It's a fun short game that can be done in one playthrough if you make sure to pick all Satyus(the first character you meet) bond raising dialogue options(at least the ones that comes before the "Gender bender Event")

The reason I'm posting this plat is just to let people know this game, since the sum of NA and EU plat achievers barely reach 70.

 

Welcome to Inkland, a totally hand-drawn world with ink on white paper. Nice people (and too many cats) will greet you, until a strange tower fell from the sky and you have to explore it.

Drawngeon is a First Person old-school RPG, you can move your character in grid-based random dungeons/caves/etc. and you fight in real time. 

I'm maybe more of a JRPG person, but I played this with a friend and he told me this style reminds him of Ultima games.

 

There are 3 classes: Warrior, Wizard and Trickster, each one with a different style to survive in these ink dungeons. When you gain a level, you have a point you can spend to get or update your unique skills to customize your character.

Other than the cool graphics of this game, what stands out is (when you unlock the skill, of course) you can EAT EVERYTHING to heal yourself and/or even raise your stats up.
Your inventory is full and you don't know what to do with that legendary beard? EAT IT!

 

You can go to the tower or do some sub quest to raise your stats and get items and weapons in change. It is fairly short as an adventure, but rewarding if you take your time exploring every square this game has to offer. I suggest to play it blindly, at least your first game.

Trophy conditions are actually very easy, if you know well the class you have chosen and the mechanics of this adventure. Just be careful that, once you die, that's it.

Maybe a couple of trophies require a little luck, but nothing terrible like getting these Sun Medals in Dark Souls 2.

I like Forbidden West a bit more than Zero Dawn. Aloy and the general plot are more captivating,

the new machines are fantastic and the visuals are mind-blowing. I still wish it was less sanitized,

had a little bit more blood and more multidimensional characters. It still lacks a "soul" to me.

games of all times. I love almost everything about it and this time I felt less annoyed by

I was quite enamored with Atelier Escha & Logy so getting all trophies pretty much just happened while playing. 
I wish stick drift wouldn't have happened while playing too.

So the platinum is called Julius Ceasar for some reason. This game has absolutely nothing to do with Julius Ceasar, like I can’t even think of a far-fetched connection to make. Oh well.

 

Welcome to the shittiest Assassins Creed game up to that point. It came out for the PS Vita and was later remastered for the PS4. The only way you can get this game is by buying AC3 Remastered for the PS4. Whhhyyy… Oh well, it was on sale a short while ago so I finally managed to play it. And for a remake of a PS Vita title it’s surprisingly impressive how the game managed to crash my PS5 at least 3 times within my first few hours of playing . Games like Horizon Forbidden West work just fine, but this piece of crap had trouble letting me play for more than an hour.

 

Off to a great start already. So how is the rest of the game. Well, very bland. I didn’t understand anything about the story. The characters are cookie cutter and some very important details of the story are just shown in text between the chapters. We don’t get to see Aveline’s distrust of Agate grow, we are simply told that it is happening. Great. The voice acting is also atrocious. It’s the worst I’ve heard in a game in a looooong time . The side characters sound like they just picked someone off the streets and paid them a few dollars to say some lines and even the main characters sound terrible. I found it hard to connect with Aveline when she just sounds bored most of the time.

 

The gameplay is typical Assassins Creed. I like the idea of having different persona’s that you can play as, and it makes a hell of a lot more sense that you can remain incognito by switching between them. But when playing, I mostly just used the Slave persona and only changed when a mission required me to. The economy is absolutely broken with the shipping goods minigame. If you buy a lot of ships quickly you’ll have enough money to buy everything in the game before you are halfway through the missions.

 

The setting is dull. The swamp was a fun idea and I like how they utilize the travel over the treetops from Assassins Creed 3. But using a canoe feels completely useless because for some reason there are constant obstacles in the water which means you have to walk the rest of the way . When playing this game I just scratched my head at a large number of the decisions they made. It’s not just lazy writing. It’s bad game design.

 

In all honesty, this game doesn’t have many positives for me. The story and characters are bad and forgettable and the gameplay is your basic Assassins Creed gameplay with no innovation. It is positive that the requirements for the 100% synch are all really easy. You’ll get most the first time playing a mission, without even really trying to get them. The ending is handled in a bafflingly stupid way though. You have to kill a few random characters to get the real ending. The first time, I got a stupid fake ending. Again I ask. Whhhhyyyyyy? What does this add to the game.

