Popular Post JoaLoft
#243 - Cat Quest II This Cat Quest II platinum post will read very similarly to my first one - because both games are almost identical in visuals, sound and gameplay. The sequel is about reuniting the cat and dog empires AKA Felingard and the Lupus Empire, who are entangled in a war. It is up to the main characters, a cat and a dog character - yes, plural - to reunite both races and stop the evil pitting them against each other. Oh, and there is a very obvious Cat Quest III announcement at the end of the epilogue, molding the franchise into a trilogy. Now, if you'll allow me: I will quickly copy and paste what I said before about the first game because a lot has been simply migrated into this one. It's a very light RPG where you can only tackle one quest at a time, clear very small dungeons and visit an armor smith, weapon smith or a mage's tower to upgrade weapons, armor and spells. Everything takes place on the overworld map, and jumping into a Cat Quest game is instantaneous: no real tutorials, you'll already be leveling up five minutes in. And a key element of a Cat Quest game is the many, many puns you'll come across in locations and characters: you'll run into characters such as Hotto Doggo the weapon smith, Barkthan Drayke the treasure hunter, Amuttdeus Woofgang and Furvaldi the composers, Agent Triple Mewoh Seven the spy, The Doge Knight the superhero and Two-Furface the master of dog puns, Pawdon Ruffsey the chef, you get the idea. And some quests even draw inspiration from pop culture media such as a quest called "Finding Purr-ivate Mewan", a feline soldier who has gone MIA at the frontline. What's new in this game, is the local coop: introducing the canine empire means that dogs are an active part of the lore now, with one of the protagonists being a dog. You both each have your own gear and if one goes down, the other will have a chance to revive them by staying close to them and letting a bar fill up. If both characters go down: game over. But this game works just as well solo where you're given the chance to swap between characters on the go, so the choice is yours. It's not a must-play or must-have, but for what it is, it gets the job done. Whether you are just getting into RPG's and want to learn the ropes with a very easy game, or you're looking for a fun, light-hearted experience to take time off from the harder and more time-consuming platinum trophies. Most frustrating trophy - Fashionista Tails III Another Cat Quest game, so another incredibly easy trophy list, all things considered. Except, cleaning up post-story can be a little bit of a chore: especially if you still need to clear a lot of dungeons or collect numerous pieces of equipment. For me, the latter is what I found a bit frustrating: running around and scouring the overworld map to see if I missed any golden chests to recover all 101 unique pieces of equipment. I feel these could have been marked if you completed everything else, by granting you a reward that marks them on the overworld map with an arrow, for instance. Just for practical clean-up purposes. This trophy goes hand-in-hand with the clearing of all the dungeons, sort of. So this was a bit of a toss-up, despite the overall list being a total breeze. Popular Post StraightVege
Platinum Ultra Rare 3.84% #263 (12th Fastest Achiever - 3 days, 1 hour) If, like Futurama's Bender, you sometimes get a hankering to kill all humans, then perhaps Butcher is a game worth trying. This bastard child of Broforce and Hotline Miami (with Doom aesthetic qualities) puts you in the role of a cybernetic drone on a mission to exterminate the mutated remnants of humanity. Don't let this give you the idea that Butcher is a Terminator-esque power fantasy, however, because you're as fragile as a butterfly's wings, while your "human" targets have razor-sharp accuracy. Who's the real monster here? Butcher tries hard to be as violent and edgy as possible, but you can only portray so much when your characters are little more than minuscule pixel blobs. Speaking of that visual style: certainly makes it difficult to notice incoming threats at times, which is terrible when you consider that the developers often chose to place cheap surprise enemies and traps near the level exits, and upon death, you're forced to replay the entirety. This sort of arcade quarter cruncher design may impress the "HARD GAME GOOD" crowd, but I find it thoroughly obnoxious. Trial and error is rarely