Popular Post DoctorGameGeek
#23 (11th in the time of COVID-19): Portal Knights Difficulty: 3 / 10 The adventure and PvE aspect of the game is simple and straightforward, almost disappointingly so. The only gripe is that monsters can easily overwhelm you, especially if you haven't kept up with equipment upgrades. The automatic camera movement during close-range battle doesn't help either. Nor does digging through or falling off of an island. Nevertheless, the penalties for dying are so meager that you shouldn't even worry. Instead, prioritize building one of each facility on your home island -- buying a vacant one from an Island Merchant is preferred -- and upgrading them as soon as you get the goods to do so. Upgrades require progressively rarer ores and jewels. So, you should hoard them, as well as coal, and natural items (fruits, amber, logs, scales, animal fur) in order to upgrade facilities and gear as soon as you can. If you're not having luck with gear upgrades, the game is pretty generous about throwing you better equipment; waiting for a full set sucks though. Another thing, place potions and buffing items in a chest at home and hang on to them. Since I played as a Ranger, I got good at dodging things and never used them (especially when I got a talent that dropped life orbs after striking the enemy). If you're clumsy, keep potions in stock; and honestly, it's easier to just buy them off NPCs since there is so much vendor trash to sell. As long as you frequently check the map for events, you will earn most trophies through following the story and very minimal grinding. The worst grinding was for the Greatbeasts to drop recipes for Fluffy's armor, but the drop rates weren't abysmal or anything. The most hilarious grinding was destroyed event islands to work toward the Cubicide trophy. Enjoyment: 6 / 10 Where this game shines: the building mode (obvs, check my status, I'm addicted to it) and the surprisingly helpful co-op game play. Regarding the latter, I watched Portal Knights streams on Twitch and lucked out in meeting a group of veteran players who've clocked hundreds of in-game hours. And the truth is, the story itself -- DLC included too, maybe? -- is so short that it pays to get distracted doing other things than portal hunting. Random events spawn so frequently that they almost feel distracting -- and yet you have to do them to unlock their trophies. If you want to up the completion time, simply make a universe with large islands. It'll take significantly longer to find NPCs, materials, and portals on those than normal-sized islands. The combat is enjoyable too albeit simplified. Players can waylay most anything the game throws at it, even mid-bosses. If anything, I regretted not being able to build full elemental gear sets. Curiously, my Ranger could only create fire-elemental skills, and I learned way, way too incredibly late that I could wield magic of other elements even though I wasn't a Mage. I was also restricted to Fire and Earth elemental armor sets, only finding elemental rings of other types late in game. Nevertheless, I could wield elemental weapons for everything except Electro and Shadow; and when I hit the level cap -- a paltry 30 -- I could mow everything down. Multi-strike procs are game-breaking. Where this game lacks: Despite boasting over 40 unique islands to visit on the adventure, the game will mind-blowingly generate almost identical underground and ruin layouts. Events are unique (e.g., find treasure chest, vanquish X number of monsters, meet this weird NPC) and mostly ungratifying. You win furniture and portal stones, all of which you can and will junk because that backpack is too damn small. Once you finish the Pillars quest and spend that vendor trash dough, you've bought near-end-game armor. And at that point, you meh everything else. Other weird quirks: Seasonal events that you can play if you manually set your PS4 to the right date. But hey, I already got the platinum trophy; and as much as it irked me to see unresolved quests in my queue, I was at peace. I built my brand new home. And after getting victimized by Metal Slug XX, I need something soothing and chill to play. This title totally hit the spot. Popular Post RoastedPeanut
#112 - Mercenary Kings Difficulty - 6/10 Enjoyment - 9/10 Platinum Rarity - 1.39% I put this one off for ages, but it was really damn fun. I can't remember how many years ago it was free, but if anyone has it in their backlog its definitely worth a play. Plenty of guns and gun parts to craft and customise and most of the 113 missions are pretty fun. It can become a bit of a grind, especially when you're playing the same missions over and over for materials, but it didn't take away from the overall experience.

