Popular Post AJ_Radio
Platinum #242: OlliOlli2: Welcome to Olliwood (July 7th, 2020) Difficulty: 8.5/10 Excitement Rating: 8.5/10 Estimated Time to Platinum: 20 - 25 Hours Hardest Trophy: Certified Professional ( Beat every challenge/Unlock RAD Mode ) This was a pretty tough platinum to get. OlliOlli2 is essentially a 2-D platformer like game where you pull off Tony Hawk like moves and various other tricks to get points. The game starts off easy and offers you some tutorials on getting started. This quickly gets more difficult as you're progressing through the Amateur challenges. Scoring relies on perfection. Hitting the X button just prior to landing gives you 'Perfect', which gives you more points. Hitting the X button a little before will get you a 'Sick' rating, which gives less points. Getting a 'Sloppy' rating is bad because you temporarily lose control of your skater and you are bound to crash. Grinding, Manuals, Manual - Reverts and Launches all rely on perfection. Getting 'Perfect' gives the most points and gives your skater more momentum, whereas 'Sick' and 'OK' ratings slow your skater down and reward less points. This game has a very steep learning curve and the only way to truly learn is to keep playing the game. It is very easy to get discouraged because OlliOlli2 is extremely skill dependent. A challenge that might take one person a few minutes might take another person a whole hour to get. The game is divided up into five different areas, with each area getting progressively more difficult on top of the challenges themselves becoming more difficult. Titan Sky, the last area in the game, is far more difficult than Olliwood, the area you start in the beginning. Each area has five levels with five challenges each. You only have the Amateur challenges at the start, however completing all Amateur challenges for a particular level will unlock the Pro challenges, which are far more difficult. This is where your skills and determination are truly put to the test.... it is not easy to take on the Pro challenges. OlliOlli2 is very fast paced and demands twitch like reactions and multitasking. Getting 'Perfect' on landings and grinds is split second timing. Even furthering the skill learning curve is learning how to pull Manual-Reverts. Hitting X just before landing will give you a 'Perfect', but your combo ends there. Starting with the second area you will have to learn how to do manuals, which is hitting X like you normally would while also pulling the left control stick LEFT or RIGHT just prior to landing. Doing so successfully will have your skater pulling a Manual or Nose Manual. Adding Reverts to that is even more difficult. In addition to Manuals, you have to also hold either the L1/L2 or R1/R2 buttons just prior to landing.... and while your skater is turning, pull the control stick LEFT or RIGHT. Reverts simply change the stance of your skater (spin moves also do this) so this is essential to scoring big points. Later in the game you are expected to keep an entire combo going for the whole level... this becomes very hectic and difficult as later levels, especially the Pro levels, have you scoring a high amount of points to fulfill a challenge. I spent several hours in Titan Sky alone as the challenges were very frustrating. You have to learn perfection and pulling off moves in a split second's notice. Many of the levels in OlliOlli2 present their share of obstacles that will surely end your run if you do not put in the practice. So already the game demands a modicum of skill that not everybody has, as well as having the reflexes and timing to successfully keep a combo going and not mess up. Despite my troubles, I enjoyed my time with OlliOlli2. The soundtrack music is dazzling and puts you right into the mood, as well as suiting the general theme of the game. Graphics are what you might expect from a lower budget indie, but they compliment the game and are good enough. The game quickly becomes addicting, as the 'One More Turn' mentality (popularized by Sid Meier's Civilization games) hits you and you just keep trying over and over until you finally pull off a good run. Those expecting a challenge should be right at home with this game. It's difficult but rewarding and satisfying... honestly it feels good getting a platinum out of this. For those wanting a more relaxed experience and those who lack the skill, stay away from this game. Your health and well being will be all the better for it. Popular Post Arcesius
