Fuck this platinum. Oh my Yevon, I hate the platinum. I knew I quit it for a reason, but the remaster on PS4 got me delusional enough to finish it up. I loved replaying the story again on PS4, but as soon as I popped back to PS3 to farm materials for alchemy I was quickly reminded why I stopped in the first place. It's less fucking awful trying to use the gold orb to get drops [ thanks @KingGuy420], but it's still really fucking annoying and I hate the platinum enough I'll never do it again. The remaster will never be complete lol. I'd rather not hate the game just for another platinum. I still can't wait for the game to go on a good sale on Steam to replay it again, so my love of the game remains and I'm happy to have it as a huge milestone...

 

The platinum for me was so defeating that I have barely played anything on PlayStation since dropping the game in November last year as I've said a few times in my very few status updates here since I've been playing on PC a lot. Had I got motivated to try again sooner I could've got the platinum on the 7th anniversary of my first trophy in the game on Jan 23rd... Oh well. It wasn't meant to be. It's a miracle I did it at all. lol

 

Anyway, the game is one of my favorites. I love it, the story is so charming and full of heart. It's a great story with great characters, beautiful environments and character designs. And while the AI is a bit stupid at times [mostly in how long it takes for it to defend when told] it's not hard enough to matter. At least, not that I recall. I didn't tackle the secret boss on the remaster and honestly remember absolutely nothing about the Guardian of the World or w/e fight. I tried to fight it for some drops, but quickly gave that up because he hits so damn hard [I know after you beat him once he gets more powerful so idk].

 

I actually find the movement more of an issue as you go straight toward whatever your target is and other allies or enemies get in the way. If they just had the AI move around things to get to where you want it would be a lot better than needing to cancel your attack and then move and then attack again. It's really annoying.

 

I'm so fucking relieved that I never have to do these dumb trophies again and the next time I play through the game it will have zero to do with trophies. I don't mind collecting monsters, it's fun for me to catch 'em all. Monster collecting RPGs are one of my favorite things, but... my god. The fucking alchemy. I hate it with a burning passion. If not for those trophies I would have little to no real issue with the trophy list. But I just can't stand that shit.

This game was so hard at first but i got the hang of it after 5 hours or so, the a++ in all the modes were easy except rampage and cheese hunt, the garden cheese hunt was easier than I expected, the garage mission surprisingly took me more time than the garden lol, I didn’t think I’ll be able to get this platinum in 1 day but I played 12 hours with no breaks and woke up the next day and played 13 hours, I really love bossa studio, surgeon and I am bread will be my top hardest platinums to this day.

I was excited when London Studio announced they were making a full-title experience based on their London Heist scenario from PlayStation VR Worlds. London Heist really showcased the potential of fun that could be had with VR. And Blood & Truth doesn't disappoint, as it's definitely one of the premiere experiences on PlayStation VR. The motion controls are very intuitive. I am trained in firearms, so I naturally tried to hold the gun like I normally would and what's fantastic is that if you hold a handgun with one hand and use the other to stabilize it, the tracking makes it appear as you're doing so. It's the little things like this that really makes me excited at what VR will eventually be in another 10 years. The game itself has some fun missions which allow you to use a mix of stealth or brute force if you feel like it. I was also very happy to see one of my favorite actors, Colin Salmon (from Pierce Brosnan James Bond movies, Resident Evil, and more recently Krypton) as Agent Carson. I haven't finished all the DLC trophies. The downside of PSVR is sometimes the tracking works fine, but then other times, not at all, which makes accomplishing some of these DLC trophies a pain in the ass since they rely on you being 100% accurate. Good thing the platinum didn't require as much, as this game definitely is one of the more accessible VR titles to complete. Overall this was a very fun game that makes it a must-own for anyone that has a PlayStation VR.

Not sure why I got the itch to play this, but I did. It's about what you expect from The Sims. Manage a bunch of people's daily lives, and build houses. It is a little buggy, though. Had to smash through a wall to free a couple of my sims, after they magically got behind it. And stuff seems to break here and there, to where you'll probably just want to save and close the game. 