enjoyable. Above the default difficulty, I wasn't able to slip into that nice gameplay flow you get from Hotline, and I think the main problem is that many sections are too long for the "side-scrolling Hotline" gameplay style to quite work. You don't feel comfortable enough taking risks, as dying results in having to repeat a relatively lengthy level or arena battle. Some checkpoints could have helped, but that would've clashed with the game's "so hardcore bro" sensibilities. On the Impossible setting, a single shotgun blast will reduce you to pulp, necessitating a cautious approach. Locate a decent camping spot, then take potshots at the baddies from around corners, or you're done for. The final boss also wins my made-up award for being the cheapest garbage I've ever encountered. I never discovered a strategy that works consistently, so just move in circles around it while spamming grenades, and hope for the best. If it decides to kill you, you're screwed. How did they think this atrocity was acceptable as is? At least speedrunning the game on Hard difficulty provided some fun segments (that flow I mentioned before), and it controls quite well. I'll also give it credit for really feeling like a 2D Doom or Quake at times—you can even grenade jump to skip some areas, which is useful when trying to beat the game in under 45 minutes. Good soundtrack, too! Beyond that, the platinum image largely sums up my attitude towards Butcher, especially after that horrendous boss! Popular Post Deluziion90
#362 - Godfall Highlord of AperionEarn all available Trophies for Godfall Copied from status update: All 46 Trophies 25th February 2021 • Platinum in 5 days, 8 hours Difficulty 4/10 Trophy to reach tower trial 20 6/10 Overall platinum time ~35hrs The game is reviewed a lot as bad and dull and not that great. I have to disagree on most of it. The story is absolutely .. dull? You want to kill your brother because I still don't know I was probably not paying attention at that moment ?. You're sent on a bunch of missons on the same map to kill a big guy and that's pretty much the story which took me less then a day. Now comes the fun part. It's a loot hording game where you have to get crazy strong and get a good build together to start the ascended tower of trials. Which is pretty much a gauntlet which takes around 1-2hrs total. I've had fun getting my build together and see my character grow insanely overpowered in the end. Getting the gear however is where the game falls short. You're doing the same stuff over and over and over and did I see do it over to get the items you need. Lucky for me the specific weapon I needed to get this build working dropped on my first day of farming so things started rolling pretty fast for me. I've complained two hours ago I had lots of trouble with the tower of trials but with some more practice I managed to get that trophy out of the way and earn my LAST PS5 EXCLUSIVE PLATINUM. Sounds pretty good
Popular Post eigen-space
Platinum #124 - Maneater (PS4) Platinum, 58.31% Rarity Difficulty - 3/10, Time Spent - ~30 Hours , Enjoyment 8/10 Maneater is definitely a game unlike any others that I have played, and that's definitely not a bad thing. You swim around as a shark and eat sea animals and people and destroy boats. This game was definitely harder than the 58% rarity would lead you to believe, at least at first. I was very frustrated because as a young shark you die A LOT. Literally everything can kill you, and you're put in a lot of situations where you have no choice other than to die.... especially at the hands of alligators. I'm suprised my 2-year-old doesn't know how to say "Fucking Alligators!" at this point. There are also some annoying collectables that you have to do precision jumping for. Other than that, though, pretty fun, especially as a Mega Shark when you could kill anything in your way. I'll definitely be stacking this when I get a PS5. I also have to make a mention of the awesome mockumentary style of the game. Every time you got an audio byte, it was super hilarious. Popular Post DeathNyx
Resident Evil Revelations (PS4) Platinum N°96: Eye on the Trophy Obtain all trophies. Game enjoyment: 7 - 7.5 Trophies enjoyment: 6 - 6.5 Trophies difficulty: 7 - 7.5 Comment: A nice chapter of RE saga, i liked it where the plot took place, an abandoned ship in the middle of the sea is really a cool location for a horror plot. The Raid mode is also nice but a bit challenging (at least during the first run) without a good partner and luckily a had one (isaak946) which i thank you for helping me out with this multiplayer mode. Once you you reached max lvl you can afford to play some levels solo but still difficult without good equipments (which are obtained lucky based). Popular Post Sardavanua
