Popular Post tak_106
Trophy of Gaia (Platinum #120) The angriest man in video games is back in God of War II. Kratos? No, that would be me, with my reading glasses, hunched over the Vita, restarting the Challenge of the Titans for the umpteenth time for the Bleeding Thumbs trophy. Actually the Challenges weren't that bad, about 3 of the 7 are pretty difficult while the others can be knocked off in less than five restarts. The real problem with this game on the Vita is the glitched trophy system. Some combination of using the home button, syncing trophies, and playing other games while God of War II is open causes the trophy system to glitch out and stop awarding them. Since there is no chapter select, you'd better hope you have an earlier save and PS+ so you can upload the save file, delete the game, reinstall, download the save, and try again. Kinda makes you paranoid that the gods are out to get you. Kinda like Kratos. Apparently this glitch was known from Day 1 and frustratingly was never fixed. There's an archived tweet somewhere from Sony Santa Monica responding to the trophy glitch issue with, "Hey, check out this workaround posted on playstationtrophies." This is a real shame, because the game is great. The fighting system is fairly sophisticated and smooth, the story is compelling, and the scope and scale of the backdrops are stunning. If there was an Academy Award for video game cinematography, this game should have won it, along with the award for musical score. Occasionally things get a little small on the Vita screen, but the adaptation is as good as you could expect. It is tremendous fun to play if you can stop worrying about the trophies and when you might accidentally hit the home button. I think I'll take a break, maybe a long one, before tackling the first God of War (I have the two-game collection on cartridge). Apparently the first has the same trophy glitch problem with a harder set of Challenges. My eyes and thumbs need a break. Enjoyment: 8 of 10 (game), dropping to 6 of 10 (trophy problems) Difficulty: 4.5 of 10

Popular Post Zircon_Lotus
Platinum #116 Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth 2 Rebirth 2 is the sequel to the remake of the first game of the Neptunia series. Is it a better game than the first Rebirth? In this game we have Nepgear, the CPU candidate of Planeptune as the protagonist. She must travel around Gamindustri to enlist the help of its residents and the others CPU candidates to stop the growth of the ASIC, as well as finding a way the rescue the CPUs that are trapped at the Graveyard after losing a battle against a mysterious enemy. Actually calling this game a sequel may not be entirely right. The characters relationship are not the same as in Rebirth, and the events of the first game are never recalled, even the world map is different. While in the first game we have a light-hearted and goofy story, Rebirth 2 seems to attempt a more serious narrative, while keeping some comedy moments. Personally I missed the tone of the first game past chapter 2, that is where there is a tone change. Gameplay-wise the game is essentially the same. Not only they reused all assets, all systems are kept the same. The only noticeable change is that this game use a four party system instead of the three of the previous game. There is also the addition of the Stella minigame, but the only thing this added was an annoying trophy to get, since the rewards for the real game do not matter much. Graphically I felt like this game is a solid improvement to the previous game. And this time it seems to run at stable 30 fps. Adapting to the frequent fps drops of Rebirth was annoying to say the least. The soundtrack just does it job, there is nothing special about it. The platinum takes longer than Rebirth, but I would say it is easier. First of all I must explain a method that almost feel like a cheat, but is not. Making the plans "Destroy Symbol" and "Symbol Attack Gain", as long as you enter a battle via preemptive strike you will automatically win it and get all credits, EXP and items you would get as if you had fought it normally. This works on 99.5% of the enemies. With this and the Super EXP Up from the must-buy DLC getting lvl 99 is a matter of a few minutes. I leveled a level 43 Kei to lvl 99 in Powerlevel Island in less than 5 minutes. Farming credits is also considerably easier. Using the same method just farm Carroteer Leafs in Panan Jungle. They are the objective of a quest that rewards you with an item that can be sold for 1.25M credits. You will need less than 1 hour to reach the amount, much less than the dreadful Clione farming from the previous game. The real grind ends up being making 200 plans, but this is a really tame one. The Delphinus fight was extremely trivial. Using a gear set on a guide I found on another site, using Final Fantasy disc on all members in a party with Nepgear, Neptune, Blanc and Vert I defeated the boss without being hit, using Super EXE Drive and the damage limit breaker plan, while at lvl 99. The annoying part ends up being the Stella dungeon trophy. What was going through the developers minds when creating this minigame? Why make it related to irl hours, and taking so long to clear each dungeon? At least we can turn off our consoles, or it would be a big and fat middle finger to us trophy hunters. I dont even want to imagine the grief had I choosen to not get the DLC. Hyperdimension Neptunia Rebirth 2 almost feels like a reskin of the previous entry. It is not a top of the chain JRPG, but I think the game is entertaining enough. If you liked the previous game you are sure to like the sequel, since the game is almost exactly the same.

