Popular Post freddie1989
#150 - Far Cry 5 Finally I got to my next milestone (shame I only cared from 100 onwards)!! What a way to hit it, an absolute gem of a game for the series. The story is great, the characters all fit nicely into it and it is an all round enjoyable journey! Still got to do DLC for it but I will get round to them at some point. Next up will be finishing off Detroit and making ground on Mortal Kombat X!! Popular Post Dokusha
#105: Fatal Twelve ~Twelve Weeks, Twelve Persons, Twelve Elections~ How far would you go if you were given a shot at earning a second chance at life? Fatal Twelve asks us this question, introducing us to twelve unfortunate souls who have passed away before they were really 'supposed to'. Instead of moving on to whatever afterlife awaits them, however, they all find themselves in a surreal dream world where a being calling herself the Goddess of Fate Parca tells them that they have been granted the right to participate in an event known as Divine Selection. Win the Divine Selection, and your death will be undone. However, there can only be one winner, and the participants are to eliminate each other through weekly elections... I found the story premise fascinating. It's rather similar in idea to death game stories like Zero Escape or Danganronpa, but different in that you're not killing people, you're 'merely' denying them a chance at resurrection. It raises a lot of interesting philosophical questions, and I'm not sure how I would act were I placed in such a situation. Another thing I found rather lovely was the means by which candidates are to elect others: by finding out their name, their cause of death, and their regret. Information quite literally is a weapon in this game, and characters are often exceedingly wary in what they feel comfortable saying to other participants, lest a careless comment accidentally leads the others to deduce vital information about them. It helps that Fatal Twelve boasts a strong cast of memorable characters, with my particular favourites being Odette, Alan, and Sofiya - although sadly the heroine of the game, Rinka Shishimai, is the weakest link out of them all. She isn't -terrible-, please don't get me wrong, but oh my goodness does she make a lot of silly mistakes and stupid decisions. One point of the story had me yelling at my television because of how easily her present conundrum could've been solved had she taken the time to think for five seconds! It's a sad trend in quite a few Japanese games to have excellent casts weighed down somewhat by bland or stupid protagonists, and I sincerely hope this trend will disappear soon. Luckily, Fatal Twelve did seem to have realised the weakness of its protagonist, for it often segues into bits where you see the story from the viewpoint of other characters. By the time the story is exclusively from Rinka's point of view, she has undergone sufficient character development for it not to sting. Trophy-wise, this is of course a visual novel, so all you have to do in order to get your paws on its ever so sparkly platinum is follow a guide which tells you how to obtain all CGs and endings. I had a decent time with Fatal Twelve, overall. It's not my favourite visual novel, but it's hardly the worst I've read either - it's just good. Decent. And that's okay, I'd say! Popular Post ShonenCat
Platinum #42 - Senran Kagura: Estival Versus Difficulty Rating 3/10 Enjoyment Rating 7/10 Uncommon - 31.69% This series should need no introduction. Chances are you’ve heard it’s name somewhere once or twice. But for those who don’t have a clue, Senran Kagura is about shinobi girls with big tiddies and phat asses. It’s as serious as it is silly as well. The series spans across multiple genres, but it’s most common one is either beat em up or hack and slash. Estival Versus is part of that genre. This is the second game I’ve experienced in this franchise, first being Shinovi Versus, which I highly recommend you play first so you get to know the characters and their backgrounds much better. Estival Versus does a poor job explaining to new players the relationships between certain characters. Or maybe you’re just in it for the tiddies, which is fine too ? But Senran Kagura has a super serious side in it’s main story when the girls aren’t up to their flirty frolics. It’s a story worth checking out should you have a Vita on hand in order to experience Shinovi Versus first. Estival Versus has a platinum that’s not as difficult as Shinovi Versus. You’ll play the main story, destroying 80 festival stands along the way as collectibles. Then you’ll play every girl’s individual 5 episode story. Once all that’s finished, you’ll grind for money in order to buy everything in the shop. But not everything is in the shop upon booting up the game for the first time. You’ll unlock stuff while you go through all of the game’s story