Popular Post StraightVege
Devout #279 7th Fastest Achiever (6 hours, 39 minutes) The latest work by the small team at Bombservice, creators of the quite good Momodora series. While diverging a fair bit from those, Minoria could be considered a spiritual sequel; it's a dark Metroidvania featuring plenty of hacking and slashing, light Soulslike elements, and cel-shaded 3D character models over hand-painted backgrounds, in lieu of the usual pixel art. Overall, it felt like a step backwards in most aspects, compared to Reverie Under The Moonlight. I was emotionally flat throughout my playthrough, not hating what I was experiencing, yet not wowed by anything, either. In the kingdom of Ramezia, two warring factions are locked in a bloody conflict, called "The Forth Witch War": there's the Sacred Order, a violently oppressive religious organization, and the witches they've condemned as heretical, who intend to complete a ritual which will transform the entire world and its inhabitants into a forest. Apparently, the witches are fed-up with mankind destroying the environment. Dunno about you, but given a choice between being burned at the stake or becoming one with nature, I'd certainly prefer the latter. The game isn't exactly nuanced in its criticism of religion, as nearly every piece of lore you discover describes ghastly stuff the Church has been up to. That's fine, but something slightly less one-sided could've been more interesting. Sister Semilla is the player character, a battle nun tasked with the extermination of all witches, as a member of the Inquisition. A grim mission indeed, and she's no stranger to being harmed by the Church herself, having basically been forced into the job to pay for the "sins" of her murdered family. Ultimately, you'll have to decide whether she fulfills her duty to the Sacred Order, or betrays them. Tough choice, am I right? As Metroidvanias go, it's a pretty straightforward and brief affair—locate every witch boss and slay them. Similar to Souls, you make progress by finding save points (which you'll be sent back to upon death), and opening shortcuts. Along the way, you'Il uncover several new abilities, such as a rising slash that functions as a double jump, and a teleport strike which allows Semilla to cross large gaps. There's also a nice assortment of Incense, equipable items that grant her various offensive spells and passive effects. The main one functions like a healing estus flask, refilled at the save points. One aspect carried over from Momodora are the rewards for defeating bosses without getting hit. They're powerful rare Incense and weapons, but this isn't nearly as important in Minoria. I only bothered to no damage the first boss for the Frigid Incense and related trophy, but had no trouble finishing the game. The leveling system has more of an impact, determining your HP, damage, and defense stats. By the conclusion, I was level 57, having done very little farming, so the difficulty curve seemed okay. On paper, the combat has more depth than in their previous games, but in practice, there's little more to it than mindlessly mashing the attack button and spamming overpowered magic. Semilla can parry, but it was never worth the risk in my estimation; dodge rolling was all I needed, and it's also the fastest method of travel, until you unlock the warp attack in the late game. Enemy variety is sorely lacking, and bosses are sadly sparse, in addition to most of them being samey battles with other human characters. Disappointing, really, considering how creative some fights in RUtM were. Rather uninspired world design, too, consisting mainly of bland corridors with the odd interspersed trap or short platforming section. I'm puzzled as to what happened during development. Reading Minoria's Steam forum, I got a sense that the game's main developer, rdein, feels it was kind of a disaster. Apparently, he has no plans for a sequel, and will be working on one final Momodora title instead. Well, good, says I! I wouldn't call Minoria a bad game by any means, but it was certainly a letdown for this Momo fan. Totally playable, but shallow and forgettable, which I take no pleasure in saying. The Incense were cool, and I like the style of the characters, but not much else stood out.
Popular Post AgentSmiz
Platinum 131 - Bloodborne Got the game shortly after its release back in early 2015. I'd heard good things about it and played it for about 2 weeks in April of that year and then just tapped out. Despite loving the look and the world, something about the gameplay just didn't click for me. However, I could recognise why people who are into these sorts of games rate it highly. Over the years, I tried several times to play through it again and never got further than the first boss. Flash forward to about a week ago and I'm going through this and another trophy tracking site and I notice that all the common trophies I haven't earned are from this game. I'm saving the Guardians of the Galaxy plat to be my 10,000th trophy and Back 4 Blood has left me so disappointed that I thought I'd give Bloodborne another try. Even if I only got one or two trophies, it'll at least get them off the unearned list. The previous data had been lost so it was fresh from the start. For whatever reason, the game hooked me. By actually making use of the summon system this time, I was able to progress through the game quicker than I had before and found it more fun as a result. 2 high level players showing up to help me take on Father Gascoigne after he had previously kicked my ass remains a highlight. I got the weapon I remember thinking was so cool back in the day (Ludwig's Holy Blade) and got 3 trophies I really should have gotten back then as they were right where I was in the game at that point. There was a brief stumbling block when I got to the boss that halted my playthrough last time and I genuinely thought about packing it in...then I read about a chalice dungeon where you can farm blood echoes ridiculously easily and back into it I was! Even with that and another chalice exploit, some of the later bosses proved a challenge but at this point, I was all in. Bit more strategy, luck and exploiting the dungeon and tonight, the journey is over. It's been a long night but finally, this hunter can rest...although I have just seen that the DLC is currently on sale. Took nearly 7 years to get the platinum - I think the 100% can wait a little while longer.

