Popular Post MrGarland
Platinum #117 Code Vein Difficulty: 4/10 Enjoyment: 8/10 Code Vein or "Anime Souls", as some people might call it, is a game I never heard of before it was released. After that, it came to my attention, but I ignored it. Probably because of my experiences with Bloodborne (which you can read in below). However, when I heard it had anime elements, I decided to buy it and give it a try. Even though they're very limited when it comes to those elements, it still was worth it. Before I go any further, a few words about my experiences in Bloodborne. Since I've never talked about it before, I'll give a short story about it. I planned to buy Dark Souls when it first came out, but left it unbought for some reason. Several years later, I decided to buy Bloodborne, even though I knew it was going to be hard. That said, I'm glad I tried it. Even though I had both easy and hard times with the game every now and then, it was a worthy journey. If you have played SoulsBorne games before, you know what to expect from this since the gameplay is pretty much the same. However, the most noteworthy difference is that you are not traveling alone. Instead, you have a partner with you and they actually do their job well enough. Not only that, but you can also switch your partner if you wish. In my case, my traveling companion was Mia, but not the one you recruit later. Instead, her alternate version which can be obtained through DLC. You can recruit her after you visit the home base for the first time. I also might as well say that she looks better in white (DLC) than she does in black (regular). So, how was my journey in this game? To say the least, it was pretty good. I ended up mastering most of the Gifts, but the last few ones I couldn't do because my level was too high (around level 242). No matter what I did, I couldn't get them done. The only way to master them is to spend materials to max out the proficiency, but the materials needed are rare and I would have to grind for hours to max the remaining ones. Oh well, I'm happy that I got most of them done. I also learned some of them obtained from the DLC depths, though they don't need to be mastered. While the difficulty isn't on the same level as it's on the SoulsBorne games, that doesn't mean it's exactly easy. There were many times where I made the most common mistake I tend to make: never underestimate your opponent, no matter what. Be it on low health or an easy opponent. I lost a couple of times because of this. Once you learn their pattern, you can pretty much predict their attacks. That's one of the key things to keep in mind if you're planning to platinum this game. If there's anything negative I have to say about this, I've listed all of that below. - Mark of Honor grind: You saw this coming. Honestly, I think they went too far with this one. 300 would've been enough. As for the grind itself, it's boring, but if you do it with a friend, it's not too bad. For one thing, you can watch/listen to something while playing which makes it more bearable. I've already thanked the person who helped me (and vice-versa) getting the trophy when I got it. I also tried the solo method, but it didn't work for me. I didn't get past the 3rd floor. Even with good equipment, I was overwhelmed by the enemy. So in case you plan to get that trophy, do it with a friend. It's much faster and more enjoyable. - Enemy waves (can't remember what they're called exactly): First time introduced in that cathedral, you'll be swarmed by the large enemy group shortly after setting foot in here. This also happens in several other locations, but I'd say the first one was the worst. Even though I only needed a few tries, it was a pain. The random reward you get doesn't really make much up for it. What makes this so annoying is the sheer number of enemies and most of them hit hard. The first time it happened, it was kind of depressing since I lost a few times. Because that spot happens to be on the path you have to take if you want to advance, you have to endure it since there's no way to avoid it. No matter how carefully you sneak past it, it will happen. It also doesn't matter how far you run, they will chase you. However, if you reach the mistle, then they will disappear, but you still have to defeat them from the beginning. - Pausing during cutscenes is not possible: In case you want to start making coffee or something, you can't. I understand you can't pause during gameplay, but why not during cutscenes? I only mention this, because I had that happen at least once and I wanted to take a break, but had to watch a long cutscene. A minor complaint, but still. - DLC: Need I even say anything about this? Three new depths and that's it? Honestly, I expected something new after watching the best ending, but no. As for the DLCs, there's not much to say. It only offers new Blood Codes and Gifts, but that's it. No new enemies, other than bosses. Speaking of bosses, I tried beating the Frozen Empress, but lost after making it halfway. I didn't try beating the other two. And now for the main thing. Since I've already talked about some of these things before, I don't want to repeat myself too much so I'm only going to pick the following things listed below. Locations: Spoiler Howling Pit: Not bad, but somewhat annoying area to get through. I'm fine with the water, but what I really hate are the pits. If you don't pull the switches to lower the water, you're going to have a hard time avoiding them. Even if you do that, there's enemies near them and getting knocked back most likely results in death. At least you can do the same to them. Play it safe, and you'll make it. Thankfully, it's much easier to get through on subsequent playthroughs, assuming that you have explored the map 100%. Cathedral of the Sacred Blood: You know what I'm going to say about this place, right? I admit the place looks brilliant, but I'm really not fond of the overall design. It's filled with lots of dead ends and multiple paths. The first time I explored this area, I must've spent at least 3-4 hours before I reached the boss of the area (Successor of the Ribcage). On my subsequent playthroughs, I sticked to walkthrough videos, in order to avoid wasting too much time. Thankfully, it only takes 15 minutes to reach the said boss if you use a video. I'm also going to give those female knights a finger. Not only do they hit hard, but they can also teleport right behind you. That long path before you reach the midway boss (Argent Wolf Berserker) was a major pain in the ass. Just because the distance between the mistle and the boss is ridiculously long. City of Falling Flame: Easily the most annoying area of the game. Anywhere you go, you have to walk through a lava which saps your health and I honestly doubt that anyone can make it through without taking damage. Also, if you get knocked by the enemy when fighting near the lava pillars, there's a good chance that you'll also be knocked by those which take more of your health away. At least the boss was easy enough, which I beat on my first try. Crown of Sand: We had an area that drains your health, so why not make another one? Only this time, your ichor gets drained every time you step on the sand. Thankfully, it's