Popular Post Arcesius
Platinum #64 – Superhot VR 100% Enjoyment: 6.5/10 100% Challenge: 5.5/10 Superhot has, apparently, been a thing for a couple of years now, but since I usually don't play FPS games, I just didn't know anything about it. However, while looking for a reason to take my PSVR out of the drawer, I somehow stumbled upon its VR version. And while I didn't find it as amazing as the reviews suggested, it is still an innovative concept that works really well in VR. 100% Enjoyment I didn't exactly know what I was getting myself into with this game. I knew that it was supposed to be good, a must-play VR experience, a rather unique game. And indeed, I was pleasantly surprised! You know, I rarely play shooters, and when I do I prefer them in third person view. FPS is just not my jam, and adding VR to a fast-paced FPS would probably not have been the right game for me. Luckily, Superhot VR is not primarily an FPS! Well, I say primarily because you are in first person, and you shoot things… ? But there is a twist! So what is this game if not an FPS? Well, I would say a puzzle game. You see, the game is split into 19 chapters, and in each chapter you need to "solve" different scenes. They are all different, but in essence you face several Red Dudes (as they are called) that want to kill you, and you need to kill them first. The Reds are usually equipped with either ranged fire weapons, knives or hatchets, or will run towards you trying to punch you in the face. It's one hit and you're dead, but that also holds for the Reds. Now comes the gimmick… Time stands still as long as you don't move, and only flows when you move, and only as fast as you move! ? That's right. Initially you can stand completely still and simply study the scene. Where are the Reds positioned? What weapons do they have on them? What weapons are available to me for this scene? Then you slowly reach out for the Uzi on your right while observing how the Reds slowly move or shoot in your direction. You grab the Uzi while simultaneously bending your body to avoid incoming bullets, feeling like Neo in the process, and then start shooting the Reds yourself. And that's not just my imagination, have a look at the image for the trophy "The Chosen One" ? Trophy Image: The Chosen One Depending on the scene you might have no ranged weapons available and have to resort to melee combat or could even try to defeat some Reds by throwing knives or throwing stars at their heads. Now, if this sounds like it could be a good workout… It's not (it took me quite a while to unlock the trophy for "burning 1000 calories, soooo... ?). You'll duck behind cover and whatnot, but mostly in a snail tempo - with two challenges being an exception, but more on that later. Now, this concept works really well also thanks to the minimalistic artstyle. Everything is very abstract but clearly identifyable: The entire background is white-gray'ish, the enemies are red and everything you can pick up is black, so no chance for confusion. Otherwise, the game is on the short side. There is a trophy for playing the entire game in one sitting, so I decided to start this game on a day where I knew I would be home all morning. Well, even going in blind, I only needed 1.5 hours to finish the campaign… However, there is quite some replayability thanks to the challenges that are unlocked after finishing the game for the first time, though we'll go into those in the 100% challenge section. On the technical side, the motion detection was alright, but didn't really work as well as I'd hoped. Especially trying to grab nearby weapons while ducking behind cover often resulted in frustration. Maybe the room I play VR in doesn't allow for an optimal distance to the camera, but this issue was more noticeable here than with other VR games I've played. Overall, Superhot VR is a good VR experience that I can recommend if you can grab the game on a sale. In the original Superhot, time flows when you move your character with the regular controller. Here, you need to control your whole body, and I imagine this being way more fun than without VR. However, I didn't find it as spectacular as the reviews suggested and I don't think I'll be playing the regular Superhot, but I sure had some fun during my time with it. Fortunately, it is also rather short, so it doesn't overstay its welcome. 