Popular Post panikooooos
Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker Difficulty: 6.5/10 Enjoyment: 6/10 A slight departure from the previous Metal Gear games, which makes sense since this was made for a handheld. This one is kind of a mixed bag. It retains the themes of the previous Metal Gears (nuclear deterrence, "Metal Gears", CQC, stealth etc) but the story doesn't feel as strong as the previous games. The missions aren't connected as well, since they were made with the mindset of the psp where you play 1-2 missions, save, put it in your pocket and pick it up later instead of playing for hours like most console users do. Just like Battlefield Hardline it has this "TV Series" style where you move from an area to the next, and the missions ends with a "TO BE CONTINUED" (bruh) sending you to the menu instead of letting you do a single run from start to finish. I'll be honest I hate when games do this shit, I'm not watching Breaking Bad I'm playing a fucking videogame, I don't need you to force me to take breaks... They also introduced this cancerous "base building" mechanic in this entry, god I hate this shit so bad. Basically you have a base and it needs doctors, engineers, troops, intelligence etc so you have to find staff in the main missions with good stats like an S in engineering and put him in the r n d sections if you want to build weapons, 3 star chefs will help feed your troops etc etc. You try to start a mission only to find out that "Oh you don't have C4". Well you better stop playing the campaign and start fucking grinding, because in order to build that C4, you need good engineers, intelligence, etc etc. and even if you fulfill the requirements you have to play missions in order to progress the time in game to get the weapon... I think you get why everyone hates this shit, nobody who plays Metal Gear is interested in endless grind! The story has you trying to stop a CIA guy in Latin America named Hot Coldman (really) from trying to launch a nuke, pretty average stuff tbh, boss fights have the same flaw just like Metal Gear 4, they aren't memorable at all, they are all basically "Big robot with weapons on it" which sucks and it isn't on par with the standards Metal Gear had set in previous installments. Also all the interesting story parts are hidden behind optional "tapes" which most players aren't even gonna bother getting or listening to, who knows who tf thought this was a good idea. The campaign suffers, it's definitely the weakest campaign of any Metal Gear game I've played so far. Now I guess it ain't all bad, I liked the humor of the game, you can really tell this game was made in Japan. There's the trope of "young looking innocent schoolgirl who everyone wants to have sex with" (but it's ok because she's secretly an adult, classic japan), and there's even a whole character named Cosima Caminades because in japanese that means Kojima is God, and if that's not the most Kojima thing you've ever heard of idk what is ? I also liked the Extra Ops which is like VR in previous games, I think even more than the main missions. I also liked the fact that we got a perspective on Big Boss and how he came to be. S ranking the Extra Ops really made this game, BUT, as everyone else has said before me, there are way too fucking many vehicle missions!!! It's like: S rank Tank A on Map A at morning, S rank Tank A on map A at noon, S rank Tank A on Map A at night, S rank Tank A on map B at morning.... etc etc you get the point. Fuck that shit. You could have cut 20 vehicles missions and it would still be boring as hell, idk who thought this was fun or something. To conclude, way too much grind (you also grind for rare monster drops, which I didn't mention before yeah this sucked ass), with little substance. It's worth playing if you're a dedicated fan, if not stay away. If "This is Outer Heaven", I'd rather be in hell, Big Boss ?

