Popular Post hittheroadbucky
Platinum #59 The Witcher 3 Enjoyment: 4/10 Difficulty: 4/10 I’m going to get my most controversial point out of the way first: this is an incredibly overhyped game. After playing and platting Greedfall I was in the mood for another RPG and the Witcher has been in my backlog since 2016. After some research on a death March run I decided to install my partner’s GOTY edition instead so I could new game plus it and start with all the bonuses. However for some reason it’s a separate trophy list so now I have 2 Witcher’s and one will just remain at 12% forever because fuck doing this again. Thankfully I was able to get all the missables in my DM run so I did only need the one playthrough, and honestly one was plenty. I feel like this game is far too long and padded out with some of the most pointless filler. I was ready for the game to end in Novigrad if I’m honest. I enjoyed gwent and I loved the Bloody Baron’s quest line, but this was a real slog to get to the end. Also that 50 headshots trophy was awful ? All in all I’m glad I have the platinum and I’m proud I did a run in the hardest difficulty (which honestly isn’t hard, I checked a few times throughout to make sure I was still in DM) but I would never touch this game again. I won’t be stacking it and if you missed this game on release I wouldn’t recommend it now ?
Popular Post StraightVege
Leave Possible? #264 Not just another supernatural coming-of-age tale! On the contrary, Oxenfree plays with some strikingly original temporal concepts, mostly avoids the teen drama clichés, and features greater replayability than games many times its size. Its audio-visual approach is also pretty unlike anything I've seen, with 3D characters traversing over unique 2D painted backgrounds, and contrasting digital screen disturbances to indicate a paranormal occurrence. Created in-part by former Telltale developers, this spooky graphic adventure is built around the idea of "walk and talk": rather than being locked in a cutscene exchange of dialogue, as is typical of the genre, you can usually respond to other characters while continuing to move around and make progress. This really improves your sense of agency as the player, but comes with its own problems, since a lot of actions will outright cancel ongoing dialogue. At times, lines will even tread over each other if you're progressing too quickly for the game to keep up, so this mechanic needed more work. Honestly, while the adolescent cast is rarely stereotypical, I think they talk too much. It almost feels like the writers were afraid of silences, and some of the dialogue is trying so hard to sound natural or personable that it actually comes off stilted. I repeatedly ran into a particularly irritating bug, too, where my character stopped responding to inputs, forcing me to reload an older checkpoint. Oxenfree is still totally worth playing, if you crave a novel narrative-driven experience that toys with your mind and expectations, and where your decisions have noticeable effects. Being that it's on sale for a dollar right now, it's hard not to recommend this. Popular Post AJ_Radio
Platinum #268: Assassin's Creed Revelations (February 21st, 2021) Difficulty: 4/10 Excitement Rating: 7/10 Estimated Time to Platinum: 30 - 35 Hours Hardest Trophy: Fond Memories ( Achieve 100% Synchronization in all Sequences ) Funny enough, when I bought this game as part of the Ezio Collection on the PS3 back in 2014, I had no real intentions of going for the platinum. And even if I did, the online trophies would stop me from doing so due to the fact that I had horrendously bad internet at that time. Where I live now my internet isn't exactly stellar, but it's definitely an improvement over what I had before. Because I did the PS4 remaster of this game back in 2017 and enjoyed it, much of my memory on Assassin's Creed Revelations was still intact. The online trophies actually weren't that bad at all. I managed to find a group of good people help me boost the DLC online trophies and help me obtain the Explorer trophy in the base game. Story wise, I am not as fond of Ezio here as I was in the previous two games. I will give Ubisoft credit for making a character who grew up, matured and flourished as an Assassin. I can't think of anyone else whom you start playing when he is quite young only to continue to play as him when he is an old man beyond his prime. The short animated film of Ezio in his final days furthered my love for him, and it's generally easy to understand why Ezio is still a lot of peoples favorite Assassin. Reaching 100 percent sync in all main missions was the toughest trophy, but they were relatively easy when compared with Brotherhood and Assassin's Creed III. Overall, not my favorite, but one worth playing for fans of the series for the Altair storyline alone. Platinum #269: Prince of Persia (March 3rd, 2021) Difficulty: 3/10 Excitement Rating: 7.5/10 Estimated Time to Platinum: 12 - 15 Hours Hardest Trophy: Combo Specialist ( Find every combo in the game ) Prince of Persia was the last game in the series I needed to finish. Most of my thoughts on this game were stated in my status update, so I'll refrain from repeating most of it. A bit unique in many respects. This game