100% #10 – Trials Fusion The Pitch Trials Fusion is a purely skill-based physics game about overcoming increasingly more difficult obstacle (bike) tracks as flawlessly and quickly as possible and competing against yourself and the rest of the world, and is one of the most challenging, yet rewarding and satisfying games I've ever had the pleasure to enjoy. 100% Enjoyment 100% Challenge The Best: This game... I was hoping I would enjoy playing through it (in the end, that's how I choose my games..), but I would never have thought that I would find one of my new favorite games in Trials. Yes, that's right, I can confidently say that Trials Fusion is among the games I've enjoyed the most. EVER. And that despite - or maybe because of - its extreme but very fair challenge ? So what makes this game so good? Honestly? I'm not entirely sure... I mean, I had watched some gameplay before starting it, and while it looked fun, it didn't look THAT fun. And still, from the first track I played myself, I knew I would have a blast. The controls are way more responsive than you would think, and it soon becomes apparent that this is not just a casual game. This is a physics-based game without a skill-ceiling, really. You see, you don't even control the bike itself. You control the rider, and thus indirectly the bike by shifting your weight and getting the bike to rotate. The game is about understanding the physics behind it, about maintaining momentum and knowing how to approach the increasingly more difficult obstacles. And what sounds like a highschool course is just an incredibly deep and satisfying game ? Unlike other games, Trials Fusion doesn't lock you out of the more difficult tracks, but is very good at showing you when you are attempting something that is above your current skill-level. And I think, overall, that this is what makes this game so addicting... There are games that you can beat without really getting good at them. This is not the case with Trials. Here you either put in the time, practice and improve your skill, or you won't make progress. But again, since the game is pretty much purely skill-based (with some luck elements that we can touch upon later), it never becomes frustrating, and you can really notice how much better you are getting with each hour you spend with the game. Going from not being able to beat a hard track, to beating it for the first time, to returning to it much later just to get a Gold Medal without much effort.. is just such an extremely rewarding feeling. ? The Worst: This is easy. There are not many things I didn't enjoy about this game, but I can still think of a few. Besides the fun obstacle courses, there are two other types of tracks in the game. Let's start with the FMX tracks, where the goal is to score as highly as possible by doing FMX stunts. I actually don't think it'd be fair to say that these tracks are bad., they certainly aren't. But they don't feel like they should have a place in this game, and I just simply enjoyed beating the obstacle tracks more than trying to chain ridiculous stunts while trying not to crash by overdoing it. I'm sure many people will enjoy these... they are just not what I'm looking for in this game. ? Secondly, the Skill-Games... These range from great (Ice Climb) to just frustrating (Speedcuber, more on this bitch later). I can't complain about all of them, but most are just not that well designed and going for high scores is simply not as fun. Luckily, you don't really need to do well in most of these, just starting them once and crashing on the first opportunity will do ? Still, I went back after getting 100% in the game to at least get a Gold Medal in all of these as well. There are also two other mechanics that I wasn't a fan of. There are several challenges that need to be completed whilst on fire... If you stand still for too long, or move too slowly, your bike will literally disintegrate, and it's back to the start. There are also two challenges where you need to fly through multiple fire rings, and properly controlling the bike was just a nightmare. Still, the points stated here were definitely not enough to diminish the fun I had with this game. It's definitely minor nitpicks. The Challenge: This is the name of the game... For starters, the hardest trophy will have you complete all 120 challenges in the base game, with each track featuring three challenges. Most are pretty mangeable, though there are some that are a bit gimmicky and thus require a bit of luck as well. However, the hardest challenges are 100% skill-based, and as such are both really challenging to complete, but also extremely satisfying to go for ? I want to mention three challenges that I think stand out: Pipe Phobia. This was the second-to last challenge I needed to complete, and I was ready to grind it for hours. I got a lucky run pretty early on and ended up only needing two hours to clear it, but I can still acknowledge the difficulty of getting this done. I really like the Roach bike, so I enjoyed this challenge. Be One with the Bike. Not particularly difficult once you've mastered the game. So.. why am I mentioning it? Because this is the one challenge that probably shows the best how much better you get at the game over time. Here, you have to complete the hardest track in the game (Inferno IV) while riding an invisible bike. Going from not being able to make it over the first obstacle in that course with a regular bike, to completing the entire track without too much trouble and under such extreme conditions just really is eye-opening. It is an incredible feeling to notice how much better you got at the game. ? Top Roach. Without a doubt the hardest challenge in the entire game, but again a challenge that really is there to show you that with enough persistence and practice, a seemingly impossible feat is indeed within reach. The first time I attempted