Popular Post AJ_Radio
Platinum #279: Mafia: Definitive Edition (June 14th, 2021) Difficulty: 6/10 Excitement Rating: 8/10 Estimated Time to Platinum: 15 - 18 Hours Hardest Trophy: Made Man (Completed the game on Classic difficulty) This was the final game for me to wrap up in the series. Despite my frustrations and slow progress on Classic difficulty, I have to say I enjoyed Mafia: Definitive Edition for what it is. It sports good characters, memorable set pieces, good graphics, a 1930s era aesthetic and atmosphere, and classic gangster battles. I always was fascinated with Jewish Mob, American Italian Mafia history. The Sopranos and Boardwalk Empire are two of my favorite drama shows of all time. So when Mafia: Definitive Edition was announced, I wanted to get my hands on it. You play as Tommy Angelo in Lost Heaven, an Italian American who worked as a cab driver. After he is caught in the middle with two mobsters holding him at gunpoint, Tommy is forced to flee from the cops. He soon finds himself working with the Mafia, organized crime working from within the underworld that is rooted in all the cracks and crannies. Rival gangsters threaten to put an end to the Don and everyone beneath him. Tommy works and plays with the Mafia to gain their trust and confidence. The controls are basically what you expect from a standard third person open world game. While the story is quite decent, the gameplay falls quite short of excellence. Gun aiming is an exercise in patience and precision, on Classic difficulty enemies are simply tougher, smarter and more prone to flanking. Checkpoints are generous, but I often found myself repeating sections over and over and over. There are various health boxes that you must run to and heal yourself up. Reloading while there was still ammo left in the gun clip means you lose whatever ammo there was, a mechanic exclusively for Classic difficulty that I found interesting. Car handing is fair to mediocre. Cars simply don't drive all that well. This made the race in Chapter 5 on Classic difficulty easily the most difficult portion of the entire game. I feel this is a problem with a number of games in general, they introduce sections that force you to learn a whole set of gameplay mechanics that you otherwise never get to feel or use. The rubberband AI was utterly annoying in the race, I had to spend over three hours to finally beat it, finishing in first place. The difficulty in Mafia: Definitive Edition is mostly pushing through a bunch of gunfights, using the Uncharted cheap tactic of scoring headshots and kills against the enemy AI while you remain relatively safe behind a wall. I'm sure everyone here knows this tactic if they played third person shooters that came after Uncharted: Drakes Fortune. The collectibles this time around weren't quite as interesting as the Playboy magazines in Mafia 2 and Mafia 3. You're basically collecting a series of vintage magazines scattered all across 1930s era Chicago, which is named Lost Heaven for this game. You also have to find no less than 50 hidden foxes, and unfortunately none of the collectibles are tracked which meant I had to pull up PowerPyx's collectible guides on YouTube to find them all. They only took a few hours, but I wish more lore and meaning were put into them. All in all, I had a good time with this game. The Mafia games are played more for their stories than for their gameplay, and this one is no exception. Normally I'm not that much into story driven games but Mafia: Definitive Edition has a solid story coupled with memorable characters. The conclusion to this game leads right into Mafia 2, which I won't spoil the ending for anyone who hasn't played this yet. Recommended if you enjoy open world games and Mafia related history, but if you're feeling a little doubtful I would either rent this game or wait for the price tag to drop a bit more. The original release had some issues where some figments would either not spawn with their images intact (so they were invisible) or get stuck in walls where they couldn't be collected. Omg, thanks god didn't happen to me something like that but i had two crashes because of the shitty Sony emulation system like always... Platinum Time: 1 day and 19 hours. This is my first platinum trophy i've earned. I really enjoyed the story and choices throughout The Wolf Among Us and it went perfectly well. Yeah well, alot of fuck up fables in Fabletown. There's so much for me to find new dialogues and even I haven't heard any new of them. This is just the beginning guys and believe me I have many games up my sleeve and I could pull em all out but not just yet though. Highly recommended for this game. I now know all the tricks in the book when it comes to seducing women. I urge you to avoid eye contact with me if you ever meet me IRL. Failure to do so might result in marriage and pregnancy! Joking aside Wales Interactive are the kings of FMV's. I have enjoyed every single FMV they've created. Just to bad people got so upset about Gamer Girl that they pulled the plug on the game, it looked awesome. There is no real need for a trophy guide for the majority of trophies, only a few misc trophies that might be hard to figure out yourself. I highly recommend this game. Tons of fun and an easy platinum. You also get to date Björn Ironsides wife Torvi, that's a win-win. Guess they're into swinging and key parties. EverythingOnFire
#23 Hidden Through Time Hidden Expert! Found all Hidden Through Time trophies I played Hidden Through Time solely because I loved the game "Hidden Folks" so much, and this wasn't nearly as enjoyable. You can tell effort was put into it, but it's not even close to being as charming or well-thought-out as the game that inspired it. Still a cute game though, and a fun way to kill a few hours. If you're interested, I recommend waiting for a sale. PS - Unfortunately, Hidden Folks isn't available on Playstation, but you can get it on mobile, PC, Mac, & Nintendo Switch. Check it out if you like games like this. It's perfect.

