Popular Post AK-1138
Platinum #481: Difficulty: 2.5/10 (5/10 without God Mode) Playtime: 45 minutes to an hour Enjoyment: 6.5/10 Fun little Metroidvania platformer, with plenty of spikes, moving platforms, and hidden rooms for all. Defined by a crisp, colourful art style and relatively tight controls, it's definitely ahead of the curve within the idiom of cheap, short, and sweet platinum games. And that's no small victory in and of itself. Your quest through "The Fairyland" (really just a moderately sized dungeon; not a fairy to be seen) is one filled with a surprisingly satisfying sense of progression, and game-changing items and upgrades abound. The various captives of the dungeon will help mark your map for collectibles when assisted. You actually spend a decent amount of time completely unable to defend yourself against the spooky scary skeletons and big bad bats that fill the place, and thus eventually being able to fight back is kind of cathartic. What with its dearth of save points and relentless backtracking through numerous tricky rooms with hardly any shortcuts to be made as you progress, this might well be a decent challenge without God Mode, but I'll never know ? I'd say it's still plenty doable, if frustrating, given time and persistence. I didn't much bother to pay attention but the boss attack patterns seemed pretty easy to remember... and there aren't all that many bosses either. The seemingly endless plethora of spikes and spinny sawblades are likely to pose a bigger problem... All in all, I was pleasantly surprised by this. Nothing hugely memorable, but for what it is, it's a fun enough time to be had. And no matter how you decide to go about playing it, God Mode will always be there to bail you out should things come to a head. Perfect for trophy hunters of all skill levels, and at a cracking price point besides.

Popular Post iXanon
#25 Color Guardians Enjoyment: 8/10 Difficulty: 3/10 Time taken: 1 year, 9 months, 4 weeks Another one cleared from the Backlog, Color Guardians was a bit of a strange one for me. If you look at the fastest completion times, it can be done in little over 3-4 hours.. It's not that I didn't enjoy the game because I did (quite a lot in the end!), but it was just that my efforts were focussed on other games. It definitely has the "pick up and play" factor going for it, and the premise of the game is a simple one - colour matching. The main difficulty I encountered was getting Red and Blue constantly mixed up with my buttons sub-consciously, possibly because of the Xbox controller where the blue button is located on the left.. The final boss was a bit of a brute, but nothing that a few tips from the PSNP community couldn't handle!
Popular Post Hanstarkiller17
Platinum #56 100% #70 Batman: The Enemy Within Another Telltale Games platinum to add to the collection! I actually enjoyed this one more than the first Batman game, but I seem to be in the minority there with most people preferring the first. This one felt like there was a lot more variety in the choices you could make and the consequences of each decision. It has been awhile since I played the first one though, so my memory could just be a little faulty. Either way, i always enjoy a good Telltale Game, and this one was definitely no different!

