Popular Post Sardavanua
#185 - Undertale Don't You Have Anything Better to Do? Wether you like it or not, you gotta love it's soundtrack. Like oof, I forgot how catchy it is. The game is pretty darn good, but the second half felt like a slog. I played trough it with a friend of mine and we had quite a few laughs. Escpecially the floor tile puzzle with Papyrus spinning away had me in tears. It's such a neat game and I'm glad I played it once more. Dunno what to say anymore... I mean it's Undertale lol. The trophies are just a big troll by the way, the set could have been much more challenging, but Hey it least it got a Plat. Well, decided to buy this to fill the gap of 21 more trophies to line up Kakarot. Silly little game, where you drop everything into a hole that grows as items fall into it. Story is even sillier. #521- Hidden Agenda Platinum Earn all other trophies I've had this for awhile, and finally was able to plat it when I bought a phone not too long ago. Wasn't able to with just a tablet. Until Dawn it is not.. But it was alright. Just made a bit tedious with the app necessity, and needing to make backup saves as messing up a QTE could mean having to start an entire new run otherwise. :/ #522- Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot Dragon Ball MasterObtain all trophies. Popular Post Boomshanks
( 64) Jak 3 (PS3) Fait Accompli Enjoyment: 8/10 Difficulty: 4/10 So that’s another game off my backlog and the Jak trilogy completed on the PS3. It feels great to finally platinum a series that I played and loved so much back on the PS2. While I remembered pretty much everything when playing Jak 2, I found my memory seriously lacking when playing Jak 3. I could recognize the broad strokes within the story, but I had apparently forgotten most of the individual missions. This surprised me since I played the game so much as a kid, but it was cool since I got the experience the missions completely fresh again. Jak 3 is a much better balanced game than Jak 2. And what’s this… decent checkpoints that don’t put you back at the beginning of the mission? Are we sure this is a Jak game? All joking aside, in my opinion Naughty Dog took what worked from the previous game and expanded it. The Light Powers are a nice addition, especially with the flight mechanic near the end, though this meant I used the Dark Powers even less than in the previous game. I like the direction the story takes as well, with Jak being banished and feeling a resentment towards the people of Haven City. The world building is amazing with Haven City under attack from all sides and I love how they took an old area and reinvented it for the sequel. All of the fan favorite characters return, though I was surprised by how late in the story they start to show up. I was at about 70-80% through the story before meeting up at the Haven City headquarters. The villain… wasn’t as cool as I remembered him and apparently wants to destroy the world just cuz. The gameplay is still great and the gunplay is vastly improved with a total of two upgrades for each weapons. Since this basically means you have 12 weapons it’s a lot of fun to experiment with each one and figure out their strengths and weaknesses. It also means the game is much, much easier than the previous one. I only ever needed to restart when failing the platform missions or withing driving missions. And let’s talk about the driving. My God it’s bad . I wish I had the self-confidence of these developers to produce this abomination and then decide to make a racing game. The buggy’s all feel like they are constantly sliding on ice. The moment you start to turn, you pretty much lose all control which makes racing just no fun at all. And they felt the need to fill the game with racing missions. Shame on you Naughty Dog . As for the trophies, I went through the entire story while casually collecting orbs I could find. Then I used the brilliant IGN guide to collect all of the orbs scattered around the map and from the side missions. I just couldn’t be arsed to collect all of the high scores with the gun and buggy challenge orbs so I resorted to using the Jump Orb Glitch to collect the final ones as it somehow felt less like cheating . All in all it was a great experience (except for the driving part). I love the Jak franchise and I’m glad I could play through them all again and add their platinums to my collection. Maybe I’ll do it again sometime on the PS4 (or PS5) and even throw Jak X in the mix. But for now, there’s another plat waiting that I’ve Wanted to say Auf Wiedersehen to.

Popular Post TheArcadeKid
#216 - Table Top Racing: World Tour And it only took me 4 years and 6 months. Reason for the ridiculous gap is that I never intended to get the platinum. The online trophies put me off when I first played it, (and I didn't have PS Plus anyway), so I never attempted it. Anyway, this is a bizarrely polished racer that's a lot of fun, but not consistently. Winning races depends on upgrading your cars, and this is expensive, so playing some races for the first time feels like you're doomed from the start. The driving model is mostly satisfying but again, there's several upgrades for handling, so you're not getting the best driving experience most of the time. And by the time you have maxed out your car, it's time to move onto another speed class. The courses are fun to navigate, but I can't say they're particularly memorable or smart. The AI, on the other hand, is unusually smart, particularly with weapon use. It's definitely more on the aggressive side, which isn't normally a good thing. But I can see where the devs were going with it, and since most races are extremely short (2-3 minutes), I can just about tolerate getting rammed off the track every now and then. And then there's the music, which doesn't really fit with the game at all. Can't put my finger on the exact genre, so I'll just say it sounds incredibly similar to the kind of music I listened to when I used to go clubbing. Not exactly what I expect to hear when racing toy cars around a miniature track, but I think it does work out pretty well in the end. Some good songs here. There's DLC which is apparently only 79p, so I think I'll pick that up before I'm done with the game for good. It's a nice little racer, and it definitely got more exciting as I came closer to the platinum. But to be honest, I barely remembered it from 4 years ago, and it's unlikely I'll remember it 4 years from now. Would absolutely play a sequel, though.