 

Plat is fairly straight forward and far less of a grind, now. Gallery mode has made it so you can download other players' created sims and houses. Downloading one with maxed skills will start autopopping trophies like crazy after a short period of time (see my list for evidence). Doesn't do it instantly, so you'll just have to play while waiting. Or leave it running for awhile. I don't know what exactly triggered it, though. 

 

You can also download sims with their careers almost maxed out, and cut down on that grind. And eliminate the RNG of triplets, by downloading a pregnant woman that is ready to have them. Gallery is going to break this game, and you'll be seeing a lot faster times than mine. I didn't know what I was doing, so trophies were all over the place. Lol. Far from efficient. Was pretty fun, but probably would have started to feel like a grind after awhile.

I'm actually kind of mad that I took so long to experience this masterpiece of a game. I've had the complete edition (comes with all the DLC) for over a year now. I blame my massive backlog though. I honestly went into Horizon Zero Dawn pretty blind. I knew the game was about hunting machine animals..... but that was about it haha. I never knew it had this many RPG elements and I LOVE it. The story had me hooked start to finish. I love how much the depth the story had. The graphics are jaw dropping, even for today! The amount of dialogue options in this game is amazing as well. Although, not many things are affected by dialogue choices tbh, at least nothing I could see. This game is definitely in my top 5 PS4 exclusives for sure. Here's hoping the DLC is great as well.

To be honest, I'm surprised it took them this long to do this. I've cheaped so many of these titles because I can get it on a disc.

Yeah, i bought if physical new. I get most of my games physical. It just sucks that Ep 5 is a code. But that was also with some Telltale games, some of them had this issue also....

 Platinum #65 – Remnant: From the Ashes

I started my trophy checklist writing about Darksiders III by Gunfire Games, a studio that seems to spend more time studying the Souls games than learning how to optimize their own games. But despite the many performance issues and technical flaws it has, their latest game - Remnant: From the Ashes - is a complete joy to play, and one of the best coop experiences I've had in a while.

 

 

100% Enjoyment

 

Honestly, this is a game I didn't know I wanted to play, but I'm so glad that I did. Remnant: From the Ashes is a souls-inspired (yes, yet another one) action RPG that, and here is what they bring to the table, swaps the traditional melee combat for ranged combat. Now, is it the first game to do this? Nope, Immortal: Unchained, a game that came out a year before Remnant, already focused on ranged weapons; but that game really wasn't all that great, and I couldn't recommend it to anyone. Still, it deserves credit for the idea. Remnant, on the other hand, is a game that really feels great and satisfying to play, and that comes from someone that usually avoids shooters. ?

 

What is unique about Remnant, however, is the random generation of the game world each time you start a new campaign. The four main areas are always the same, and the main story is set in stone, but which event-dungeons, miniboss-dungeons and final bosses you'll find in each area is random, and they are drawn from a somewhat large pool of possibilities (except the final bosses… there are only two to choose from in each area). This keeps the game fresh, but also comes with some annoyances. There were a couple of areas where it was very noticeable that the same building blocks had been put together, and this made a couple of dungeons undistinguishable (wow, what a word) from each other.

 

I believe that Remnant is a game that for the best experience should be played in coop. Couch-coop is not an option but finding active lobbies shouldn't be an issue. Myself I never joined random lobbies, though, as this is yet another game I played with @Mori, to whom I need to apologize for tagging him in what feels every second post I make these days ?

Anyways, I should clarify what I mean… I think that this game is not well balanced for solo-play. Enemies are plentiful and all aggro pretty quickly, so it's not uncommon to be overwhelmed, especially in the beginning where crowd-control is still difficult due to the lack of proper gear and weapon-mods (more on those later). Thus, playing in coop we would always warn each other, "enemies behind you!" or "there is an Elite enemy running towards you", making it easier to maintain the upper hand in battle.

But I think that where playing in coop makes the most difference is during boss fights, both minibosses and final bosses. Some might dislike this, but bosses in this game rely a lot on spawning minions to keep you occupied. The main boss itself is usually pretty aggressive, but would be manageable on its own. But every single boss we fought (with one exception that I can think of) would at some point start spawning minions, regular enemies from the area that would immediately swarm you and force you to retreat and deal with them before continuing to shoot the main baddy. Now, swarms of enemies can be pretty deadly on their own, but when you need to also avoid the bosses AoE attacks, having a teammate to help decimate the minions quickly is a huge advantage. Overall, at least the main bosses really feel unique and are super fun to fight.