#177 Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Farah?! Where are you?! 17 years. Seventeen freakin years since it's release. This is literally the first time where I feel like I'm getting old because of video games. Like for real. I used to play this game alot back in the days, same goes for The Two Thrones and I could never decide what the better game was. Now that I returned to the Prince of Persia saga recently, I can definetly say The Sands of Time didn't age very well and this lazy half-assed port for the PS3 just made it so much worse. Let's start with the good sides of this games: The platforming. I don't understand why people tend to dislike it's platforming. It's literally the best part of the game. It's simple and easy to pull of and you usually instantly know where to go (or jump that is) as soon as you enter a new section. It never really gets repetitive due to the game's very short length. You have different camera angles you can choose from and like 90% of the platforming is so obvious that you'll nail it first time. I consider that fun, in contrast the platforming of the later games, which always felt to tight and difficult also because of the timed sections. I really enjoyed the platforming here and I wish there was more. Ok next good thing I can tell about this game: Well there is... Uhm. Uuuuuh... Hmmm. That's weird. To be honest everything else just totally sucked in this game. For real. The combat. The combat was always utter crap in this game so that's not the fault of the port for the PS3 to be fair. Still the game would have been better without it, it's beyond repitive. There are no combos and like six different enemies in the game and three of them are just annyoing as can be. Every encounter that counts 20+ enemies is just frustrating and totally random. You can get randomly stunlocked and that's it. Restart! Oh yeah and every single hit completely wrecks your health bar, so feel free to restart before you die in the next random hit. The boss fights are also very very lame and a waste of time. Next up: The Audio. HOLY MOLY. How? How did that happen. What is wrong with the audio in this game? The dialogue is barely hearable and if your hit a stone or a wall with your sword for example, get ready for permanent hearing loss. The music just randomly ramps up to full orchestra and yeah well doesn't sound very good. Also there's about three tracks you hear over and over again. Eh. And the voices are so badly recorded, It sounded like they have been re-recorded for the PS3? Everything is echoing and hard to understand. Visuals, well it's 17 years old and therefore still good looking, but never stunningly beautiful. But Farah still is hot. Last but no least, the game was a glitchy mess. It randomly teleported me across the maps, so that I had to restart because everything on the screen was freaking out all of a sudden. I also accidentaly performed a speedruner's trick apparently, where I skipped a major part of the game, but backwards. Yeah no let's not talk about that. I also gut stuck in the Main Menu two times and the game constantly crashed while booting up. But my PS3 still lives and that's all that matters. Trophy wise the game is quite simple. Most collectables are on the way and are even doable without a guide. The trophy that requires you to play through the game with less than 20 rewinds was the one I was kinda afraid of, because I remembered playing through the and rewinding every few minutes, but in the end I ended up rewinding six times and none of them were any neccesary at all. Also did the elevator first try, because the enemies just stopped spawning after like 20 enemies. Lucky me. Good game but do yourself a favor and don't play it on PS3. Can't tell if I'll go for the others. Difficulty: 3/10 Enjoyment: 2/10 Time spent: 5hrs 17min (10hrs because of the 10h trophy)
Popular Post MrGarland
