Popular Post Undead Wolf
#413 - Slay the Spire Eternal One Obtain all other Trophies. I've been playing this on and off for the past 6 months. It's one of those games that never gets boring due to its random nature. No run is the same as another, and that's even more true when you take into consideration the 4 different characters who play completely differently from each other. The main character I ended up using to take me to Ascension 20 was The Silent, but each character is totally viable for that challenge. The shiv build was probably my favourite one when it comes to The Silent because of the devastating damage output, but a poison-focused build was fun to use as well, especially when I got lucky enough to get multiple cards that doubled/tripled an enemy's poison. ? Getting to and beating level 20 Ascension is the hardest part of the trophy list no doubt. There's a lot of luck involved with having a successful run of course, especially on the higher levels of Ascension, but there are so many decisions you have to make over the course of a run which greatly affect you chance of winning, so there's still a lot of strategy and planning involved. It's rare that you're even just handed an insanely good build without having to work for it. You can cheese the game with cloud saves and resetting enemy encounters by quitting to the main menu and reloading, but since the runs are seeded, you can still easily find yourself in an unwinnable situation. There's a trophy for beating the game in under 20 minutes which sounds harder than it actually is. That one mostly is just getting lucky enough to get OP early on and rushing through as quickly as possible. Most of the other trophies just require you to have specific builds with the different characters. I don't know how long exactly it took me to plat/100% this game, but definitely over 100 hours. Even then though, I'm still not bored of this game and will likely do a few runs every now and then. #414 - Aliens: Fireteam Elite Ultimate badass Obtain all Trophies. This game got a lot of shit when it came out and was branded as mediocre by many people. I can't speak to the state of the game at launch, but all I know is that in its current state, it has been one of the best co-op experiences I've had in quite some time, and the new update and DLC coming later this month looks to make that even better. I'm not even an Aliens mega fan or anything. I've watched the first 2 movies and played Alien: Isolation, but that's it. I just think the gameplay is really fun. At first I thought it was kind of strange how this is a 3 player co-op game instead of 4 player, but it makes total sense as you start getting into the higher difficulties because the levels are compact with lots of tight corridors, meaning friendly fire would really start getting out of hand if there were more people. Limiting it to only 3 players also means that each player has an important role to play. A weak link will almost certainly result in a mission failure on Extreme or Insane difficulty, and that's where the game really starts to shine. For most levels, a Recon, Gunner, and Technician work wonders, but some levels you're better off throwing a Medic or Demolisher in there instead. Just being one of those classes isn't enough though because there's a whole in-depth perk system that you really need to min-max to have any hope of beating Insane difficulty. Lots of guns and attachments to choose from as well. And speaking of Insane difficulty, that's what makes this trophy list so tough. It's exactly what it says on the tin. Insane difficulty is unforgiving and brutal. One little mistake can easily result a chain reaction that brings the whole team down due to the amount of damage you take and the short revive timer. You have to be really careful with the friendly fire too because a single shotgun blast at short range will down/kill a healthy teammate. You have to really game this mode by finding the best spots to hold out at, even going so far as stand in a doorway to keep it open, getting a teammate to trigger the enemies, and then backtracking through the level to reach a good chokepoint. It's obviously not intended by the developers, but man, it feels necessary to even have a shot at winning some of these encounters. The elite enemies can be insanely tanky. I want to thank my good buddy @Redgrave for going through this with me. It wouldn't have been nearly as fun without you. ? I've also got to thank the various randoms we came across that taught us some good holdout spots/tricks and helped us get through the levels we were struggling with, sometimes for hours on end. There were a lot of heart-pounding and clutch moments where we only made it by the skin of our teeth, and it was extremely satisfying. Haven't felt that much elation overcoming a challenge in a while. This game has some issues with bugs and random disconnects for sure, but it didn't stop me from enjoying this game as much as I did. I look forward to the DLC out later this month. Hopefully it comes with some new trophies! Edited July 22, 2022 by Undead Wolf

Popular Post Zircon_Lotus