this challenge - and mind you, that was after I was done with pretty much everything else - I finished the run with 299 faults. After about 6-7 hours of practice, I got my 0-fault run, and I saw improvements on a daily basis. It's just so motivating seeing the progress! Overall, this is probably what is so addicting about this game. It would be an understatement to call the DLCs 'easy', but compared to the base game they actually are. However, the hardest track in the entire game is part of the DLC (Way of the Machine), an insane track that seems impossible at first. Other than that, there are two other trophies that are worth mentioning. Speedcuber. Given that I cheesed Anger Management, this trophy was without a doubt the most frustrating thing I had to do in the game. You are on top of a rotating cube, with each side having a different obstacle to overcome. The challenge increases with each side, and the goal of this skill-game is to reach side 40 of the cube. Fuck this skill-game. At some point I could pretty much get to side 30 blindly, just to screw up some jump in the last 10 sides. What makes this so frustrating is that due to the rotating cube, the physics change over time (the cube becomes more and more steep), and they really seem a bit messed up. Definitely not a fun challenge, at least not for me. RedLynx to the Sword. Probably the second hardest trophy in the game, but without a doubt the most fun trophy to go for. This is found in the last DLC, and the goal is to beat the developer times on each of the 10 tracks. Some of the times are really tight, some even seconds below the requirements for the Platinum Medal, but again, this game is just so motivating, and the tracks in question are just so well designed for speedrunning that it was just so much fun going for those times. You can probably tell from the review, but if Trials Rising is just as good, then holy hell I think I have found one of my favorite series ?

Popular Post Darghel
#79 Borderland Defender (Borderlands) Difficulty: Uhm...kinda easy, but that's because I did the hardest trophies in 2009! Time to Complete: 4 days - overall time 10 years (!) Recommended: Not this version Total Score: 5/10 (ps3 version) While this isn't technically my first game for my old ps3 (It was folklore, but it has no trophies), Borderlands was my very first "big AAA" game for it and my very first trophy on my list, which is "Paid in Fyrestone". The story of how I got this platinum is kinda funny too! For starters, I remember buying this version because I also had an xbox360 BUT no Xbox live, while ps3 had free internet mp...so I bought this one and played it there but immediately I noticed the game is a mess and barely worked: constant slowdowns, fps drops (it was 30 fps back then) constantly pop-ups, bad textures, you name it! So time goes on and eventually I would buy this game again next year...on pc. "PC master race" jokes aside, ps3 version was a complete clusterfuck and this was the time where a lot of ps3 ports were from xbox and worse than ever (like Bayonetta on xbox being great, but on ps3 being subpar at best). After buying it on pc I decided to sell my copy, as I had no intention to replay again. Fast forward to a few days ago, I bought the GOTY version on ps4 and I was talking to my sister about borderlands and how my first trophy was that game (she isn't a trophy hunter but she supports me and helps me out from time to time, as well as teasing me with "are you gonna platinum thiiiiiis?") as well as how that platinum would be difficult to achieve as one trophy is very hard to obtain today (https://psnprofiles.com/trophy/190-borderlands/38-and-theyll-tell-two-friends this one) and I thought to show her which one is it: I boot up my account on my phone, find my borderlands trophies and then I realize "Crap, I actually got this one!". Not just that one, I also did all the co-op trophies back in 2009 (except one, Duelinator) and all I had left was to finish the game and do all quests! For a couple of days, I was pondering what to do, since my copy was sold and only way to play it again was to buy on the psn from ps3 (which sucks in comparison to ps4). Well, the fact you see this trophy here tells you what eventually happened! But the game, unfortunately, didn't age well...no I mean the game itself is great, it's fun just like I remembered, but the ps3 version is still a mess and I don't regret switching to pc back then: it's just a clusterfuck to play, constant glitches and bugs (had several crashes during the Mad Mel fight) and it keeps slowing down is incredible it didn't crash as often as I thought! It's almost unplayable on ps3...but on ps4 is actually great! I played it a little before going back to this and it was amazing, and so many QoL changes such as a minimap showing (which is absent here), better menus, and item pick up on sprint. Bottom line, while I had a lot of fun playing this game, I didn't have fun playing THIS particular version and that is why I highly discourage getting this one: get the ps4 version with all DLC and don't look back. You're not gonna miss anything! Edited July 13, 2020 by Darghel Edited the story bit a little better.