has open world exploration, while the other Prince of Persia games with trophy support are entirely linear. In my opinion, having to collect 1001 light seeds and doing over 60 combos in this game puts this a step above The Forgotten Sands in terms of difficulty. I had to look up YouTube guides for both the light seeds and the combos, with the latter requiring the player to be very specific. If an enemy dies during a combo it will not count, among other things. The combat was a bit satisfying as you fight one enemy at a time. Which was also the formula for the old 1989 original that goes by the same name, Prince of Persia. Platforming was to be expected, and anyone who knows the Prince of Persia series knows it is heavy on acrobatics. One of the early PS3 era games to get trophy support back in 2008 when trophies started, but I enjoyed my time with Prince of Persia. Obviously, the game is rather dated nowadays, but I value good gameplay above all else. And Prince of Persia didn't disappoint. To be honest at first glance I did not like the changes they made for the second game. Fortunately the game is still really good. It's different, but still feels like Gungeon. If anyone enjoyed Enter the Gungeon, I'd definitely recommend them to check out the sequel. Exit the Gungeon is way easier game and the trophy list is much easier as well and less grindy, way less. The fact that there is only 344 game owners makes me sad ;__; Difficulty: 4/10 Enjoyment: 8/10

Popular Post BlitzkriegHottie
Geometry Wars 3 Dimensions (PS4) What a roller-coaster this was. I always tend to disagree with platinum difficulties, but this site's 9/10 and ps3t.org's 8.2/10 do sound reasonable. Although, maybe an 8 is the more appropriate rating. Both guides's "hardest parts" (Retro trophy and getting all 150 stars) weren't really much of a problem to me, but instead a couple other challenges were, and since those were never elaborated upon, I thought I was going crazy, getting stuck on apparently "easy" stuff. Max ranking the co op levels solo was a headache on its own as well. Maybe it's impossible to accurately rate this platinum's difficulty, guess luck plays a big factor as well. Popular Post StrayEidolon
Platinum #100: Streets of Rage 4 My Work Here is Done Streets of Rage is one of my fondest memories of gaming. On my first video game console; the Sega Mega Drive. (Not counting handhelds, otherwise it would be the original Game Boy.) Those were great times playing co-op with siblings/relatives and accidentally punching and throwing each other. We were so bad, we'd rarely reach Mr. X, let alone beat him! But those rare times of seeing the credits was always worth it. Adam was always my go-to character. Blaze was my first video game crush, she was way cooler than Golden Axe's Tyris Flare. Pfft.Fast forward decades later to Streets of Rage 4. I still can't believe the series resurfaced. My boy Adam Hunter is finally back! Cherry, his daughter, is smacking fools with her indestructible guitar and she's not the only new character. Floyd Iraia is Dr. Zan's apprentice and he dishes out major damage. Axel the gamer has grown a full beard. Blaze is looking better than ever. It's a shame that old playable characters Shiva, Roo and Max aren't playable in the new art style. Estel Aguirre would've been cool to play as too. But it's understandable considering how much work's been put in to each SoR4 character. I've read they have ~1000 frames of animation each? Dayum.I love the art direction they went with this game. Looking back at the old box arts, my memory of them was that they looked rather ugly. But actually they don't look so bad. Definitely nowhere near the old infamous Mega Man box art! Anyway, I never thought the series would end up looking like this. I could watch an entire animated series in this style. I've definitely become a fan of Ben Fiquet. When it comes to the music, they definitely delivered in my opinion. I'm enjoying this just as much as I loved the first game's soundtrack. Olivier Deriviere did an awesome job. I'm ecstatic that my copy came with the soundtrack and I'll be playing it in the car for sure. It's great to see that Yuzo Koshiro and Motohiro Kawashima have compositions in the soundtrack after all of their work in the series. Surprised to see Yoko Shimomura was behind Shiva's theme! I love her work in Kingdom Hearts. The game is just as fun of a beat 'em up as the rest of the series. The story is short (which I'm actually grateful for in a gaming landscape full of huge open world) but it is super replayable. Stage select. Couch co-op and online. Higher difficulties chuck tons of enemies at you.Now it's time to be honest with myself. I don't think I'm any better at Streets of Rage than I was as a kid in front of the old CRT TV and Mega Drive. In fact I may have gotten worse... Shout out to never-more1414. Randomly started playing with them through the online feature and they are an absolute BEAST at this game. I felt bad every time I got hit and ruined their many 'Out Of This World' combos. They basically handed me this game's 100% on a platinum platter! Thanks again, it's been a blast watching you destroy the final bosses at the castle after I died outside the front gates. And I honestly mean it!

