Omelette Paradise
#476 & #477 - Football Game (Vita & PS4) This was an atmospheric pixilated point & click game that reminded a lot of The Long Reach, Home, and Claire (all of which I enjoyed) but without the horror elements. This one's more of a thriller. It's pretty short but it held my attention. Quite an enjoyable little story that kept me guessing til the end. Popular Post erickt123
#70 - Ratchet & Clank 2: Going Commando / Locked & Loaded (PS3) Spoiler Ratchet & Clank 2 is a shift from Ratchet 1's more platforming focused gameplay to a more action third-person shooter with platforming elements. In a way, Ratchet 2 is kind of the hybrid between Ratchet 1 and Ratchet 3 in that while platforming is not forgotten here, the game has more combat overall and the controls were updated to play well for this style of gameplay. While Ratchet 1 did had strafing with the Thruster Pack, Ratchet 2 is the game that made is a central game mechanic to the Ratchet series. Combat is a lot smoother with the added ability to strafe pretty much whenever so when it comes to combat, Ratchet 2 is an improvement...sort of. New to the series is the ability to upgrade weapons and health. For health, just defeat enemies and you level up a bar to get more health, and for weapons you upgrade it by simply using your weapons. Upgrading your weapons results in a more powerful weapon that can have more ammo, do more damage, and even have new things to the weapon like a turret attached to a remote explosive spider bot. This encourages you to use weapons you don't normally use so from a glance, you have more of an incentive to use all your weapons compared to Ratchet 1, or so I initially thought. Okay so where Ratchet 2 and pretty much the rest of the series end up falling short on with these new features is that enemy health and damage increases as you progress through the game, and the cost of weapons is much higher in this game as well. You get more bolts as you progress through the game and can earn more bolts through challenges or in the game's Challenge Mode, which has a bolt multiplier that increases by taking out enemies without getting hit. Challenge mode also increases the amount of bolts you can get through the challenges substantially, so there's that I guess. Even still, the weapons in this game are kind of a mixed bag, some are just weak without having to painfully go through the process to upgrade them, or some just become weak anyways even after you upgrade them like the Lancer, a weapon you are given early in the game. Some weapons just don't have as much ammo either and with enemies increasing in health as the game goes on, well it makes the weapons in the game feel so underwhelming. With enemies doing more damage to you to compensate you having more health over time, you can also buy armor to reduce damage but honestly, what was wrong with just having 4 hit points like in the first game and upgrading your health through different means? In fact, you can find health boosts scattered throughout the levels which does encourage exploration. Yeah I really was never a fan of this whole health system they pretty much have for every game since this one. To move onto the game itself, it does feel like some levels are just filler, especially the space combat levels which are so brief I wonder why they are in this game at all. Some routes in this game are just a few swings here, the pacing in the game isn't as great as Ratchet 1. Bosses are generally weaker in this game too, the Thief in this game went down in no time for me and the level they were in was so brief. Ratchet 1's boss levels were lengthy and has plenty of platforming and combat challenges to them, but in Ratchet 2, they are not so long besides the last level and even then, they really are just hallways with enemies tossed in. After you beat the game, you can play Challenge Mode and have access to "Mega weapons", that is if you already upgraded the weapons, if not, well, Challenge Mode increases the health and damage of enemies even further so now all your weapons are peashooters until you buy these Mega weapons. I went out of my way to upgrade all the weapons to Ultra there and well, dying is a little impossible now if I say so myself. That said, I am glad the Clank Zapper is not required to get the Platinum trophy in this game, because this was a painful weapon to upgrade, but well I did it anyhow. Overall, Ratchet 2 is still a fun game and sets the base for future Ratchet games to come. For me personally however, playing through this game again made me kind of realize how much I dislike all the new things added into the later games and while some games managed to find a sweet spot with all the new stuff here, I still feel that the pacing taken a bad hit here regardless. Not sure what I will think of Ratchet 3 when I get to it. #71 - Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus (PS Vita) I just remembered I had a PlayStation Vita, and I have the Sly Collection for it. Sadly in the US we don't have the Cross-Buy program so no free PS Vita copy with a PS3 one. Basically, this is Sly 1 on the PS Vita. It runs at a much lower resolution, it's at 30FPS and dips below that, and there are some new bugs from what I can tell like music not playing at all. Besides an easy platinum trophy that can be earned within 6 hours and can be done in one sitting (or between some naps like I did), well play the Sly Cooper games on the PS3 since that is at 720P and they all run at 60FPS there. I know the ports are not perfect and have some things excluded from the PS2 versions but well, kind of hard for me to really consider getting a handheld port of a game that just isn't as good as on a big TV. I guess I'll do Sy 2 next, apparently you can only use one power up at a time in the Vita version so that's another downside. Anyways, well, kind of wishing I got this platinum in under 6 hours but hey, not the best idea to play a game late at night and take long naps in-between.