Popular Post Viper
#217 Super Destronaut DX Platinum Destronaut #218 Super Destronaut: Land Wars Platinum Alien ' First game was actually kind of fun. It sort of reminds me of Pac-Man Championship Edition DX, how it took the classic Pac-Man formula and made it more vibrant and colorful with a lot of VFX. This does the same for Space Invaders. The second game on the other hand took Space Invaders, and made it the simplest FPS game you can imagine. First game provides nostalgia and is actually pretty fun. Second game is your typical easy Platinum. #219 Darksiders III BFA This one was certainly a ride. Even though I decided to go with Classic Combat and play on Easy for my first playthrough, the first 10-15 hours of this I absolutely hated it. Even easy difficultly was actually pretty damn hard because this game took every cue it could from the Soulsbourne series. You had very spaced out checkpoints, if you died you lost all your souls (currency) and had to back to the last checkpoint you found (which can sometimes be really far away) and all enemies respawn, and you'd have to make it back to where you died to get your souls back. If you don't learn how to perfect dodge in this game...then forget it. But after awhile, the game just "clicked"...my dodge timing was much better making it's a much better experience. So much so that I managed to get through the Crucible in 1 shot with relative ease...only needed 1 health item and that was on the Round 100 Boss. Apocalyptic difficulty on NG+ wasn't even really that bad, I had a couple of tough spots and enemies hit like bricks, but I never really felt uncomfortable with it....which has been my experience with all three of these games, I dread the Apocalyptic playthrough (or Deathinitive for DS2), but with making that my second playthrough it's never that bad. Story was decent, Fury was a likable character, combat, while I got used to it didn't need to be a Soulslike...but I'm ready to see where this all goes. This game still runs concurrently with DS1 and 2, would be nice to see what they doing next. Maybe Darksider 4 will finally give us that. Looking forward to Genesis, but waitin on PS+ for that...at this point it's a shoe in to hit the service sooner rather than later. Just need to get to level 100 and I'll have the 100%. Feeling like I might need to NG++ for a bit for that though.

Popular Post Jelly Soup
#144 - Concrete Genie Not bad at all. Plays well, sounds great, looks amazing. I found the whole 'power of friendship' thing trite as hell, but what can you do. Game is really good about hiding things in plain sight, and the end game gameplay switch up was pretty fun. I like how endearing the genies are. At first glace, they seem like they should be nightmare fuel animals, but I warmed up to them pretty quickly. Even the actual nightmare fuel ones later on weren't that bad. Not 100% yet, still need to do the VR stuff. I just didn't feel like going through all the rigmarole involved in setting that up right now.
Popular Post RedRodriguez87
#336: The Bard And here we have another pleasant surprise. It really feels like movie based games don't deserve their bad rap. For everyone that's bad, there is one that is at least decent and fun for a playthrough. You know all those cash-in games (mostly Nickelodeon based) that have those generic platformer beat-em-up shooter elements? This game would be like those but not lazy. It's the little touches they add to the combat that really make it stand out, like building up chains which result in more points to buy upgrades, melee moves that can lead into the air-juggling gunplay, 3rd AND first person aiming. The platforming isn't mind-blowing, but it never overstays its welcome and manages to offer quit a bit of variety from moment to moment; even the oddly out-of-nowhere golf minigame is a lot of fun. This another game where I don't have many bad things to say about it. But I did have a couple. Again, it would've been nice to skip the in-game cut-scenes and not HAVE to see them every time you replay a level, there is a tiny bit of a grind near the end for the platinum, not helped by the fact it's too easy to lose your combo streak due to the enemies throwing mobs of enemies at you off-camera. I liked that the game stayed true to the wonderful uglier-than-sin character designs of the movie, but their realistic designs too often blend into the realistic old west aesthetic, which means more often than not you will take a cheap shot and lose your streak. Oh, and the platinum sucks. It's the same as a story-based trophy; nothing unique about it at all. Like, they could have made it shinier or bluer. But still, this game is awesome and you should play it. Edited February 19, 2021 by RedRodriguez87

Popular Post Rias Gremory