Popular Post Dry
Platinum #69 (nice): Need For Speed: Heat The Need For Speed Collect all trophies I could not say no to this game upon discovering I could get my first month of EA Access for 2 Aussie Dollars. For the most part I liked this installment but for some reason there are features and other things in the 2015 reboot (the NFS game I played before this) I preferred over this game. The worst part of this game by far is the soundtrack. Most of the music is either alright, meh or just sraight-up audio normie garbage. As for the platinum hunt, it's not too difficult if you can gain a good enough understanding of the game as early on as possible. Escaping cop chases felt a lot more challenging than the other games because in the other NFS titles I've played I could complete the games/stories without ever getting busted (Most Wanted 2012 doesn't count in a way becuase there's a trophy for being caught) Once you get a fast/powerful enough vehicle this becomes a non-issue. My least favourite part of the journey was at the end going for the collectibles and getting 3 stars on all activities because I had pretty much done everything else with this game's trophies. Collectibes weren't an issue but some activities did require more effort than others. The drift zones in particular were the most fustrating, half way through I became tired of getting 2 stars on some of these but I ended up getting the right build for the rest of the collection and I got much more use to my drift handing in the process. Popular Post Conor
#69 (nice)- SAINTS ROW: THE THIRD (PS3) Kingpin Enjoyment: 8.5/10 Challenge: 3/10 Time Taken: 7 months, 1 week, 3 days (35 hours in-game including DLC) Rarity: 1.8 Ultra Rare (PSN) / 12.06% Rare (PSNProfiles) Hardest Trophy: You're My Hero!- Complete ALL challenges The Saints Row series is one that I've been playing since its very inception, with the first title on Xbox 360. While that game is dated and clunky, the sequel was a massive improvement. However, while many people swear by Saints Row 2 as the series' high point, I actually think it went from strength to strength as the series continued, really setting it apart from other open world "GTA clones", which is sort of ironic given that the series is the most often- cited example of such games. Similar to previous titles, the story pits the Third Street Saints against three gangs for domination of the city, this time moving things to the city of Steelport after a bank heist goes awry. However, instead of choosing which gangs to fight, you first deal with the Morningstar, then the Deckers followed by the Luchadores, while also fending off the military police organisation S.T.A.G. along the way. You also don't need to build up rep to take on the story missions. Respect is instead necessary for the various unlocks and upgrades you can purchase. The activities are still around and necessary for taking over territory. It makes a brave choice to "kill" Johnny Gat at the beginning, and I do think the story suffers a little bit for his absence. However, the zaniness makes up for it as you go into cyberspace, drop a massive steel ball ornament on your foes and beat up your opponents in a luche libre wrestling match... with chainsaws. There's also a massive sky fortress and VTOLS and zombies. As IGN would say, it has something for everyone. I also 100%-ed the game as the DLC trophies don't take too long. Overall, a great game that is fairly straightforward and not too time-consuming, although you have to complete a ton of challenges and play for over 30 hours for one trophy in particular. I got it because I spent a lot of time just dicking around.

Popular Post Undead Wolf
#320 - Persona 5 Royal The Phenomenal Phantom Thief Obtained all trophies. When I played Persona 5 back in 2017, it quickly became one of my favourite games. I've been anticipating a re-release similar to Persona 4 Golden ever since then, and now that it's here, it definitely lived up to my expectations. Most of what's here is familiar to those who've played the original version, but throughout my playthrough, I was constantly noticing new scenes, gameplay mechanics, refinements, etc. It helped keep thing fresh. Plus, it has been years since my last playthrough, so I was hazy on a lot of the details anyway. I especially loved the new characters, Yoshizawa and Maruki. Without spoiling anything, the way they tie into the story is done excellently. If I didn't know any better, I would have thought they were always a part of the game which is more than I can say about Marie from P4G who always felt a bit tacked-on (as much as I love her). The third semester was a great addition to the story and really fleshed out the rather lacklustre endgame in the original. It was a great sendoff for the characters I love so much. Futaba still best girl of course. ? The platinum was a lot more basic this time around, only requiring you to get the true ending and try out some of the new additions. Not gonna lie, that was kind of disappointing, because I would have gladly spent the time completing the Compendium and what not again if there was a trophy associated with it. Still, I maxed out all the Confidants even if it wasn't required because it doesn't feel right playing a Persona game any other way. ? At least I have another excuse to post this image. Best. Game. Ever. I'll leave off with one of the excellent new songs in Royal. The final Palace has some amazing new songs too, but I don't want to spoil it for those who haven't played the game yet. This is the new battle theme instead. ?