Difficulty: 1/10 Enjoyment: 5.5/10 Metropolis: Lux Obscura Platinum Good job! Completed all tasks! Difficulty: 4/10 Enjoyment: 6.5/10 6 plats for $6! Surprisingly some weren't too bad, & not all button mashing auto-plats either. These are all the "Sometimes You" games I got for the Vita a while back for $1 each, most of them are fairly short & can be knocked out in a day/hours, overall pretty easy, but there were a few challenges... Sigi - This is just your basic platformer, the main challenges in this are probably the first & final bosses, but you can farm extra lives beforehand to make them trivial. There are some well hidden collectables in it you need to find, so a guide helps... the worst trophy in it is for doing the speed run, where you have to collect all collectables & clear the game in 30 minutes (if you're not rushing, this can take 40 minutes to an 1 hour), but if you're on version 1.00, there's a exploit you can abuse to earn that easily. ? Save the Ninja Clan - This is like a toned down version of Super Meat Boy, & despite it having a fairly high rarity, I found some parts of it pretty difficult (I died over 500 times! ). The worst trophy was easily for clearing 10 stages in a row without dying, this took me a few tries but thankfully you can pick which ones you do & it doesn't have to be consecutive (I did 1, 2, 4, 5, 11, 18, 20, 21, 24, & 29). Pantsu Hunter - Just an amusing point & click VN game about stealing the panties of your female friends... ? The stories are super short, but you have to do a TON of runs to get all the possible endings, & there's no skip function (you can button mash though). The only reason I gave this a 2 for difficulty is for 1 trophy, & that's for beating a certain mini game in 20 seconds, it's not that hard to do, but you have to be super precise where you're touching the screen to delete the viruses (sometimes I'd have to tap one 10+ times before it'd work). Steam Tactics - A grid-based SRPG, this is the biggest game on the list & probably my favorite out of the group (definitely worth $1). It's a simple story about a coup going on in a kingdom, the trophies are all mostly gotten just from playing through the story, but you do have to be careful to now sell too much stuff & lock you out of getting a 3* piece of equipment. Also worth noting, but someone should tell the character designer that only male deers have antlers... the queen in this game is a deer (like in the plat icon), but also has antlers, so... yeah (an Astolfo situation, maybe?). ? Breeder - The quickest/easiest game here, can be completed in under half an hour with a guide. Not much to say except the story was weird as hell, & I still don't fully understand it... Metropolis - A match-3 puzzle RPG, with a cool comic book art style. The story is so-so up to a point, however all 4 endings suck (I dropped my score down just for that), the difficulty ranges greatly due to RNG, & all the trophies (except 1?) can be gotten just by going for all the endings. Also a bit of a warning: careful where you play this, it is fully uncensored (at least in the US) & does have a couple sex scenes in it. I'm honestly surprised it made it to a PS console, it had to've been before Sony started going censor crazy... but then again, this isn't a Japanese game, so... ? Overall I think I got plenty of gameplay out of these for $1, if I had recommend against any of them, it'd probably be Breeder. There is one con most of these games have in common though, & that is that they have some type of performance/glitchy issues on the Vita. The first two had frame-rate issues (that sucks for platformers), the next two crashed on me a couple times, & Metropolis had a glitched trophy that made me do 2-3 extra playthroughs before it finally popped. So they're far from perfect, but what do you expect for $1 a piece? Edited June 4, 2021 by Masamune
Popular Post FFATMA
#63 - Yakuza Like a Dragon (PS5) - I loved this game so much I started it up again to get the PS4 platinum too! This one took 93 hours, but I'm pretty sure my second run is going to be quite a bit faster. Sometimes it felt like it was a movie with added gameplay, but it was so good I didn't mind at all! The PS4 run I'm now doing, I'm skipping most of the cut-scenes, which is going to dramatically reduce the time it takes! Great game, definitely recommend! It's also the first of the Yakuza games I've played so far!