Platinum #122 Hyperdevotion Noire: Goddess Black Heart Hyperdevotion Noire is another side game of the Neptunia franchise. This time we follow Noire on her quest to unite all generals of Gamarket under Lastation's banner to unify all shares of the world. The story is heavely chapter focused. Yeah there is a main plot that drives the main characters actions, but events from previous chapters are rarely mentioned, and the side characters from those chapters rarely appear again. But it is understandable: with almost 20 new faces it is hard to give the spotlight to everyone. It is good enough, at least we get to see the CPUs bickering like always. The gameplay is very different from the main games. This time they chose to make a tactical RPG. I used to play a lot of games like this on the past, so it was excting and even nostalgic to play a game like this. The gameplay is not that deep, but as the chapters progress the dificulty increases, so certain elements of the gameplay start to get even more relevant. I played all my time on normal, and the game lean more to easy than hard. I think they should not have made items to change elemental affinity so easy to get, because it would at least force the player to use all characters more, instead of relying on a party that you feel comfortable with. But the platinum is a nightmare. My final play time was around 80h. Almost half of this was spent on the main game (I've gone out of my way to try and get all weapons and completing side missions that had no purpose for the platinum), and the other half doing the most mindless, brain-dead and boring grind ever. First of all if the time spent grinding is the same as the one playing the main game there is something wrong. Second the grind gets unbearable at some point. And there is nothing much that can be done to decrease this time. Other than that is just paying attention to requests and doing the furniture asap, dont bother saving money. Hyperdevotion Noire is a good Neptunia side game. From all of them this one is the closest to the main games, and the TRPG gameplay was a good choice (the chibi models are really cute). Personally I think they should have made the cast smaller and incentivized the use of all characters. But beware: if you wish to get this platinum be prepared for a really long and tedious grind.
Popular Post Valzentia
#75 - Psychedelica of the Ashen Hawk Difficulty: 1.5/10 Fun: 7/10 The second and last Psychedelica game (and my 75th plat!). Unlike Black Butterfly, this one doesn't have the annoying minigames that sank that game, instead taking the more conventional visual novel approach. It's better off with that, truthfully.

Popular Post Redgrave
#249: Master Assassin - Assassin's Creed: Unity I know this game got a lot of flak for being really buggy on release and I hoped that was all and that it aged fine since then but after playing it I can see that bugs weren't the only issue with the game which sucks because I feel like there is something of a good game underneath it all but it's held back by the core mechanics not being very good. Parkour being the biggest one which is kind of critical to how one might enjoy an Assassin's Creed game. I thought I had misremembered the previous games but I saw a comment on a guide I was using that affirmed that while the previous games didn't have perfect parkour they were at least better than this one so I guess the ball got dropped. I'm sure it's a dead horse at this point but it will make me feel better at least to complain about it. Anyway, the parkour ranges from fidgety at best to outright infuriating at worst. When it's fidgety, Arno tends to jump or grab onto things you don't really mean to but you can still continue on since it was just a minor inconvenience. When it's infuriating, Arno will cling on to dear life at things you don't want him to and you can mash every button on the controller and he just will not co-operate. There were times where Arno will just refuse to jump down what is a safe spot and then other times he will have no issue leaping to his death from a height that will kill him without a second thought. I completely believe this was not intended to be that way but by God I wish they improved on it even in a patch. Combat and just interacting with stuff in general was also kind of wonky because there is something of an input delay and it made combat annoying especially because a lot of times you will wind up getting surrounded by several elite enemies that will occasionally pull out a pistol to shoot you so fights are basically just dropping smoke bombs and hitting enemies repeatedly. The DLC sword that sometimes stuns the enemies surrounding you for a moment made this only slightly bearable. This also made the lockpicking mini-game a chore especially because there are hundreds of chests throughout the game most of which required three attempts. Both of these things also made going for the side-objectives twice as annoying. The requirements weren't as ridiculous as they were in Assassin's Creed 3 but the mechanics being weird made them more of a chore and I had to restart checkpoints for things that weren't really my fault at times. I hate to be so negative towards it, but when the core mechanics that are supposed to make the game playable act up the way they do it makes for a very frustrating experience. I would have gladly