100% Challenge Now, it is one thing to do "crazy shit" in games with a controller (tight jumps in Super Meat Boy, fast reactions in Trackmania Turbo, keeping the beat in Crypt of the NecroDancer…), but really only your fingers are doing the stuff. It is an entire different thing when you have to complete challenging tasks while being aware of your entire body, and this is what I mostly enjoy about VR (and the reason why Beat Saber is my favorite VR game, and not something like Astro Bot, for example). That being said, my rating is probably gonna be polarizing (again…). I guess if a trophy guide was made, it would surely be rated at a 7-8/10. HOWEVER, personally I didn't have too many issues with the game, and despite having to clear the entire game and seven different challenge modes, I still got the platinum in about 10 hours. In my book, that's rather on the easy side, so a 5.5 it is. ? Now, why do I think that this could be rated higher? Completing the game should be feasible, and playing the game in one sitting is also straightforward, especially since the game is rather short. Most other trophies come from killing Red Dudes with different guns, and there is one trophy for getting all hidden disks, which sucks as a trophy especially since the disks are hidden INSIDE objects. So you need to slowly approach say a vase, and penetrate it with your head. Remember, you are physically doing this with your entire body, so good luck trying not to bump into your TV or your couch table or whatever it is that you have lying around. So let's say you've gotten all of the above trophies… Now the fun starts. There are seven different challenges to complete. With most of the challenges you can complete the challenge for each chapter individually, though there are two challenges that require you to play the entire game in one sitting: No-Death Challenge: You need to complete the entire game from start to finish without dying. Yep, you cannot be hit by anything, so try to take the shotgun-weilding dudes out first... 10 Minute Challenge: You need to complete the entire game from start to finish IN 10 MINUTES REAL TIME. Remember how I mentioned that the game took me 1.5 hours to finish the first time around? Well, now do that same thing but in 10 minutes. Sounds tough, doesn't it? Luckily, I saved this challenge for last and by the time I attempted it I knew the levels inside out. I got it on my second attempt. The other challenges can be tackled chapter by chapter: Sniper Challenge: Here only headshots kill the Reds. Doesn't matter if you shoot them with a bullet or a knife, but it needs to be the head. There are a couple of chapters that needed some retries since I would run out of bullets, but overall this challenge ain't so bad. Hardcore Challenge: Each weapon has only one shot and enemies move faster (still only when you move or shoot, though). This is the first challenge I completed, and it wasn't all that difficult once you get used to the faster speed. No Guns Challenge: Well, try playing an FPS without guns. Yep, you just need to kill Reds by throwing knives, bottles or guns at them. As I mentioned above motion detection wasn't always on point, and even having platted the game I still can't accurately throw objects. Still, this wasn't too bad. Speedrun Game-Time: These two speedrun challenges were the toughest ones. In the Game-Time challenge you need to complete each individual chapter under a given in-game time. Remember, time only flows when you move, so this challenge is about moving as little as possible, and being as accurate as possible. There were a couple of chapters that required quite a few retries, as the timer was so tight that I needed to be perfect and not miss a single shot even at a great distance. Speedrun Real-Time: Hardest, but also the most fun challenge. In contrast to the Game-Time challenge, here you need to complete each chapter as fast as possible but in real time. So instead of moving as little and as slowly as possible, you need to know the chapter by heard and kill the Reds as fast as you can. Here you really feel like a badass with god-like reflexes and foresight, and this is also the only challenge that made me sweat and felt like a workout, but it was also a lot of fun. Popular Post madbuk
#355 - Pic-a-Pix Color I bought this over a year ago to play on Vita, and I enjoyed my time with it then but didn't bother stacking it at the time. Recently however I saw someone else playing it and got a sudden urge to redo it. The wonderful thing about picross puzzles is that it's very easy to forget the solutions to everything. I can go back to a Professor Layton game and remember how to solve a lot of the puzzles, but here, a single puzzle can have 400 different squares that you need to remember the colour of - and there are 150 puzzles. Although it was more suited to Vita imo, I still enjoyed my time with it on PS4. I'm not sure I'm ever going to stack Pieces, but maybe someday.