I started it like 9 months ago and left it, now in 3 days I achieved the platinum. I would say it's a fairly easy one in terms of time but it can really be a pain in the ass when you are playing in VETERAN mode. Popular Post FluffyAssassin64
#123 - Darksiders II "BFA" Unlock Everything 'Darksiders' is one of those series where you get the great along with the not-so-great, the awesome along with the frustrating. Darksiders II certainly fits that bill, being a good and enjoyable game overall, despite being hampered by (more than a) few missteps. Inspired by many greats that came before (like Zelda, DMC, AC...), this game is a jack of several trades, master of not-really-any. Okay, enough of the weird comparisons, what were the pros and cons? On the plus side, the world-building and overall setting in Darksiders II is great. From the beginning to the end, characters and locations are interesting, and the idea of the 4 Horseman (3 men and 1 woman?!) of the Apocalypse is an awesome idea for a game series. Death is a great protagonist (mostly), with a menacing but still light-hearted voice and approach to situations. He embodies his namesake well, but I do have to say that his overall motivations (and the overarching story as a whole) comes up short. Even compared to the first game - which felt like it had real personal stakes - the plot seems to be moved forward by this nebulous idea of 'saving my brother'... even though Death himself doesn't even really know what that looks like. In fact, there weren't really any interesting quests here at all; compared with the aforementioned games upon which DII is based, this is a bit of a shame. Other characters are pretty good for the most part, but many remain nothing more than simple merchants; obscure dialogue aside. Enough about that, how does the game play? Again, mostly good, with a few issues. The core of the combat is satisfying and overall feels great; with a decent variety of weapons and abilities available. Tearing apart enemies with scythes feels and sounds as I hoped/expected, and enemy & encounter variety is solid for the most part. By NG+ I was getting a bit tired of it though; more an issue for plat-hunters than anything else, but it does lack depth beyond a few 'other' skills learnt in the early-mid game. I did have some other issues too. The camera felt a bit 'janky', especially when locked on to targets. I honestly have no idea what half the enemies in the game are called, because the camera (when locked on), obscures their name Not really a major issue overall, but nowhere near as tight as modern third-person action games. Bosses were... okay. Aside from a few standout late-game bosses, most were just bigger versions of the standard 'tough' enemies, with a small gimmick thrown in. I get this is part of the 'flavour' of this style of game, but fighting the same boss (reskinned) several times over the course of a playthrough simply isn't that fun. There's some of my more general thoughts. Now for some specifics of what I loved and hated (yes, hated). Awesome stuff (rapid-fire!): World and environments (including art style) Lore and characters Voice acting (all fits quite well) Music/OST (my goodness this is epic!) Dungeons!!! (many are very well-designed) BIG issues: Crashes... I encountered at least 20 (yes, 20) during my ~40hrs across both playthroughs + DLC's. I can deal with a few in games of this length (though prefer none), but this was ridiculous. It got to the point where I avoided using any abilities altogether in certain fights to avoid it. Definitely a major bummer Sound/audio issues... another big one. At least once per play session, I'd encounter a de-sync of sound that required a game restart (close from PS menu) to fix. It seemed to happen when there were a lot of effects / destruction on the screen. The problem is, some parts of the game have a lot going on, and it's hard to avoid it I had a few other minor gripes like inconsistencies in wall running, strange hotboxes and progression, but none of these were big issues. I generally liked things like the loot system too; despite them being done much better in more recent games. OH, and the DLC's were a lot of fun too. They all had some fun bits and some annoying bits (like the main game I guess), but they added some new cool stuff - including level-scaling loot! - that made them worthwhile. They're free, so why not. Trophy-wise... again, a bit of a mixed bag. Many are quite simply earned through story progression, but a select few are a bit more annoying. I only missed a few of each collectible item on my first playthrough (NB: do NOT start NG+ until you've finished all side-quests), but I had no idea which ones, so had to follow a start-to-finish guide to make sure I hadn't missed any