accepted texture and graphical glitches if it meant that the parkour and combat worked the way it was intended. Now I'll be fair and say that there are good things about the game that I feel like that if they improved from it in sequels they would have made an ideal Assassin's Creed game. The crowd density stuff was cool and being able to go into most of the buildings made running from enemies feel like you could get away from enemies than just blending into crowds. I still wish they kept things like the Initiate stuff from Brotherhood though since I think that would have made doing missions and whatever else more fun. #250: Ultimate badass - Aliens: Fireteam Elite After the horrible disaster that was Aliens: Colonial Marines I didn't think we would get another Aliens game that was more action oriented but I was surprised to see we were getting another one that was also co-op and man did they deliver on it. I was kind of worried at first because people said it wasn't too great and the campaign was short but despite that latter there was still a lot of replay value that made the game fun to play even while replaying the same levels over and over. I definitely feel like this was something that people slept on or dismissed but it's genuine fun even on the higher difficulties. The different classes are fun to play and making a build for them only adds to the variety of the game. I think the only class that wasn't really great was Phalanx but even that has its use for a couple missions at least. But otherwise it's cool looking at and using all the different weapons from the Aliens setting because they have their distinctive looks and the sounds from the movies which was awesome to listen to while blasting Xenomorphs. The only genuine problem apart from some odd glitches is I feel like the lobby system could have been done better to where you can kick someone and still keep the party going. For some reason they opted to have it where if someone leaves or gets kicked it automatically assigns a bot and starts the countdown forcing the party to disband and try again. This was made annoying when either someone got manually kicked out or the game bugged out and removed them or would just leave for no reason. Otherwise on principle I should hate the game because there are a few levels that are based on Prometheus and reminding me that Prometheus exists and is apart of the Aliens canon causes me great distress but the fun factor was so good that I can look past that which is quite the achievement. ? I also want to thank @Undead Wolf and the other brave Colonial Marine randoms that joined us and fought alongside us teaching us new tricks and showing that the Xenomorphs aren't the only scary thing out there ? As you can tell I highly recommend the game even if you aren't really into the Aliens series.

Elvick_
Platinum #236 Nickelodeon Kart Racers MASTER OF THE TRACKUnlock every trophy. T'was alright. Certainly miles better than that All-Star Brawl. I do think the AI balancing is utter trash though. Hard was all over the place. Especially on the goo. I was lapping these morons on hard in the goo yet in certain [mostly solid ground] tracks they'd be all up on my ass. Most were so easy even on hard, but some just bombarded you like Mario Kart Wii on the last lap in the last turn and you'd end up far behind, if not for the fact you can store up goo for boosts you'd probably get last but can at least make back a few spots. And certain characters are very annoying like Arnold, so I ended up playing him. His special is just too annoying when the AI uses it compared to all other ones. Although it is slower than speed pads on the ground so you gotta time it right, but then you also risk losing the power up so... there's some thinking to be done. I wasn't that impressed by the track layouts, but some of the easter eggs as I was grinding out the remaining coins were cool to see. And I do like the goo aspect a lot. I just wish the customization wasn't a thing, I just find that annoying more than anything personally. Speaking of Arnold and All-Star Brawl, his super (being carried by pigeons) is how his extra jump should've been done. That's why I like this more, it feels like they had more time to do things that were befitting each character instead of having tons of clones. Each character has it's own special item like Mario Kart Double Dash which I've always liked. The Arena maps were trash though, all the same layout from what I could see. I tried like 4 of each mode and they're all the same layout just different skins. :/ Not enough budget to justify that mode imo. Not nearly as bad as the sports mode in ASB though so I'll give tehm that. Just doing 10 matches in all 3 types was tedious. Pretty easy platinum, if a bit tedious given the lengthy 8-track cups. Doing three of those three times over is really annoying. But I guess if difficulty stacked you'd have to do way more grinding for coins and leveling up. I'm glad I picked it up on sale. I got the second to try too. I'm not sure if I'm up for it right away or not, I'll check out the list first. Very lacking in character choice, especially in regards to what properties are included. But hey, it's decent. And had a decent amount of tracks at least.