much easier than City of Falling Flame. Also, call me weird, but I found something amusing in this area. There's a part where you're ascending a hill. On top of it, is an enemy that keeps launching balls made of sand. If you stand on the sides the correct way, Mia will keep dodging them infinitely while making a "hep, hup" sound. Yeah, it's stupid, but I find it funny for some reason. Bosses: Spoiler Invading Executioner: I managed to beat the first few bosses pretty easily, but then comes this, which was the first tough one. Mainly because of her attacks that have a long reach, as well as that bubble attack which inflicts slow if you get hit. In total, I needed an hour worth of tries. For some reason, the boss never used the latter one during my successful run. It could be because I was right next to her most of the time or I just got incredibly lucky. Who knows. Blade Bearer and Cannoneer: I've already talked about how tough this battle is, but little did I know this wouldn't be the only time I'd face these two again. What do I mean? If you explore Silent White depths map fully, you'll encounter these two again as the final boss of that depth. As you can guess, they're tougher, but there's also a catch. When one of them falls, the other one absorbs the fallen comrade's power. In this case, the Blade Bearer fell first and Cannoneer gained her ice powers. This made the remaining battle much harder. You're also not healed when that phase starts, so this battle is pretty much of an endurance round. The first time I made it to that phase, I died and had to do the entire battle all over again. After losing a few times, I decided to give up and come back later. After learning and mastering a bunch of Gifts (including the one that increases resistance against ice), I decided to come back and try again. Though the battle was far from perfect, I still managed to defeat both of them on my first try. And yes, I'm aware of that you don't have to explore all the depths to the fullest, but I decided to do it anyway. It's in my nature. Juzo Mido: The guy who Yakumo and Jack have a score to settle with is directly after the previous one. He's easier, but that's not saying much. On 2/3 of my playthroughs, he managed to one shot me, even when I had my health almost full and that's only because I got reckless when he was close to death. The Virgin Born: The true final boss of the game, but man, does it have a name. Anyway, I've mentioned earlier that I found this harder than Skull King. If you can predict his moves, he's not a problem. This guy, on the other hand, is much more annoying to deal with. Especially his meteorite attack (or whatever it's supposed to be) which is something I simply can't avoid. Luckily, he's not too hard to beat. Also, should you die in this battle, you only have to fight this form instead of both of them. The last thing I have to mention before I'll end this post is the Collector's Edition of this game which I own. Since I bought the game shortly after it was released, all the shops that sold the CE on a fair price were all sold out and I had to buy it from a local game store. The problem with that was the price which was way too high. About 200€. To make things even more terrible, the Xbox One version costs about 150€. Why sell the same game at different prices? There's really no difference. Also, they're still selling them, though they only have one of them each. As for the contents, the statue of Mia is pretty cool, but the digital artbook isn't my style. I prefer the physical one over digital. I also bought the Limited Edition which I didn't even know about until I saw one. The reason I bought that? Steelbook. I collect them and I just had to get it since the Collector's Edition didn't have one. At least I got it cheap. To wrap this post, I'll end it with a couple of screenshots as well as with a song. Spoiler The one for Queen's Knight Reborn is my favorite. I like how Mia is looking away. It's as if she doesn't give a damn about my victory lol. And yes, that was my character for the entire journey. Since I'm not very good when it comes to designing the character, I kept the appearance as basic as possible. It also resembles me a bit. Is this what I look like in real life? Maybe. Maybe not. I'll leave it for you to decide. I'll conclude this post with a song. No, it's not the same one I used already as it doesn't fit for this. Instead, it's something different. Something that actually goes quite well this one. You'll see what I mean. "And once you've beaten the game in the wee hours of the morning and watch the castle crumble, you reflect on all that time you just spent. The credits sequence shows little replays from each level. It's like watching old memories. And that's what the Castlevania games are for me. Memories that will last forever." That quote pretty much sums it up and that's exactly how I feel about this game. Despite a few minor flaws, it was a good experience regardless. I'll let the song do the rest. The part from 0:50 onward is my favorite. It gets me every time. Next project: While not final, I'm considering to start Spoiler Edited August 10, 2022 by MrGarland
Popular Post Neef-GT5
#33 – Concrete Genie Difficulty – 3/10 Enjoyment – 6.5/10 Time elapsed – 10+ hours I had had Concrete Genie in my why-not-play-it-someday list for a while; I hence jumped on it when it came as a PS Plus monthly offer, and it was quite worth the time spent on it – in a few words, a quite decent feel-good piece of gaming. This game is sure quite short and really easy to go through. Some collectible-related trophies may prove to be a bit tricky to get without a guide, but most will come naturally as you progress through the main adventure and as the map is not overly extended, all in all this one is a really accessible plat. I’ll give a special mention to the devs for implementing the few VR-related trophies as a DLC-added list, so not being equipped with a VR helmet won’t stop you from platting the game. Gameplay is quite simple but well thought and using the various painting features come in handy quite naturally, and the games allows to use it in many places – not only where needed in the main story. As mentioned above the map is fairly small and “compartmented” in several areas that become accessible along the adventure, with a very straightforward progression. Not much to say from a technical standpoint, which is simply OK: nothing shocking there, but nothing awesome either. Same goes for the plot, really basic and classic. That being said, I spent an enjoyable time on this game – that’s all I was asking for ? Edited September 12, 2021 by Neef-GT5 Typo

As good as Lacrimosa overall (I need to go back to and plat it as well sometime... I'm 8 away from that one). One thing I liked in this trophy list is that you don't have to collect one of every single item in the game. The 1M gold trophy isn't really too grindy if you get the right items when going for it (the sacramental for boosting rare item drop rate, and the one for 20% more gold). I did a hard mode run first for all the other trophies and ultimate gear, then a Nightmare NGP to save time. I'll probably try a N3 playthrough (Nightmare No NGP) later just for fun.