Popular Post DamagingRob
#464- Gris Personal growth Collect all trophies I... don't think Gris lived up to the hype. And my tablet keeps wanting to correct it to "Grid" and confuse everyone. Playing it blind was probably a dumb idea. Chapter select doesn't work well for mopping up stuff, because there aren't enough of them and they're spread too far apart. And I'm not sure how (or if) you can tell which collectibles you've already picked up, without going to the spot it is/was. Not to say it was bad, though. Just wasn't this amazing thing it had been built up in my mind to be. It's a side scrolling game, and feels a bit like Journey or something of that nature. You pretty much just explore this beautiful world, that looks like a painting, solving puzzles and doing some platforming along the way. I got hung up on this game a lot, not really sure what to do. I don't know if that's normal for a blind run, or I'm just dumb. :/ A lot of interesting and new mechanics are presented as you play through. With my favorite being Spoiler the section in the forest with the cute rock/plant creature. He becomes your little buddy, and mimics your moves. Jumping when you jump, and ground pounding when you turn into a block. He also likes them apples. I was sad when he left.. And that's about it, other than I have no idea what the story was supposed to be about, or the message it wanted to convey. But if you're looking for a game with pretty nice visuals/music and a peaceful time, I guess this game's for you. Popular Post AK-1138
Platinum #525: Difficulty: 6/10 Playtime: 15-20 hours Enjoyment: 8/10 So here we are at one of the best sequels in history in terms of improving upon the original. It's bigger, it's bolder, (the boulders are also bigger), it's Crash 2! From a purely objective perspective, it's probably the best game in the trilogy, but truth be told, my heart's kind of set on Warped, probably since it was my first one. It's funny how that works. The focus on sliding and the increased jumping height the practice provides really inundates this game with a completely different energy than CB1. The action is a bit less stop and go as the level layouts are much more fluid, offering many more chances to take a risk and save time with precision jumping. On the whole, Naughty Dog really get into a whole new groove here, brilliantly capturing the original's missed potential with newfound confidence, verve and ingenuity that really separated Crash from the pack and made him iconic, and to my mind, still the One True PlayStation Mascot. Gotta be forthright here, though; my praise extends merely to the original game. As a remaster, I could point out a dozens of things they either changed or couldn't get quite right... things that are, at least to me, an indelible part of the experience. Things that no amount of high-res textures or improved lighting can make up for. I'm not gonna go on an endless rant here, but suffice to say I'm sufficiently disappointed enough to probably go back to the original now I've earned my trophies. Hate to see a remaster fail in its attempt at making the original OBSOLETE. We'll see. Anyways, the time trials are on the whole slightly more forgiving than CB1, though there is the occasional stumbling block or two. This is probably the one I had to look up the most information about, as some of the time-saving tactics are, shall we say, less than intuitive. I did do it the hard way and actually got completed a level's trial without any handholding first, though. Flawed remaster or no, Crash 2 is still a great time to be had. You won't even know what you're missing if this is your first time around. It remains a unique, stone-cold platforming classic that anyone with even a passing interest in the genre would be a fool to pass up, challenge or no.
Popular Post Zach
#169 The Last of Us Part II Enjoyment: 8.5/10 Difficulty: 2/10 Time: 30-35hrs Ah, the gaming controversy of 2020. Was it as bad as the leaks suggested? No. At least not to me. I give the gameplay/mechanics and visuals a 10 and the story/characters a 7. Averaged out, I give the game a 8.5/10 as the final score. Even with the leaks everywhere, I managed to avoid them and enter the game with fresh eyes. Honestly, this game is worth the full price. It has an interesting story, even with its problems. It's probably peak graphics when it comes to PS4. This game is truly beautiful. I honestly didn't regret playing this game. However, I hope Naughty Dog takes a break from this series to perfect what could be a third game.

