Finally, the third and final Platinum trophy in the Ezio Collection. This wasn't TOO hard to get, other than the stupid, STUPID Impress Warren Vidic trophy which truly angered me more than I'd care to admit. 

 

Now I can move on to hating my life even more as I progress through my New Year's Resolution of getting as many Assassin's Creed platinums as I can by turning to Assassin's Creed III Remastered next.

Had I known this was a 10tons game, I robably would have bought this one sonner than I did. As usual they didn't let me down and provided a solid game. Kind of reminds me of the Overlord games. Fun game overall and the trophies prtty much come as you play. Glad I ended up picking this up.

Ez. Was 50% off on PSN, close enough given how cheap I got it on PC. Been waiting for a good sale to play it on PC since the retail version isn't even really a retail version... gg Activision.

 

Already played it on PC and beat it, so flew through most of it without an issue. Had to look up a few levels for the gems, but aside from two stupid ones there weren't any that were too bad to get on your own for collectables. It was fun to play through it again and get a platinum that was fun and easy compared to Ni no Kuni's long ass tedium. Took 5h 30m according to the ingame clock that includes idling while looking up a few videos.

Spyro was always a favorite of mine, in spite of never owning as a kid I played the demo disc with it on there so many times I can easily walk through the first few levels with zero problems. I don't have much to say other than just praising it and I'm sure everyone knows how good the game is already.

An oldie but a goodie, Dead Space is probably one of the best trophy list for a Triple A game I can think of. Mainly because of its solid game play, excellent presentation/atmosphere and no BS. No multiplayer trophies, no difficulty with finding all the collectibles (mainly because this game encourages looking and looting), and not much grinding. That said, its definitely not a walk in the park either, especially when everything wants to tear you apart. Beating the game on impossible difficulty was one thing, but beating it on impossible difficulty with only the plasma cutter seemed nearly impossible at certain times when your low on ammo, health or stasis. But that's one of the strength of this game, defying the impossible. I mean I manage to beat the final boss with only one health bar left, and that just leave a sense of achievement that very few modern games can do. Yes I did had to use the Peng glitch to max out my gear, but only because I didn't know how to start a new game plus (its not in the main menu, you have to load a save file that said 'Cleared Game'). I do recommend this game, especially if you still got your old PS3, this game has aged very well, and its 12 years old.

Xblaze was the only one that I haven't done already before. All the EU ones was just me wanting to boost my trophy level. All of them are very easy games.

#28 – Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order

Enjoyment = 8/10

  

I had been expecting this one to be honest – eventually a promising Star Wars game. No multiplayer, no micropayments, no DLC, no bullshit. Just a solo experience with a story worth telling. And all in all, it was worth the time and money indeed.

 

The main positive point is the gameplay, focused on handling a lightsaber and using the Force. The latter is limited to very basic abilities (push, pull and freeze) which is not a problem, as this allows it to serve the fights quite well and maintain a very dynamic gameplay. As for the lightsaber, it relies on an attacking and parrying-based gameplay that works quite well. Special mention to the boss fights, that are for sure the best moments with extremely well executed & actually challenging lightsaber duels.

 

But the best part remains the story. The main protagonist is definitely not a monster of charism but it suits his condition fairly well – an former Padawan, pulled from hiding against his will – and all characters are well written and incarnated. As the plot develops – a plot that perfectly fits into the extended Star Wars universe – I really got more and more involved in it. And that ending! I won’t spoil it here but the final sequence after fighting the last boss really got me.

 

From technical standpoint this is a correct game. Neat graphics and quite fluid animations (I played on PS4 Pro with Performance mode active), a few bugs but nothing dramatic with only a couple of freezes that needed a restart. I started on versions 1.06 and 1.07 and it seems most bugs people mentioned after released have been fixed.

 

I would only regret this game to be fairly short (let’s say 20 to 25 hours to complete the story and explore every inch of every world), with a very limited replay value. And the post-game free roaming is not particularly interesting. But it’s been a very satisfactory experience that I would recommend to anyone enjoying action/adventures games such as Uncharted or Tomb Raider. And if you’re a Star Wars fan in addition, it’s just mandatory you go for it.

As one might expect, Guac 2 is more of the same scarily-tight platforming and Metroidvania exploration, but that's pretty much what I wanted from a sequel. Like the original, the focus here is on deftly chaining together your many moves and abilities to traverse rooms filled with lethal hazards and traps. Things can often get confusing (and very frustrating), but it's so satisfying when you finally solve the movement puzzle and reach the next checkpoint. You're forced to gradually master each mechanic as they're unlocked, and it gives a real sense of gratification when you become competent with everything.

 

However, one of my problems with the series is how rigid the solutions are: particularly late in the game, one must perfectly execute the developer-intended inputs, or die—over and over and over again. The player ends up repeatedly throwing themselves into the grinder in a trial and error fashion, until the muscle memory necessary to progress is eventually developed. There's very little room for improvisation or alternative methods, which really hampered my enjoyment of the optional content, wherein the difficulty approaches the level of a Ed McMillen platformer (certainly beyond anything seen in the first game). An aspect of Shovel Knight I love is the variety of ways in which to complete a section or recover from mistakes, and I'd have liked to see more of that here.

