IntroPhenom
Chickens on the Road Platinum Chicken Chickens have gained some self awareness, breed in incredible numbers, and flood the streets. Some have mutated with a green tone to their feathers, some are gigantic in size. Their eyeballs are grotesque, they show some intelligence and much fear. An unknown world, one who's success hinges upon sensibility and responsible action in regard to navigating the new landscape. Humanity's response? Run the f*ckers over without remorse. You play as a rogue truck driver, racing down the street against the regular flow of traffic, swerving with a dual purpose; to avoid oncoming cars and trucks since a collision will end your game, and to crush chickens for points. Mutated green chickens hurt your truck, and deduct points, regular chickens accumulate points. Smaller birds are worth one point, larger worth ten, but the larger chickens will try and run away when they see you coming. This is their sole survival strategy, and it is not effective. 1100 points net you a platinum trophy. More of an experience than Road Bustle, I'd say, since you must do more than run circles in a patch of grass for a win. Perhaps the next installment from this developer will offer an even more robust experience.

Mariner1534
#54: Trover Saves the Universe - Platinum Trophy (Thanks for your money suckers) This game was okay. I picked it up because I like Rick and Morty (same creator) and wanted an easy, low-stress experience for a change. I really enjoyed the humor at first - it kind of felt like a playable show from one of those "Interdimensional Cable" episodes of R&M, and the trophies themselves were funny. Honestly though, it kind of got grating after a while, especially when replaying levels for trophy cleanup. And the game itself is a pretty bare-bones platformer with basic combat and object moving/throwing puzzles. Wasn't very exciting, but it's pretty short so you'll probably be done with it before you're really sick of it. BTW, I'd recommend playing in VR if you have it. Very easy plat, just one "collect everything" trophy and a bunch of level specific ones. Levels are short so it's not too much of a pain to replay them if you missed something. I have played the original DMC5 and have that platinum as well, but this version is more enhanced and much harder imo due to the Bloody Palace trophies being added along with Vergil. The game always feels new because of the masterful combat system that Capcom had created. The new addition of Vergil makes the game feel brand new and that is pretty much what it was aiming for. DMC is one of my favorite franchises and I'm glad I am able to obtain this platinum in my collection!
Popular Post Draps-1337
#98 Sackboy: A Big Adventure Difficulty 5/10 Quite a fun little platformer, excellent music and the familiar little big planet music syncing with moving platforms and animations, etc. multiplayer trophies are all achievable with two controllers (I only have 1 dualsense so I ended up remote playing from ps4 and using two ps4 controllers.) That said completing a co-op level would be so much easier with another player. Only one trophy really gave me a bit of grief which is the infamous String It Together. Getting the gold time is not very hard, but actually finishing the challenge is pretty rough. I found it was best to take my time around the crabs, cactus' and fire. and still had 1 minute of leeway at the end. Happy Hunting!
Popular Post EIdain
Platinum #63 - Assassins Creed ValhallaViking Legend - Very Rare: 5.48% I enjoyed this one quite a bit more than Odyssey. I think mainly because the setting just really clicked with me, I also love a game with a base building or upgrading mechanic. It still suffers from similar issues such as poor pacing of the main plot and being at least 10-20 hours longer than it needs to be. But I felt like the writing here is much better which leads to better side quests. In addition the variety and quality of the open world content is also improved. It was nice turning up at a location not knowing what to expect. There's other small improvements like the decision to tone down the mercenary system and the removal of the pointless conquest / battle for region control that was in Odyssey. I much prefer that they choose to focus on fewer sets of armour as I spent way too long in my inventory deleting stuff in Odyssey, however I don't know why they removed transmog and some of the stat bonuses don't feel worthwhile. Combat is fine, again it's very animation lead and more about looking cool than actually being great. It still lags behind many other open-world action games in this regard. I could've done without the finishing animations it locks you into as it really slows things down mid fight. One last thing worth mentioning is that it runs quite poorly at the moment on my PS4, I've had it blue