Popular Post Dauersack
Stranded Deep #57 Stay Alive! This was game number 3 of my water game series after Abzû and Subnautica, and it is the reason I will stay away from water related games for a long time. I was sure this game would only take me a few days since the guide said it is 30 hours long and I had a lot of downtime. Let me tell you at this point that both the author of the guide and whoever gave this guide the ok to be used on the site are taking the PISS here. The fastest 100% guy needed LONGER than these 30 hours, and these guys usually are machines who use every trick, often already completed the game before and have planned the order of every step, so it is no surprise that I needed as long as I did for it. Screw you guide guy, I ended up using another guide most of the time anyway since that one is outdated, that item list has entries that don't even exist in the game anymore. About the game. I went into this game expecting a survival experience like The Forest, with maybe some story added and interesting things to do and discover. What I got was a buggy mess of a game that is ridiculously grindy and tedious to play, with controls so unintuitive that I had to look quite a few things up online to figure out how some things worked. The actual survival part of the game is babysitting the hunger and thirst meters of the character, and avoiding things that can kill you on other islands or the sea, nothing will make its way towards you like in The Forest to force you to be on the move or build defenses, nothing will guard anything of interest, cause there is nothing of interest for the most part. The annoying hunger and thirst meters are very easily taken care of, a single bird snare will give you more meat than you could ever eat, a few leafes that regrow will never stop giving you water, they are an afterthought that just nags on you every once in a while, while avoiding sharks is super easy by just building a raft and not directly going into the deep water. Other islands also have hogs and big crabs that will see you from a mile away and declare you their mortal enemy, never stopping to chase you no matter how long you run around on that island, it is as annoying as it sounds. Speaking of annoying, there are starfish you can step on, leading to you getting poisoned, you can also get poisoned by water snakes or lionfish swimming into you, which they will happily do, all the time. Getting rid of poison is only possible via antidote, for which you need 2 Pipi plants, but since there is a cap of 1 plant per island and you are not guaranteed to find one on another island, have fun either dying or going from island to island in order to get a single antidote against something that can happen at any point. The game clearly meant you to be a farmer and plant them on your main island, but it takes so long to grow two of them that you will likely be dead before they are finished, way better to reload the second you get poisoned. You can also break bones by falling from high places, but that is almost never even possible, you'd have to actively look for that to happen, and some things will make you bleed, though it is mostly the bosses you will only fight at the end. Aside from the bit of combat, eating and drinking, you spend most of your time hacking at small bushes and trees to gather stuff for a few tools or structures, and then after you stripped an island bare you move onto the next, rinse repeat, next island will have the same two enemies, or no enemies. This all gets more annoying due to how tricky it is to find certain things, leading to you looking around for far longer than you planned, in a game that has night time 50% of the available time where you see between fuck all and "whats tha...*bitten/poisoned". Hopping between the islands is incredibly boring because it takes several minutes to the nearest island in which you will have to do something else, and you have to do it all the time for various reasons, imagine any other game but you'd have to spend between 25% and 50% on any given day you play in loading screens, and you basically have an idea what it is like to play Stranded Deep. The map is gigantic, and it does not deserve that size. Since it is an ocean, most of it is empty, nothing to discover, about 20 islands, most of which look similar, 3 scripted "survivor sites" with a few items, a skelly and one has Wilson from the movie Cast Away as an Easter Egg, which is also where the game got quite a bit of its soundtrack from. There is not much else to discover aside from 3 bosses, which all work the exact same, have to be fought the exact same way via swimming around them and pelting them with spears, give the exact same reward and only differ in looks and hp pool. The hard task for me was finding the fuckers, since my game kinda acted out due to using the custom island feature and finding your way is already hard af in a game that is just off enough to make it hard in a bad way to find your way around with no ingame map and the compass being forbidden due to voiding a trophy. The game does not have a story either, your plane crashed somehow, thats it, have fun, escape or something, which you do at the end. It is basically The Forest without the story, worse mechanics, fewer enemies, nothing worth exploring and a ton of time cosplaying as Link from Wind Waker, only more boring. The bugs I have encountered are too numerous to mention them all in detail, from seagulls colliding