Platinum #105 Difficulty: 4/10 Enjoyment: 9/10 After my previous platinum (Crash 4), I mentioned that I'm going to focus on much easier games for a while. When I was close to finishing the mentioned game, I got a recommendation from a good friend who I'll mention soon. The game was none other than this. Did I enjoy it? Well, as a matter of fact, I did. Although I didn't think it would be this great. It reminds me of Music Racer, a game that I platinumed last year. While that one was also great, I personally thought this was the better of two. The gameplay is really addictive, and to top all of that, the music sounds great. The following song is just an example of how awesome the soundtrack is. The only complaint I can think of it is that the game doesn't really explain about the gameplay. While it's easy to figure out, something that may not be obvious is the combo. Simply put, the more items you collect without dying, the more points you get. This made getting the gold rank hard on at least 1-2 stages. On some, you're allowed to make mistakes, but for some, you have to be flawless almost all the way to the end. Other than the final level (Wild Hearts Never Die), they're pretty easy, once you know what's coming. My favourite ones include Parallel Universes (where the realities switch between two in tune with the music) and The World We Knew (you're inside the VR headset). The game also includes an extra mode known as YOLO arcade. As you can probably guess, you only have one life to clear all the stages while getting a high score. Thankfully, you only need bronze to get the trophy. Depending on well you do, you'll get bronze somewhere around stages 9-12. I nailed it on my 5th attempt which ended in stage 9. If I had to make it all the way to the end, it would be much more challenging. When it comes to the game's trophies, they're rather unique. And by that I mean their description. They're cryptic. I've seen my own share of them, but this is different. There are two options for getting them. You can either try solving the riddles in the main menu, or read the trophy guide. As for the requirements, they're not too hard, but the difficulty shouldn't be underestimated. Not to mention, many of the stages have their own specific trophy. Some examples include getting only "Good" in QTE events, clearing a certain stage with 0 score and so on. Needless to say, getting the ones mentioned took me a good while, but they're not too troublesome. Overall, this was a very positive surprise. Even if you don't play rhythm games, give this one a try. The music itself is a reason enough to play it. Special thanks to @tsmugz for recommending this to me. For my next project, I have a few ideas. I'm planning to relax a bit with Atelier Ryza, but considering how large my backlog is, I might as well get at least 1-2 games out of the way first before that can happen. Ode2Destruxion
My Brother Rabbit #34 Super Explorer Definitely my favourite title from Artifex Mundi's range of PAC/HOP games that I have played so far. A really sweet story that is simple but emotional. It was in a different style to the other games in almost every way. Views are third person as opposed to first and the items were collected in a much more organised way - both of which made for a more enjoyable experience. I haven't checked release dates so it's very unlikely that I've played all five I've tried chronologically - but I do hope this is the most recent style as it far outstrips the others. 8/10
Popular Post StrayEidolon
#99: Batman: The Telltale Series Yup. I've joined the 90% of people who wanted to sleep with Catwoman. As much as I love Batman, this was a questionable experience. I've heard plenty of things about Telltale's game engine but dayum dude! I don't remember the others being this bad. It ran terribly (on my PS4 Pro). Turned into a PowerPoint presentation plenty of times with all of the stuttering. A receptionist was missing her hair model. Gordon's mouth stopped moving at one point and after his current dialogue was done, there was pure silence while his mouth suddenly started motoring to catch up. Officer Montoya's character model was missing for an entire scene revolving around her in a later episode. Game crashed 3 or 4 times. The story itself was alright. A lot of it felt familiar, whether from the movies or comic books or whatever. That may not be surprising with all of the variations on Batman's story. It was nice to see this take on Thomas Wayne though. Playing as Bruce was definitely more entertaining to me. It was mostly just quick time events with Batman. I'm hoping season 2 is better. I've heard good things. Sigh... It all reminds me that I really wanted a second season for The Wolf Among Us.
