Popular Post Mariner1534
#59: Concrete Genie - The Artist of Denska A bunch of you have probably already gotten this plat this month since it's free on Plus. I'm glad it was, since it was a fun, charming little game that I completely forgot existed until a few weeks ago. Liked the art style, atmosphere, and unique take on puzzle solving, and it was a brief, yet satisfying experience. This might be the quickest and easiest plat I've gotten so far. Couldn't have taken more than 6-7 hours - the game's pretty short and really easy, and the game world's very small so collectible/misc. trophy cleanup took very little time with a guide once I finished the story (you'll probably get like 75-80% of everything naturally by the end). A couple of trophies (most notably the "all Moments" trophy) are apparently buggy though, so watch out for that - luckily I had no issues. Also worth noting that there are a couple VR-only trophies - not required for the plat, but if you don't have VR you won't have that 100% in your list, in case that bothers you. If you do, the VR stuff's pretty cute but forgettable side content, and it takes like 20-30 minutes for all three trophies. Overall, I recommend this to anyone who wants a fun, low-effort diversion to sink a few hours into, especially if you have Plus and can play it for free. Difficulty: 1.5/10 Enjoyment: 7.5/10 Plat Time: 6-7 hours (add 20-30 minutes for the VR content)

Popular Post Cal
World War Z #47 World War Z? More like World War Grind, this game is a chore to plat I did enjoy playing it though, I have seen people say this is the closest thing to a Left 4 Dead 3 but honestly I found WWZ a bit better since there is more replay value to it what with having six different classes with all their own abilities and 5 different little campaigns taking places in New York, Jerusalem, Moscow, Tokyo and Marseille. But like I said this game is a grind you have to unlock all final versions of weapons then you have to unlock all abilities for all six classes in co-op campaign and then you have to unlock all the abilities in all TEN classes for the multiplayer mode...yeah if you're going for the platinum you're gonna be playing this game for a while, again it's really not a hard game to plat most of the trophies you will earn by simply playing the game and the online is still pretty active I always found people in both co-op and multiplayer. There are like three multiplayer trophies that some might find hard to unlock but you can always boost with others or you might just unlock them without even trying like I did, easy game to plat just gonna take you a long time. Also the multiplayer mode is straight up BS at times so I suggest dealing with those MP trophies before going after the other ones just to make it a little easier on yourself down the road.

Popular Post Golem25
Platinum #81 - Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate (Vita) The Dark Knight - Unlock All Other Trophies 44,492 Owners - 4,385 Achievers for a percentage of 9.85% (average completion; 23.55%) Enjoyment; 7/10 Difficulty; 3/10 Trophies; 2/10 (four tiles, cruel requirements, but some fun names) Joy at replaying the game; 3/10 'I'm Batman' I think a fair number of people in this fine community have been able to say those words at some point during their Trophy careers; whether it came through the two Telltale seasons, the LEGO games, or Rocksteady's much-lauded Arkham series, many will have donned the cowl of who I still consider to be the world's coolest superhero. If you own a Playstation Vita, you too can get in on the fun with Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate, an Arkham spin-off developed by Texas-based Armature Studios and released alongside the 'actual' Batman: Arkham Origins. Funnily enough, Arkham Origins itself is considered by some to be a spin-off as well; Rocksteady took 4 years from the 2011 release of critically acclaimed Arkham City to finish the somewhat divisive Arkham Knight in 2015. Publishers Warner Brothers still wanted a nice injection of cash in the interim, so commissioned their internal Montreal studio to release Origins in 2013. That game is considered inferior to the Rocksteady titles by most players, but then these critics likely never played Blackgate which is.... well, it is a mobile title. Developed for the 3DS and Vita, Blackgate didn't commit to bringing the full gameplay experience of the console games to Sony's doomed handheld - rather, it opted for a Metroidvania approach wherein players were to explore the sprawling and, admittedly, confusing Blackgate prison complex as they collected gadgets that Batman forgot to bring on his mission in the first place and tackled the game's three main bosses - Joker, Black Mask, and Penguin - in any order they liked. If you've played a Metroidvania, you know how this works; copious amounts of backtracking and a fair few frustrating instances of your continued progress being hampered by the absence of a gadget. Couple this with a very barebones combat system and you