Popular Post Slava
#16 - METAL GEAR SOLID 3: SNAKE EATER (PS3) Snake Eaten Depending on the day, I'd say MGS3 is my favourite game in the series. It definitely secures a spot in the top 3 with MGS1 and MGS2. It's also one of my favourite videogame stories in general. Great to have this platinum in my collection. The story MGS2 ended in such a way that Hideo Kojima felt satisfied with. He was ready to leave that storyline forever. But Metal Gear, being such a big franchize that it was, couldn't be abandoned, so the next step for the series was going to be a prequel. This idea gave Kojima a chance to explore a new character and a new setting. It's like the Star Wars Prequles, but good. Similar to what Lucas has done in his movies, Kojima closed the hero story arc and went back in time to start the villain arc. Chronologically, Snake Eater is the first on the Metal Gear timeline. You play as Naked Snake, an agent of the american unit called FOX. You're sent to the secret location in the forests of the Soviet Union to find and extract the engineer of a new weapon prototype. As usual, you have to infiltrate unnoticed. The game is not historically correct, it gets pretty liberal with the use of real historical events and figures, but everything works to the benefit of the plot. The setting is not realistic either, the siberian forests are called "jungle" several times in the game, which they're definitely not. And you won't find fauna like crocodiles there in real life. The game briefly explains it by saying that Russian scientists were conducting environmental experiments there. So why do I like this game's story so much? Once again, Kojima tried to expore a theme in his game. Snake Eater's theme was "Scene". People's views and differences depending on where they come from, borders on the maps as well as our minds, loyalty to your country, the meaning of patriotism and so on - these are the topics Kojima and his co-writers tried to cover. The Cold War setting worked really well for this theme, ad you might have guessed. 1964 saw the peak of tension between the USSR and the USA, and the game uses it to raise the stakes. If Snake fails the mission, the world may end in nuclear fire. Even thought Kojima doesn’t go deep into the topics like the differences between communism and capitalism (I’m actually thankful that he doesn’t), I’d say he explores the theme he picked pretty well. Just like he did with the “Gene” theme in MGS1, he tackles it through personal stories of the characters. You get to meet an engineer who's willing to defect, then you get a juxtaposition with another engineer who can't see himself leaving his motherland behind. You also meet characters who just care about their personal gain. The most important character in the story, without doubt, is The Boss, Snake's mentor. She is very cool. She's the one who asks all the important questions. Do the borders on the map really mean anything? What are you loyal to: your country or your beliefs? What is more important: your mission or your people? These are the things every soldier needs to think about. These questions are always relevant. The narrative is pretty strong. It builds little by little, new information is presented to you through well directed cutscenes and codec calls. You learn about the charaters you meet, about state of the world, and less important stuff like flora and fauna that surrounds you, weapons and gadgets you find, etc. Characters may be deceiving you, in the era of double agents you can't trust anyone. The game gives you hints, and you may see a little bit more if you pay enough attention. So don't forget to call your support team and talk to them about the things you saw. The gameplay This time around, you traverse the forest areas, swamps, mountains. There are not many facilities like labs and hangars, but you'll have to ifiltrate those too. The locations are different from everyting you've explored in the series before: they're bigger and more open. There are fewer walls to hide behind. You'll often find yourself hiding in what has become the staple of the stealth genre - tall grass. The locations are interconnected by pathways, and usually there's more than one. Sometimes they allow you to choose the direction you want to approach the next area from, sometimes you may find an entirely optional location. And of course, once in a while you'll reach an arena where you will fight a boss. The bosses, I thought, were pretty interesting and unique in this game. There are multiple ways and tricks to fight each one. Now is time to mention I've played both versions of the game. The original PS2 one, and the remastered Subsistence. Just like in MGS2, the camera in the original Snake Eater doesn't turn, it floats above you at an angle that limits your view. You either use the first-person view to look around, or stick to walls, tree trunks and other objects to switch the angle and see more. It worked well in the narrow locations of MGS2's tanker and Big Shell, you could often see the entire room. It didn't work well in Snake Eater's forests. The game was tough to play on PS2, especially closer to the end, when enemies would look for you, and that camera angle would not be helpful when you wanted to see where they are. I got caught way too many times. The subsistence