content. One thing to be on the lookout for is any signs in the environment with explanation marks on them. This signifies you can pull off a “creative finisher.” Simply finish off the opponent boss near the sign and it should unlock that particular cutscene for the shop. There are several of these throughout the game across many maps and any mission can be replayed at anytime to try for them again and again. The trophy guide says you only need a select few of these, but I beg to differ, I had to unlock ALL OF THEM. This could also be because I was playing on a newer update, so something to be aware of. The guide covers version 1.06 and I have version 1.21 ? As far as favorite girls go, I find the main cast the most enjoyable. That being those of Hanzo National Academy. If I had to choose one of the five, I would say I love Hibari the most ^^ She is always rocking that PE uniform, which wins me over quite easily. Also, she has a very sweet and caring personality mixed with a good amount of ditziness, making her an ideal waifu. That girl will put a smile on your face and has one of the more prominent butts in the series, plus plenty of ninja arts that involve using it too. Gotta love a girl with some serious cake The next Senran Kagura game on my list is Peach Beach Splash, which looks like a jolly good time if I do say so myself But whether you’re in it for the tiddies, the story, or both, you really can’t go wrong with Senran Kagura. Only otaku with very open minds may apply Edited November 9, 2019 by ShonenCat

Popular Post Spinosaurus Rex
PLATINUM #137 - DETROIT: BECOME HUMAN Difficulty: 2/10 | Platinum enjoyment: 6.5/10 | Game enjoyment: 8/10 | Plat tier: RARE The latest heavy story reliant game from David Cage, Detroit: Become Human may be objectively the best "playable movie" you can find on PSN. As a truly mature game, nothing here is black and white and both sides (humans and androids) aren't completely justified for their actions. There's no "golden ending" where everybody lives happily together. There's several "Karma houdini" people who were jerkasses and nothing happened to them for their actions. The best possible ending requires much more thinking than Heavy Rain's best ending. I'd call this game a crossover of Heavy Rain, The Walking Dead (Telltale) and Game of Thrones (Telltale), as you take control of several characters, one with a harmless kid (TWD) and there are a lot of stressful moments where you know you are in a big mess, like in GOT. I'm really glad this game came on PS+, it was a gigantic surprise. Gameplay-wise, it doesn't show anything innovative, but it functions well. Kara is an emotional part of the game with biggest load of QTE, Connor is a smart mystery detective guy which heavy relies on "researching clues" aspect known from Batman series and he's probably most fun character to play, whereas Marcus sits somewhere between them. Expect a gigantic amount of branching paths, surpassing every "playable movie" ever made. It's so huge, developers decided to give us a chart for every chapter with every path visible, which was a great idea. Platinum was less tedious than I thought (more enjoyable than Heavy Rain and MUCH more enjoyable than Beyond: Two Souls), but still not as enjoyable as it could be. You can't skip any dialogues even after completing the game, so prepare yourself to watch the same scene over and over, especially if you'd like to uncover most branching paths. And especially if you have your first playthrough blind. Spoiler If I'd have to choose the most emotional moment, it'd be either Kara & Alice at the recycling camp, especially Alice silently pleading for help and waiting for dead Kara to somehow become alive and save her from death, or Kara, Alice and Luther begging border officer for mercy, as they only want to live peacefully and not harm anyone, and then look at TV where Marcus is peacefully demonstrating. Or the scene after passing the river by boat, where they have to say goodbye to their passing companions. There's too many to count, but most of them concerns Kara. On the other hand, the scene where Perkins tricks Marcus and call him an idiot for ending the demonstration and hoping everything will be OK was a moment where you feel absolute hatred for virtual person. Popular Post Kristycism