Popular Post Cal
Mass Effect 3 Legendary Edition Platinum 53 And that's a wrap on the Mass Effect Trilogy pretty happy that I got all three plats now, unfortunately you can't get all the trophies in one playthrough like in 1 and 2 you have to upgrade a weapon to level 10 but you can only do that in new game+. So you have to play through the prologue and the Mars mission just so you can get back on the Normandy to upgrade a weapon to that level it's a little annoying but if you just rush through them you will get it in no time. This was also my first time playing the DLC's and I will say this Javik should of been in the main game and not DLC, the Leviathan DLC was kind of disappointing to me personally because all it really does is just add more lore to the Reapers, doesn't change the endings at all you think the race that created the Reapers would have more of a part in the story but nope...not really it's just like "Oh hey you exist why don't ya come help fight the Reapers." That's it they are never see, heard and like mention once at the ending it sucked, oh and the endings still suck too. Gonna be interesting to see which ending will be cannon in the next Mass Effect game though...I should give Andromeda a chance. Popular Post OakfieldPark
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. #31 Ah sh*t, here we go again. So lately I've been trying to platinum the games I grew up playing as a sort of bucket list thing and boy was it good going back to 2004 with this. The Janky PS2 controls, the brutal missions with no checkpoints, the characters with like 2 polygons for a head - *chef's kiss* loved it all. Took me right back to my small, grey, unreasonably heavy cube TV in the garage of my mums place with my high school friends after school taking turns trying to jump from the wing of a jet onto a floating firetruck in the sky (I did miss the cheats this time around ngl) with the show Scrubs on in the background and Blink 182 playing over an MSN tab. Not really much to report in terms of gripes here, I mean some of the jokes and slurs haven't aged well but there's still quality dialogue and I'd honestly forgotten just how many celebrities were in this outside of Samuel L. Jackson and James Woods. I'm a fan of challenging games and I'm also the kind of dude who thinks we've been a little bit spoilt with things like checkpoints, hints and hand-holding in modern games now not to mention the hundreds of dedicated guides and tips and helpful forums online for most games which have pretty much eliminated getting "stuck" on anything anymore so playing these early console titles that didn't get patch updates, while the internet was mainly just for Myspace, Miniclip and Neopets and where if you had no PS2 memory card you had no progress furthermore the bugs that were there at launch became a permanent part of the game and if you failed a 30 minute long mission, you had to do your angry controller clench then start right back at the beginning is all personally golden for me. Gotta love the pain. Lastly, how this game and Red Dead Revolver came out on the same console blows my damn mind. SA even by todays standards is huge. P.S. Still one of the best soundtracks to any game ever. This game is the root reason myself and my one of my best friends still know the lyrics to most Bran Nubian, Biz Markie and Public Enemy tracks.

You must be in my age group, late 20s early 30s I reckon at least. This game was huge back in 2004. We’ve really been spoiled in modern times. Never thought I’d hear someone ever mention Brand Nubian and Public Enemy. The true rappers of old school. Even today I listen to 2Pac and he completely blows today’s rappers out of the water, even if he died 25 years ago. And still, I’d love to go back. You can add Matchbox 20 to the list of bands worth listening to in the early 2000s. Nickelodeon was still enjoyable and hadn’t yet devolved into complete crap. The Sopranos was still making new episodes. Steve Carell was making people laugh in The Office. Adam Sandler’s career was still good. On and on and on. I can’t forget, Napoleon Dynamite, my favorite comedy of 2004. Edited June 5, 2021 by AJ_Radio
Popular Post Biscoito18
#100 - Resident Evil Village Difficulty: 6/10 Enjoyment: 9/10 What better to be my hundredth platinum than the newest game in my favorite franchise? RE Village turned out to be one of the best games in the main series with beautiful graphics, unique and striking characters, smooth gameplay and a surprisingly touching storyline. The wide variety of enemies and different locations adds a lot of replay value. The game has a great structure for those who like to speedrun and at the same time lots of extra areas and enemies spread out for those who like to explore off the main path. I thought I was going to hate Heinsenberg's factory but I ended up loving the beautiful industrial style and over-the-top Frankenstein-esque enemies. The only part that I think could've been better developed was Moreau's Reservoir which would've benefited greatly from a larger area for exploration and its own types of enemies. Also, Chris Redfield's gameplay should've been bigger. Most Frustrating Trophy: Legendary Cowboy I wasn't expecting to have such a hard time with this version of The Mercenaries minigame, but some levels, especially Factory 1 and 2, are poorly balanced and greatly limit the player's choices. I love the RE4 and RE5 versions as they give the player more freedom to choose how he wants to achieve the required score. Overall, this Mercenaries is a frustrating experience that I only bothered to play because of the trophy.

Popular Post eigen-space
Platinum #144 - Murdered: Soul Suspect 37.73% Rarity Difficulty - 4/10, Time Spent - ~10 Hours , Enjoyment 6.5/10 This game has you playing as the ghost of Ronan, a cop murdered while trying to catch The Bell Killer serial killer. Along the way, he finds the medium Joy who is looking for her missing mom, who was consulting on The Bell Killer case, and they help each other to uncover the truth behind this case. The game is mostly like a 3D point and click-- you interact with hotspots in order to find clues and then piece them together. Pretty standard for a detective-type game. But it also involves some very basic puzzle solving skills, like which items to posess in order to get Joy through some guarded areas. There's also stealth components, which were my least favorite aspect of this game, where you have to sneak up on demons and purge them. The thing I didn't like about this is that even if you're within range to perform your take-down, sometimes it doesn't recognize it and you get caught by the demon. Another thing that was annoying about this game are the collectibles. There's over 200 of them in the game, and they require a thorough investigation of the entire town. Fortunately there's a really good set of videos linked in this site's guide which take you on the most concise path to finding them all. Definitely a blessing, otherwise this could have been far more annoying. Overall, I'd say give this game a go if you aren't terribly turned off by the idea of collectibles. It has a great story that is definitely worth experiencing. Edited June 5, 2021 by eigen-space
