PondNewt
7 hours ago, ExistentialSolid said: Platinum #179 - Skullgirls 2nd Encore~ Another Seven Years ~Difficulty: 9/10 (personal estimate) // Enjoyment: 8.5/10 My painfully long journey to the platinum in Skullgirls was a bitter reminder that fighting games are not to be taken lightly. There are 3 major hurdles you need to overcome to earn the platinum in Skullgirls: beating Marie on 300%, beating all 26 challenges, and beating all 56 character trials. Marie is a monster and perhaps the only sensible way to defeat her is not by by actually taking away all of her health but by running down the clock after a few strong opening hits. The 26 challenges are another beast entirely, some of which will toy with your sanity and take hours to overcome (don't get me started on one particular challenge against Big Band). But Marie and all 26 challenges will do little to prepare you for the most demanding and time consuming part of earning this platinum: the character trials. This is where you will sink or swim and I sank hard, especially at first. As a player that struggles with even the basics in most fighting games, the difficulty of the trials hit me like a truck. Each trial asks that you perform a single well-executed combo. Some of these combos are simple affairs that you'll chug through in 10 minutes while others are tournament-ready weapons of annihilation that will take hours of practice and a lot of blood, sweat, and tears to perform. Seriously, Ms. Fortune, Valentine, and Parasoul will probably leave you in pieces by the time you see the light at the end of the tunnel to say little of the other 11 characters. I don't even want to think about how many hours these trials took altogether, I'm just glad I made it to the finish line and can stare at my shiny new platinum in peace. Really impressive platinum, great work. I've got this in my backlog myself and I've read some things before about how hard it is in particular with the combo trials. It's a fantastic feat for you to be able to pull it off especially as you mention perhaps not being one of the stronger players with fighting games. When I eventually try it myself there's no way I'll be able to platinum it, think I'll have to settle for about 50% at best.
Popular Post Edunstar84
Plat #101 - Emma: Lost in Memories Emma: Lost in Memories is a puzzle platformer centering around the theme of mental illness. I won't say which, but you can probably guess from the title. I have to be honest with you all. I'm rubbish at platformers, and if I suck at a video game genre, I generally don't purchase it. Now, you'll notice I have Hollow Knight on my profile. HK, as I fondly call it (jk), is different. The graphics, the atmosphere, the diversity/variety found in the different levels are something to behold. I really liked the art. This game, on the other hand, is level after level of PowerPoint background images; where there's no visual reprieve to break away from the tediousness of completing levels, and there were very, very many of thenm. The main levels (all 50 of them) were just okay. I can appreciate what they tried to do with the story, but it falls short until you hit the epilogue. I can tell you, it really wasn't worth it. However, this isn't the bulk of the game. Spoilers! More PP background images awaits you; 90 more levels of it. This really surprised me because I thought there would be more story or something else. Instead, you have to complete 3 difficulty stages: Easy, Medium, and Hard for the plat. Why?! The most heartbreaking feeling was when I got to this extra bit thinking I just needed to complete 10-20 more levels per stage. Man, my brain and fingers weren't ready. I faltered on a handful of levels. All of them required surgical precision, timing, and patience. I didn't feel any elation when completing these extra levels. Maybe because of this I didn't enjoy the game. I just wanted to get it over with. It was also boring to have to play so many levels without any "meat", story, or eye candy. It was just bleh. The game's not really worth the £7. Wait for a sale.
Popular Post TwilightSpira
PLATINUM 223 - FINAL FANTASY IX What a joy to go back to the world of Gaia - Final fantasy IX still delivers such a fantastic story, truly a classic. Once again the addition of ultra speed is a bliss, still be prepared to be annoyed, swear, kick and turn whenever the bloodlust comes. What a piece of sh.. of a trophy. I’ll give the benefit of doubt and just say the trainee was in charge of adding that one, and somehow another 0 was added. Off course we can’t finish without mentioning one of the most infamous trophies, the jumping rope minigame, I seriously think the programmers were drunk on the night of programming, what a nightmare. In my heart, Final Fantasy IX will always have a place alongside X, VI and VIII as one of the best.