#118 - The Last of Us Remastered It can't be for nothing Enjoyment: 10/10 Difficullty: 8/10 (for Grounded mode, because I suck at stealth) Even though it hasn't been that long since I played the game on PS3, I decided just to jump in again on PS4 since it was free on PS+ and I figured there's be new people trying the MP who I could hopefully stand a chance against to get all the trophies on my own without boosting (and I did, yay! But only because they're so much easier than the PS3 equivalents...can't imagine I'd have had the skills to get any of those if I hadn't boosted....). It's funny, with a lot of games, once you've played through the story once, you know what happens, so any time a cutscene comes up you're like "eh whatever, I know what's happening anyway." But with this game, I felt like a lot of the scenes got more emotional each time I played through the game (this will be my 5th time, as I did 3 on PS3 and 2 PS4). I guess because you know how things are going to turn out later, scenes that didn't have as much of an emotional impact suddenly do. For instance, the opening scenes, when I first played through them on PS3 I didn't really care because I hadn't got to know the characters so well. But in each subsequent playthrough, the opening scenes made me more and more emotional, to the point I now tear up before they even start because I know what's coming! Same with some other scenes, though I don't want to name them because spoilers (though, at this point, most people should have played through the game anyway). Those who have played will know which ones I'm talking about though... The ending as well - you know an ending to a story is good when it leaves you thinking. I go back and forth on whether or not this is how I wanted it to end, and what one of the characters is thinking (again, don't want to say more because spoilers). Most games, once the story is over, you move on to a new game and don't think about the old one again, but I've been thinking about the ending since I played the PS3 version, and playing again on PS4 just makes me think even more, really. As for the Factions Multiplayer - given how much I suck at stealth, and how I never really play MP, I should really have disliked it. I mean, I sucked at it for sure, but I actually still enjoyed my time with it for the most part. I think because there's still a sense of progression even when you do horribly, it feels better and like you're still achieving something towards your goal? It would probably have been more enjoyable to play with friends, but most people I know have already finished the game years ago, so I didn't really have anyone to play with. Still, the players you do come across are alright for the most part, though there are some salty people who just quit as soon as they start to lose, moan about how sh*t everyone is in their mics constantly, or try to message you abuse then realise you have your messages set to private so they sent you a friend request with an abusive message instead. But those are few and far between (in fact, I think two out of the three times it happened, it was the same guy). Anyway, now that both versions are complete, roll on The Last of Us 2!!!!
Guest
For an android/robot game, Nier Automata gives you a ‘rainbow of emotions and tsunami of thoughts’ to process as you play. The less colorful graphics are more than made up for in the smooth, fun, and challenging gameplay, not to mention the obvious eye candy that never gets old. The varied original soundtrack with ever changing moods is enough to make you want to play it over and over. There is so much meaning, humor, drama, heart, PERSONALITY and realistic shock to go along with the action that it becomes addicting in every way imaginable. Flawless execution of all the best elements in gaming make NieR: Automata an absolute masterpiece. It is one of those games that entirely justifies the cost of a new PS4. It did me so much good to play it. I want to play it again. What a great experience! 10/10 from me.

Popular Post Carol
#172 Dishonored Platinum Blades and Dark Corners You have mastered the City of Dunwall and unlocked all Trophies This game was part of the IGC some time ago and I always saw it receiving so much praise, that I knew I had to play it, especially because I love stealth. "Dishonored" is, indeed, a truly awesome game and a must-play, if you are a stealth fan! Going through all the game without ever killing or alerting anyone is a fantastic sensation and a proof that a game can be pacific, without having to be a walking simulator! Although a lot of saving and trial and error are, naturally, necessary, the stealth isn't that hard, but it's very rewarding! Using the powers - especially Blink - is also a lot of fun! Unfortunately, a chaotic playthrough is also mandatory for the platinum. I didn't enjoy this playthrough as much as my stealth one, because I don't think this is how the game is supposed to be played. I don't like having to kill a lot of people and causing so much chaos and misfortune, when I can just go through the levels undetected. But, yeah, I chose to be a trophy hunter, so I can't complain. I hear that one of this game's DLCs is very hard, but the platinum was pretty straightforward and the lack of annoying collectibles was also a plus! I'm glad I went back to my PS3 to play this game and I'm looking forward to playing the PS4 Dishonored games in the future! It seems to be a very good series!