Platinum #116 Persona 5 Royal EU Uncommon: 43.79% Difficulty: 3/10. Enjoyment: 10/10. Challenge: 10/10. Music: 10/10. Grind Difficulty: 8/10. Genre: RPG, Action, Adventure, Fantasy, Persona, Romance, Harem, Ecchi and Murder. Platinum Time: 3 days and 20 hours. Same thing before from last year 2020 and this is when I earned Platinum #116 at that time. This was a fantastic and excellent experience to play an all-new Persona 5 Royal. The new palace was so mysterious and yet it shows a very interesting story to end it perfectly. The new minigames was really fun and exciting and even trained my character's baton pass at max. Akechi's challenge in darts was challenging at 701 darts. To be honest, I actually kinda liked it. Really impressive. Musics: Here's the best part you like people. The new music's for Persona 5 Royal was spot-on. It was just what I wanted to be and how I actually loved it. I'll list my Top 7 music's here the best. New areas: The new areas was new for me when I came across from place to place and yeah it was chilling, relaxing and weird vibe to it. I do love the new area surroundings. It was well creative and very interesting to see it with my own very eyes. White day: Ah yes the one thing Joker needed his revenge on those girls who jumped on him like a doormat. Joker didn't chose any of the girls, infact I chose Ryuji Sakamoto over the girls. I had to get my sweet revenge and that was the end of it. Takuto Maruki: The man was the toughest boss I ever faced out of all previous bosses in the palace. He uses his ultimate persona Adam Kadmon. A one giant driven powerful persona and hell he nearly almost defeated me and the phantom thieves in one strike. Highly and strong recommended for this masterpiece game. Next Platinum: ??? Popular Post rjkclarke
Platinum # 306 Cat Quest Le Platinum Trophy MEOW! I actually ended up picking this game up because I had seen loads of people on this thread and a few others talking about how fun it was. It didn't disappoint. It is a very fun game and it is very relaxing. I think the simplistic nature of the combat actually really benefits it. You could play this game in any sort of state haha, drunk, over tired you get the picture. So it is one of those games that would be really excellent to just play for a bit after a taxing day. The game has a very charming aesthetic as well, reminds me a lot of Letter Quest which is another great pick up and play type of game. Cat Quest seems to be on offer very often for a very good price, so if people are interested in it I definitely recommend it. I picked it up for under £2, so even if the game was atrocious (which it isn't) I don't think I would be eligible to complain that much anyway. It is hard to really say anything that negative about this game to be perfectly honest, it really is just quite good for what it is. It isn't perfect obviously, some of the quests do tend to get a bit repetitive if you play the game for a long period of time without taking a break. I don't know if this is available for VIta, I don't personally have one, but I think this game would be perfect for it, with the sort of "pick up and play" nature of it. Sort of how MGS: Peace Walker would have been excellent to play on a handheld, the short form mission structure is to borrow a cat pun nearly purrfect for this game. Cat Quest does a few things that I really like regarding trophies. I always like it when a trophy list practically forces you to see everything that the game has to offer especially in RPG's, which this does too. It has the pretty standard type of RPG trophies you would expect: finish the main quest, do all quests, unlock all fashion items, level your character to the max that kind of thing. None of these things really outstay their welcome. I guess you have to just think about it all in context, I think I've spent more time in games like Tales of Symphonia or in Yakuza games trying to do one specific thing that wouldn't even necessarily unlock a trophy than it took to unlock the platinum trophy for this game. it is a smaller scale game, so you tend to power through everything fairly quickly, which is no bad thing really. I'll have to pick up the sequel at some point!
postofficebuddy
Platinum #128: Blazblue Chronophantasma Extend Ultra rare, 1.99% Difficulty: 6.5/10 (highly skill dependent) Enjoyment: 5/10 Normally I enjoy the Blazblue games but this one just didn’t click with me. The piss poor voice acting kind of took me out of the experience. A decently challenging platinum. Completing all of one characters combo challenges is no joke. I’m kind confused why ‘I am the law’ and ‘Marital bliss‘ are the two rarest trophies. The combos you have to do for those are simple compared what you have to do for ‘Frame advantage’. On a bit of a side note I just noticed that the last 4 games that I platinumed are all fighting games (Skullgirls 2nd Encore, Samurai Showdown, Blazblue Central Fiction and this one).
Popular Post Viscera1900
#273 - Control Director of the FBC "Unlock all other trophies" Enjoyment: 8/10 Difficulty: 3/10 Platinum time: 5 days, 42 minutes 100% Completion time: 5 days, 22 hours Another gem completed thanks to PS Plus monthly freebies. I've been wanting to try out Control for a while now, because it's a game from Finns (the country I'm from). I'm glad to say that it was fairly enjoyable game to play and complete, but there are issues; I played this on the OG Playstation 4 and there are some very bad framerates during intense combat encounters which took away some enjoyment for me. The story is somewhat confusing and strange, but it's also the reason what made it interesting; every interactions with the janitor is pure gold for me. The PS Plus actually gave us the Ultimate Edition which means that I was able to tackle on DLC trophies with no extra cost which is AWESOME! The Foundation DLC was ok; it had some annoying collectible trophies (3 different kind), but there's a super awesome reward for finding all Maneki-nekos. The Altered World Events DLC was much more interesting and trophies were less tedious to get.
