Popular Post DamagingRob
#404- Lollipop Chainsaw Legendary Zombie Hunter 100% Complete! Thank you for playing! KYC reviews for those interested: Day 1 & Final Review. Short version: very fun and crazy zombie game. Dialogue is hilarious a lot of the time. And I really loved the soundtrack. I mean, how can you not love You Spin Me Round (Like A Record) playing, while you mow down zombies in a tractor? A lot of cool and sexy outfits can be bought for Juliet, too. Since a Highschool of the Dead or Deadman Wonderland game seem highly unlikely, those outfits will have to do.

Popular Post GarciaFever
#192 Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel (PS4) Hmm I have very mixed feelings about this game. I've been a fan of the series, so when I heard that there was going to be a third one coming out soon, I just had to play this game and get the platinum as fast as possible. To begin with, the story seemed pretty much non existent, or it felt boring. It was great getting to know what happened to Handsome Jack and how be became the person that he is going into Borderlands 2 (as well as what happened to his face), but I still have questions. Who is the alien that you see at the beginning of the game? How is it connected to the Vault? and more of which I can't seem to recall at this time. The map system is arguably worse that in the previous instalments, especially when you arrive at the Helios Space Station, and you need to jump on to these small platforms with exact precision, otherwise you end up falling into your death. On top of that, you also need to watch your oxygen since, if you are playing as a human character, it will slowly drain while exploring, and you slowly begin to lose health over time unless you find an oxygen kit, or one of those ground pockets that shoot out air. Thankfully I reached level 50 while playing as Fragtrap (a Claptrap that can climb stairs and shoot guns) so I never had to worry about oxygen. But at the same time, his player skill is completely RNG based. There were times in which I kept on dying because I would always get a Vault.EXE program that never helps out, such as the Meat Unicycle (your start to fight using only your melee weapon instead of guns for a short amount of time). Trophy wise, it is a lot more tedious that the second one. The map exploration stuff sucked because of the aforementioned Helios Space Station, and it took me a long time to figure out what spot I needed to discover since, when scouring through ever place, there wasn't any blacked out spots. Just like in the second game, the Challenger trophy made a return, where you had to complete the level 1 of all challenges, which can range anywhere from certain weapon kills, loot and money, elemental stuff, and so forth. There are 2 things that made this trophy worse: the Shotgun challenge and the Luneshine challenge. In order to unlock one of the shotgun challenges, you need to get another challenge to level 5 (which is getting a total of 750 shotgun kills and point blank range). Seeing as almost every shotgun consumes anywhere from 2-4 ammo every time you fire, you end up reloading almost every 5 seconds depending on the clip size. Now because this game takes places on the moon, all of the eridium has been replaced with moonstones. At one point in the game, you will complete a quest in which allows you to use the grinder: a vending machine that can creates a new weapon by combining 3 of the same type of weapon. Sometimes you end up with a gun that is better than what you already have, other times it spits out garbage. In one of the challenges, you need to create 20 Luneshine weapons (which makes the weapon look shiny and gives additional benefits like bonus XP from enemies, increased weapon damage by 10%, etc.). However, you need to spend moonstones in order to create a luneshine weapon, and it is also RNG-based. The higher your character's level, the more moonstones you need to spend. I had to constantly close the application via the XMB menu on my PS4 whenever I didn't get a luneshine weapon. To finish off my rant, I would say to steer clear from this game unless you are a fan of the series. There is nothing interesting about the story with the exception of some cameos here and there.