Popular Post yellowwindow7
Plasteel and Silica / 2064; Read only Memories this is a point and click game that rely heavily on story driving nature which mean i gotta keep this post away from the story as possible and only talk about what i like/hate about it. the soundtracks is really good in my opinion, the voice acting is a top notch! one specific character was even voiced by Jim Sterling himself. i really liked Turing ( the bubble head fella in the platinum trophy image ) so much! one of the most adorable robot i ever saw in a game so far, also the teens streetpunks Oliver and Chad aka ( Starfucker ) is also fine because i found them to be hilarious and funny so they got a pass. those above is the most things i liked in the game, but the rest is really not my cup of tea, sorry if this is gonna offend some of the good folks on this site but the rest of the characters is really not my type at all and even their design, they looks very weird, i know that the event of the game is in the future with a Cyberpunk touch but i'm talking about a woman that have a mustache and a beard and dressed like a man, i thought that it's a dude but everyone is calling her a she... that kind of stuff, but the most character i really hated is Jess.. and yes i know that a group of LGBTQ and the SJW is behind this game trying to send their message, i just didn't liked these characters. the gameplay is ok-ish, it's one of the least favorite point and click game i ever played, the platinum is really hard if you didn't follow a guide, most people told me the Threat Neutralized is the hardest trophy in the game and it's best to attempt it using the touch pad but i followed a video on youtube a friend of mine did ScarecrowsFate that he did it with the D-pad that i followed his way and got the trophy on my 5th try, thanks bro! but man, i hated that random nature last encounter final boss fight, i retried that more than 8 time on my first playthrough, i was very afraid to reach the end of the game with the one sitting playthrough without saving or restarting and might die on that last boss fight but when i reached it i pass it on my first try ? speaking of guides big thanks for Lojtana's trophy guide, it's really good and easier to follow. the game took me a freaking one Year and five months to plat....... many things have happen to me making me to take ages to plat this short game ( stop playing it, other games i got have over shadow it, i lost all my stuff on the ps4 due to a faulty HDD ) that kind of things. Popular Post Draps-1337
#48 Norn9 Var Commons (Vita) 15 hour plat or (maybe around 5-6 with skipping) If you have short term memory loss, this is the otome visual novel for you. While the story was a little slow to start, the settings was interesting (A secret flying sphere ship near the start of WW1) with children on board with magical power. But really those things aren't explored at all really. Instead, it's digging through each boy's history and having them come onto you like they haven't seen a girl before. Granted, that's the aim of the game. but two of the 3 playable characters have been on board this ship for a LONG time and only now the boys are interested in them and their backstory? come on... #49 Bad Apple Wars (Vita) 14 hour plat or (maybe around 4-5 with skipping) Now, this was a much better otome than Norn9. Highly recommend this VN if you want to swoon some boys in a really interesting school setting with a 'good' & 'bad' side. It was quite fun to see how each of the people came to this unique school. The trails and tribulations you go through with each character definitely build a stronger bond than a lot of other VN's. The main story doesn't change much between boys' routes, but the connection you make to the chosen boy is definitely unique. I have 1 more game to play in my Otome backlog then I can move onto some action games.
Popular Post Redgrave
- #183: Personal Growth - Gris I had heard this was good and since it was on sale for $8 I figured I would play it. It's certainly an artistic and colorful game, and by that I mean it's very pretty and the animations are nice to look at. I'm pretty sure most of them are hand-drawn so there definitely was a lot of passion put into it. As for the other artsy side of it, I think I understood what was going on with it, although I feel like there's still stuff left up to interpretation. I liked it in the end, and I would be interested in seeing the devs make a bigger game and see what else they can do with their artstyle.

Popular Post Gommes_
#112 Sleeping Dogs Hong Kong Legend I kept hearing about this game and how great it's supposed to be, so I picked it up for 5€. That game is worth way more! I really liked it, especially in the beginning. They just nailed the atmosphere and the vibe of the city. Story wise it's more on the serious side and when it comes to cinematography Sleeping Dogs is amazing. The wedding mission is just superb! In general it's a very entertaining game which slightly wears off over time. After a couple of hours you just know the design of all the missions and side contents. Nevertheless, I highly recommend Sleeping Dogs and it's a shame that the studio does not exist anymore.

I wouldn't sell yourself short though. As long as you're patient and put in the practice, you will earn the platinum as well. What helps me with difficult games is to break down any daunting challenges into manageable pieces. For example, as the trials got harder, I would set more manageable goals like focusing on 1 trial per day. Even if you feel like you are barely making any progress, the most important thing is not giving up (especially after rough days when you don't meet the expectations you set for yourself).