obvious ones. Sure, you could just use a guide from the start, but where's the fun in that Darksiders II also requires NG+ to get to lvl 30 + unlock the remainder of the game's wave-based mode. Unless you're a chad, you'll need to run 'Deathfinitive' (very hard) on your NG+ too. The main game itself isn't too bad; I personally played on 'Apocalyptic', the game's 'hard mode', and only had to retry a handful of encounters a few times. The Crucible (wave-based mode) is just a pain that takes ages. You can turn the game down to 'easy' after earning all the difficulty-based trophy, but 100 rounds can only go so quickly... Bleh, that'll do. Was Darksiders II fun to play? Yeah, for sure. Would I recommend it? Ehhhh... it depends. There are many better 3rd-person action games available that have higher highs - and fewer lows - than this one. 2018's God of War, for example, is a tour-de-force that I recommend everyone play. If you like the series, you'll still enjoy your time here, but action-game of the decade... this is not. Popular Post Viper
#182 Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot Dragon Ball Master Really REALLY love this game. This is probably the most fun I've had in a DB game since Tenkaichi 3. The game is FAR from perfect...it leaves out key moments in the story that had no reason not to be there, the lip syncing is terrible, the combat is extremely basic, the game is SUPER easy, the RPG elements aren't as present as we were lead to believe and worst of all the flying controls are some of the worst I've experienced in modern gaming. It's like you're put on this X and Y axis and you can only move Up and Down or Forward and Back, but you can't do both simultaneously, and relegating the Ascending and Descending during flight to and never feels natural...after all the time I put into the game I still found myself fiddling with the buttons because something else just made more sense. But...even with all that, there's just something about this game that sucks you in and doesn't let go. The story that is there and done very well. While the graphics tend to have a lot of low res textures in places, all of it still pops in this colorful and vibrant way...and the animation for attacks and power ups is top notch. Some of the scenes during the story were animated better than the Anime...like when Piccolo jumps in front of Gohan to take Nappa's blast...or the final scene with Goku launching the Spirit Bomb at Kid Buu...in 4K they were absolutely stunningly gorgeous. Perhaps what the game truly does best is uses side quests to fill in the blanks or fix plot holes. Such as helping these teenagers who turned into animals, realize there's a drug created by the Red Ribbon Army that turned people into Furries, and they even mention King Furry himself (The King of the World) took it one point and never turned back. Or letting us know why the Dragon Ball in the Buu saga suddenly granted 3 wishes instead of 2 after Dende was made Guardian. It even fills in some points about where Launch had been this whole time. AND what no other reviewer out there seems to be pointing out...is this game actually ties into Xenoverse and FighterZ, it's not JUST a retelling of the Z story, which was a nice surprise to see and leads me to believe that Bandai Namco has a larger plan in place here and Xenoverse 3 and FighterZ 2 are going to have some huge implications going forward. Overall, like I said the game isn't perfect there's things they could have done so much better. However, I think it's a tremendous foundation for a solid series of games...and if history is any indication (looking at you, Budokai 1, Tenkaichi 1, Raging Blast 1 and Xenoverse 1) the sequel is going to be one hell of a game! If you're at all a Dragon Ball fan...then you should definitely play this. Edited February 7, 2020 by Viper

Popular Post madbuk
#357 - The Amazing Spider-Man This is my third time doing this plat and I still had a good amount of fun with it, not every game needs to be a masterpiece and this is one of those games which isn't great but it's fun to play anyway. The story is nothing special, but I haven't seen the movie (or any Spider-Man movie) so maybe I can't fully appreciate it. The main story missions are enjoyable but, much like Insomniac's Spider-Man and Amazing Spider-Man 2, the side content in the city is pretty terrible. Shattered Dimensions is easily my favourite Spider-Man game so far and that one isn't even open world, and I'm starting to think it's for the better. Spider-Man + open world just seems like such an obvious combo but none of the open world Spider-Man games I've played manage to make it more enjoyable than the regular, self-contained story missions instead. Hopefully Insomniac can break that trend with the next one.

