Popular Post Valyrious
#84 - Steins;Gate Elite Yet another Steins;Gate platinum. Pretty funny how, as I was trying to figure out what TIP I was missing, and how to obtain it, my phone went off and I saw this tweet: Divergence meter clearly stands for 21.03.17, aka March 17th, 2021. Maybe another Steins;Gate game? Hope it's not Steins;Gate 0 Elite. Though, if it is, this post becomes even more hilarious / painful. Anyway, not much to say about Elite. More of the same, not as good as the original VN. Still nice to revisit my favourite story of all time. Popular Post rjkclarke
Platinum #310 The Infectious Madness of Doctor Dekker (PS4) Platinum Trophy Acquire all trophies. This will probably end up being a fairly short post. (Upon editing this, I turned out to be so wrong and ended up being longer than I thought, I guess I ended up having a lot to say about it haha!) Due to the fact I don't often like to really talk about story, just in case people get spoiled when they might not like to. This being a game that is 100% story driven, I'll just have to skim around things I suppose. I think I was initially drawn to this just because of the title. One of my favourite horror anthology films is Dr. Terror's House of Horrors, it isn't the greatest horror film or anything, but it is very interesting and quirky, which in a way is quite similar to this game, so that turned out to be quite a pleasant surprise. I have pretty limited experiences with FMV games, I had only played Erica up to this point, which is a bit of a mixed bag. I'm all for experimenting with new gaming experiences though and this certainly was interesting, I'll probably try a few more in future. Erica I think is quite a good experience but I started to see more and more flaws the more I delved into Erica, like a lot of people did I think. Plus there is only so many times you can hear the words "I think, that you are magic too" before you start to get a bit sick of it. (Anybody that has played Erica will probably get what I mean haha.) The Infectious Madness of Doctor Dekker though, does take the concept of an interactive experience and really runs with it. One of the unique things about this is that practically everybody will have a slightly different experience, as not everything plays out the same each time through. For example one persons play-through will probably have a different killer to another and certain subplots and minute details might be different, which I suppose would give it some replay value if you particularly enjoyed it. The cast of characters are all very interesting and there was only really one or two characters that I was a little less interested in than others. I think they give fairly equal prominence to each character's story, which was definitely a positive. A game/experience like this does always have to be interesting to keep you engaged, the various twists and turns the story takes always left me wanting to know more, even though some of those things ended up being quite unsettling. The gameplay basically consists of you in session with various patients of Dr Dekker who has been murdered, interviewing them to try and find out both the cause of his death and their ailments. It ends up being a mix of pre-set questions that the game gives you to ask, along with your own questions that you have to manually type in using the PS4 keypad, which I thought was a really interesting idea for a gameplay feature. You aren't going to find any Academy Award nominee's among the cast of actors this game, but that isn't to say they are bad because they aren't. There are a few moments in this where some of the actors really shine, you just have to look at it in the context that it is a fairly low budget game, so just like a lower budget film or television show you can't always find the greatest actors, which I feel bad saying actually because I genuinely don't think any of them are bad. Why the devs decided that several of the female cast didn't need to wear shoes is certainly a bit of a head scratcher though. As far as the trophies and the platinum goes, if you are looking for a quick and easy platinum this isn't it, easy yes, quick? Not really. It probably takes between 10-12 hours if you are typing the questions with the Dual Shock Controller. At the minimum you would need 8 anyway for the Late Shift trophy. The upside is that you can get all of the trophies in one play-through if you make a point of regularly backing up your save, there are guides available as well, just be prepared to improvise a bit, because your play-through almost certainly wouldn't match up with the guides because each persons play-through will differ slightly, but it will only be small deviations so no need to worry too much. On a little side note, I think the platinum tile for this game looks pretty cool, but every other tile looks like that too, which is a bit of a shame. I honestly would recommend this for a few reasons, if you like psychological horror/thrillers you will probably like this, or at least the some of the more interesting idea's regarding psychology they are trying to present. Alternatively you might purely if you are a fan of FMV games, which seem to be making a little bit of a mini resurgence within the last few years, you would probably enjoy this too. As an extra bonus it does go on sale quite often I think so you would probably be able to pick it up for a decent price! Popular Post eigen-space
Platinum #129 - Glass Masquerade Art Deco, 88.83% Rarity Difficulty - 1.5/10, Time Spent - ~4 Hours , Enjoyment 7/10 In this game you put together stained glass pieces to make a stained glass clock for 25 different puzzles. Each puzzle is themed after a country. There aren't any difficult trophies-- you just get one trophy for completing each level as well as one for starting the game and one for finishing all puzzles. So the trophies are only as difficult as their individual puzzles. A puzzle can take between 5-15 minutes depending on how hard it is. The game was pretty relaxing. Had a nice soundtrack that I didn't get tired of despite that it's only a couple songs. Overall, solid game. I got it during the indie sale in a bundle with the sequel for like $2. I think even if it was just this one game it would have been my money's worth, but I have a second one to play too so that's a bonus!