Popular Post Conor
#94- UNCHARTED: GOLDEN ABYSS [PS VITA] Platinum Collect all other 55 Trophies for the Trophy Enjoyment: 8/10 Challenge: 4/10 Time: 2 Weeks, 4 Days & 1 Hour (35 hours in-game) Rarity: 2.9% Ultra Rare (PSN) / 13.06% Rare (PSNProfiles) Hardest Trophy: Charted!- Crushing- Finish the game in Crushing Mode "Last time we took the 'scenic route' I wound up in a ditch behind the Taj Mahal- naked..." I absolutely loved the Uncharted series on PlayStation 3, with Uncharted 2: Among Thieves standing as probably my favourite game of the seventh generation. In each their own way, the trilogy made their marks and are a testament to the dedication of Naughty Dog to their craft (alongside their other opus, The Last of Us which is also one of the absolute best PS3 games) as well as Sony to their first-party lineup. But how does the swashbucking, high-octane, wisecracking adventure formula translate to Sony's portable machine? Quite well, actually. Perhaps more focused on other major projects (the aforementioned The Last of Us), Naughty Dog are not the ones handling this entry but instead it is Bend studios, who would go on to make Days Gone for the PlayStation 4. Nolan North and Richard McGonagle reprise their roles as Nathan Drake and Victor "Goddamn" Sullivan respectively. As a launch title for the PlayStation Vita, Uncharted: Golden Abyss serves as a showcase for a lot of the consoles features- gyroscope aiming, touchpad/screen support, the camera and the now defunct Near application. Some of these are optional but others are mandatory- the camera is necessary to pick up light for a single puzzle and touchpad/screen input is necessary for a lot of the puzzles as well as two fights at the end of the game. This was a little annoying because on Crushing difficulty the game throws in these new inputs that the Vita sometimes didn't detect properly and I had to restart the fights all over again. The collectibles are varied and are split into various categories- some collections tell little stories of their own and others combine to form puzzles for the player to solve after gathering all of the pieces. The game's "Black Market" was tied to the Near application, whereby players would pick up random drops from enemies called Bounties which take the form of Tarot cards, coins and gemstones, depending on where in the game they are. These could be traded and players could pick up full sets this way. A neat concept but with Near now gone, the only way to get the full sets is to grind away. Thankfully, a patch was implemented to up the rate of drops (which I didn't have installed until I was over halfway through... AAARGH) but it still took some grinding to complete all four sets of bounties, though some weapon kill grinds could be done in tandem so it wasn't all bad. Some of the weapon grinds were annoying enough- the game inherited Uncharted 2's awful 200 Kills with the Gau-19 trophy which got very repetitive but I earned all my Cadiz card bounties while doing it. The SAS-12 grind was also a bummer because the weapon doesn't appear until the last few chapters of the game and on higher difficulties shotguns are completely useless so a fair bit of grinding was required for that as well. Otherwise, the Crushing run here was quite a bit easier than in the PS3 titles. The puzzles as I said were varied but I found some types were used too often and others too little- there are only two instances of opening a combination lock and only one of using the Vita's camera to detect light and reveal invisible ink which was neat. The overused example was the charcoal rubbings, thought it is still a good idea. Aside from those gripes, the game is great. It looks good for a portable game from 2012, retaining the art style and gorgeous visuals of the trilogy albeit on a smaller scale. The characters are enjoyable enough though the final antagonist here is a bit throwaway. It plays pretty well too and is overall a very enjoyable game. Glad to have played it and to have another Vita game ticked off the list. Edited February 19, 2021 by Stan Lee

Popular Post FarSideOfSaturn
#41 Assassin's Creed Valhalla - Viking Legend - Earn every trophy Skal! For some reason, I didn't decide to platinum this until after my save file corrupted, losing 155 hours of progress. What it was about that event that convinced me to return after a year long hiatus from trophy hunting will forever be a mystery. So, this time (is it 15 games now?) our much maligned modern day protagonist Layla has jacked into the memories of Eivor, circa 873 AD during the Viking invasions of England. Lacking subtlety, an indoor voice and most forms of human decency, Eivor is by some distance the most unassassin-like character we've been handed control of (excluding Rogue for obvious reasons). It does make sense though, Eivor isn't actually an Assassin, but rather works alongside them so long as their interests align. Rather than one complete story running the