have a game that fails to impress as an Arkham title, but has some merits when seen in a vacuum. Written to not spoil the console Origins title, the game opens with Batman chasing after and capturing Catwoman, sending her to Blackgate prison. The complex is soon engulfed in an explosion and the anonymous superhero who totally isn't Bruce Wayne is sent in to quell the ensuing chaos as Joker, Black Mask, and Penguin each lay claim to a different part of the prison. He teams up with Catwoman who totally isn't manipulating the Man of Bat for her own purposes, and sets off after the three supervillains, encountering Deadshot, Solomon Grundy, and Bronze Tiger on his journey via mini bossfights. While a bit simple, it's honestly not a bad story and told through appropriate graphic novel-styled cutscenes - the characters are lifted 1:1 from Origins and the rest of the Arkham series and fit the grimdark setting well. And when I say grimdark, I mean it; befitting a prison, Blackgate is a drab world of greys, browns, and blacks with a smattering of orange here and there, with little variation. Sure, you can always tell whether you are in the Administration, Cell Blocks, or Industrial quadrants based on their general colour palette but the same theme of destruction and dilapidation remains. While not hugely annoying on its own, the Metroidvania style of play forces you to backtrack so much that you get rather sick of seeing the same rooms literally dozens of times. And you really have to if you want that Platinum Trophy. In what is the most cruel and needlessly padded-out list I've seen in a long time, Blackgate expects you to complete its story 2.9 times (you don't have to beat the final boss on your third playthrough) for the most insulting of reasons; the final stage before the final boss is a fetch quest around the prison that serves to extend the game's length with each of the three bosses having their own collectible for this penultimate challenge, and each of them coming with a Silver Trophy. However, only one of these three is available per playthrough, and determined by which of the three bosses you beat last - hence needing three playthroughs. Additionally, while two out of six collectibles carry over, the other four don't meaning that you have to do a completionist run on your third playthrough - actively discouraging you from bothering with the collectibles on the first two romps. Because each of these three fetch quests awards a unique belt needed for the Plat but are only available at the end of the game and only if you beat a specific boss as the final antagonist on your run, you're looking at a hyper-missable collectible here; if you fail to get the belt on any of the three playthroughs, you have to collect every piece of armour, every gauntlet, and every rush upgrade again in a fourth run. It's needlessly cruel, and extends a 10 hour game that is already excessively bloated by backtracking into a 20 hour slog for the Plat - that's only if you make good use of guides. And by the end, you really know every single room as the back of your hand because you've ran through them countless times with varying loadouts that restrict the degree of exploration. And the worst part is, it didn't have to be this way; I played another Metroidvania in the form of Forma.8 last year which offered a reasonable road to the Plat showing that the forced replays of Blackgate were unneccessary at best, and a cynical way to mask the short length of a budget title at worst. Yet I couldn't help but enjoy Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate. For all its faults, it is a good experience with a worthwhile story and it plays reasonably well - sporting some pretty decent visuals on the Vita and capturing a lot of the elements that make this particular moody guy in a spandex suit such a compelling character. It's just the Platinum requirements and needlessly padded bullshit that frustrate matters, as well as the dogged refusal to not carry over most types of collectible. But on the flipside, this does give the game a nice, low rarity percentage on Vita since a lot of the 40,000 plus owners got filtered by the game's nonsense. PS3 hunters clearly were more dedicated as the touched-up rerelease (as a Deluxe Edition) has an average completion rate of 38% and a Plat rate of 25% compared to 23.55% and 9.85% respectively on the Vita. Annoyingly, the PS3 players got unique tiles where the Vita has to make-do with four copy+pasted tiles. Going over my timestamps, every single of the game's 31 Trophies I unlocked between 10 PM and 7:47 AM - how fittingly broody. Overall, Battlefield 1 was a nice game, the campaign was short, but nevertheless, it was quite interesting! The campaign is divided in sub-chapters, and in each story you get to play as a different protagonist. Gathering the required collectibles was also a nice experience, as it gave me the opportunity to explore the surroundings even more! The multiplayer mode was quite fun as well, especially the conquest multiplayer mode!