 

 

Even though it’s pretty much all negative, I didn’t really dislike my time with the game. I had a real urge to play this game, like how can have an urge to eat junkfood. You know the food isn’t good, but somehow it does satisfy some strange craving inside of you. Now that it’s over though, I’m glad I can move on to much better games.

#245: Legend - Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

 

Well here's a Platinum that I didn't really think I would get. Not because of difficulty but because when the game came out I felt really underwhelmed by it and I just didn't feel like playing after the first 10 or so hours. A couple years later I tried playing again and it still didn't really click with me. It also didn't help that I knew what the ending was and I felt like it wasn't really worth playing for the ending and what was essentially an unfinished game because of the Chapter 51 stuff that got cut out. I also had my issue with the open world where it felt barren with nothing much to do other than go to outposts and take resources, not too unlike a Ubisoft title but in those you get to capture them and they give you bonuses and do affect the game in some way. So that along with the repetitive Side-Ops I just couldn't bring myself to really love it like everyone else seemed to. But like the saying goes, the third time is the charm right?

 

Turns out yes it can be the charm. After all I'm posting that I have the Platinum ? But yes this time I think it helped that I just kind of pushed on and I think another thing that helped was all the upgrades you could make at Mother Base which helped to at least look forward to working towards something that would make the missions easier. I also used some mechanics that I didn't really know about at first like taking out the anti-air radars that can make landing zones for the helicopter and you can disable communications by destroying the comms equipment. I think a lot of me not liking playing it initially was not understanding a lot of the mechanics so once I actually picked up on it I wound up having an easier time playing it and getting into it.

 

When it came to the story I think I warmed up to it a bit better this time though I still wish a lot of it wasn't either cut out or on the tapes. I'm still kind of mixed on the ending but I think overall I'm more positive about it now. Probably the best character was Miller because he's basically just pissed off throughout the whole thing. ? Along with the story I feel like there was a lot of gameplay elements that were cut out or not implemented. In Ground Zeroes there is mission variety where each mission has something different such as eliminating AA guns or a turret section where you're flying in the helicopter. In MGSV the only levels that have some variety like that are early on but afterwords it's mainly just capturing someone or retrieving something and I can only assume that it's because Kojima didn't get to implement everything he wanted because Konami wanted to get him out as soon as possible. There are Side-Ops but most of them are just capturing or retrieving or the same "Eliminate Heavy Infantry/Tank Unit" stuff that gets repeated over a dozen times which is a real shame because I feel like it doesn't take advantage of the setting to what it could have been.

 

For example since the first half takes place in Afghanistan during the Soviet invasion it would have been cool to have unscripted battles between the Soviets and Mujahideen that you can take advantage of by either helping one side or using the fighting to sneak through an area kind of like how MGS4 has those segments early on where two factions are fighting and you can either help one or just go through the area without fighting anyone. But despite that, the parts where some unscripted things happen such as weather changes causing sandstorms that can conveniently help you out can be cool. One of the more notable moments for me was when I was trying to take an Outpost for an emblem they went on alert and outnumbered me but a sandstorm came in which let me pick off the guards and when it came down to the last one they went inside the building looking for me yelling "Where are you hiding!?" where I then charged in and shot him but not before seeing how terrified he looked. It made me think of how the enemies react to Batman in the Arkham games when they get really scared. ?

 

Probably the biggest thing though that wasn't included and I can only assume would have been given enough time that was in Peace Walker was co-op. I feel like this game could have been really fun with a co-op feature put in and added even more tactical options on how to approach missions or outposts. But like a lot of other things in the game it gives a feeling of "What could have been", a sort of PHANTOM PAIN if you will. But with what's there I think I am glad that I gave it a third chance so I think I can appreciate it better. It's been done and said to death but it's a shame with what happened with Kojima and with MGSV it's something of an end of an era with the Metal Gear Solid series and I would rather the series just be put to rest instead of Konami puppeting the corpse with more pachislot games or a zombie survival game no one asked for. And even if they intend to do remakes I have doubts about it being faithful or good without Kojima involved, so as painful as it is to say I would rather they just do with MGS like they have been doing with Silent Hill and just release merchandise occasionally.

 

One last thing that's something of a fun fact: The Platinum time it took me to get the Platinum for MGSV was just one week shy of Peace Walker, so had I waited another week I probably could have had the Platinum time for both only a few hours apart. ?