Popular Post Ode2Destruxion
Little Nightmares II (PS4) #36 Primetime Content Consumer This was a very good game. I played the first one and the only disappointment was that there was no platinum. Unfortunately this put a lot of people off playing the game which was a real shame, because both games are an unforgettable ride. But on to part II, I wouldn't necessarily say the game was scary (although in parts it was) overall - but the sound, the scenery, the dark visuals make it a 100% creep-a-thon throughout. The enemies are well thought out and unique to each chapter - each with their own horrific personality and traits to keep you second guessing what's next throughout. The story is vague and a struggle to understand, even if you've played the first - which is sort of frustrating when you want answers as to what the hell is happening. The trophy list is very easy and the full platinum can be achieved in 3-4 hours with a guide. I wouldn't recommend that if you have paid full price for it though as it's not really value for money. But if you play through it properly and then use a guide to mop up the trophies (or hunt for them yourself - although the descriptions are cryptic so it might be a struggle for some) you may just about get your money's worth. Overall I'd go for... 8/10

Popular Post Quink666
#363 Marvel's Avengers Omega Level Accomplishment 8,22% Difficulty: / Fun: / Trophies: / Time to Plat: 85ish hours over 12 days This game truly has potential. Playing each hero is really satisfying and fun. They all play in a unique way aswell. But where this game falls so extremely short is the mission design, it's extremely tedious and repetitive. Every mission is either kill that or capture this and that or a mix of both. It is also riddled with bugs. Everything from trophies glitching to mission breaking bugs, enemies can fall through the floor and so can you, graphical glitches of all sorts and the occasional crash. If only the missions would have been interesting this game would have been an ok game. The story was acceptable with my biggest issue beeing the protagonist Kamala Khan aka rubber woman. She is so very forgettable and by far the least interesting hero on the entire roster The trophies are as tedious as they come. Grind this and grind that. With the 50 hives trophy beeing by far the most annoying one. You have to grind through a total of 250 floors of booring objectives. The best part about the trophies is that the trophy for 250 combined levels popped at 167 levels for me. You can also only earn so much Polychoron (required for major artifacts and power level 150) each day, which makes this an artifically longer plat for that reason alone. If you wan't to play this i recommend picking it up in the bargain bin of a local store or preowned. By then MAYBE they have fixed all issues with the game.