Popular Post MakotoKaCun
Platinum # 101 God of War Father and Son finally got the platinum for God of War PS4. The story of the game is pretty interesting. It was fun seeing how God of war involve. Also they realeased the latest trailer for God of War Ragnarok make me feel really excited. Ever though i haven't got my hand on a PS5, but hopefully soon. Anyway the overall gameplay is pretty good. Just at the beginning still feel abit weird to attack with R1 & R2, since the old game use & . But this is not much a issue. The issue i have is just there is not much mystic gate to fast travel. Making back tracking to some place will take awhile. This is the only thing that hopefully they will fix in the PS5 one. But the overall stuff that you can do in the game is really great. So give it a try before Ragnarok release. Surely it is still a great game to play
Popular Post PondNewt
I got the platinum for Ratchet and Clank earlier today. I'd never played a game from this series before but after now doing so I can see why it's popular. It was fairly easy with the only really annoying trophy being the one for beating the first hoverboard gold cup race within 1.35. I thought that was actually quite hard and frustrating but I eventually got it done with a lot of persistence. Hopefully this little bit of experience with the series stands me in good stead to begin Rift Apart which I've had on ice for a month or two.
Isle-of-Miku
"What does it all mean?" Manifold Garden The first half of the game was amazing, the second half draged on a bit, the secret ending route drained the very essence of fun out of me with how extra lenghty and extra convoluted it was. Overall a cool game but don't try the secret ending without a guide or you will be doing that for a few decades.
Popular Post AsheRebel
Platinum #136 (AFTER HIDING ALL CRAP PLATS) Personal Difficulty: 2/10 Personal Time: 14 hours Personal Enjoyment: 9/10 I have never played a ratchet and clank game before properly so I can't compare it to other games from the series but by itself it was an amazing game. Looks great, has a decent story and game play is fun with a nice variety of weapons amd traversal mechanics. I did face issues at times where the camera was in a bad position and I couldn't move after cut scenes but reloading checkpoint fixed that. The save file copy feature is broken and the spybot you get for collecting all 60 zurpstones for Trudi in Sargasso glitched on me so I had to reload the save file from before beating the final mission, redo final mission, collect all 60 zurpstones and other spybots again and buy RYNO in one sitting just to be safe then start New game+ to get weapon trophy then go back to other save file where I had more progress on other leftover trophies. I recommend everyone to play it though but maybe wait for a better sale as it's not worth $70 TL;DR: A very fun and good looking game but not a glitch free experience I expect from insomniac games. Will defo recommend it! Edited September 13, 2021 by AsheRebel

Popular Post Redgrave
#219: Neptune's Spatula - SpongeBob Squarepants: Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated I played the original on PS2 when it came out though I'm fairly sure I never beat it for whatever reason. Probably because my dumb child mind couldn't figure out the puzzles or where to go, as opposed to my adult mind that just looks up videos or walkthroughs on where to go or if I spend more than five minutes on a puzzle... But yeah, this was a welcome and well made remake that I'm glad that they decided to do. It was just nice playing a SpongeBob game since SpongeBob is one of those things that I grew up with so it was a pretty easy going and enjoyable experience with a bit of nostalgia mixed in. They did add some extra touches by putting memes in (a picture of Handsome Squidward, or one of SpongeBob's idle animations being the mocking meme for example) but since they were memes from the show itself and they weren't in your face and obnoxious about it I didn't mind them and I got a laugh seeing the idle animation. Overall a nice and (I might be misusing the word) wholesome experience that I don't think I would mind if they wanted to make a sequel from it after all this time. If they do I hope they actually get Clancy Brown as Mr. Krabs since it was kind of weird hearing the stand-in they used for this game since I guess they couldn't get Clancy in the game at all ?