Popular Post madbuk
#424 - Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition Pretty good game. I've already played this before, this was a stack, so I knew going in that it was a good game. However it took me 2 years to actually get around to it because I had so many other games keeping me busy. Glad to say I've finally gone back and finished this up, and I had a great time doing so, despite some of the side content being rather lackluster (lockbox/camera collection is pretty dull. Same with the evidence bags in the DLC) Definitely an open world game I'd recommend if you like GTA, since this is better in every way compared to GTAV imo. Great story, characters, control, gameplay, mission variety... all around just a really well constructed package. Shame we never got a sequel, but the leaked documents for the sequel didn't look particularly promising anyway, so... oh well.

Popular Post KindaSabbath
Astro's Playroom The first of many on the PlayStation 5! Really cool little game. As someone who played mostly on switch last gen, I had no idea that PlayStation had such a charming little platformer that plays so well. Apparently the VR game is also very good. Hopefully they make more! Mad that it's free with every PlayStation 5, even if it's a little short. The quality is high! Popular Post TheArcadeKid
#217 - Wardogs: Red's Return Fantastic entertainment for one night only. This is a 2.5D beat 'em up in the style of Streets of Rage, and it exceeded all expectations. I believe it's by a Brazilian developer, which doesn't necessarily have a strong presence in the gaming industry yet, so it's thrilling to see how instantly fun and polished this game is. It's very short - although so are most of the beat 'em up classics - and I didn't care for the story (or, frankly, the human-dog aesthetic), but the actual gameplay is very satisfying. The only real drawback of this game is that it's far, far too easy. I played on Hard mode the first time around, and had virtually no difficulties. There's also a pretty obvious way to abuse a powerful special attack (just wait for it to recharge between fights). I'm not going to pretend I wanted a tough-as-nails experience, but this game is so playable that it would have been nice to have spent more time on it before the platinum popped. #218 - Flatland Vol 1 By the very same developers as the other game, but sadly not nearly as polished. This is a simple precision platformer, and it's surely one of the glitchiest 2D games I've played in recent memory, although fortunately I never encountered anything game-breaking (I believe other players would disagree, though). Music stops playing, enemies glitch out, doors won't open and you have to suicide to try again. The game itself is basically a collection of randomly strung-together levels that never really form a cohesive whole. The actual platforming is fun, but whether you're winning or losing, it rarely feels like it's all because of you. Enemies have erratic attack patterns (especially the end-boss, who also gets an entire gameplay mode), it's fairly difficult to be accurate, and a lot of levels just generally come down to trial-and-error instead of actual skill. Getting the platinum does require more than patience or dumb luck, but yeah, it's pretty inconsistent. Still, glad I stuck it out, and glad I earned the plat.