Popular Post Golem25
Platinum #60 - Forma.8 formed Adventurer - Unlock all other trophies 33,511 Owners - 4,323 Achievers for a percentage of 12.90 (average completion; 19%) Enjoyment; 5/10 Difficulty; 2/10 Trophies; 7/10 (some nice artwork, well thought out names and descriptions) Has this changed my mind about indies in general?; No I've listed my full thoughts in my Trophy Checklist thread, but happy to reiterate on them here to bring this little Metroidvania game to your attention. For just a few bucks you can grab this off the PSN store (I got it in the recent sale) if you hadn't already gotten it as a PS Plus subscriber in December 2017. With a video guide in hand you can run through this in under 5 hours and nab yourself a decent Platinum. I had some technical issues playing on Vita, but since it's on PS4 too I imagine most of you won't be deterred. Forma.8 is a Metroidvania made by the infamous Futuridium deves, wherein you play a surveillance drone that crashlands on a hostile planet. Losing your abilities, you have to search the planet for powerups all the while unravelling what happened to your fellow drones and, hopefully, making it back to your mothership. You'll have to slay quite a few beasties to get there though, and travel through a fair few different biomes and loads of ruins in this bleak, devastated world. I didn't enjoy it, what with not being a fan of the genre, but popping the Platinum was a very, very nice reward. WIth a bit of luck, Forma.8 will give you a lot more enjoyment than it gave me.
Popular Post djb5f
Platinum #81: Madden 20 Enjoyment 8/10 Difficulty 4/10 I did this and a couple others for a $5 EA Access month. Standard Madden fare. Once again a solid football game with mostly easy trophies. The 24 for 24 passing drill will likely have to be repeated some times in order to get as it is very finicky to register as in the zone (Pro Tip: pass earlier than you would expect). Triple Crown actually caused me issues this year when in the past I would get it quickly. Not sure what that was. Platinum #82: Enjoyment: 8/10 Difficulty: 2/10 I liked this a lot but for some reason (maybe because I played it first), I felt Before the Storm made more of an impact on me. Very similar of course. Great style and artwork to the game. The ability to rewind time but be able to move forward physically with Max was an odd mechanic. Looking very forward to Life is Strange 2. Platinum #83: A Way Out Enjoyment: 8.5/10 Difficulty: 2.5/10 I don’t think I have played a strictly co-op game like this and I enjoyed it much more than expected. Storyline was intriguing and good variety in levels. The end got a little silly it I still enjoyed every second of it. Play all the way through (after you earn the last story trophy), it is worth it. Thank you EA Access again. Platinum #84: Sea of Solitude Enjoyment: 4/10 Difficulty: 2/10 On the good side, the artwork and exploration was good. Should have stuck to that and it could have earned a 6/10. The game had some potential but the storyline was just too creepy and uninteresting. The voice acting was so cringe-worthy, I had to deduct points (and mute my TV). The “combat” sections were poorly done and repetitive. No thanks to EA Access on this one. Platinum #85: NHL 20 Enjoyment: 8.5/10 Difficulty: 7.5/10 I used to play and plat this series annually but this is the first one I picked up in a few years. The gameplay is great and probably the best it has been. I was enthused that they put in a new presentation but that quickly faded and the announcing has taken a big step backwards (miss Doc Emrick). As for the trophies, largely rinse and repeat. The dealbreaker will be winning the Ones Eliminator tourney. 81 participants but only 1 winner. It takes skill and some luck. Felt great to win it and show off my 1’s tourney winner jersey in future tourneys. Your last trophy will probably be getting past Level 50 but Pro Am can quickly level you up. Also look for the weekly challenge bonuses. Platinum #86: The Walking Dead: The Final Season Enjoyment 8.5/10 Difficulty 2.5/10 Loved this finally installment. I am one who enjoyed it more than the others because of the trophy set up. Took a slight amount of skill to do the hunting or fishing challenges for example. I also loved that you could die a lot quicker through QTE events. Made you more alert playing. I did not mind re-doing portions to earn certain story-based trophies as you get to see other parts of the story. Fitting end to Clementine’s story! That’s it for now ? Popular Post EcoShifter
Dutiful Soldier Unlock all the other trophies. Starting off with the platinum image, as usual, it's very underwhelming for what the game puts a player through to unlock it (heh). In contrast, the platinum title is good. This game is a HD port of the original 2003 PC version, because the game didn't release on consoles originally. Apparently, the port is inferior to the original but still serviceable enough to not ignore entirely. Outside veteran mode, it was indeed a treat playing this classic, which was my first time. My introduction to the Call of Duty series is Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, and I've only went forward since (but having stopped at Black Ops), so seeing the inception of the series through the first game was entertaining and insightful. I can see why this game originally got the praise and ratings it did, considering the innovative things it did compared to other shooters at the time, like its true squad-based play, dynamic A.I path-finding, more authentic World War II concepts, etc. Although, like with the upcoming Crysis remaster, it's disappointing that the game's expansion isn't included with this game. It apparently improved a lot since the first game and has a good amount of content to go with it. I would like to have that, as well as re-releases of Call of Duty 2, which seems to be considered superior to