Moridin83
#224 Journey to the Savage Planet This game was a trip and a half! It looks vibrant and suitably alien, with weird creatures everywhere for you to slap. You don't have to, but why not? Nothing like exploding a grounded bird analogue for some catharsis after a rough day. Your character might need a shower afterwards though. The controls are responsive and handle all the different traversal the game requires without any significant frustration. While the soundtrack wasn't particularly memorable, the audio was serviceable. The humor is off the wall, particularly the commercials that play in your base. Objectives were clearly marked, and the various collectible finders mean you can go mostly guideless without fear of missing things. The DLC is fun, and changes things up just enough to not be stale. The speedrun is trivial, so don't worry on that front. I finished it in under half the allowable time. The only thing I didn't bother with was the old game minus. I enjoyed this game a lot, but I don't feel like running through it 2 more times with limited lives, once at least partly in co-op. If you're either willing to do that, or don't mind getting just the plat and not the 100%, definitely go for this one.

Popular Post StraightVege
Glory of the Immortal Slayer #296 4.09% Ultra Rare 35th Fastest Achiever (5 days, 6 hours) Another day, another Metroidvania with Soulslike elements. At least this life and death drama manages to establish something of its own identity, despite borrowing a great many ideas from the Souls series. It tries some interesting stuff, includes a sizable number of fun and fair boss encounters, and several of the wacky narrative beats were compelling enough to keep me playing just to see what happens next. Disappointingly, it's also let down by severe technical flaws, a bloated story with far too many crammed in elements and cliché platitudes about death, weird tonal swings between grim and whimsical, and an overlong playtime. My interest in talking about this game with any depth has basically been ruined, thanks to losing seven hours of my finite life to corrupted saves. I'm just relieved to be finished with it, really. There's a decent (perhaps even good) action game beneath the issues, but I certainly wouldn't recommend playing Death's Gambit: Afterlife on PS4 until it's fixed. Sadly, that may never happen, since it's caused by the GameMaker engine itself not getting along with this console, according to the developers. Popular Post MidnightDragon
#85 Road 96 In this game, you play as teens heading for the border trying to escape the brutal dictatorship of your country, so the story isn't happy, but still enjoyed it. Along the way, you'll meet characters and learn about their stories and how they tie to the overall arc. You have to reach the titular Road 96 six times and manage your energy and cash along the way. If you fail, your run is over, but it isn't difficult to do. There's also a character you meet who will end your run if you piss him off too much, but again, it's not hard to avoid that. They're all interesting and no journey is exactly the same. Nothing is too difficult. The collectibles are a tad random, but you'll easily get them before you finish your last playthrough. I would recommend.

Popular Post Jelloycat
Platinum #105: ? Stray This is easily some of the most fun I've had with a game in a while. Am I biased because it's a cat game? A bit, but that doesn't take away from how good this game is. It manages to be silly with all the cat parts while also having gorgeous environments and an interesting story that makes you want to keep playing. Like most people have already said, it is a fairly short game, but I think that's fine. Even if it's short it manages to tell an interesting story and be a fun game, which I'd rather have than a long and boring game. The speed run trophy wasn't so bad either, I managed to get it my first time with time to spare. (Even though I died a few times in the Jail chapter lol.) I don't want to put any spoilers, but the ending definitely made me tear up a bit. Such a great game. I might try out the Japanese version as well.