Popular Post JoaLoft
#244 - Yakuza: Like A Dragon It's pretty embarrassing to admit, but I own all the main Yakuza entries, and not a single one have I been able to finish entirely with a shiny platinum trophy. Until yesterday, that is. Yakuza: Like A Dragon is the eighth entry, but it is aside from Yakuza 0 the best starting entry if you've yet to play a Yakuza game. It features an entirely new protagonist and fresh storyline, meaning veterans of the franchise will definitely love the cameos and nods to previous games, but everyone can pick this up and understand what is going on. The story could be considered an origin story, and is - in traditional Yakuza fashion - very compelling from start to finish, with a really satisfying build-up and climax. The year is 2019, and you take on the role of loveable Yakuza goofball, Ichiban Kasuga, an ordinary member of the Arakawa Family of the Tojo Clan who is released from prison serving an eighteen-year sentence, after taking the fall for a murder he didn't commit. When he exits the correctional facility however, no one outside is waiting for him, and when he returns home to his crime family, the man he adores the most - his boss - betrays him and shoots him out of the blue. Barely surviving the incident, he is left with even more questions. Questions he wants answered, as he meets new friends and sets out to discover the truth, peeling away layer after layer of dark secrets and shocking revelations. First off: Ichiban is a wonderful and fantastic new protagonist to take up the mantle after Kazuma Kiryu's retirement. There's a childlike innocence to him, in part due to his wacky hairstyle, but he is also brave, empathic and his heart is in the right place. Heterosexuality aside for a moment: I love him. Same goes for all the supporting cast: none of them felt out of place or annoying. They all have their own motives, but they're amazing characters. The only gripe I have, is that because this is the start of an entirely new series of Yakuza games with new characters, that the story's pacing is pretty slow in the first few chapters. Comprehensible though: setting up the board and all the pieces (to put it metaphorically) simply takes some time before things ramp up and you're left glued to the screen. Second: they completely changed the combat. It used to be real-time, but now Yakuza has taken the leap into the RPG genre. Enemy designs look freaky and eccentric, explained by the fact that Ichiban is a Dragon Quest fan himself and has a vivid imagination whenever he fights. This turn-based style means you'll have access to a huge array of normal attacks, magic attacks and summons (called Poundmates!) in pure Yakuza style which are hilarious. All these moves are unlockable depending on the jobs (i.e. subclasses) you take up for each character. So it's safe to say you'll be leveling up plenty, buying, crafting and upgrading weapons and armor, and so much more. Another staple of the Yakuza franchise is that this game is filled to the BRIM with content. Where to begin! There are over 50 substories which range from very endearing, such as a little girl collecting donations for her younger brother's surgery or helping a homeless man craft a birthday gift, to just plain hilarious, like a masochist looking for the ultimate pain he yearns for, or stopping an oversized robotic vaccuum cleaner gone rogue in the city of Yokohama. You can enter intimate relationships with female side characters you meet throughout the game's events. There's arcade halls featuring OutRun, several Virtua Fighter games, Space Harrier, Super Hang-On, Fantasy Zone, and the typical UFO Catchers. You can go for drinks with party members and develop a bond with them, learning their own intriguing backstories. There's darts, and a batting center and a golf center where you can practice your baseball and golf swings to earn rewards. Karaoke makes its return as well with some great songs, and traditional card games like Koi-Koi, Oichi-Kabu, Poker and Blackjack are present, just like the tile game Mahjong (which I still need to try and understand, haha). There's a Vocational School where you take multiple-choice tests which challenge your overall real-life knowledge and boost Ichiban's stats if you pass them. You can tackle a Battle Arena and a few sewer dungeons to find special high-end rewards. There's a funny movie theater minigame where you try to sit through loads of cheap knock-off movies without falling asleep, based on real movies with familiar-sounding titles such as "Office Alone", "RoboCook" and "Lord of the Wedding Rings: Matrimony of the Ring". There's a Can Quest minigame where you collect as many cans as possible with a bicycle while competing with other can collectors and a garbage truck. There's an entire Part-time Hero system which allows you to help out the innocent by dispatching thugs, delivering items, and leveling up. There's Dragon Kart, a racing minigame which is one of my favorites with its own storyline, where you must beat adversaries in actual kart races, letting you buy multiple racing karts and improve them! And last but definitely not least, my personal favorite: you also have access to a