Popular Post Arcesius
Platinum #54 – Hollow Knight 100% Enjoyment: 10/10 100% Challenge: 7/10 Hollow Knight is the first game by Team Cherry, an Australian game developer trio that just freaking nailed their first project. It's for games like these that we should be grateful Kickstarter is a thing. However, this is also one of those games that wants you to do a PhD on it to understand its lore (alternatively, like myself, you could also spend countless hours watching Youtube-videos and still not understand anything… So Hornet is NOT Void, correct? ?)… But don't let that scare you off. This game is a must-play, and I don't say that lightly. 100% Enjoyment Let's discuss the negatives of the game first. OK, now that that's out of the way we can focus on the positive aspects, starting with the overall atmosphere of the game. Somber music already accompanies the starting scenes, where we witness the arrival of our Knight to Hallownest, the location where the game takes place. And it is the music, not only here but throughout the entire game that I cannot praise enough. You can find recurrent themes linking characters together (such as Hornet and the Pale King), though the musical connection may not be obvious (but it is there). It is this kind of environmental and atmospheric storytelling that lets a player really dive into the gameworld, letting it seem consistent within itself. But musical themes are also used otherwise to evoke certain feelings in many situations. The most prominent and positive example I can recall is the humming bug Cornifer, a cartographer. See, in this game, you don't have a map from the beginning. Instead, the first time you meet Cornifer he'll hand you over an empty map, which then gets upgraded as you progress through each area. But whenever you enter a new area, you need to explore it blindly… Due to the intricate level layouts, now having a map often means not knowing how to return there in case of death, which can make you nervous and agitated… It is in this situation that hearing the distant humming of Cornifer can evoke a feeling of relief, knowing that he needs to be somewhere close, ready to hand you over a map in exchange for a couple of Geo (the currency in this game). I would always be so happy to hear Cornifer. ? Let's move on. I don't think I need to mention how Hollow Knight does visually… But just in case: It is freaking gorgeous. I cannot recall a more beautiful game than this, with so much attention to detail, with rather simple character models on really complex backgrounds, which works very in favor of the overall look of the game while not overexciting the player. Each of the areas (and there are WAY more than I thought in the beginning...) feels unique. This is of course also thanks to the distinct visual details and enemies found in each area, from the rainy but noble City of Tears to the dark, claustrophobic and frightening Deepnest, filled with crawling enemies attacking from the dark. ? And this ties to the next point… This game is HUGE. It starts off small enough, sure, but since it is a metroidvania, you'll soon start to find upgrades and powers that open up new paths. And lemme tell you, there are a LOT of those upgrades waiting to be found. I would often find myself trying to finish up exploring an area, knowing where I wanted to go next, only to stumble upon the next upgrade that now allowed me to, for example, bath in acid… Well, forget what I wanted to do, I just unlocked another 3 completely new areas ? I am not exaggerating, I was genuinely surprised and overwhelmed by the sheer size of Hallownest. This is where I really need to mention something: If you pick up this game, please, PLEASE do yourself a favor and play blind… There are no missable trophies, and you won't regret it (well, except for one point, but more on that later… fucking Zote ?). So what about gameplay? The Knight starts off with a nail ( = sword) that does a slashing attack. With time, you unlock up to three special nail arts that need to be charged before unleashing them, and three different spells, of which only one grants some invincibility frames. The consequence is that even though there are not different classes to choose from, there certainly are various viable playstyles. To complement the preferred playstyle, many charms can be found all over Hallownest of which only a handful can be equipped at any given time. So you could make your nail strike faster or stronger, run faster, heal for double health but at a slower pace, or have a useless flower shield circle around you. Finding