Popular Post ZitMeatloaf
I recently earned three platinums in relatively quick succession, and it seemed silly to make a separate post for each one, so I'll just list them all here. I'm sure you're all excited AF to see what they are, so here we go! #43 - Seasons After Fall "Master of seasons" Pleasantly surprised by this game. I needed something appropriate to play with young kids in the room and saw this game on PS Now, downloaded it to give it a shot. Theme and gameplay are similar to Ori and the Blind Forest, although Ori is a better game with much more precise controls. Also, Ori has enemies and you can die in that game; this game has no enemies and you can not die. It's really more of a puzzle/exploration game. But still an overall enjoyable game. #44 - Donut County "All Done" I'd had this game on my wishlist for several months because it looked silly and fun, but I knew it was a short game and it didn't seem worth a purchase at full price. It was half price during the last sale, so I finally bought it. I had fun, but it was all over after one day, so I'm glad I waited to buy it at a discount. Item descriptions in the Trashopedia are the funniest part of the game and I loved reading all of them (normally I couldn't care less about in-game lists like that). #45 - Jazzpunk "The End" Another short game I picked up for a few bucks in the last sale, this game is all about absurd humor. I love absurd humor so it was right up my alley, but if you don't enjoy absurd humor you probably won't find much to like about this game (unless you're just looking for a quick and easy platinum). The trophy description for the platinum trophy is "Now go outside". I was persuaded to purchase this game, at least in part, by its name (I wouldn't have purchased it if I thought it looked like garbage or I didn't think I'd enjoy it). A few weeks back I was looking at my list and wondered how close I was to having a complete A-Z platinum collection with at least one platinum game for every letter of the alphabet. I had 16 of 26 letters taken care of (along with one game that begins with a number), so I decided I'd start playing some games to complete the alphabet. With the letter J satisfied, I've got 9 letters to go... Edited February 8, 2020 by ZitMeatloaf Typo
Popular Post Intoner_Zero
Plat #139- Layers of Fear 2 As a fan of the first game, I was looking forward to this entry and I feel that it didn't disappoint! Horror psychology takes on a movie motif, the whole game aesthetic gives off a feeling from the 1940s-50s, sorta minimal but elegant still. Now I probably didn't catch all the movie homages, but ones I did notice were some film noir, Metropolis, Psycho, Titanic, The Wizard of Oz, and even Alien! There are also nods to Shakespeare, Lovecraft, and Hitchcock too. Nothing really hard to play through; just look out for the collectables, some chapter specific objectives, and trigger the appropriate choices for each of the 3 endings. Would love to continue to see the 'horror of the arts' theme for LoF: there's worlds of dance, music and literature that would be fun to see~

Popular Post Hanstarkiller17
Platinum #58 Watch Dogs Four years after starting to play Watch Dogs, i have finally completed the platinum trophy! I haven't 100% completed the game yet, but I do have the Bad Blood DLC installed and ready to play tomorrow. I really enjoyed this game, and went back to it a couple of times over the past few years, but I always got side-tracked and never committed to finishing it until this year. I picked up Watch Dogs 2 at a sale recently, and I am looking forward to playing that next, and I'm planning on picking up the Season Pass for it the next time it goes on sale too. I'm also really looking forward to Watch Dogs: Legion, and I hope that they take the time to get it right, since it has been delayed now.
Popular Post Desmuria
#260 - Assassin's Creed III Remastered Master Assassin Get every trophy. Enjoyment: 7/10 Difficulty: 5/10 Oh man, where do I even start with this game? There's a lot to unpack. Just a head's up: If you haven't played the game yet and you don't want spoilers, don't read this review. I never played ACIII when it was originally released, so I went into this with no clue what to expect and, for the most part, I was pleasantly surprised. I really enjoyed the main game and, as much as Connor is a whiny bitch, he's actually an alright character. He's got nothing on Ezio, though. Sorry. I started off absolutely hating Haytham and, by the end of it, I was referring to him as "Daddy" and I was genuinely sad when I had to kill him. Getting the 100% sync in all the missions was mostly relatively easy with some practice, whereas other missions ended up making me rage. In particular, Sequence 7 Memory 3 "Conflict Looms", where you have to set off bombs on two ships without being detected (and no checkpoints). The main story arc ended with Desmond Miles dying, so that was emotional to say the least. I usually don't care for the modern day stuff, but this had me shook. I finished the main story weeks ago and it took about two weeks of on/off gaming to complete the absolute beast of a grind the game expects you to do. I would say the most annoying trophy out of entire game was the "Original Gamer" trophy. I spent four hours trying to win a game of Fanorona and I'm glad I never have to play it again. I ended up using an expert AI to help me win. If you're playing this game and you're struggling with this trophy like I did, I made a post HERE with some links to help you. Other massive grinds in the game include: - Unlocking all fast travels in the undergrounds, which was so bloody boring and I used a guide to help me with the door puzzles. - Completing the hunting map, which was a massive slog and certain animals, like cougars, only spawn in one particular spot in the area. - Buying every weapon in the game, which isn't too bad in all fairness because I just crafted most of mine instead of buying them. - The Encyclopedia of the Common Man, which thankfully wasn't glitched for me because I saved it until the very end. Then we have the DLC, which I'm grateful they put in instead of the dreaded multiplayer aspect that was in the original release. Luckily, the trophies aren't too bad to achieve and the optional objectives aren't too difficult. The only one I struggled with was the Eagle Sky Journey, which you have to complete without hitting any of the obstacles. The controls aren't inverted, so I kept flying down instead of up and getting myself into a right tizzy. I think I cried in frustration at one point. Connor drinks tea made from the virgin boughs of the Great Willow tree and earns himself some mega superhero-esque powers. With the help of his spirit animal friends, the wolf, the eagle and the bear, you become a fleshy weapon of mass destruction. I'm pleased to say that they don't make you completely OP. Using your powers costs you health, which will leave you vulnerable if you abuse them. The storyline isn't the best, but it's decent. It just explores what would happen if George Washington takes the Apple of Eden for himself. He crowns himself King of America and builds himself a massive pyramid in the middle of New York, as you do. Egotistical prick. All in all, it's a good entry into the AC franchise and I'm gutted I missed it on its original release. However, as mentioned earlier, I much prefer playing them without the blasted multiplayer element, so the DLC was a welcome exchange. Whoever decided to keep the "Original Gamer" trophy on the list for the remaster needs to be executed. Other than that, it's all pretty straightforward. Next up will be Assassin's Creed III: Liberation, which is part of the bundle you get when you buy ACIII. Originally a PS Vita release, it'll be interesting to see how well it ports to the PS4 with a shiny remaster. I never played Liberation before, so I'm excited. Popular Post Gommes_
#106 - Concrete Genie The Artist of Denska I was really surprised by this game. What I saw before I actually played it already looked good but I didn't expect it to be that amazing. I love the art style of this game and how great the world felt. The painting mechanic was good as well and never felt gimmicky (as long as you control it with the sticks and not with motion control). The only downside to this game is how short it is. Besides that it is a very good and small Sony exclusive which needs way more recognition. I bet we will see this game this year as a PS Plus entry . Popular Post MrFudge
#63 Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood (PS3) Julius Caesar Enjoyment: 9/10 Difficulty: 4/10 Earned in: 8 years 10 months According to my memory and the fact I’ve not played a single instalment since III, this is the best AC game ever made, featuring Ezio at his peak. Rome is stunningly immersive and the score is incredible: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=QkUfTArwlS4 Visiting Rome irl is twice as magical if you’ve already been there as a caped assassin capable of wooing all the ladies. Admittedly you don’t get to square off against the Pope as in AC II, but I think being allowed to play with Da Vinci’s toys helps make up for that. In typical AC fashion the trophies are mostly sleeper, but in fairness there is one for bopping a guard with a broom, which I enjoyed. Unfortunately 17 year old me for some reason lacked reading comprehension and believed that the infamous Abstergo Employee of the Month trophy required you to earn every single bonus in one sole session. As such I couldn’t be bothered to achieve it at the time. I hate boosting trophies that I could have earned legit so sadly that momentary lack of brain power meant that I earned the plat dishonourably in 2019 instead of gloriously in 2012. Popular Post Juzota
#124 - Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order A New Hope Earn all trophies First Platinum of the year, yay! I'm not a massive Star Wars fan, but this game was quite enjoyable. Or at least the main story was. The clean up to get all collectibles was something else. There was so much collectibles and most of them had zero value for me personally. Some new colors to stuff that doesn't even matter, oh boy. Grinds like these reminds me why trophy hunting isn't as much of a fun hobby that I thought it could be. Fast travel would've been nice... or at least the ability to fast travel back to your ship would've been enough. Despite all the bitching, I actually had some good time.