version solved this issue with the free-to-rotate camera, which is the norm for 3rd-person games nowadays. You're free to switch between these views at any time, but at no point did I want to go back to the old mode while playing the remaster. The locations weren't the only change, as the game also implements multiple survival elements. Snake spends more time in these invironments, so he has to take care of himself, eat the stuff he finds and heal his wounds. Many people dislike these systems because "you spend time in the boring menus". But I think these systems fit both thematically and gameplay-wise. You'll think twice before trying to go guns blazing, because there's a bigger price for catching bullets. Energy bar is also interesting. Your health will slowly recover by itself, as long as you eat enough food. The camo system is pretty cool too. The type of camo you wear affects your visibility. You can pick the camo which suits your current surroundings the most, or crawl around with a bare chest if you want more challenge. Of course, there's more stuff you can do. You can kill the animals or catch them alive. Killing them allows you to throw the food at your enemies. Rotten food will poison them. But you can also throw living animals like poisonous snakes, spiders and scorpions at enemies, even shoot down beehives on top of them. On top of all that, you have optional conversations with your medic about all types of food you find where Snake asks if they're tasty or not. They were all pretty funny. It wouldn't be a Kojima game if it didn't have jokes. The trophies Snake Eater's platinum is certainly the easiest among the Metal Gear trophy lists. Finding all collectables is what you'll spend most of your time on, should you go for the plat. Not too difficult with a good guide. The only other trophy to keep in mind is Peace Walker which is unlocked for completing a non-lethal playthhrough. So be careful not to poison anyone by mistake or throw a knocked out guy into deep water. The game is pretty lenient when it comes to what counts as a kill, but be sure to pay attention anyway. "I've never played a Metal Gear game, should I start with this one?". MGS is one of those franchizes that gets people arguing about the play order. The more I think about this topic, the closer my answer moves to "Don't worry about it". I believe in people's ability to remember things and build a full picture in their mind. But if the order is important to you, I'd say Snake Eater is a good place to start, maybe even the second best in the series after MGS1. It works well as a self-contiained story. So don't worry, jump in, try it out. It's going to take 20-30 minutes to get used to the controls, but other than that, you'll be fine. Darghel
#128 Flawless Demon (Last Rebellion) Difficulty: Easy but has annoying bits Time to Complete: about 12 hours Recommended: sure it's easy and very short. A guide is recommended for the chain though. Total score: 5/10 I bought this game in 2012 I think, according to my receipt inside, and I never played after beating the first miniboss for some reason. After replaying I kinda realized why but more to that later. The game itself is basically a jrpg with a "body targeting" system where if you attack in a specific order you get a bonus. If you get max bonus of 999 you can pretty much overlevel instantly, which is how I won the game. Problem is that you have no idea which part is the right one and if you had to guess you could take hours, although the pairs are always together so stuff like "left and right hand" will always be together, and always start with left. There were some exception but with a guide it cut the learning time in half. Secondly, the sealing: you know how in jrpgs once you kill an enemy they magically disappear? Not in this game: every time you kill enemies you must seal them. EVERY.SINGLE.TIME. It's like in FFX, where you understand that each time a fiend is killed a summoner must do the passing thing where they can send their souls to the other side...but you don't actually do it after every fight! In here you do this after every fight and if you don't they come back to life and stronger than ever. So not only you need to guess the right combo for more exp points, but also seal enemies at the end of the battle to actually end the battle...yeah it was annoying by the 10 minute mark, which is when I quit. And lastly, the combat is interesting I admit, having 2 characters sharing one hp and mp bar, and having their skills to be used, it's definitely original. The problem begins when you're forced to use Chain Points to do normal attacks, which is also shared, but that's your only way to do normal attacks. They do not recharge like other meters and at the start you're gonna starve for chain points because that's your only way to do damage, and use magic. Yeah, magic requires attacking, with stamps on enemies that allow you to use magic. But they don't recharge your points either..."sigh" at least later on you get to learn a spell that recovers your points, and since mp is easy to restore (you passively regen out of battle if you're Nine, or by absorbing enemies) it becomes a non issue later on. Oh and good luck if enemies spot you: they will NEVER let you go, ever, and until you learn the run magic you'll