Popular Post voodoo_eyes
#436 - Wheels of Aurelia This one is a bust. Dull stories and the little gameplay there is, is just horribly done. Car bounces around like a pinball, there's cokkision detection on an empty road at times and sometimes there's no collision detection at all and cars just clip through one another. Popular Post madbuk
#366 - Titanfall 2 I have had an interest in this game for quite a while, despite not being overly keen on FPS games, so when it finally hit PS+ I was excited. I must've been busy with other stuff at the time though so I never actually started it. The hype around Modern Warfare 2 got me in the mood for an FPS though, I was considering MW1 but then I remembered I still had this to play as well. I really enjoyed the platforming in this, and although there wasn't really a great deal of it, there was still more than I was anticipating which I'm very pleased about. The story didn't engage me at all, maybe it's an issue of not having played the first game, or maybe it wouldn't have either way, but that was fine. There weren't any overly long cutscenes, most of the exposition happens whilst playing. Trophy wise I was excited to do the gauntlet. It looked like a fun, challenging platforming gauntlet that would keep me engaged while the rest of the game installed. While it was fun, I was expecting it to be a bit harder/more complicated, the platforming in it is actually very basic and it comes down to whether you throw your grenades properly more than anything else. It only took about an hour and then I had nothing to do whilst the rest of the game installed, I was expecting to be at it much longer after how hyped up it was. I actually had more trouble with master difficulty. I began master difficulty on my first playthrough, so although I know you can run past certain fights, for the most part I fought everything as I wasn't aware of which were skippable and which weren't. I definitely felt like I got better as the game progressed, or maybe the game just got easier. It was a fun challenge for someone like me who rarely plays FPS games, even if everyone else seems to find it on the easier side. Overall I really enjoyed this. If a Titanfall 3 happens (it probably will) I probably won't be picking it up when it releases but I'll be sure to play it if it ever hits PS+ or a deep sale.
Popular Post Justin__Harris
Platinum #76: MediEvil (PS4) Game Score: 7/10 Platinum Difficulty: 3/10 I guess a lot of people's only time with MediEvil is playing the original game's demo on the Pizza Hut Demo Disc on the original PlayStation. I still have that and never owned the original, but did beat it back in the day when you could rent video games from Hollywood Video. This game is a reskin of the original game with a few adjustments to the functionality, camera (which still could use work), and controls. It was fun to revisit this gem and play as Sir Dan again. It's an enjoyable game, but still retains a lot of the irritation and frustration from the 1998 classic. The platinum is easy, but can be a grind. After finishing all the game's tasks, you're rewarded with access to play the PSone original. Not a bad completionist prize, if I do say so myself. I hope they do a remaster of MediEvil 2.

Even before this current situation started I had been working on my backlog. 100GB opened up on my hard drive. Got 100% on most of the DLC as well. Surprising to see Lotus Juice on a FF soundtrack. My next target is probably going to be either Rayman Legends or Valkyria Chronicles remastered. Edited April 2, 2020 by postofficebuddy

Popular Post Conor
#53- TRINE (PS3) Way Out of the Trine Enjoyment: 8/10 (except for the 'Better Than Developers!' trophy) Difficulty: 5/10 (without 'Better Than Developers!' like 3/10) Time Taken: 6 Days, 23 Hours & 25 Minutes (15 Hours in-game... about 5 of them on 'Better Than Developers!') Rarity: 9.3% Very Rare (PSN) / 21.47% Very Common (PSNProfiles) Hardest Trophy: Better Than Developers! ( Silver... should have been a frigging gold)- Complete Tower of Sarek without any deaths on Very Hard difficulty I don't even feel like sharing a quote from this game. It's a good game, a neat little platformer that harkens back to gaming times of olde. You have three playable characters that you swap between- Thief for maneuvering and long-distance kills, the Knight for close-quarters combat and the Mage for puzzle solving. You side-scroll (mostly) through 16 levels to complete your quest and put down the rise of the evil undead armies by lifting the curse of the mystical Trine. What I love about the game aside from its visuals and appealing characters is the variety of ways you can get through a level- you can swap freely between the characters to use all of their strengths or you can even get through a level with just one character. It's up to you how to play. It isn't terribly difficult- the 'Very Hard' playthrough is a cakewalk and can be speedrun in under two hours with fully upgraded characters handily. The Experience bottles you have to collect are rarely out of sight if you just explore everywhere and the level select screen tells you how many in each level there are. But the one trophy that really fooked me off was the 'Better Than Developers!' trophy in which you have to beat the last level on 'Very Hard' without incurring a single character death. The timing for the most part is extremely strict with almost no room for error. In fact, I heard they even patched the game to make this challenge even harder... why? WHYYYYY???!!!! It took me literally hour of repeating over and over until I finally got it- the first time I made it to the top section I managed to complete it but damn the struggle to get there without dying once was immense. I thought this would be a nice easy time, a nifty little palette cleanser before tackling some bigger titles, and it almost was... almost. I do look forward to playing the rest of the series though!