Popular Post Rias Gremory
Platinum #109 Infamous First Light Uncommon: 22.16% Difficulty: 3/10. Enjoyment: 9/10. Challenge: 8/10. Music: 8/10. Grind Difficulty: 6/10. Genre: Shooter, Platform, Adventure, Action, Science-Fiction, Sandbox, Open World and Super Powers. Platinum Time: 23 hours and 4 minutes. Same thing before from last year and earned Platinum #109. I always played the prequel game first before I deal with Infamous Second Son. This was a really excellent and fun experience to play in the game. The challenges were very good and a few of em really were tricky but I finally pulled it off and got all of it done. The story was short but that was good enough for me to start and finished at the end of the game. Super neon powers are really bright, colorful and powerful to use and defeat the enemies in the open world. It took me a bit of time and few grinding parts to get it all tick off but hey at least it was worth it. The collectibles wasn't that hard to be found in the open world and yeah I got em all done. Highly recommended for this game. Next Platinum: ???

Popular Post Omelette Paradise
#456 - The Suicide Of Rachel Foster I had mixed feelings on this game. It's an exploration/walking simulator title which sees the playable character Nicole explore an abandoned hotel bequeathed to her by her recently deceased mother with the intention of selling it. Nicole is forced take shelter there however when a bad snowstorm hits with only a FEMA agent named Irving for company who talks to you over a phone or walkie talkie. I wasn't 100% sure. Walking sims aren't for everyone but I enjoy them and I think the best way to describe this one is a cross between Gone Home (exploring a richly detailed location) and Firewatch (back and forth banter between the protagonist and an unseen but friendly character over a radio). I was a really big fan of the environment this game takes place in. A lot of care clearly went into the design of it and it felt like walking around a real hotel, albeit an abandoned one in a state of disrepair. It felt creepy. I won't go into details about the finer details of the game's plot but a lot of the game's later reveals made my skin crawl and not in a good way. I felt uncomfortable and it felt like a bit too much in terms how explicit they were. If you've played it then you'll know what I mean. Overall I'd just about recommend it if you're into these types of exploration or walking simulator games. If not then this one probably won't convert you. Popular Post Nostalgy_Flow
Platinum #90: NieR: AutomataReally a great game, I enjoyed it a lot!Pretty cool characters (2B>>>) and OST, gameplay is nice too. Only flaws are the framerate which isn't the best (on a base PS4 at least), more than anything else sometimes there's some microfreeze while roaming around the world, but you get used to it anyway, and the camera, which I had to adjust quite a bit to get comfortable enough.Easy plat, took me 59 hrs, done everything on Normal and without buying any trophies.Nothing to say, just be careful of the choice that deletes the save, and if you wanna do the plat legit be careful of the only two missables of the game, which are the Powerup Part S and the ending Y.