most likely get caught after running in the middle of enemies trying to escape. Only to have all of them attacking you one by one. There were 2 times where they stopped but other than that, enemies will never give up on you. And escaping is almost impossible too so it's easier to beat them instead. And that's pretty much what's wrong honestly: the story is kinda meh but not bad, it's just the characters that are very uninteresting and don't really mesh well. The artstyle is actually very nice and it was nice to see adult characters for once in a genere usually dominated by annoying teens (really love the style used and I definitely enjoyed seeing the various guest artists, definitely a nice treat). Well to be fair Nine is an annoying adult so he checks out, but I definitely love the design of Aisha. The dubbing is unfortunately english only (at the time it was the norm) and it has some very ups and downs despite some names behind (Wendee Lee, Laura Bailey, Sam Riegel, Richard Epcar to name...probably all of them? I think I missed one?). Honestly I blame the direction and story as they're just uninteresting and kind of complicated to follow and the characters are simply not interesting at all: we're supposed to empathize with the main protagonists but Nine comes out as a brat and Aisha comes out as apathic and too serious. A shame really. And of course the game is short: I'm usually picky when it comes to times in jrpg but, if the game is done well, 20 hours should be at the very least the minimum (South Park stick of truth was short but it had a lot of replayability). This game is barely 10 hours long, has ONE extra content in the name of 8 extra bosses (which are the same and required for the platinum) and that's about it. It's super linear and despite the large areas you get to explore, there isn't much to do. I know that around the ps3 era they ditched the open world maps from the ps1 and 2 for super linear gaming and hub world, but they could've at least given us a shop? Or even money? Or npcs to interact other than somethings called Kekins. Urgh! Bottom Line, I actually don't hate this game and I had a good time when it didn't annoy me. I wished it had more stuff to do and maybe didn't force you to fight every enemy and seal them at the end. With some more care it would've been a little gem. As it is, it's just a pebble hidden among the others...maybe it's a little brighter and kind of cute, but uninteresting otherwise. If you're looking for an easy platinum, this game is a good one for that but otherwise you're not losing much. Popular Post Golem25
Platinum #107 - Overcooked! All You Can Eat Legendary Chef - Complete all Trophies 19,568 Owners - 2,733 Achievers for a percentage of 13.97% (average completion; 29.96%) Enjoyment; 7/10 Difficulty; 3/10 Trophies; 8/10 (fun tiles, names, requirements, but -2 for forced online) Multitasking; 10/10 It has been a couple of months since my last PS Plus Platinum due to the slightly dubious range of offerings that have been packaged into the service recently recently, but there's finally another one to add to the cabinet. And it's for a PS5 list to boot, my third on the next-gen console and the first that did not involve ridiculous amounts of auto-popping. It's Overcooked! All You Can Eat! I can probably afford to be pretty succint about this one, considering most will have played one of the Overcooked games or at least had enough exposure to the series to know what's up. A co-operative or competitive party game, up to 4 players take to a kitchen to cook dishes and serve them in time as per the orders that constantly come in. Starting simple with just two ingredients to chop for a salad, things escalate all the way up to four ingredients per dish with steamers, mixers, cookers, and all matter of other fun kitchen appliances (flamethrower!). All You Can Eat packages the two full games and the second game's expansive DLC range into one tight-fitting package, with a Platinum that will take about 12 to 15 hours plus the help of three online pals / a second controller. The Plat being unachievable without outside help or splurging on a second controller ticked me off something fierce because I hate having to play online and/or wasting money, but I still had enough fun with the game regardless - even if the single-player campaigns got a tad grating towards the end. While the core gameplay is great fun, there is only so far you can stretch it ith gimmicks and different recipes. Mixing is essentially the same thing as using an oven or frying pan; you just wait for the dish to finish, so the 'variety' of ingredients and cooking methods in the latter stages of the game are but a thin veneer to hide that you're still pretty much doing the same thing you did when just starting out. But sometimes, that's alright. If your core gameplay loop is solid enough, you can get away with things like this. I will say that a third Overcooked game is probably not needed at this rate, unless the recipe (hah!) is significantly changed around - at the risk of losing what made these games so good. As it stands though, if you've added the game to your library while waiting to finally buy a PS5, I'd encourage you to have this be one of the first games you download. Off I go now, one last Platinum to unlock this year.