Popular Post Rias Gremory
Platinum #114 Far Cry 3: Classic Edition Uncommon: 41.29% Difficulty: 3/10. Enjoyment: 10/10. Challenge: 10/10. Music: 9/10. Grind Difficulty: 8/10. Genre: Shooter, Adventure, Action, Survival, Stealth, Sandbox and Open World. Platinum Time: 3 days and 5 hours. Same thing before from last year and earned Platinum #114. Now this one right here was a crazy and wild experience for me to traverse through this world full of wild animals, enemy territories, upgrading your skills etc. It is a pretty big open world for me to go through dangerous places and getting the things I needed to completed the platinum. Well to be honest, the best part of the game I like the most was Vaas Montenegro. Vaas is the best boss in the game I ever faced and his quotes was funny as fuck. He screams, he talks funny, he laughs and he doesn't show any mercy to his foes and so on. Killing his sister and saving my friends and left the island was my plan all along. It was superb and definitely well worth the game to plat. Vaas's best quote: "Did I ever tell you what the definition of Insanity is?" Highly recommended for this game. Next Platinum: ??? I did not expect this game to enter my top 3 going in, but I'm so happy it did. Valhalla has a great story. I won't spoil anything... but the modern day ending is the most satisfying we've gotten in years. The connection finally to... never mind just play the game!! Honestly, if the modern day ending doesn't make you smile, then I don't what to tell you. When it comes to gameplay, being a Viking badass was so satisfying. Just absolutely wrecking Saxons and Danes was so addicting. The brutal finishers were amazing too. My only drawback I can say I have with this game is the damn collectibles. Too damn many. I still love this game though. New Assassin's Creed top 5: 1) Brotherhood 2) IV Black Flag 3) Valhalla 4) Origins 5) AC2
Popular Post Celestial_Lily
Platinum #64 - Immortals: Fenyx Rising Difficulty: 3/10 (Mental Difficulty: 7/10 - god I am bad at puzzles ;_;) Fun: 8/10 This was a fun game! I bought it close to release, going into it mostly based on how good the trailers looked :3 It was a slow plat because of the RIDICULOUS AMOUNT OF PUZZLES IN THE GAME, EVERY-FREAKING-WHERE. I mean, if you like it, awesome! I am real bad at them, and the sheer prevalence was exhaustingg. Like they were kinda neat, being all physics and ability based and stuff, but OOF I am not a puzzler. Like I can do a bit but I prefer to stabby-stab my way through or platform. That aside!: The combat wasss pretty simple. It had some moves but it was largely just two buttons. The addition of the God abilities really helped but they only felt impactful after leveling them up a bit. For an 8/10 fun this is seemingly negative. But I really did enjoy the world, and story, and a lot about it. The puzzles just dampened the experience and dragged it out a lot, stoppingg me from platinuming it sooner. Anyway, would recommend on a sale unless puzzles drive you up the wall
Popular Post acidkai_ak
#26 : Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits I will say this. The OST in this game is heavily underrated for a PS2 JRPG. I would argue that this OST rivals to Persona and the Trails series. Despite some flaws they have (one of the characters sounds like a Rugrats character, oh my ears...), I recommend it to anyone to give it a try. Popular Post jorgecarpio91
Platinum #47, #48 and #49: Spyro Reignited Trilogy So I included this three platinums in one post since it is one game. Spyro Reignited Trilogy includes the first three Spyro games remastered: Spyro the Dragon (1998), Ripto's Rage! (1999), and Year of the Dragon (2000). I didn't have a Playstation since I grew with the Nintendo 64 therefore I´ve never had played any Spyro games before, so no nostalgia no nothing. I had no expectations and boy did I have fun, and it´s an easy platinum journey for each of the three games. There aren´t any missable trophies, so just have fun on your first playthrough and when you finish its clean-up time, the trophies are straightforward. The first two games required 100% completion, it´s easier than it sounds, furthermore the third game which it´s the longest doesn't required 100% completion, so in 25-30ish hours you would complete three platinums playing highly enjoyable games. Popular Post Celestial_Lily
Platinum #65 - Division 2 Difficulty: 3/10 Fun: 5.5/10 This platinum was just under two years in the making! It improved since launch, and its turned into a really fun cover shooter game. The story was weirdly engaging, and better than I was expecting going into it. Admittedly it did take me two years to get to the end of the main story, so to speak, but for a looter shooter it definitely exceeded expectations. The end game gearing system isn't my cup of tea, with random rolls dictating your gear and having to farm on higher difficulties to get what you want. Other than that! - would recommend on sale.