business management minigame - vastly superior to the Yakuza 0 real estate management minigame - which deals with the acquiring of properties and employees, getting access to special employees by finishing the previously mentioned substories, promoting and providing them with training courses, handling expenses and expanding businesses, buying commercial timeslots on media for increased revenue, presiding over shareholder meetings, ... All with its own storyline as well. And there's New Game Plus if you'd ever like to experience the story all over again, feeling like an overpowered total badass. There is. So. So. Fucking. Much! You'll be playing this game for dozens and dozens and dozens of hours exploring it all. And there is so much variety in everything. For everyone who is already missing Yakuza powerhouses Kazuma Kiryu and Goro Majima: let me put you at ease by assuring - without spoiling anything about the story or the gameplay elements - that this game provides the full Yakuza experience. You'll cross the finish line feeling fully satisfied. In conclusion: stellar performances, loveable cast, great story, hilarious minigames and substories, deep turn-based combat, and tons of side content. Visuals and audio are all of a typically high level as well. There are hardly any noteworthy cons to speak of at all, aside from the initial slow story pacing. It pains me to see the masses gobble up generic annual digital fodder like Call of Duty, when the Yakuza franchise exists. Do us all and yourself a favor, leave Call of Duty for what it is and jump into a Yakuza game just once. Yakuza: Like A Dragon is without a doubt one of its strongest entries yet, exudes passion and quality and deserves your full attention. SEGA has convinced me of the franchise's future potential with Ichiban at the helm, and I am very much looking forward to Yakuza 8! Most frustrating trophy - Victory of the Millennium Initially, I was going to put the "Super Human" trophy here which requires you to level up all of Ichiban's personality traits to the maximum. Annoying, because you have to specifically go out of your way completing challenges to max out the remaining ones after the story. But, after having acquired the platinum trophy, this spot easily goes to "Victory of the Millennium", the only golden trophy in the list which presents you with the challenging task of beating the hardest tough-as-nails post-story dungeon in the game. Aptly named the True Final Millennium Tower, this final dungeon throws the game's worst at you. Enemies are level 99, are resilient to normal attacks, deal a lot of damage with one hit, and the final boss is intimidating enough with his attacks and super move that it would make the story's final boss shit his pants. Twice. You need to be fully prepared for the mayhem you'll encounter as you run this gauntlet: grinding and leveling up your party to level 99, leveling up at least one job to 99, leveling up a bunch of others to at least around 20-30, improving your ultimate weapons, stocking up on loads of medicine, and clenching your buttcheeks all the way to the very end. If you'd like to see my setup and strategy or if you need some help, I wrote everything down in this post. Don't peek if you haven't finished the story yet, because you might see some spoilers concerning some characters. The grind took up a few days in total, but never felt too tedious. At the end of the day, my time (100+ hours!) with Yakuza: Like A Dragon was well-spent. Fantastic game.

Great story, challenging game. The only downside would say is the last long grindy trophies. #160 Immortal: Fenyx Rising Difficulty: 3/10 Enjoyment: 7/10 This is one if those games from which I didn't expect much and it was a good surprise, funny game. While its mostly port from psp versions. It is great one. The CS mode is long but not so hard. Contains over 200missions to do. Gets little boring at the end actually. Rest of the time you will spend doing the Bird of legend trophy. You need to do the QUZ route No damage. While it may sound extremely challenging its not too bad. Popular Post JourneySilvers
Trophy Mogul Stay A Ratalaika published game with a very rare plat? Yep. I bought this game because I love pixel based puzzle/adventure games, though I have to be honest, I really ended up disliking this title two hours into it. The style and gameplay was something I was completely into, but the writing behind the character and the wrong choice endings had so many more misses than hits. Majority of the game is talking to the main character, and I ended up hating him tbh. So many of his stubborn disagreements with you are so completely illogical for his situation that I couldn't connect with him at all. I actually only stuck with this game to plat it because I didn't want it hanging over my head in my library as a possible plat- knowing I didn't want to play it. The trophies for the various endings are also super annoying because they require you to leave the game for certain stretches of hours. No way to just sit down and grind out the endings in a day. Oh well ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Theres always going to be experiences like that I suppose.