You have to destroy the two guns that are positioned left and right of the Architect and slowly dwindle its health down. There are three phases, with the second being the hardest in my opinion. Lots of dodging and dashing here, so beating this boss takes a lot of practice. But those who beat the Architect on Veteran are more than capable of earning the platinum. Supreme AI isn’t nearly as bad, though the hardest boss is actually Nex Machina, thankfully it is completely optional.

Popular Post Undead Wolf
#391 - Oreshika: Tainted Bloodlines Clean Sweep Earn all the trophies. This plat's been 5 months in the making, with me only talking a couple of short breaks from the game here and there. I picked a good time to play it since I got done just before the online servers are getting taken down later this month. You can still plat it offline, but being able to access other people's characters and areas make it easier. I'm just glad I got to experience the game in the way it was intended by the developers. As for the game itself, I was really impressed with it. I can't help but feel that this is a gem often overlooked when the best Vita games are discussed. One of the best JRPGs on the handheld for sure. The first thing I found striking is its art style. It really is beautiful in the same way as Okami. Combat is turn-based, but what really separates this game from all the other JRPGs is that instead of there being a fixed party, you're in control of a whole clan and are tasked with building up its strength in future generations. Your clan is cursed, making it so members of the clan only live around 2 years. I actually really liked the time management part of this game, and I found myself genuinely getting attached to some of the some of the clan members since you're with them their whole lives, and their the impact of their deaths is accentuated when it scrolls through a list of all the achievements in their life time along with some words they say on their death bed. Only thing you can do then is continue on with their children. It's a super cool concept. As for the trophies, there's a fairly large grind after completing the main story. It feels longer than it would in other JRPGs simply because you can't afford to turn your brain off and mindlessly grind. You still need to make the right decisions to keep up the strength of your clan, and obviously there's the fact that you're constantly on a timer when in the dungeons. The trophy that takes the most amount of time and effort essentially tasks you with finding all of the various Gods in the dungeons (boss fights), and fighting them 3 times each. There's a lot of them too. You need to farm a lot of money and kill 10,000 enemies too which also takes a while. It's the kind of game you chip away at bit by bit. Really enjoyed my time with it overall. #392 - Onee Chanbara Origin CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Acquired all other Trophies Bikini babes with samurai swords. What's not to love about this game? ? The combat in this one is actually really good. It's so satisfying to pull off a parry, or dodge an attack at the last second. Most of the enemies are zombies who dismember in gratifying ways, but there are also plenty of special types that require more thought/a different strategy. Plenty of boss fights too which were a nice challenge on my first playthrough which I played on Hard. Story wasn't anything amazing, but the (hot) characters more than make up for it. ? The trophies were pretty easy. Once you beat the game and get access to some of the better rings, you can make the higher difficulties rather trivial. It doesn't take long to speed through them on subsequent playthroughs. Even the no damage trophies on some of the bosses in the game's wave survival mode is pretty simple with the right setup/preparation. There's a light grind to get some of the other trophies, but nothing to write home about. This was a blast from start to finish. I highly recommend it to the cultured individuals out there.
Popular Post SIick_50_
Plat #78 - Doom Eternal What can I say… this is one of the best single player shooters to ever exist. The story is extremely deep and engaging and the combat is nothing short of a masterpiece. It makes you feel insanely powerful but the enemies and levels keep you in check. One HELL of a game. Would recommend to everyone!