Highly recommend. #140 - Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin Enjoyment: 8.5/10 Difficulty: 5/10 Time: 70+ Hours PSNP Rarity: 17.35% PSN Rarity: 5.7% This is the last souls game for me boys. Guest
Blasting Agent: Ultimate Edition this is a decent shoot em up with platform elements, with great ost. it's quite fun at first playthough, however it gets exhausting on the hard run, where you play a professional fighting character. the level design is simply not in harmony with this character, and you will have some headaches on some levels and bosses. for a ratalaika platinum, this game requires two full runs (2-3 hours per run) i don't see myself doing other regions of that same game. Popular Post Redgrave
#229: Platinum - Uncharted: Drake's Fortune Remastered Uncharted: Drake's Fortune or as I also like to refer it as "That game I never rented at Blockbuster for some reason" back when Blockbuster was a thing. Now the spot where that Blockbuster was is a dry cleaning place. Quite the tragedy if I must say so... Yes, I know I'm quite late to the party but I have finally taken my dive into the Uncharted series since for whatever reason I just didn't think I would enjoy them that much. But after playing the first one that changed pretty quickly since I found it to be pretty fun and I can see why it gets so much praise. It also probably helps that Nathan Drake and Sully are really funny and their banter with each other is great ? But aside from that the gameplay is pretty good despite it being kind of rough in some places. Probably the most notable thing was Nathan would sometimes miss jumps that I feel like he shouldn't have but otherwise I think it holds up pretty well. The base game trophies weren't so bad, just pretty standard "Do X kills with Y" kind of stuff for the most part. Crushing difficulty was kind of annoying at certain times but it wasn't as horrible as I have seen some people make it out to be. If anything it was Brutal that was pretty bad since I think that difficulty gives Veteran in World at War a run for its money. The only way it could have been just as bad if not worse than World at War's Veteran difficulty is if the enemies all spammed grenades on your exact position but they don't do that thankfully. What they do though is have aimbot accuracy to where they can score a headshot from miles away with a pistol because you stuck your head out of cover for a nanosecond. Probably the worst segments were the turret section (since you can't really use cover) and the later combat arenas with the soldiers. I feel like the game eventually took pity on me and made enemies somewhat less accurate to where I could eventually get through them. Otherwise the other DLC trophies were just a couple misc things with a speedrun which wasn't so bad. But yeah, I really enjoyed the game and I'm glad I could give the series a chance now and so I look forward to going through the sequels. Looking back now I feel like had I actually rented it back then I would have probably gotten into the series.

Popular Post SKiL_Clash
Platinum #185 Dark Souls 3. Never imagined I’d actually accomplish this. To platinum Dark Souls 1-3 is a major milestone for my career in gaming and trophy hunting. Always told myself I’d never play a souls game. Only got into it after playing Demon’s Souls remake on PS5. So glad to actually join this genre of games. Haven’t felt so involved in a game series In so long. Can’t wait to move on to Bloodborne. Popular Post Eqill5
#53 - Spec Ops: The Line I’d heard many good things about this 3PS before finally getting around to starting it, and I’m glad those words held up after experiencing it for myself. It’s not your average military shooter storyline. You really have to get further in to the game before the true horror of war starts to unfold and the twists and plot becomes clearer. So if you’ve given up early thinking it’s all “hoorah Delta Ops” I’d encourage you to return and let the story reveal itself! I strongly liked the addition of being able to use your AI buddies for targeting and taking out enemies for you. This was a welcome change than having to do everything yourself and teammates being there for show. Where this ability really comes into its element is in “FUBAR” difficulty, the hardest mode in the game. You can save yourself a lot of headache of being one-shotted by snipers by having your buddies get them for you, along with most other enemies. There are certain sections where you can completely abuse this power, but also a few rare times when they will run into enemy fire like they’re on a suicide mission. Thankfully this isn’t often! FUBAR itself isn’t bad at all, for the most part you can hang right back where the fire fight begins and patiently pick off enemies one by one. They will rarely (if ever) try and flank you, giving you complete situational advantage. There are also decisions to make in the story that can void certain gun fights, making 3 areas easier to clear! I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Spec Ops: The Line, and if you like shooters I’d definitely say give it a shot. Bearing in mind it’s an older title from the PS3 era, the graphics aren’t fantastic and it’s a bit clunky but IMO certainly worth a play through!

Popular Post iXanon
#34 Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Enjoyment: 5/10 Difficulty: 6/10 Time taken: 1 month, 1 day, 6 hours Aside from ProStreet, Hot Pursuit has probably been my least favourite Need for Speed of the X360/PS3 era. It was made slightly more playable through the discovery of handbrake drifting around tight corners, but even this manoeuvre isn't without its flaws. I'll be honest, I was close to smashing my PS3 controller to bits whilst doing one or two of the preview / rapid response time trials, and it's been a while since a game has made me rage to that extent! So I'm glad its over, and my controller lives to fight another day.. Now there's just one more NFS title on the PS3 that I'll be aiming to complete in the future, the first SHIFT.
Popular Post snakebit10
#371 Lego Ninjago the Movie Video game I honestly knew nothing about the Ninjago franchise going into this game. I hadn't played a Lego game since the first part of last year. It has all the classic Lego elements with a few things that are different. one thing thing that was welcomed is not having to get a certain amount of studs in each level to get ultimate, instead had a overall ranking system to work towards with the studs collected. overall I did enjoy it and it had plenty laughs. I think it was kind of short for a Lego game. It took me just a little over 4 days to platinum. All other Lego platinums I have achieved has always taken me over a week to achieve.

Popular Post Moridin83
#176 Donut County #177 Untitled Goose Game #178 Dangerous Golf 3 for 1 update, as I finished all these over the weekend. Donut County is a great little game, nothing difficult, but simple and fun. Untitled Goose Game was another fun plat, although the speedruns can be quite annoying. Dangerous golf is unfortunately not a game I would recommend to anyone. It crashes too much, the gameplay is only ok (way to much "Danger time" (bullet time) required to win, and it really overstays its welcome. Also, I'm really pissed this is now my rarest platinum. Gonna have to plat something rarer just to change that. ?