Popular Post eigen-space
Platinum #152 - Final Fantasy VII Remake (PS4) 18.00% Rarity Difficulty - 6/10, Time Spent - ~70 Hours, Enjoyment 6.5/10 Final Fantasy VII was not my favorite Final Fantasy game growing up. Final Fantasy VII Remake is not my favorite Final Fantasy as an adult. But it is OK. My biggest beef with the game is that it feels far too linear. Even when there are optional fetch quests, the world just feels too small. Perhaps in future installments it won't feel so small... I know the slums of Midgar are meant to feel a little cramped. But the story is just super linear, and at times tedious... like taking 10 minutes to platform your way across the rooftops of the Sector 5 Slums before being able to do anything else. Some of the battles were fun; I found that those against humans and using Cloud's counterstance ability made things super fun. Other characters had some pretty fun attacks too, like Barret's Maximum Fury and Tifa's Chi Trap (sorry Aerith... your attacks were kinda boring). They definitely made the characters likeable, though... except maybe for Barret (aside from his interactions with Marlene, that is). The story also felt more fleshed out than it did in the original, so maybe I'll care more about the fate of the planet and the team more than I did when playing the original. We'll see. As far as the trophies go, it's a grab bag of things. Some of them are completionist things, like getting all enemy skills, some of them are battle expertise, like playing on Hard mode, some of them are collectibles, like getting music discs, some of them are for mini-games, like playing darts. It's a pretty well-rounded trophy list IMO and nothing was too bad. Hard mode does take a little bit of getting used to, but it's actually not a monster if you can manage your MP, and the game gives you plenty of ways to do so. I think Jessie might be Best Girl in this game.... and I'm having a hard time deciding if Biggs or Tseng is the best Pretty Boy.... though all the Turks seem like they should be in a boy band.

Still it's done now and not sure what is next, finish off Horizon Zero Dawn's DLC, do the FF7Remake DLC or try and do Titanfall 2 and RE2 like someone suggested.

Popular Post mackenzie129
True Phantom Thief Persona 5 Strikers I swear I'll never look at a Billiken Statue statue the same ever again, While an alright game it pales in comparison to P5 or P5R, a lot of what made Royal and Vanilla good is stripped away, no bonding with the group, no romance, no choice, No freedom*, No real exploration just an on rails rollercoaster from start to finish. With that the game is still enjoyable 7/10 the plat while uncommon 24.22% is somewhat grindy but still fairly easy 4/10. The Yakuza Like a Dragon Reference was probably my most favorite thing (google it.. Popular Post Major_Kiba
#202 Remnant: From the Ashes A fairly easy and straightforward platinum. The most annoying aspect was that I had to reroll Earth like 6 times to get that coin to appear and then a couple rerolls of Rhom to get the other world boss to spawn. But outside of those two instances I came by most of the trophies fairly easily. While I enjoyed the game one thing I have to say is that when this game came out it got compared to the souls games a lot but in my honest opinion the similarities to the souls games are only on a superficial level. So I don't know seeing that when this game came out people were talking about how hard it was I guess I ended up disappointed in how easy it was. I managed to beat like 90% of the bosses on my first attempt and the other 10% on my second attempt. I still enjoyed my time with the game just maybe not as much as I thought I would have.

Popular Post Sardavanua
#186 - Concrete Genie The Artist of Denska Got super excited when Concrete Genie was announced for the monthly PS Plus line-up back in february, because it has been on my watchlist for quite some time. I played through the whole game in one day (something I rarely do). It was such a joy, such a nice and friendly game. The story was not really good though imo, but the visuals and how everything came to life once the player painted it on a wall was really fascinating. I didn't like the taming section, it didn't fit into the game and it kinda ruined the end of the game for me... Also some game mechanics weren't fleshed out at all. The genies were a buggy mess and decorating them was very finicky. Nevertheless I hope there'll be a sequel to this, like seriously that game has so much potential. Give me more different things I can paint and less collectibles and I'm in for a second journey through Denska!