with your raft throwing it half a world away, over stuff disappearing, to painful sound bugs and the classic horrendous performance there is pretty much anything on the menu, some were hilarious at least, but others could cost you a few hours of progress. This game is over 5 years old and it looks pretty bad, so absolutely no excuse for it to be in such a sorry state, I am beginning to lose my trust in indie devs at this point. Was there anything good in this game? Well in the first few hours it felt like an accomplishment to build anything resembling a camp, since nothing is ever explained and everything takes so long. The music is decent and was heavily inspired by the movie "Cast Away", which was an amazing movie, so no surprises there. There are a few funny ideas for structure and vehicle building, like a Gyrocopter, but also dumb ideas, and using very hard to get materials like Barrels for your buildings or rafts makes no sense since they have the exact same qualities as stick structures, a motorized raft has the same speed as a sail raft for example. The game did a somewhat good job of making you fear the water, since theres sharks and venomous shit everywhere so whenever it forces you into the water to dive into a wreck or look for crappy clay at the bottom of the sea it can create some tense moments. Generally I would describe the game as a waste of time though, especially the plat, as it wants you to craft every available item, which means a ton of grinding and searching for shit, on a map that is 10x larger than it has any right to be, most things in this game are designed to waste your time and the fun factor this game does have dies early on, building massive structures would take hundreds of hours and the game gives you no incentive to do it, no looming threat. If you ever find yourself looking for a survival game of sorts, play The Forest, or Conan Exiles, as both are vastly superior games. Popular Post Cpt-Redding
Metro 2033 Redux Platinum #80: Difficulty: 3/10 Rating: 6/10 Time to Platinum: 20 hours Best trophy: Invisible man - Complete FRONTLINE level without killing anyone. Worst trophy: Inquisitor - Kill 2 demons. Quietly decent little game that has sat in my backlog for many a year at this point. Bought the original sequel, Last Light, on PS3 back in the day but never really got far into it for a number of external factors, but always enjoyed the aesthetics, setting and lore of the series, so with Exodus appearing on my radar i finally decided to dive into the backlog and compete the forbearers first. While the gameplay is somewhat dated, being a fairly linear FPS game with some basic stealth elements, its still satisfying to play, and the mix up between human and mutant enemies, and the evolving level design, keeps it somewhat fresh. The overall story is fairly simple to follow but can at times get a bit lost in the sort of mission-to-mission story, but the world building and characters make up for it, with NPC conversations in the background, or what you find on your playthrough adding depth to the story. Will admit some of the characters do all blend into one, as you seemingly get passed from guide to guide on your journey to Polis, but they do all add their own flavour to the universe. In terms of the platinum journey, it is really not difficult at all, you need to complete the game twice on different modes, Spartan and Survival, and get the two different endings to the game, but these aren't so much different difficulties as much as just different experiences, one being your more run of the mill FPS and one more of a survival horror, with ammo being limited, less HUD elements, etc. To an experienced FPS player though its really not a challenge. As for the endings, one is the default and the other is the "good" alternative ending you unlock through doing a series of "good" actions throughout the game, but don't impact your gameplay and are more like a checklist of actions on your journey. Other than the two playthroughs, the trophy list is mostly generic kill x amount of this enemy, get this many kills with this weapon and a few level specific trophies for good measure that are all easy enough to earn. Even the trophy i found the "worst" was only annoying as demons only appear at select points in the game and have an annoying habit of flying away when you fight them. Alas, onto Last Light Redux we go! Edited June 16, 2021 by Cpt-Redding Grammar
Popular Post Gamer-Girl-Noire
#138 Far cry 3 classic edition difficulty I'd say is about overall a 3.5/10 mainly as some of the later missions in the south are absolute terribly designed. it's far cry 3. it was alright for what i paid for it in the sale. some big issues though are driving is like absolutely horrendous though most my deaths came from the fact trying to turn around up a hill sent me backwards into a tree and blew me up. the guns seemigly also are all the vector in fire rate and audio if its an automatic so have fun with recoil on anything not the bushman or the ms16. trophy wise its highly simple aside from the rock throwing one as somehow the stealth ai is so bad. like i've lobbed stones on walls near them trying to get them to turn so i can stealth take downs for that bonus exp but no they won't turn at all but somehow using an rpg to blow up 3 dudes an alarm doesn't make them actually alerted to me in the sense of they open fire they just wander around while i shoot their friends in the face with a sniper on a cliff.