synergies between these charms allows to find interesting and powerful builds (or, you know, meme builds if that's your thing). Combat is fast and challenging, with overall about 42 bosses to be fought in this game and a ton of different enemies, varying in complexity. But you'll need to be on your toes at all times, since even the weakest enemies deal one mask of damage, and the Knight "only" has up to 9 masks of health (when fully upgraded). Let's talk about value for a second. The game came out a while ago for PC, and has since seen three free expansion packs, which are all included in the PS4 Voidheard edition. At the laughably low launch price of 15$, this game is criminally undervalued. Myself, I got about 80 hours of gaming that are among my most enjoyable hours I spent on the PS4. In addition to being that fantastic, seeing that even at this price there are only about 14k owners on PSNP (counting NA and EU together) is pretty incomprehensible. ? 100% Challenge Honestly if not for the Godmaster content, the third expansion of Hollow Knight, this game would be a 4/10 in difficulty, with only one of three trials found in the game being genuinely challenging. Most trophies are awarded for maximizing health and soul meters, killing certain bosses and simply finishing the game. The in-game bestiary needs to be completed as well, all travel stations need to be opened and 112% in-game completion needs to be achieved. Nothing too complicated. And then there is the Godmaster content, a series of five pantheons, i.e., boss rushes, that need to be beaten. The first three pantheons are rather easy to complete and consist 10 bosses each, although each pantheon has a last boss that could not be fought in the main game, so those might be a surprise the first time around. However, Team Cherry also included the so-called Hall of Gods,a practice hall of sorts where each boss already encoutered at some point can be fought in isolation. The fourth pantheon again consists of 10 bosses, but those are nine of the most difficult bosses of the main game, followed by the Pure Vessel, a more aggressive and faster version of the final boss of the game, which also deals double damage. This is the first real difficulty spike, as practicing Pure Vessel can take hours before it can be beaten consistently. But the main platinum breaker is of course the fifth and last pantheon, the Pantheon of Hallownest. In there, you will be fighting all 42 bosses found in the game IN A ROW, but either stronger versions or with modified arenas to make the fight harder. There is a bench to heal up every 5 bosses, but sitting on it won't save the game. It's dying and starting all over again. This is most certainly an endurance test, culminating in the three bosses Nightmare King Grimm, Pure Vessel and Absolute Radiance, powered-up version of King Grimm, The Hollow Knight and The Radiance, respectively. Those three bosses alone need hours and hours of practice, as they all deal double damage and are incredibly fast. Now imagine getting to this trio after having spent 45 minutes beating the other 39 bosses (of which many are no joke either… I'm looking at you, Markoth and Zote ?). Personally, I spent About 5 hours practicing Absolute Radiance. It took me 2 hours alone to beat her for the first time. About 5 hours practicing Pure Vessel and Nightmare King Grimm About 3 hours practicing all other bosses About 8 hours attempting the Pantheon of Hallownest. So remember how I mentioned regretting saving Zote before? That is because in the last group of five bosses, Markoth is followed by Grey Prince Zote, which gotta be the biggest troll boss in the game. Not saving him in the main game makes him not appear in the pantheon… How often did I wish I had let him die, lemme tell you! ? But even though this seems to be an unsurmountable challenge at first, it is certainly doable with practice. You'll get very consistent with enough practice. During my last five attempts at the pantheon, one run ended with Markoth, but I reached the final boss the other four times. My nerves didn't play along during three of those runs, and I choked during the very last phase of the fight, which felt incredibly cruel and left me shaking in disbelief. But like with all other challenges, it's only a matter of perseverance, of not giving up. And in the end, I once more climbed the stairs to the final boss, I kept my cool, and I finally ascended the pantheon, destroying Absolute Radiance. Team Cherry, Silksong is a no-brainer pre-order. What you have accomplished here is astonishing. Well done. ?