Thinking of picking up this game myself. I was never able to play much stuff on the PlayStation 1 as a kid. I was basically a Nintendo geek with the Nintendo 64 and my parents were overly strict with how many games I could get. So I ended up renting a lot of my games from Blockbuster back in the late 1990s - early 2000s, when it was commonplace for us kids to rent because games back then were far too expensive to buy in bulk. Glad they finally remastered this. They might as well revive the Twisted Metal series while they're at it.

Popular Post Redgrave
#178: Savior of Gallowmere - MediEvil Remake I thought I had played the original one a long time ago but I guess it was actually the sequel since in that one I remember getting stuck on a dragon skeleton boss fight and that wasn't in this one. But I really enjoyed this one and the sense of humor it had. I especially like the subversion of Dan's character where his origin story is where he was supposed to be this big hero but it turns out that during his epic battle he was the first to fall and everyone just lied about his story for years But throughout the story the main goal is to make up for that and to join his other friends in the Hall of Heroes, which is a pretty simple but nice story and premise to go with. The gameplay as far as things go was fine although sometimes the platforming was a bit wonky but thankfully there wasn't much of the platforming to deal with. Beyond that it's basically how you would expect a PS1 game to play. All in all it's something I would recommend if you're looking for a short and simple game to play and Platinum.

Popular Post NullSpace84
#46: Steins;Gate: My Darling's Embrace More of a Slicier-of-Lifer Steins;Gate with /sprinkles/ of relationships, rather than a full-blown rom-com. S'fine by me. Pretty decent what-if product, color me pleased! Would MDE serve as an amicable gateway into the realm of Steins? Mmm, unlikely, unlikely. Although it explains a fair amount of the universe's gist, the visual novel looks to target the S;G established fanbase. Given that Rintaro Okabe stars, please don't expect overly much in the realm of flirtation or smooth manliness~ However, once I surmounted (or, more accurately, mitigated) my initial reluctance, I found myself once again enraptured within the Future Gadgets Lab, nestled within the trendy heart of Akihabara. MDE enters preexisting chronology at a hazy midsection, and therefore, revives the Phone Trigger interface of the original creation. This go-round, the game keeps a checklist of all read emails and requires the player to receive & read all of them to complete the library, in addition to the customary CG acquisitions, tips databank, and route clears. It handily sorts by time received so that the player can quickly double back into earlier save files and zip ahead to email branches for any stray emails missed or as-yet unreceived. Being a fairly easily revisitable visual novel, MDE offers scarce little resistance to its platinum, save for one route which requires a minor sequence of actions to access, plus the 'good' sense to -ignore- a handful of email chains if one would like to receive certain seemingly unconnected emails from other lab mems. That mechanic never made full sense to me before, and its virtue continues to elude me today, but the skip feature zooms so fast that text-hunting concerns fall limp to the wayside. Even Huke's illustrations fit a S;G standard: a distinctive, captivating artstyle, albeit with a few unruly scattershot 'stretched' persons. On the cusp of brilliance, if not for the periodic stretchy persons! In summary, I liked MDE and feel glad that I took a shot at it. This is a nicely decent gaiden game, and one which I'd warmly recommend to folks keen to delve back into the Akiba of Steins;Gate, with demonstrably less dire peril. ...but, sadly, with more typographical, syntactical, and formatting mistakes, in its localization. This is becoming a problem amongst localized niche-ier J-games, and it saddens to view. I could cynically chalk it up to lazy or ill-trained translators, but after reflecting upon the increasing frequency of periodic sloppiness in a number of localized video games, I am drawing a more measured conclusion: Too much t'do. Asian-borne video game scripts, specifically for JRPGs and VNs, have very obviously en masse exploded since the '90s. We receive a surfeit in both categories that we quite frankly wouldn't and didn't receive 4, or even 3, console generations ago. This affluence includes the PC market, as well, with its recent outpouring of visual novels on Western storefronts. Reams and reams and reams of text are getting translated, in comparatively strong demand -to get- translated, and additional publishers and contractors answer the noisy bell on a quarterly basis. Behemoths like Trails of Cold Steel III are nowadays taken more for granted, when even as recently as the long-awaited Trails in the Sky sequel, such undertakings formidably posed hefty challenges and stood as monumental juggernauts. Prior thinner plots in series like Ys give way to decisively thicker scripts in recent entries. All of this and more combines for a dogpile of translation work, regardless of any one laborer's aptitude, and expectations fuse with deadlines to pinch proofreading/editing/finalization something harsh. I believe that a large source of sloppiness *is* the heavy crunch. How, then, could it improve? Realistically, I don't expect it to, anytime soon. We zealous loyalists chug too many localized games, fastly, and beefily. Seller-side contributors, however diligent and passionate, are only humans. I myself make small mistakes at my workplace, more than I ever become aware of; however, my mistakes don't tend to get viewed and reviewed by a wide array of stringent eyes. Ultimately, mind you, I'm not acquitting or absolving notable inadequacy. Editing, proofreading, natural translation - these talents, and more, polish localized products to a superb glow, when they deftly operate. It bites, time and again, to witness an array of grammatical defects and spelling blemishes. It discouragingly bites for real. I suppose, then, that I am attempting to consolidate an internal understanding of this continual outcome. If localizers could decelerate, however minutely, the more common pitfalls could surely get patched up with little stress. Do I see that happening? Eh-heh. Nope. So goes it. A spot of patience and understanding, then, earns some validity. Expect and advocate high-quality standards, but cage up the hellfire, is what I will decide to enact. Mighty thanks to the great ones, well done to the wearied ones, and to the uneven ones, become better - and chin up.