Enjoyment: 6.5 Difficulty: 3 Ahh you saved me time messing with images etc. Me too with Metropolis Lux Obscura as my latest plat! For me enjoyment was an 8. I love noir tales. Yes its trying to be Sin City but hell i enjoyed the characters and especially the artwork cos i enjoy curvaceous ladies. Difficulty was id say a 3 as well. Its not difficult, its just luck. Altho there is some strategy to the longer fights. You dont have to work barely at all for nearly all but maybe 1 or 2 trophies.
Popular Post eigen-space
Platinum #90 - Marvel's Spider-Man Be Greater, 49.09% Rarity Difficulty - 4/10 , Time Spent - ~40 Hours , Enjoyment 7/10 The Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man! This game had a lot of stuff going on with it... beat-em-up fun, stealth missions, web-slinging race courses, science puzzles... lots and lots of stuff to keep one entertained. One may actually say there is *too* much stuff going on with the game. There are definitely a lot of things to do that can seem grindy, especially the 150+ street crimes (why?!?!). My favorite parts of the game were definitely the Spider-Man stealth missions (wasn't thrilled about the MJ and Miles bits) and the spectrograph/circuit puzzles. Of course, the graphics in the game are great and all the mechanics in the game are superb. The fighting and swinging are super smooth. Music and sound effects were also top-notch. One area that could have been with the story; perhaps it's because I don't know anything about Spider-Man beyond what the game presented, but I seemed to be missing a lot of backstory on many of the villains. Haven't played the DLC as of now, but I will be going back to it after a short break to play a couple other games.
Guest
Difficulty: 3/10 Enjoyment: 6/10 I mean, I'm not even a huge Star Wars fan in the first place. The movies are fun but I've never read a book/comic or watched any of the other shows. I was excited about the game because of the trailers and everyone saying it was an uncharted/Soulsborne hybrid but all they stole from Uncharted was climbing/traversal and all they stole from soulsborne is lock-on combat and ganking. I'm not gonna go into great detail about it cause my opinion is worthless, but I thought the game was just kinda fine. Didn't care about the story or anyone in it that wasn't already an established-lore character. Combat was pretty fun but gets boring because there's barely any diversity in the enemy types, and also they decided for whatever reason, probably to pad the game out, to leave out fast travel which was incredibly unnecessary. I would understand if they left out fast travel between planets, but they didn't need to keep fast travel out of the meditation spots on planets. They even had mini-fast travel with the bird from the Wookie planet who would transport you to 2-3 different places depending where you were; so they had the technical ability, but just decided against it. The absolute worst part of the platinum was painstakingly watching and following along with youtube videos step-for-step to get the collectibles, but I can't hold that fully against the game. If it wasn't for the boring and tedious collectible aspect, I would have had a much better time with the platinum. guy_flies
Days Gone. I understand the criticisms this game received, and I somewhat agree with many of them, but I thoroughly enjoyed the 60 or so hours I spent with it and making it my 20th platinum.