Popular Post AtomicAltruism
X-Men Origins: Wolverine Platinum (You collected all the trophies in Wolverine) Platinum: #47 Firstly i would like to thank diskdocx for his written guide on playstationtrophies it helped a bunch, especially with the (Devil's Brigade) trophy so thank you. (Not sure how to call him out on a forum but i know it can be done) Secondly Wolverine is still a kickass adaptation of the movie, even after 10 years. It's a fun hack and slash with some platforming sprinkled in for good measure. (The platforming sections were the weak link here... Hit and miss y'know) It doesn't shy away from the cheese and my main man Jackman even did the voice over yea boi! Hard playthrough had some hard parts and the final boss fight with Weapon 11 was hell, (because of the platforming/jump mechanic i spoke of earlier is messy and unresponsive at best) But i'm so happy to have this on my list after all these years. ? Popular Post Viper
#167 Just Cause 4 Rico was Here So so so so sooooooo disappointed in this game. I loved JC2, I enjoyed JC3 outside of the challenges, and thought it was a step in the right direction. I thought....and I think a lot of other people thought...Avalanche was trying to create the quintessential Destruction Simulator sandbox series. I figured that we were going to get away from specific target objects being the focus of what can he destroyed and that they would try to focus on EVERYTHING being destructible...it would have set this series apart from other open world games and just seemed like the trajectory they were on.But I was very wrong....with JC4 they went in the complete opposite direction. JC3 introduced a sort of physics based sand box, where objects would interact with things depending on how you set things up and approached them....and that was great. At least, it would have been if they kept going towards destruction being the major focus. Instead in JC4 they doubled down on the physics stuff....and destruction really takes a back seat in this game. They tried to introduce us to your tether being heavily modded with things like boosters and balloons and those, in it of itself, could be further modded. But they get really old after awhile...and you just wish you could have the grenades and C4 back and make big booms! On top of that...the challenges in JC3 are what kept me from the Platinum. They were annoying, and there were too many of them, and it got to the point where I was having ZERO fun, so I gave up on that Platinum. Doing my research for this game, I thought the challenges were gone...which was a huge plus. But not only are they NOT gone, they were renamed to stunts, and there's THREE TIMES AS MANY! You had about 150 to do in JC3, there's like 475 to do in this game. The only difference being, is that in JC4 they're super easy to complete...but they aren't fun to do at all. They just serve as an unnecessary nuisance,,,and there nearly 500 of them. Which is this games big flaw...it's just not fun. The progression structure is just so repetitive. It's complete a take over mission (which are the same 3 or 4 types of missions over and over), discover the locations in that region, do all the stunts for those locations, advance your squad. Rinse and repeat over and over. The story is probably the best one yet...I actually liked the characters, the voice acting was good and it played out like an over the top action film....but it was brought down by just not being a fun game to play where the appeal of the series (destruction) really isn't there outside of needing to destroy things for a trophy...the average non-trophy hunter, wouldn't have much of a reason to destroy things. I'm going to be very cautious about JC5. If Avalanche is just trying to give us even more stunts/challenges, and up the physics sandbox crap instead of focusing on what drew people to this franchise in the first place...then I'm not going to touch it. Popular Post StraightVege
Bleh, bleh, bleh! #199 - Hotel Transylvania 3: Monsters Overboard I'm completely unfamiliar with the franchise, but couldn't resist a fun and easy platinum. This title certainly met those criteria, despite having the flaws you'd expect to find in a licensed kid's game. The biggest problem is the total lack of an in-level map—you can only view the map when on the cruise ship, between timed excursions to the game's three islands. Coupled with the claustrophobic, isometric camera perspective, this can make navigation a real headache. What a puzzling design choice! It doesn't help that the player character tortures you, by endlessly repeating the same voice lines as you wander about. I've heard the gameplay in HT3 is similar to Pikmin, but I've never played that, so I can't comment. In any case, you command a small army of four different "Impa" creature types in an RTS fashion, each with unique abilities, to defeat enemies and solve simple puzzles. Unfortunately, they tend to get stuck on the environment and disappear, especially on the final island. The control scheme is also pretty clunky, and makes recalling each type of Imp to your side a chore. There's no challenge to speak of, either: once you find a few upgrades, your little monsters annihilate everything. It's still pretty satisfying to sic your horde on the limited enemy varieties, though. As simple and repetitive as it was, I nevertheless found this jaunt to another platinum quite relaxing and enjoyable, for whatever reason. I'm really glad I got over the need to have only "hardcore real games" on my profile a long time ago. In the past, I would've have been irrationally embarrassed to play stuff like this, and would have missed out on a lot of interesting games as a result. From beginning to end, my total time was 3 hours, 27 minutes (1st place). I don't know how I managed to be the fastest achiever for 3 platinums in a row, but it'll probably never happen again!