I've obtained all the trophies for this fantastic series. I thought it was going to be a lot harder because, unlike the first CotM, it comes with a Platinum. But it was another piece of cake. Huge replayability (although i did an extra Episode 2 playthrough because i entered the Stage Select screen by mistake, basically nullifying the "That Woman, Dominique" trophy... D'OH... never EVER touch that option AT ALL if you're going for that trophy) and great endings, especially the one for completing the Final Episode with only Zangetsu... thank goodness they let you choose his version when you complete it once... you don't even have to deal with a Boss Rush-related trophy this time around. Popular Post Conor
#95- RESIDENT EVIL 0 [PS4] Wanna Go for a Ride? Earn all trophies Enjoyment: 5/10 Challenge: 6/10 Playthroughs: 4 (+2 Leech Hunter runs) Time: 5 Days, 23 Hours and 46 Minutes / 20 hours in-game Rarity: 1.9% Ultra Rare (PSN) / 10.19% Rare (PSNProfiles) Hardest Trophy: This is Serious Business- Finish the game without using a recovery item (including green chemicals) Unlike the Resident Evil remake, I was actually completely unfamiliar with this game. Of course, I had heard about it and the unique item management mechanics inspired by the series' spiritual predecessor Sweet Home and the use of two characters, but I never picked it up on the Gamecube or Wii nor did I play the HD version until now. I had also heard pretty lukewarm things overall about the game, but I tried to come into it with an open mind- after all it was a classic style Resident Evil game and I have nothing but love for the original trilogy as well as the remake, which preceded this game by 7 months. Unfortunately, however, the criticisms I had heard about it were very accurate. You play as Rebecca Chambers, the plucky young medic from the ill-fated S.T.A.R.S. BRAVO team who are investigating the grisly murders occurring in the Arklay Mountains. Her squad happen upon an overturned military police van with the personnel dead and record of a missing prisoner, ex-Marine Billy Coen who is scheduled for execution for war crimes. Rebecca then finds a derelict train, the Ecliptic Express and investigates, finding the passengers dead and rising again as zombies. She runs into Coen and the two must co-operate to survive against the villainous James Marcus, a founder of Umbrella who was murdered by his proteges William Birkin and Albert Wesker, but resurrected by his T-Virus leeches which he controls by... singing opera? Anyway, the story is overall pretty lacklustre and inconsequential and even nonsensical to the lore of the series- Marcus spread the T-virus in the Lab and Mansion? Another mansion-like building nearby exploded and nobody noticed? Rebecca went from being Ellen Ripley in this to the naive rookie she is portrayed as in Resident Evil? I get that this is a prequel but it is a mess. Birkin and Wesker are shown operating behind the scenes but they leave about halfway through the game and do nothing other than watch cameras and babble typical villain nonsense. Newcomer Billy Coen is a pretty forgettable character and he hasn't shown up since and I really couldn't care less. Gameplay is similar to other classic Resis- fixed camera angles, tank controls and item management. This time, however, in lieu of the Item Box you must instead leave weapons and items behind and come back to them later or swap them between characters. Neat in concept but pretty aggravating in practice as quite a lot of your game time is spent on managing your equipment. Both characters can only carry six items or even fewer if you are using bigger weapons which take up TWO slots. You can hot swap between characters and bring them to different areas but you have to be careful as if a character is left somewhere dangerous they could get hurt and die if you aren't fast enough, and one death is a game over. Overall, I found the item management mechanics painful overall. I also hugely disliked the second area of the game, the Umbrella Training Facility. Clearly an attempt to be the a Spencer Mansion 2.0, but it is far less memorable and iconic than the original setting. The train sequence is pretty cool but it only last about a half hour. Everything after the facility is just standard Resi fare. There is a battle with a Tyrant (which is pretty out of nowhere) and then have an endurance battle as the final boss encounter, keeping the Leech Queen off Rebecca as she literally opens up a roof to kill it with sunlight. Beating the game once unlocks Leech Hunter Mode in which you go through the Training Facility (*groan*) and collect 100 leeches of different colours to unlock infinite ammo and awesome weapons like the incredible Magnum Revolver which kills almost anything in one hit. The most fun I had with this game was the runs in which I had infinite ammo. The difficulty is a bit above a regular Resident Evil game but overall perhaps not quite as challenging as the Invisible Enemies and Real Survivor modes of the remake, but Hard is no joke here as you have to be very careful with your ammo and health items as enemies take and deal a lot more damage than even on Normal. I'm surprised that the platinum rate for this game is as high as it is when you take into account the difficulty of Hard mode and how laborious the game is to play overall. The visuals are stunning- I know this is a HD remaster but it is astonishing to think that the Gamecube was capable of such graphics. It is about the best thing about the game, whereas everything else is just mediocre. The bosses are sort of uninspired because all of them bar the Proto-Tyrant (which like I said just appears out of nowhere) are just giant animals of some kind- giant scorpion, giant centipede, giant bat, giant leech. Easily the weakest of the classic mainline Resident Evil games and one that I can almost consider non-canon given how utterly inconsequential any of it is. Oh well, at least I can say that I have played it, though I doubt that I will ever return to it. Edited March 9, 2021 by Stan Lee

Popular Post rjkclarke