 

Each of the four areas really feels unique. This one is the darkest of them all. 

 

So, what about RPG elements and equipment? This is something that they nailed as well. Let's talk weapons and armor first. There are many equipment-sets that can be found during your playthrough, and which provide different set boni such as increased ranged damage or faster running speed. That being said, we spend most of our initial playthrough wearing our standard armor, as it took a while for us to find a new set out in the world. This might have been due to the RNG and the dungeons that spawned, but it was still noticeable. As for weapons, there is a huge variety of them, both regular and boss-weapons. Regular weapons have an empty slot that can be socketed with a so-called "mod", which allows to use a special attack that can be released when enough mod-energy has been gathered (by fighting enemies). Boss-weapons are weapons that can be crafted after fighting a boss, and they come with a pre-equipped mod that mimics the main signature-attack of the defeated boss. Some bosses directly drop a material to craft a mod instead, which is neat as well if you would rather keep your favorite weapon equipped but change its special attack.

Upgrade materials are also very common, which makes it very easy to experiment with different weapons and equipment. ?

 

Has to be mentioned, you also have a melee weapon, and there are many items that try to make a melee-build more viable. That being said, I don't think that a pure melee build can be very successful. Not only does melee feel clunky, there are also many bosses with weak spots in hard to reach places, and there is even a "moonlight-butterfly"-style boss that never even enters your melee-range. Melee is rather used when you're swarmed to gain a bit of breathing room, though I'm sure that someone already beat the game with melee only without leveling up… ?

 

As for the RPG elements, you have a constant XP curve, i.e. getting from lv. 1 to lv. 2 takes as much XP as getting from lv. 130 to lv. 131. What do you do with all the attribute points you gain from leveling up? Well, you spend them on "traits". There are 32 traits in the game, and most are unlocked by performing certain actions often enough, such as killing enemies, reviving your teammate, etc… You can level up your health and stamina, increase your reload speed, your movement speed, your critical damage, your resistance to elemental attacks… There are a lot of options and you better focus on a handful instead of trying to level up everything, but it allows for a huge build diversity.

 

On a technical level, this game still has plenty of flaws. There is quite a bit of lag rather often, the loading times are a bit insulting and we experienced bugs where our special attacks would just not work, even after reloading the game. The game runs better than Darksiders III for sure, but for one that's not saying much, and secondly it should be judged on its own… It's not optimized, and it shows. But despite those flaws, this game is too much fun to ignore.

 

 

100% Challenge

 

Initially the game felt a tad challenging, mostly due to lack of weapons and mods for crowd control. But as the game went on and we geared up it became quite the cakewalk. Enemies scale to the level of the highest level player in a party, so you cannot really outlevel enemies. But with the right equipment and traits you can still become pretty OP.

 

We went into the game thinking that we would need to do the plat twice, as trophies used to only unlock for the host. That's fortunately no longer the case! This fact is however not reflected in the trophy guide on this site, which is outdated in many other ways as well. However, trophies are still a bit buggy and some didn't pop when they should have (or they popped too early..), but all popped in the end.

 

Most of the trophies are story-related or achieved for defeating certain bosses, leveling up weapons, collecting enough traits and armor sets, etc… With the addition of Adventure Mode, cleaning up after one single playthrough is very straightforward and smooth, as you can re-roll individual worlds instead of having to replay the entire campaign over and over hoping to find the bosses or dungeons you are missing. It is thus a perfect game for playing blind the first time around, and that's something I always appreciate.

It took us longer than I want to admit to figure out what to do during the last boss of the game, but who cares ? Otherwise, we defeated most of the minibosses and final bosses on our first or second attempt, which is why I cannot give this game more than a 5/10, if that, though it might have started out as a 6/10. 

 

There is a single trophy that needs to be achieved in solo play, which is beating one main boss solo without taking damage. This might sound intimidating, but just use the "Swarm"-mod and just watch the boss burn. Honestly that is hands down the most OP mod in the game and makes this trophy pretty easy.

 

 

If you can find a partner and think this might be something for you, then just go ahead and play it… I hope you'll like it as much as I did. ?
