector' segments (where you look after your little sister), and the way they call you 'Daddy' gets me every time haha. No way in heck could I ever harvest one of them...

 

Big sisters were another great addition to the game, and by the end I loved combining all my abilities and weapons to destroy them, haha. There are many combat improvements over Bioshock 1 as well: the camera works better, dual-wielding weapons/plasmids works very well, and all the adjustments feel great. Otherwise, there are minimal plasmid changes... Insect Swarm remains - in my opinion - the most powerful plasmid (crowd-control, damages etc), but you won't be disappointed with the options here. I also really liked the world-building here; the series always does it well, but the levels all felt great and were super fun to explore. Though maybe lacking the originality of the 1st game (places like Arcadia and Fort Frolic come to mind), they were still interesting and varied enough to keep my attention. It was still fun listening to the taunts of the 'overseer/villain' of each region and deciding how to go about dealing with them, haha.

 

I'd never played the DLC before either, and - to my amazement - it was excellent. Protector Trials was pretty straight forward (you're given a select weapon/plasmid load out and need to defend the little sister for a few minutes); if you know how combat works, you should have no trouble finishing each one with an A rating on the 1st try. However, Minerva's Den was where things got interesting. It was tough early on without any good weapons/plasmids (playing on hard), but by the end, the combat was even better than the base game. The new weapon (ion laser) and plasmid (gravity well) were worth the price of admission alone. However, the story was the real winner. I won't spoil anything in case you haven't played it, but the ending was beautiful  Play without spoilers if you can! Nothing crazy here, but well worth a play.

 

In summary, Bioshock 2 - despite being generally agreed to be the 'worst' in the series - is an excellent game (to be fair, when your 2 competitors are the masterpieces of Bioshock 1 and Bioshock Infinite, it's hard to be better than them :P). It's so much better than I remembered it being, and despite a few missteps and 'meh' moments, is well worth a play. 'Hard' isn't that hard compared to Bioshock 1, and playing without Vita chambers isn't really that bad. I died maybe 5 times in the whole game, and it didn't even matter as long as I saved regularly. You'll be able to get everything in 1 playthrough with no difficulties (apart from maybe 1 secret trophy in the early game which you wouldn't go for unless you knew about it), as long as you're merciful

 

If you haven't already, PLAY THIS SERIES. The PS4 collection is excellent value, and they're some of the greatest games of all time!

Three playthroughs later, I finally got the platinum . Ratchet & Clank is a stellar game hindered by hours of weapons grinding . Grinding weapons on the same spot over and over and over and over and over and over again was boring as heck, so I decided to blast through the story for the third time. Well, it turned out more fun and less tedious . The story is decent and comical, but this game's selling point is definitely the set of awesome weapons to try on enemies. The jet plane sections take some time to get used to, though. Thus, everyone--doesn't matter if you're an adult or not--should play this game.

In the days of the PS2 I played these to death!  When I seen the trilogy was on sale a while back for £6.99 crossbuy and that you get all vita and PS3 versions it had to be done!  The vita ones are getting done first due to the fact that vita ports are usually garbage for the most part.  This to my surprise actually ran really good and smooth!  The only annoyance was those shit hoverboard races with the awful vita controls!  Really enjoyed playing this timeless classic again and will be jumping right on 2 very soon and once the good ol originals are done time for the PS4 version which I hear is great.  Whole lotta nostalgia with these beauties

Back when I was playing it in 2016, the game never froze on me, but I did encounter an awful glitch, which made me do all challenges from scratch. It took me 8-9 hours to do all of them again ?. Still an amazing game, though.

I'd rather have a Love Shield. The power of love with none of the arguments or thrown dishes.

 

I've waited this port for a while now, since the PS4 version was pure 16-bit, nostalgic gold. This, I'll give silver at best.

The game is still the same, but technical issues keeps me praising this one much. More on those later.

Cosmic Star Heroine is a fast-ish paced RPG with SNES visuals. Gameplay owes hugely to greats Chrono Trigger and Secret of Evermore. Love those 

Style-wise it's futuristic cyberpunk, I guess. In many ways it looks and especially sounds like Blade Runner and its sequel. Again, much love 

Lots of references to games and films to be found. Particularly the police station level, which is a huge nod to Resident Evil 2, and this RE1 riff:

 

I surely hope this isn't Chris' blood. About that Jill-sandwich we were talking about earlier...

 

But, lo and behold, the devs had to drop the ball on this port. There's lag in menu and in walking, characters strut and jerk, load times are long.

Sometimes the game even goes to an almost complete halt, having me praying it doesn't crash. Why is it so? It's a 16-bit game on Vita, ffs 

Random freezes do occur, and one constant one. Leveling to 50 with my main Alyssa and clicking Abilities caused a crash four times in a row 

Cosmic Star Heroine is a fantastic title, just not on handheld. If you do have the option to choose, play it on PS4. Vita is love, but not today folks

12: Jak 3
I had already got the Platinum Trophy of The Precursor Legacy back in November, but months ago I had bought the other games of the Jak and Daxter Series to earn the Platinum Trophy of all of them. After Jak 2 (My 11th Platinum), today has been the turn of Jak 3: when I was a kid, Jak 3 was one of my favourites videogames of all time, and I never enjoyed Jak 2 so much... But this time, things were different: I still recognize the fact that Jak 3 is a perfect sequel for Jak 2, because it adds a lot of features (Such as a new city to walk in, the chance to drive cars, more weapons etc.), but it was like four years that I wasn't playing it, and in this run (The second time ever that I finish Jak 3, the first being in 2013) I found Jak 3 boring, in certain points, with the plot becoming confusing, and the plot of Jak 2 was way more enjoyable. By the way, it was good playing Jak 3 again, it's still a great game and will still be in a part of my heart (I own the Ps2 version of the game since 2005). And now, it's the turn of Jak X!

I'm not really fond of fighting games but I honestly really enjoyed this one. I personally found it easy to play and I loved so many of the characters in it. I mainly bought it just because of RWBY and Persona charaters lol. Anywho though, I definitely would recommend this game, especially if they think they're a little under average at fighting games. I got through a lot of this game button mashing and it all went in my favor.. lol. The story was pretty interesting too imo. But yeah. Really fun game. Would recommend. Also, Yang is bae. That is all.