Popular Post hittheroadbucky
Enjoyment: 9/10 Difficulty 2/10 I actually didn’t know this game was even a thing until a couple months ago when I saw someone here post about it. FFXV is probably my game of the generation so I had to give this one a go. I absolutely loved my time with it and it was so fun going back to the story and the characters years from when I first met them. Obviously this isn’t a patch on the full game, but if you enjoyed the original and can get this version cheap enough I recommend. The only downside is how much backtracking you have to do to get some trophies. For my final trophy of unlocking 65 ability nodes I spent so long grinding AP in chapter 7 ? some of the rng trophies have the potential to be pretty annoying too, but I was fairly lucky and most of mine didn’t take more than a couple of attempts

Popular Post BLESS_0504
#18 Almost There: The Platformer "Almost There: The Platinum" Not really sure how I managed to find this game, especially considering that only 100 people have bought it on PS4. That being said, I enjoyed getting the platinum. It's a good warm up plat before going for the platinum in a more challenging platformer such as Super Meat Boy. I cannot recommend this game to everyone, however. The way that the character moves can be a huge pain sometimes and the graphics are very basic. Another problem with this game is the music. There are 3 different worlds and there is one song for each. This means that for the many hours that you will spend on this game (the plat took me around 11 hours), they expect you to listen to the same song OVER and OVER and OVER again. Thankfully, you can mute the music in this game, but then the game just becomes awkwardly quiet. The reason why I still say that I enjoyed this game is because it had a good challenge. You have to complete each individual level under a certain set time in order to obtain 3 stars. Mastering each level was very enjoyable for the most part, but there were also quite a few levels that were not fun at all. Like I said earlier, the controls can be a pain sometimes. If you are going for the plat in this game, you better prepare your left thumb, because in this game you are going to CONSTANTLY be moving/flicking the L3 stick left and right. This is not that bad for levels that take less than 20 attempts, but for the levels that took more attempts than that, I honestly felt like I was going insane. I do not recommend attempting to get the plat for this game in one day. This platinum took me 11 hours across 2 days (excluding the time when I bought & played the game for the first time and then didn't play it for half a year) and some of those hours were very frustrating. I would recommend taking your time with this plat because if you go through as much trouble as I did, you will end up being VERY annoyed with this game. Some levels are a good challenge, others are just flat out annoying. This is a very rewarding platinum. As for my criticism towards the trophy icon, it kinda looks like the character is jumping over a bronze trophy, making it not one of my favorite icons.