Popular Post MidnightDragon
#65 Arrog This game is very short and sweet. I tried to do most of the game without a guide, but had to for one or two. Most of the puzzles are very straightforward. The theme and art of this game is quite beautiful. Just wish it was a bit longer, but good value for the price. I definitely would recommend checking it out, especially if you like games that are about emotion. Popular Post StraightVege
TranStar Employee of the Year #261 Over 20 years I've waited for a third installment of System Shock. Well, I waited a bit too long, because it already existed in 2017. Prey is an unabashed love letter to System Shock 2, and it might have been better received if it were titled Neuroshock, instead of cynically attempting to cash in on the Prey name, thoroughly angering fans of the 2006 game in the process. I'm not sure how to feel about this one, honestly. It has everything one would expect from the masters of the "immersive sim" at Arkane, and it's certainly an interesting experience in many ways, but I can't say I had much fun playing it. In Prey's alternate history timeline, John F. Kennedy didn't die in the assassination, leading to the acceleration of the Space Race, and the discovery of a hostile alien race dubbed "The Typhon," who are incapable of feeling empathy. These creatures are eventually exploited by TranStar Corporation to produce Neuromods, freaky disposable medical tools that bestow the user with any ability they desire by injecting Typhon goop into the brain through the eyeball. Naturally, the process of creating this transhuman technology has some dire consequences for the company's Talos I space station, where the game takes place. After a clever and slickly presented opening, the pacing slows to a glacial crawl, until it abruptly turns frantic in the final third. As I repeatedly backtracked all over Talos I, completing objectives that seemed tenuously linked to my main goal (through painfully lengthy loading screens, I might add), I rarely felt a real sense of progress. The Typhon are some of the most believable alien adversaries I've yet seen in any medium, but fighting them just doesn't feel good. Since you can't aim down sights, and the aim sensitivity is awfully sluggish, you kind of awkwardly swing your reticle over the general area of enemies and wildly fire off shots or wrench strikes. This isn't enjoyable when half of the targets are small, spider-like mimics that can disguise themselves as nearly any mundane object, and swiftly pop out to get cheap hits on you. At some point, I decided running past everything was superior to combat. The most versatile tool in your arsenal is the GLOO gun, which can not only immobilize most Typhon, but create makeshift platforms to climb almost anywhere, or block off hazards such as flame jets. It often feels like a gimmicky toy to play around with the physics, rather than a well-integrated part of the gameplay, though—it's cool, but no Half-Life 2 gravity gun, that's for sure. As authentic as the zero-G and space walk sections were, I didn't find them to be great either. They're irritating to control and navigate, not to mention filled with an annoying enemy type that releases homing mines at you, which are too tedious to bother clearing out. Again, I rushed through and took the damage to get them over with. Exploring a rich world packed with secrets and environmental storytelling is the big draw of any Arkane title for me, and that's definitely the case on Talos station. You can uncover a lot regarding the complex relationships between crew members, and the nefarious TranStar corporation's dirty deeds. Where Prey really shines is in the Crew Quarters area, where you're tasked with retracing Danielle Sho's steps, and end up learning a lot of endearing facts abut her life. Most of the employees at TranStar were decent workers, who had little to no knowledge of the profoundly unethical affairs occurring higher up. They played games together, went to the movies, and fell in love, until the shortsightedness and greed of peddling immortality to the rich brought everything down around them. It's a poignant segment; this is Arkane at their very best. Perhaps Prey didn't quite click for me, but I nevertheless recommend trying it if you're a fan of similar stuff, or you simply long for another Shock of either the System or Bio varieties. It's competently crafted sci-fi/horror, featuring a detailed world to rival Shock's Von Braun or Rapture, compelling—albeit predictable—plot twists, excellent grounded voice performances, and a legitimately frightening alien threat. If you can tolerate the slow-burn pacing, clunky combat, and torturous load times, you might discover a modern classic for yourself. I can't deny the hard work poured into this production, and I really wish I liked it more! I think part of my problem was that I only dabbled with using alien powers, when they would have made the gameplay far more diverse. If you're going to play this, I'd strongly suggest going all-in on the Typhon skill tree. Eventually, I'll delve into the Mooncrash DLC, and its roguelike approach. Maybe I'll get along better with that. However the final push was annoying as all hell. Now to move onto something a little shorter for a while before returning to Diablo 3 and Kakarot.