screen crash as many times if not more than Mass Effect: Andromeda did at launch. It's also pretty buggy. I'd recommend the game, especially if you're a fan of the series, but you'll definitely have a better time with it if you wait for some performance and bug patches. I quite liked this trophy list, it makes you do everything the game has to offer with a couple of fun hidden trophies and random contextual ones. At the moment it's made less fun by the high chance you'll run into a bug or glitch that ruins something. If you play this in a few months or years down the line after some patches, it'll be much more simple. It's definitely a grind though.Enjoyment: 8/10Difficulty: 2/10Playtime: Around 130 hours Edited December 13, 2020 by EIdain

Popular Post Golem25
Platinum #76 - Steins;Gate (PS Vita, European Version) Sky Clad Observer - Unlocked all trophies. 9,059 Owners - 3,796 Achievers for a percentage of 41.90% (average completion; 53.59%) Enjoyment; 7/10 Difficulty; 1/10 Trophies; 7/10 (Excellent CG used for tiles, great Platinum tile, hilarious names - unlock requirements sorta dull) Comprehension of metaphysics; 1.048596/10 Well, I finally know where UltraFire got his previous avatar from! I stumbled into a used game shop a few weeks ago, where I found a copy Steins;Gate for just fifteen BritBucks. I had never seen this game on store shelves before and the pricetag was really rather generous, so I just had to take it home. I gave it a regular read on my dummy Vita account to enjoy the story and get a feel for the game's mechanics, before adding it to my main account to try for a past midnight speedrun - something I wanted to do to influence my 'Trophies by hour of the day stat'. That didn't quite pan out and I had to do it across two nights, but ti was still fun trying it out. After all, speedrunning is the only challenge you will get from a visual novel. And with that in mind, there is but very little I can tell you about this game without delving into spoilers! As such, just some general observations that fans of the series will recognize, whilst those who haven't given the game a try yet will remain blissfully unaware; - Mayuri's smile is precious and MUST be protected - I get that Daru is a stereotypical otaku, but could they have, like, not made his artwork fill half the screen? Guy's massive. - 4℃ appeared for all of five minutes but his character art gives me nightmare, guy don't look right - Feris needs to tone it down a little with the catgirl schtick - Lukako does more for trans acceptance than all of the Western industry combined - I had good fun reading the tips, some funky stuff in there Also have to say that the character art is fantastic, really unique with the patterning to hair and clothing. The backgrounds not so much, Akihabara looks flat and dull - it pales in comparison to √Letter (but then that game was literally supported by the tourism board of Matsue/Shimane). The story is probably a wee bit better in Steins;Gate, but again, I shouldn't go into it here. If you are even a bit open-minded and in want of a real mindfuck though, this is the game for you. Also, the absolute state of some of these Trophy names, LMAO. Fractal Androgynous, Discontinuous Qualia, Froggy Fad Demise, that's some real space age stuff right there. Love the Plat tile, people who played it will recognize where it was taken from. You can even still see a bit of confetti.

Popular Post Undead Wolf
#339 - Tales of Innocence R テイルズ オブ イノセンス R マスター "テイルズ オブ イノセンス R"を 極めた証。あなたの愛に感謝! I started this 9 months ago, but it was put on hiatus after finishing the first playthrough while I got the plat in SO4. Finally got back to it recently and have been putting some serious work in! ? Now of course this game was never localised, so the voices and text were all in Japanese. Thankfully, most of it is Hiragana and Katakana, so menu navigation and what not wasn't much of an issue for me and my basic level understanding of Japanese. Having a good walkthrough and access to the Japanese wiki really helped on the platinum journey too of course. The plat itself wasn't difficult, but it does take a fair bit of time. I'd done 4 playthroughs by the end with the total playtime for getting all of the trophies (except one) in around 64 hours. I say all except one because this is a game that has a trophy for playing a total of 100 hours, so obviously I had to idle for a while and let the timer tick up. Obviously I can't really comment on the story or characters in this game since since I was skipping the cutscenes/dialogue, but I enjoyed the gameplay. Pretty similar to what I'd already experienced in Hearts R. But yeah, with this game done, that takes my total number of unique Tales plats up to 9! All that's left now is Vesperia (at least until Arise comes out). Planning on tackling sometime next year! ?