the first, and Call of Duty 3. Not sure why those haven't been re-released yet, since CoDC released way back in 2009. Platinum Difficulty: Very Hard This game is nearly a perfect example of how a game with almost only story and difficulty modes based trophies can be very difficult. The platinum is difficult mostly because of veteran mode. It functions similar to Call of Duty: World at War, except both without regenerating health and the ability to pick-up health packs. Infinite grenades spam from the enemies aren't present, but there's generally no visual indicator for thrown grenades, and the player can't cook their own. Those last two points are part of the game's general design, not a tweak for the veteran difficulty. Now, some people say this isn't as hard as CoD:WaW, and others say it is harder, but I might have to agree with the latter. A player can't throw back enemy grenades, can't cook grenades, can't find a place for cover to exploit regenerating health, can't run, squad-mates die permanently and then the player is left alone (don't remember how that's like in WaW, though), seem to die faster from bullet impact, poorly timed auto-saves can screw the player over or put them at a disgusting disadvantage when every respawn from the checkpoint can have enemies already shooting at them each load indefinitely until they get past that checkpoint and find another, and weapon diversity is probably weaker. Don't recall how long the levels are on average in WaW, but CODC also task players to complete more levels on Veteran in comparison. While not difficult, one separate fact about the game's trophy list is that there's no stacking for beating the game on harder difficulties. This isn't the first game when I've dealt with this, but that design is generally a stupid and outdated obstacle for platinum collectors. Game Enjoyment: High. Had a great time with this (classic) game, as it's aged fairly well. Some of the things I like and contributed to my enjoyment with the game are the plot, the immersive soundtrack and squad-based play rather than the temporary allies and/or typical lone-wolf direction in other shooters, the refreshing absence of regenerating health, the engaging set-pieces, and the three-part America, British, and Soviet Union campaign where you play as a different character and have a different agenda in each. This is a very welcomed addition to the platinum family, especially the (difficult) shooter-line alongside the entire Uncharted series, Call of Duty: World at War, Killzone 2, Spec Ops: The Line, and Killzone Shadow Fall's. I plan to add Vanquish's sometime later this year or next. Popular Post chibuki
After trying the 2-3 of its older games in the past, this is the one that got me onboard. I feel Gust is hitting all the right notes with Ryza. What I didn't like in the old games was how I get penalized if for taking too long doing missions and time keeps moving forward, so everything's time based and I get no enjoyment from it. In Ryza, none of that happens. Combat mechanic is simple and the synthesizing and gathering materials part are the key element, as one would expect from a game about alchemy. Thighs power! At first I didn't buy the idea of re-releasing a full game in the same console with some additions. By the end of this, I was completely turned around and glad I had the chance to replay Persona 5. On my second run, I learned how deep and recent the social issues brought upon by the writers. I can also sympathize with the main villain. The newer music tracks are nice and jazzy and the new playable character was fun. Happy to jump in to this old franchise that never really made its way to the West. Perfect time to start as Sega is reviving it with more games planned in the future. What drew me towards this game is how smooth the animation looks, making characters cute and funny with the body gestures and facial expressions. I was watching the TV animation, once I found out that's a sequel to this game, I just had to get it. The platinum was troublesome and also skill based, but for the hunters in this website, it shouldn't be hard. So many trophies require replaying levels and scenes. Some people hate playing the hanafuda mini-game but I learned it and find it fun. Now I get to enjoy the anime and look forward to more new games. Popular Post Carol
#188 Sniper Elite V2 Remastered Platinum Remastered Win all other trophies to take your place as the world's greatest sniper I'm glad this game was remastered for the PS4. It's a really good game, taking place during the final days of WW2 or, more precisely, during the Battle of Berlin. The gameplay is very fun, especially because of the X-Ray kill cam, that characterizes this series and that never gets old! I also liked that this game is set in Berlin, that, even in ruins, seems to be a beautiful city. I hope I can visit one day! Trophy-wise, this platinum is of medium difficulty. You have to complete the game on Sniper Elite difficulty, which is a decent challenge, that has to be approached methodically. However, the only truly hard parts are when there are snipers around. However, for me, the hardest trophy was the "Secret Service" one: you have to kill all the soldiers patrolling a village, without being detected; you can't save manually, there are no checkpoints until you kill everyone and your only silenced weapon is your pistol. This was hard and annoying! It took me a whole afternoon to accomplish, but that's what a trophy is supposed to be, right? This game also has co-op trophies, but, unfortunately, both the co-op and the competitive modes are completely dead. I was fortunate to find another trophy hunter, who was also trying to finish his co-op stuff and that helped me through all the overwatch missions and bombing runs, even though he already had most of it completed himself. Definitely, a very friendly and kind person, to whom I am very grateful!