length of the entire game, we follow Eivor on a series of expeditions across Norway, England and even further beyond in the hopes of building alliances for our newly settled clan, while doing the Assassin's bidding for them. It's a fresh approach in an ever evolving series, yet it retains subtle elements from previous games and does it best to improve upon them. It's a long journey, sometimes it can feel a little too long but ends with what I thought was the most surprising and well written ending to an Assassin's Creed game in years. Outside of the main story arcs, there's an impressive 782 side activities for you to complete. Luckily, Ubisoft made the decision to keep each one to just a few minutes long rather than journeying across the map as in Odyssey and Origins and it works brilliantly. Although, some world events and collectibles can feel very similar towards the end, especially if you're going for the platinum trophy, it can feel like a slog. The gameplay, I thought felt like an arcade version of Dark Souls. With newly implemented stamina and parrying functions to accompany some of the brutal battles we find ourselves in. While fun, It feels a little loose somehow, with weapons and armour not seeming to carry much weight behind them. Even free-running controls and direction, especially at speed lack the same tightness and control we saw in games ten years prior to this. Overall though, I really enjoyed this and I do admire Ubisoft for their continued efforts to get the evolution of Assassin's Creed exactly right. With less technical/control issues and a more quality over quantity approach to world events then this could've been one of the best Assassin's Creed games yet. It's not that some of the issues I mentioned hold it back from being a good game, it's more that after fourteen years we have to hold Assassin's Creed to a high benchmark. It doesn't quite reach, but it's not far off. + Engaging story with clear direction + Beautiful and varied environments + Great OST + Character and even settlement customization + Accommodates various playstyles - Suffers from a few technical issues and occasional crashes - World events lack variety - Underwhelming A.I Enjoyment: 7.5/10 Difficulty: 4/10 (played on hard mode) Time to platinum: 311 hours (two playthroughs as my save data corrupted).

Popular Post Redgrave
#205: Just another day at the office - Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered I'm very glad that this got remade since the original was the first game on PS3 that I played but they never gave it the trophy patch like a lot of other games got. Despite that I would replay the campaign and play the MP a ton so playing this was a very big nostalgia trip for me ? Plus it's nice to say that I can finally get the Platinum for the first game I played on PS3 but also one of my favorite FPS games in general. Apart from the graphics and a couple other touch-ups there isn't much different from the original and that's just fine since you can only improve so much. Probably my favorite touch-ups was in the sound design where the gun sounds sounded like they had more impact to them and the bullets sounded like they had a touch more realism to them where you could hear them cracking off in the distance but also whizzing by more often which made gunfights sound chaotic. Trophy-wise it's not that bad with probably the only difficult trophy being Best of the Best but I managed to do it after probably 30 minutes or so and despite the failed attempts I didn't get bothered by them mainly because it doesn't take long to do but that when restarting for the checkpoint, it loads instantly which is fantastic. Doing every level on Veteran would have probably been the most difficult part but I did the glitch to cheese it. In my defense for it, I did MW2, MW3, World at War, and Black Ops on Veteran legit and I only got a Platinum out of World at War with it so I think I deserved a pass ? It was great fighting alongside Captain Price and the gang again, so I think playing the remake rekindled my love for the Modern Warfare games and the other Call of Duty games around the time and it makes me look forward to playing the Modern Warfare 2 remake even more. I really hope World at War can get the remake treatment at somepoint in the future too. ?
Popular Post Phlegeth
#43 Bloodborne All trophies acquired. Hats off! This was one of the first games I bought for the PS4. And my first Soulsborne game. I played a little Dark Souls before, but didn't get very far. I was going to play the DLC right away when I first beat it, but it automatically puts you in NG+. For some reason, I just felt like playing Bloodborne again. I went through enough to access the DLC. Played that to get the Moonlight Greatsword and went back to the main game. I have an Arcane build and that's like one of the only good weapons. Now I'm going back to the Old Hunters and going to finish that. This scene still gave me goosebumps.