Popular Post FluffyAssassin64
#121 - Goat Simulator "All The Goat!" Unlock all the Goat Trophies! This may be one of the most average games I've played in a long time Picked it up with PS+ on a whim, and got basically what I expected... a bit of a laugh mixed with a healthy dose of frustration. There's certainly some random, chaotic fun to be had - some missions are very absurd, in a good way - but for every moment of fun there was an equal and opposite annoyance. One moment you're hanging onto a hang-glider with your tongue, and the next you're trying for 30 seconds to get onto a boat out of the water because the controls, and graphics & physics engines, don't hold up. Perhaps the best example of this idea is the jet-pack. It's ridiculous how far and fast you can fly (leading to some laughs), but then I realised it took away a lot of my other movement options and often put my on the complete other side of the map from what I wanted. Again, I know this is part of the 'charm' of the game, but that doesn't make it enjoyable in my opinion. Overall, I had less and less fun the more I played Goat Simulator. The first 1-2 hours was crazy and enjoyable as I figured out the mechanics and some ridiculous things you could do, but then the tedium and frustration started to set in. With such a short game, that's a problem in my view. There is a heap of DLC available, but I'm not spending $9 AUD each for something that could just as easily frustrate as excite. The saving grace for trophy hunters (you and me both) is that everything is super easy. Basically it's just a matter of doing a few ridiculous tasks, and a bit of collecting, and you've got the plat. The one exception to this is the truly awful 'Flappy Goat' mini-game trophy. I didn't think it looked too bad at first, but it took me probably 45 minutes to finally get it. I guess you could say it's hard... but I'd argue it's more just frustrating and tedious; especially when it takes as long as 1/4 of the game in its entirety, alone. Honestly, I don't know if I can really recommend Goat Simulator, even though it's free. Sure, it's good for a bit of a laugh (solo or with friends) or for an easy platinum, but I simply didn't particularly enjoy my time with it. That's about all I have to say. Popular Post Conor
#49- BIOSHOCK (PS3) PLATINUM TROPHY Enjoyment: 9/10 Difficulty: 5/10 Time Taken: 4 weeks, 1 day, 22 hours, 24 minutes, 9 seconds (25 Hours ingame) Rarity: 1.9% Ultra Rare (PSN) / 8.95% Very Rare (PSNProfiles) Hardest Trophy: I Chose the Impossible ( Gold)- Complete the game on Survivor difficulty without using a Vita-chamber "A man chooses... a slave obeys..." Simply put, BioShock is one of the best games ever made. Its narrative is among the best not only in first-person shooters, but in gaming as a whole. The lore and universe is one of the most fascinating and well-executed. The use of plasmids and tonics to upgrade and customize your play style is so finely crafted that the sequels needed to do very little to evolve on it. The plot twist... ooooooooohhhhh that plot twist! It was the best game of 2007 and it holds up amazingly well today. You play as 'Jack', a young man seemingly caught up in a terrible accident that sees you ending up in the underwater metropolis of Rapture, an intended libertarian utopia that has seen some very dark days. The splicers are menacing enemies that can really tear you a new one on higher difficulties very quickly. Don't even think about going up against the Big Daddies in the beginning until you have a bit of research, a few traps, a nearby hacked turret and the aid of another Daddy until the influence of the Hypnotize plasmid. The game gets easier as you research all enemies to get massive damage bonuses (boosted further by certain tonics), upgraded your Health, Eve and weapons as well as become more generally familiar with the game. My first playthrough was a breeze, but Survivor without a vita-chamber was a whole different story. Saving very often was imperative, otherwise I found myself having to repeat half-hour sections or fighting Big Daddies all over again! But it felt very rewarding to bring down the final boss in the end, who was really quite easy. I'm glad I got the plat for this but I will not be going for BioShock 2 on PS3 since it has multiplayer trophies that require long grinding. Thankfully, they were omitted in the PS4 version. Popular Post Carol
#179 Spec Ops: The Line Legion of Merit Unlock all Trophies. People praise this game a lot and it was recently on sale for just 4€, so I thought I should see for myself what it was all about. I used to be a very classic gamer in the sense that I used to like shooters a lot. Nowadays, I'm more turned towards stealth and a more methodical way to approach the objectives rather than just to shoot and destroy everything and everyone around me. Maybe because of this, I can't say I loved this game. In terms of gameplay, there are no other objectives in this game other than shooting and destroying. It's just endless gunfights, one after the other and stealth is almost non-existent. What I liked in the game was how provocative it is. It's a very graphic game, showing you the consequences of all the atrocities you're committing; the horror and misery that this would mean if it was real; asking us, gamers, why do we enjoy the killing and destruction that we cause in games; showing us how all this would mentally affect someone who thinks they're just obeying or fulfilling an objective, without being aware of all the facts. In this sense, it's a really good game and probably why people like it so much. Trophy-wise, although most trophies are straightforward, I can't say this platinum was easy. I thought this game was pretty unforgiving, even on lower difficulties. FUBAR was really hard and I had to use all my skills and experience in shooters to overcome it.