Popular Post Redgrave
- #187: So Long, RC - Resident Evil 3 I knew less about the original to this one than I did RE2, so I didn't really know what changes were made other than there isn't a choice system and the Clocktower level was removed in the remake. I still enjoyed it even though it was definitely a lot shorter than RE2 or at least it felt that way. Jill's redesign grew on me, and it was nice to unlock the S.T.A.R.S. outfit for her. I wasn't too fond of the way Nemesis looked though, mainly because he looked like he was covered in trash bags so I definitely prefer the big coat. In terms of gameplay it felt pretty similar to RE2 except it felt like there weren't as many weapons and items. I noticed that there were no blue herbs at all so you couldn't make a R+G+B herb which I don't know if that was something also different from the original or not. I liked the rolling mechanic though since it made dodging zombies easier but apparently using it also makes the Dynamic Difficulty go up. Now for the part about how scary the game was. I think it did some things more scarier than RE2 and then RE2 still did a lot better than RE3. The first one is the regular enemies. Most of the time the zombies aren't really a threat and because of the dodge they were easy to avoid. The scariest enemies were the ones that can insta-kill you like the Hunter and the Hunter Gamma. I never died to a Hunter Gamma (I came close due to a spawn point on a higher difficulty though) but the lizard Hunter got me a couple of times with it's insta-kill attack which made them showing up more tense even with the Rocket Launcher and especially on the higher difficulties. However I think the enemies were scarier in RE2 because they were mostly in a linear building with dark rooms whereas RE3 felt more open, plus in RE2 you couldn't dodge out of zombies way. Now for comparing Nemesis and Mr. X. Nemesis didn't really have much different from Mr. X other than he could jump in front of you and grab you with a tentacle, but like all other enemies you can dodge him if he tries to punch you. Mr. X in RE2 I think was done a lot better since not only was he hard to take down but he would constantly stalk you throughout the police station whereas Nemesis is more scripted which I guess couldn't be helped. So yeah, Nemesis wasn't all too bad in terms of being scary... ...until you play on Hardcore and above difficulties. That's when Nemesis decides to not play around and will sprint towards you while also ready to clobber you with his fists. Also he can sort of dodge himself but it's more of a side-step than a dodge. On Nightmare and Inferno he bolts for you and will pummel you. I had him once show up out of a corner and blindside me with the only thing getting me out of it was the dodge. So I think in terms of giving more of a shock scare Nemesis gets that win while Mr. X is more of an unnerving and paranoia fueling one. The trophies themselves aren't so bad and thanks to the Shop for buying the Rocket Launcher and the Defense Coins it made the harder difficulties more bearable. However even with those you can still die either through an insta-kill enemy or Nemesis smacking you around. Probably the toughest part of the Platinum is the final boss fight on Nightmare and Inferno because not only does the final boss attack much faster but they can also stun-lock you and kill you in two or three hits with a combo. However I found out through Powerpyx's guide that you can stay in the corner of the room which from what I could tell limited the attacks the boss can do and would make you harder to reach. I don't really know the specifics of it but when I used that strategy I didn't die to it as opposed to playing normally where I would get stun-locked. You can still get hit though but you don't get hit as much.
Popular Post Dr_Mayus
Plat 296-Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom WOW...I can't believe I actually platted this game. In 2010 I rented this game from Blockbuster...played for a bit...got stuck at a puzzle and quit. Then 2 years later I went to that same Blockbuster and bought this game as part of their closing out sale Well I finally decided to plat this game as part of the STAY HOME and #PLATINUMWITHME and glad to finally finish it The funny thing is the part I got stuck at in 2010...I don't even know why it caused me problems but that's life I guess Anyways this was a pretty fun adventure game with a few annoying things. 1. the Day/Night cycle was stupid as it was mainly used for getting the Memory Shards. It was just a dumb system for a collectible that should not have been included. 2. The Majin is a fucking moron and things were just made more difficult because this dumb oaf kept falling down, not going where you asked or taking way too long to cast its magic (so you lost your combo). The game is colourful, has good puzzles and nice big boss fights. The story is nothing special but it isn't offensive either. So if you want a fun little adventure game for the PS3 check this one out