Popular Post SirDave1988
#122 Mortal Kombat 11 (PS5) Elder GodKomplete all trophies Was a breeze going through this game for a second time as many of the trophies auto popped starting them again. It was weird though, some auto-popped, like the Tutorials, the Krypt and the Story mode, but some required you to start again, such as the Kasual matches and the Brutalities, even though it recorded stats for both. Oh well, it ended up being easy enough in the end haha. As far as the difference between this and the PS4 version, there isn't too much tbf besides the improved graphics/resolution and drastically improved load times (seriously, it loads in like 2-3 seconds, if that). Other than that, it is pretty much exactly the same, but I hadn't played it since originally getting the platinum about 18 months prior, so re-learning the game again was a challenge lol. One thing that was really annoying was that, on the disc-based PS5, the PS4 version constantly kept trying to install itself in the background without me asking, even though it doesn't require this version for the PS5 version to run, very irritating. Popular Post EcoShifter
Time is on my side Earn all trophies My favorite and one of, if not, DONTNOD Entertainment best games. What. . . a ride this was. Started this back sometime in October with vague hope in making it the platinum for the most popular holiday of the aforementioned month. Utterly failed to complete that task due to underestimating the platinum requirements and my attention span for the first half of the game. The beginning of the game deceived me greatly for what I too quickly assumed would be a mediocre or subpar experience from then to the end. The trophy list. No bugged or difficulty trophies. It's also a standard list, but the list's requirements are actually generous, despite there being some missable trophies (though the game isn't long or drags on). While a certain trophy does exist ("Not even once"), the reason the list is generous is because it could have had more demanding trophies, such as ones requiring seeing all endings, completing all side quest, not letting anyone die, etc. I mostly prefer the way it turned out so that—in addition to less overall time consumption/fatigue and repetition—the game's rich replay-value doesn't go to waste on exhausting trophies' acquisition. Now problems I actually had with the list came from mistakes I made committing to my usual game-plan in not following guides on a first playthrough: reading Usher Talltree's personal notebook during the "Pandora's box" investigation, which locked me out of a collectible for the "Lorekeeper" trophy, resulting in time traveling backwards via an old save file to avoid making that mistake again (guides should not have omitted listing this fact in their overview. . .); and some unnecessary actions that I thought would void the "Lorekeeper" trophy, like initially thinking NPCs dying from anything other than them being Embraced. (In retrospect, however, my thoughtfulness there prevented me missing the trophies that do require NPCs to be alive.) General issues that bothered me: The load-times (mainly the mini ones that pop up when reaching certain spots in the world and ofc the traditional ones, especially after deaths). The temporary weird movement control initially after exiting a menu/door. Despite there being a destruction system in the game, occasionally getting trapped in corners against non-breakable/moveable objects during combat while locked on and dodging sideways. Even with shortcuts, unlocked doors, and upgraded stamina allowing you to get around the world in a moderately fair amount of time, the lack of a fast travel system. Would have been an appreciated addition considering the complex world design and average locomotion. Embracing being completely scripted to predetermined areas only is more inconvenient than it needs to be—there was instances where citizens could have been embraced in the spot they were in or some other blindspot nearby where others wouldn't have noticed. The game has an adequate enough stealth system, so i'm not sure why embracing works the way it does as in having to guide someone to a specific spot. All that said, this is a great game, especially for being AA and coming from DONTNOD Ent., presently. (Patches could have improved the quality greatly after launch, but I wouldn't know too much about that for obvious reasons.) Strong world-building and atmosphere, very detailed environmental design (especially on PC. Good level design as well, especially in areas of importance), excellent industrial based OST that also greatly compliments the story progression and dualistic struggle with the main character, compelling narrative, high replayvalue, incredible animations surprisingly (mainly referring to those gameplay based) and attention to detail (while also applying to graphics in some cases, and despite a few oversights, im talking in general), unique and remarkably written characters, and more. The issues that affects the game's overall quality besides some technical stuff is that a lot of things have both apparently good and bad aspects coexisting, resulting in some ruined greatness. Like, the graphics are only underwhelming in some areas (e.g., lighting) and great in other areas (e.g., environments). Same exact thing with the combat, story, voice acting, etc (those kind of things aren't purely bad as some have terribly made it out to be). But it's only certain components of the game. Things like the OST, atmosphere, characterization, world-building, etc, is universally great. Now a brief mention of the hardest boss for me (since my answer differs from the more common top 2): Doris Fletcher (or the final boss). Her instantaneous dash along with the quirks of her long reaching arm and her infinite spawning and relentless henchskals made it so. Vampyr is clearly an underrated gem. There's actually more praises I'd like to mention, like precisely how fun it is to witness without your control or cause the different factions to fight each other—especially in the cases when I took advantage of powerful enemies taking enough punishment to make a drastic difference for me when it was my turn to fight em, and also how you can legitimately bring an enemy from one distant enough area where they would normally never have to fight someone of an opposed faction to an area with them to have them fight each other—but it's a bit difficult to talk about pros indepth and objectively, which is why I more often list criticisms for games. It's much easier in comparison. Anyway, i'm completely onboard for a prequel (with William Marshal as the MC), a sequel, or whatever. Also really hope that TV adaption is finalized. Popular Post Charizarzar
#130: Far Cry: New Dawn Conqueror Enjoyment: 6/10 Difficulty: 2/10 Fun enough with a really pretty environment, but not one of my favourite Far Crys. I hope with FC6 that Ubisoft move on from their silent protagonist and have an actual character in place of the half-assed male/female one you create in 5 and New Dawn. There's just something I really dislike about cutscenes where other characters are staring at you and acting like you're the greatest thing since sliced bread while your character just stands there like a gargoyle, saying nothing. It doesn't really work in a non-RPG. It was a pretty good follow-up to 5 though. It's a short game, but it fits its purpose for showing us what happened after the nuclear fallout. Trophy wise, it was pretty easy. The only annoying aspects were the 7 expeditions that you have to replay 3 times each.