Platinum #309 ICO (PS3) Enlightenment Acquire all trophies I'll say this now, everybody that has a PS3 or has ever felt the want or need to play this game they should absolutely go out of their way to do so if they haven't already, it isn't that expensive to find a copy either. Put it this way I paid probably three times more for the special editions of both games in the Team Ico collection for the PS2 years ago compared to what I paid for this PS3 version, I don't feel ripped off either!! I've been meaning to play this again for such a long time. I'm so glad that I did as well. I feel like this is probably one of the better HD remasters too, I've played quite a few HD remasters now and certainly in the last few years I think the actual effort put into them is starting to dwindle. Tempting as it is though I won't ride the "haha look at Mafia II remaster isn't it terrible" train, I just think a lot more love and care went into remastering ICO and Shadow of the Colossus than perhaps some others have had, I personally think the Shenmue collection could have been remastered a little better than it was. I'm hoping the same amount of love went into Shadow of the Colossus in this collection I'll have to get around to playing through that soon as well, as it has been an equally long time since I've played that. I won't really mention anything about the story because everyone should absolutely experience it for themselves if they haven't already.it is one of the finest examples of something quite simple executed incredibly well. ICO's OST is incredible too and some of the emotive pieces of music really resonate, especially the song played over the credits. Sound design itself is used very effectively in some of the later sections of the game. I think the sparse use of sound effects really helps elevate heightened sense of the situation as a whole near the end, probably even more than I realised when I played this the first time, about fifteen years ago, I didn't tend to pay attention to things like that so much when I was younger. Gameplay and trophy wise ICO is a bit of a mixed bag, not in a bad way just that it is all a bit varied. On paper the trophies are all fairly simple, there aren't any collectables (unless you count hidden weapons which you have to go about 5 minutes out of your way for) which is always a nice bonus. The gameplay itself though, is actually I think one of the many shining points here, the game is essentially one giant escort mission, something that you would expect would be terrible but it really isn't. I don't think the game ever really feels unfair, but the controls and physics certainly do take a bit of getting used to, I watched a bit of a speedrun of ICO and one of the commentators cracked me up by saying and I'm paraphrasing here, that gameplay in this game is "like a bag of potatoes, dragging round a big sack of cottage cheese." Speaking of speedrun's this was probably the only trophy that I really had that much trouble with, because the time that is given is fairly tight (2 hours), but I managed to get through without too much trouble by just treating it like a segmented speedrun and reloading sections if I didn't feel like they were fast enough, If I was to give advice here I'd pair this with the trophy for beating the game without using a continue because you'll essentially be doing that anyway to keep within the time limit. I also got my 15,000th trophy whilst getting the platinum in ICO,I almost had a terrible laugh out loud milestone that just read "Failure" because I hadn't really noticed I was creeping up on one, but thankfully it was my 14999th instead! Haha I had such a great time with this though, I think if somebody was to compile a list of "X number of game's to play before you die/quit gaming" ICO should absolutely be on the list. It is worth playing even if you never intend to go for the platinum on it. One blind play-through would probably only take about six hours anyway so it is well worth peoples time. I should probably play something a little more recent next though haha, because the last three games I've played have been between ten and twenty years old!! Robots are commonplace, humans are gene splicing with animals creating "hybrid" humans, and all public services are now privatized. You're on a mission to find out what happened to your friend after his sapient robot tells you your friend has been kidnapped. This game is part visual novel and part point-and-click. I'd lean more toward the former because the latter is basically only 3-4 times where you actually use objects with other objects to solve puzzles; it's mainly used just to talk with other characters or observe objects. There are some mini games and some old-school shooter segments, which really suck, but nothing more to the game than that. The story was pretty good, though the writers made things far too PC which was a turn off for me. I'm sure some people would find it progressive, but I thought it was a bit too much... made it really hard to take some of the things in the game seriously. Overall, it was an ok game. Definitely made super easy by the guide on this site. Edited March 9, 2021 by eigen-space

Popular Post Shrooba
Platinum #42 - True Phantom Thief Persona 5 Strikers Another great game in the Persona series! This game is set as a direct sequel to Persona 5, with a new story that spans across many different places with new and familiar characters; from well established ones like Yusuke, to newcomers like Zenkichi, the cast is all well written and good as ever. In this story, the Metaverse makes a return in the form of jails, and it's up to the Phantom Thieves to change hearts and change the public's perception once again. Gameplay-wise, we see an interesting stray from the regular turn-based formula to something akin to a more action paced venture. While playing P5S, I really enjoyed the gameplay a ton, and the function to switch to other characters on the fly is really cool and makes progressing through the story very open as you can tackle each area with whoever you want. I'd go into more, but seeing as the game just came out, there's not much I can say other than the fact that this game is fantastic! Difficulty: 3/10 (you can play the game on any difficulty) Enjoyment: 10/10