 

The interspersed brawler combat isn't nearly as challenging, but it's still fun to combo the many skeletal enemies into powder with overpowered wrestling attacks, and there is a large selection of playable characters to choose from, many with different stats to make battles even easier. I adore the Mexican theme, too; the spirit realm's lovely "Day of the Dead" style in particular is very aesthetically pleasing.

 

For a third game, I'd like to see more open-ended platforming, something to spice up the fighting, and less reliance on goofy humor. I had a lot of fun when I wasn't cursing at my monitor, though!

PLATINUM 213 - FINAL FANTASY VIII

 

 

 

Such an awesome game  I know I'm in the minority here, but this entry is the best PS1 Final fantasy in my opinion. VIII manages to capture the essence of Final Fantasy so well. 

I know we're going to be in awe again with VII remake in April, but I do hope people will give this game more love, it deserves so much. 

 

Now please remake VI, or at least give me the PC version, I'll take it. I need my top 3 with platinum (X,VI and VIII)

This game is a Mega Man clone made up by ex-Capcom employees over at Inti Creates. Surprisingly, it does a better job creating that gameplay experience than any modern Mega Man game ever could. Gal*Gunvolt Burst is a crossover between Azure Striker Gunvolt, Gal*Gun and Mighty No. 9 (Oh God, why that last one? ) Anyway, the story consists of our three main heroes, Gunvolt, Beck and Ekoro ending up in a virtual world where Teseo (the antagonist from Azure Striker Gunvolt 2) has them trapped, and it’s their job to defeat him and free themselves from the virtual world that will surely swallow them all up into a black void of nothingness in due time. Nothing too complex, short and sweet. Of course, the story is not what makes the game shine, but rather the classic 2D action gameplay.

 

There isn’t really much else to say about this one. Trophies are pretty straightforward but will require multiple playthroughs until the platinum is in your grasp. Game is short, so it’s not as tasking as it sounds. Two trophies specifically will give you a hard time though. You have to beat the game in under an hour, meaning you can’t let your save file time exceed over an hour before beating the final boss. There is a cheese method though. You can keep copying your file after each level if you feel like you’re making good time, but if you mess up, you could also go back to an older copy and try again. Simple really (: As for the other hard trophy, you have to reach a burst combo of 50 and finish a level. I recommend using this video as a reference guide, it’ll be much easier than me trying to explain it.

 

Do I recommend Gal*Gunvolt Burst? Certainly! If you’re a fan of retro 2D action games, even more so. It’s not really worth $10, so I would wait till it’s on sale again for $5. Inti Creates could use the money though, I’d love to see that developer reach extreme heights and make even bigger and better games. I try to buy their games on launch day whenever I can. Should you buy their games as well, note that you are fighting the good fight

In Perils of Baking you are making your way through levels where donuts and cookies are the enemy in order to stop your evil brother from... destroying the world (?) with his magic chef's hat.

 

There's not much to this Mario-esque game. You're doing basic platforming throughout various levels... typical platformer controls such as running and jumping.... you can kill enemies by jumping on them, throwing whisks at them, or hitting them with a frying pan. Some levels have you under water, others have you controlling a mine cart, and a couple will have you flying through the air on a balloon.

 

Trophies revolve around collecting food, beating levels/bosses, finding secret parts of certain levels, and doing some miscellaneous things like luring a monster cookie off a ledge to fall to its death. Nothing too complicated, except for maybe the "Secret Levels"... the normal levels are so easy that they give you a sense of security, but the Secret Levels are quite a step up in terms of difficulty. Still nothing that can't be beat with a couple tries.

 

Overall, nothing wrong with this game, but nothing that makes it stand out either.

A really fun game, I liked it a lot, so much so that the story ends completely, it only has 50 levels, although for the paltino you only need to complete 44, for 6 more levels you finish the complete game, I would recommend doing it.

Black Mirror

 

I hadn't planned on playing this, but a friend recently played it and enjoyed it. After grinding out Wolfenstein: Youngblood, I was looking for something much shorter to play. this fit the bill perfectly.

You play as David Gordon and you go back to the family home/castle. What you begin to uncover is the deep dark secrets of your family that know one wants to talk about. That is all I'll say without spoiling anything.

 

Gameplay wise, it mostly is solving some puzzles and some QTE's with exploration. Story is solid in my opinion and had a few unexpected twist and turns. Outside the main character my favorite's are Rory and the scientist/doctor.

 

the game has some technical issues. I didn't face many. Once it got stuck on the loading screen, than retrying it crashed twice at the loading screen. One other was when looking to complete an part, I went back to previous section and got stuck in there. Reloading previous saves corrected the problems.

 

If anyone plans on playing, make plenty of saves just in case you run into similar issues.

This has been in my backlog for years, glad that I finally played it, it was so much fun!

Master difficulty was pretty balanced, it had a few overwhelming sections but thankfully a lot can be skipped with the cloak mechanic and fast movement skills, the game just feels too smooth to play, I love it 

 

I personally did the Gauntlet trophy before even starting the campaign, which probably isn't a great idea, but it gave me a good feel for the game to start it directly on max difficulty.