Popular Post StraightVege
Technically not my most recent, but the only one I have time to write about today: Out of Bounds #245 Ultra Rare, 0.65% (Now my rarest platinum!) In an industry brimming with soulless, design by committee cash grabs, Bound is so refreshingly novel that it's almost difficult to write about. While it can be boiled down to a 3D platformer, that description wouldn't come close to doing it justice. The narrative follows a young woman from a broken home, who must overcome her childhood fears, before finally confronting her estranged father. In doing this, the player dives into an imaginative, metaphorical world of contemporary dance and undulating geometric shapes, where these fears literally reach out to bind her fantasy alter ego, The Princess. Only by building courage through her expressive dancing abilities can she press forward, and ultimately overcome them for good. Every last movement of the character—from the largest to the most minuscule—is done through graceful dance, beautifully motion captured from professional, Maria Udod. Depending upon which order the levels are played (you choose them non-linearly from the woman's journal), it changes the visual appearance and available shortcuts in subsequent levels, since certain fears won't be present to impede you anymore. These creative, dynamic environments play with perspective in very surprising ways, so you might suddenly find yourself walking on what used to be a ceiling, or peering through an opening as the wall spontaneously peels away. Another unique twist is that Bound is really built around speedrunning, and thusly the world is filled with optional "out-of-bounds" paths that make you feel like you're breaking the game, intimidating long jumps that look impossible, and many other crazy tricks. You're meant to go fast, absolutely mastering the mechanics, and memorizing level layouts, and you won't be earning the platinum until you can legitimately run this game. The overall package is wonderfully different compared to anything else I've played, but it gives me no pleasure to say that I don't think it ultimately succeeds from a gameplay point of view. It's difficult to make a good 3D platformer in general, and Bound's ambitious artistic design is often at odds with its precise platforming aspirations. I had endless frustrations with the stubborn cinematic camera, inconsistent jumping, and overwrought dancing animations—it just doesn't add up to a fun platforming experience much of the time. Sometimes, the main character will simply do whatever the heck she wants, and ballet her way off a ledge, or refuse to edge-grab. Or, the camera will pull away to show off a cool view at the worst possible moment, leading to some infuriating outcomes. I rarely had confidence that the character would do what I expected, and that's unacceptable in a platformer. Playing through casually, the game is rather boring and easy, while speedruns will be too challenging for most people, so it's not surprising that Bound is such a niche title. It seems they tried to appeal to both mainstream and hardcore audiences, but failed to really capture either. Unfortunate, because it could have been remembered in much the same way that Journey is, with some tweaking. This is a project bursting with heart and soul, which has real artistic merit, but it just isn't that great of a video game. It absolutely deserves respect for what it tries to do, and I think it's owed at least one playthrough; I really wish it felt better to play, though. Perhaps I couldn't call it one of the best games I've played this year, but it is certainly the most interesting by far! Kudos to the folks at Plastic Studios for trying something uncommonly original, even if it didn't quite work in my view. Popular Post snakebit10
Be Yourself #326 I really didn't know what to expect. I had only knew of Peter Parker as Spider-Man until I was introduced to Miles Morales in Marvel's Spider-Man on PS4. I was a big comic reader as a kid and Spider-Man was one of my favorites. Haven't kept up lately and honestly don't know when Miles Morales was introduced as Spider-Man. Now unto the game. It is as good as the PS4 game. Same mechanics. Story wise it is short but that was already known beforehand. Being taken into the world of Miles Morales a little bit, now I know a little more about him and who his foes are in the universe. Insomniac did a really good job with the game. It looks great on the PS5. I played most of the game with the RT 60 FPS mode that was just added this week. I love all the Christmas themes through out and actually took some time just to look at the Christmas stuff in the game. Trophy wise it is straight forward. Only trophy that gave me a bit of trouble was the 100x combo. Took about an hour to nail it. Again I knew it was a short story. I didn't mind as we need these kind of games also. Not everything has to be 50 to 100 hours to complete. With the collectibles and 100% everything in the game it does stretch out the length some.