Popular Post JoaLoft
#293 - Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart pits two fan-favorite platforming heroes Ratchet and Clank against Dr. Nefarious one more time. Except: this time it seems Insomniac Games took a page from the Marvel book and jumps on the multiverse bandwagon. Dr. Nefarious obtains an instrument called "The Dimensionator" and blows a hole between dimensions, traveling to a parallel world where he can finally be the ruler of everything... Considering how many times he's been thwarted by the duo in past iterations and is sick of trying to beat them in his own dimension. To his own surprise, he ends up in a dimension where he became Emperor and rules everything. Ratchet and Clank get sucked into the same dimension and have to team up with their counterparts Rivet and Kit in the new world to stop both Dr. Nefarious and Emperor Nefarious. The strength of Ratchet & Clank has always been a mix of Pixar-esque visuals mixed with platforming and outrageous weapon designs. And you get plenty of that here: the game looks beautiful, there are multiple planets to discover (although the explorable areas are very small - and that's a good thing!), some platform sequences deliver great moments such as the rail sections, and the crazy weapon designs can level up and be upgraded for extra firepower with the thousands of bolts you'll collect as you smash crates left and right. A big selling point for the franchise is the lightheartedness. And there certainly is humor present here, The weapon demonstrations by Zurkon Jr. especially put a smile on your face and more. Besides that, something was missing here. There were very little moments for Dr. Nefarious to shine, as he did in A Crack In Time. He practically stole the show in that game, and there was so much more humor in that story. That's one of the reasons why Rift Apart is not as great as the highlight that A Crack In Time was. Another element holding the game back, are the boss fights. The ones featuring Dr. and Emperor Nefarious are great, no question. But most boss fights are big robots from Emperor Nefarious's army. Was there really that little inspiration to design some cool bosses? And not just that: the robot bosses are just glorified elite enemies. Just blast them with everything you got until their health dwindles down to zero and you win. No strategies or weak points. Just shoot until they're down. Disappointing, to be honest. That's not to say the game is bad. Far from it: I had fun with it! And it doesn't outstay its welcome, you can finish the game in 10-15 hours. Technically impressive too: no loading times, and jumping between dimensions or worlds is instantaneous, which shows off the PS5's technical capabilities well. Conclusion? Rift Apart is a solid Ratchet & Clank entry, but it does not knock A Crack in Time off its throne. The enjoyment factor increases if you've played previous Ratchet & Clank games for a better understanding of this game's events. Most frustrating trophy - ... NONE! The platinum trophy of Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is a breeze to acquire. You don't even have to find all the collectibles, which are very scarce to begin with. That's it. I'm used to elaborating much more, but there's not much else to add. Just a nice, easy trophy list.
Popular Post Kefka1986
Platinum #133 - AI The somnium files: Nirvana Initiative Difficulty: 1/10 Enjoyment: 6,5/10 Overall, if you liked the first one, you will like this one too. It's a good game, but I liked the first one better... The feeling of "this could be sooo much better" was a constant through the game. Without spoiling anything big: - This game introduces new characters, some of which are "complex" and have character development through the game, while others don't. And the main problem is that the new protagonist and his helper are in this last category, they don't evolve, they only have the same gag and they repeat it over and over and over... - We have the return of characters from the first game. The problem is that they are worse written than in the first game. Do you know those filler episodes in any anime, when the characters seem like a parody of themselves, exagerating their most relatable traits? That's what happens here. If one of them was a pervert in the first game, now it's a super ultra mega pervert, one of them was very bully, now it's the same, but more, etc. - The music recycles a lot of themes from the first game, but the new tracks are very forgetable. - The dancing and singing. The first game has a few musical moments, this game has A TON, and I don't need and I don't want to listen to the same song 5 times in a few hours... - The climax was a lot better in the first game, this time is was kinda... meh. On the other hand, the story plot - which could be better written - was great, while playing I detected a lot of things that I justified as plot holes, but no, they were all explained in the end and I liked that. Also, the secret ending is SOOOO COOL. Anyway, after watching an entire playthrough of the first game, I decided to buy this game the first day I could. If there is another Somnium Files in the future, I will definitely wait for a sale.
