Popular Post YaManSmevz
Platinum #67: Guacamelee! 2 (+?) Guacamastery What a great game!! Occasionally infuriating but as addicting as the first game was. I'll be real, I got my ass beat quite a lot, but all the new features balance it out pretty nicely. For me personally the difficulty was a solid 6/10, but the actual subjective difficulty is most likely 5? Popular Post Viscera1900
#343 - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge Honorable Sensei "Unlock all the Trophies." Enjoyment: 9/10 Difficulty: 5/10 Completion time: 10 hours / 6 days, 8 hours TMNT III: The Manhattan Project for NES was one of my favorite games that I used to play when I was much younger. It was an absolute blast to play this "arcade beat them up" game; I used to love these kinds of games, because they were perfect couch co-op games with RL friends. Visually it's really colorful game and it reminds me of good old NES games that were huge part of my childhood in addition to Playstation 1 games. Trophy wise it's mostly very easy list to complete, except for beating the final boss without getting hit; it was a nightmarish experience. Despite all that I really enjoyed this game and it revived my interest to play more games from this genre. Popular Post Valzentia
#87 - Saints Row (2022) (PS4) Difficulty: 3/10 Fun: 8/10 A platinum seven years in the making. Pre-ordered the Gold Edition the minute it was announced and unlike some people it didn't disappoint for me at all. I like the new crew, the activities are fun, the criminal ventures are a nice addition to the series, I didn't encounter any major bugs or glitches (just minor graphical stuff), and no, it isn't "woke" (and most of the complainers wouldn't know the meaning of woke if it shot them at point-blank range). I don't know why they expected Saints Row 2.5, because this has clearly been a mix of 2 and The Third since the reveal trailer dropped. Overall, it's a great game; actually my second favorite in the entire series behind Saints Row 2. Oh, and I was also the 10th platinum achiever if the current statistics are anything to go by. Fuckin' A.
Popular Post Bahraini_carguy
Platinum #45 Need for Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered (European Stack) It's literally just a re-release of the 2010 Hot Pursuit with all of the DLC's content (minus 3 cars that were cut unfortunately), slightly better graphics, a very basic livery editor and cross-play. As far as remasters & remakes goes, this is a bit underwhelming. The game however is still a fantastic play if you're into racing games, especially if you play online. Difficulty wise, it wasn't that hard either. Some events are a pain but it wasn't that bad in general.

Popular Post StraightVege
Ripto's Remorse #303 Continued from my previous post here. Much as I fondly remembered it, Ripto's Rage is a more fully fleshed out video game, making the excellent original feel like a proof of concept by contrast. It has everything one could desire in a Spyro sequel, with new mechanics and abilities o' plenty, increased level complexity, actual boss battles (unlike those afterthoughts in Spyro 1), and a fresh cast of characters who have substantially more to say than the comparatively insipid dragons. Not many "Thanks, Spyro. Press X to glide!" comments here, thankfully. What I didn't recall is how twisted the setup is, if you stop to think about it. A group of inept, anthropomorphic animal people from another realm basically abduct Spyro and force him to depose a dictator with a Napoleon complex (the titular Ripto), whom they also brought into their world via a botched experiment to start with. Along the way, Spyro is continually extorted out of his hard-earned gems by the detestable conman, Moneybags, who I suspect might actually be an SCP or eldritch being, considering how he can exist in multiple locations at once to impede our purple hero... but I digress. I'll admit, I never took notice of the game's subtle adult humor when playing the PS1 version ages ago, but it can be pretty amusing. This time, Spyro won't always be able to pick a world clean of its treasures on his initial visit. A bit of backtracking is necessary, because he needs to learn several new tricks from Moneybags (all my homies hate Moneybags) first, such as swimming and climbing, in order to access certain areas. There's also a welcome variety of unique challenges and minigames to take on in each level, which reward Spyro with orbs, one of the main collectibles required to open the gates forward. A number of these were somewhat infamous for their difficulty, like the trolley track in Breeze Harbor, yet I didn't find them too troublesome to overcome all these years later—gaming experience, baby! The flight levels return as well, and while they still aren't my favorite by any stretch of the imagination, at least they seemed significantly less irritating in Ripto's Rage. Furthermore, thanks to the simple addition of an exceedingly useful hover move, the platforming went a lot more smoothly in general, and I rarely died. In the first Spyro, it was common to come up short on a glide, slam headfirst into a wall, and plunge into the abyss. Here, you can often recover nicely onto the target ledge by pressing triangle, similar to a double jump. In any case, not as many instant-death pits exist in Spyro 2, a fact I certainly appreciated. I will mention that the camera while swimming can be horrendous, but this is of little consequence, since you're seldom in any danger underwater. Indeed, Ripto's Rage remains my preferred game thus far. Time to finish up the trilogy by tackling Year of the Dragon, and see how I get along with it nowadays. I do vaguely recollect that it had playable characters other than Spyro, who were somewhat boring to use, but perhaps I'll feel differently this time. Is it just me, or does Spyro sort of resemble a Bubble Eye goldfish in this platinum image? ?

Popular Post Trancexistence
#12 - Until Dawn I loved this 3rd person choice based horror game. It plays similarly to Heavy Rain in terms of it's control scheme and the way you move the characters around. That comparison also applies to the quick time events. The game has quite a few jump scares with many of them catching me off guard. The atmosphere inbetween them is creepy and foreboding and I was constantly on the edge of my seat. The cast of actors Supermassive Games managed to sign up is quite impressive and features the likes of Hayden Panettiere, Rami Malek and Peter Stormare to name but a few. Sam was my favourite character by far and I ended up liking Mike after initially disliking him. The rest of them are a pretty unlikeable and self-centred bunch but that's kind of par for the course in the type of young adult slasher/horror story this game features so no complaints from me. I'm very interested in now checking out The Quarry and the Dark Anthology series from Supermassive after playing this. Dauersack
88 Heroes #64: 88 Heroes Fun little pixel platformer. Has its ups and downs and is a bit too obsessed with the number 88 as a running joke so I am a bit reluctant to call it an indie gem, but it definitely has a rather unique pool of playable characters and a few funny gimmicks, without being too easy or too difficult and with a reasonable trophy list.
Popular Post Valzentia
#88 - Corpse Party: Blood Drive (KR) Difficulty: Debug menu/10 Fun: Are debug menus fun?/10 The Korean stack of this game has a debug menu that pops all the trophies, so I took advantage of it in my quest for 100 plats by the end of the year. I like the plat icon and the game seems interesting, so maybe i'll try the English version (which doesn't have the debug menu so it'll give me an excuse to actually play this).

Popular Post Valzentia
#89 - Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax (NA) Difficulty: 5/10 Fun: 8/10 The presence of Durarara!! characters piqued my interest, so I picked this up and actually got a really solid fighting game out of it. Score and Time Attacks are a pain in the ass to master, but if you just practice nonstop you'll get the hang of it. Tomoka and Selvaria go a long way with those two modes, even though a lot of people recommend Makoto for Time Attack; I found Selvaria to be a tad bit easier for whatever reason. Shizuo was really good though, so even if I had failed to plat this at least I had a good game on my hands

Popular Post Trancexistence
#13 - Concept Destruction Two platinums in two days following on from Until Dawn yesterday. This is basically Destruction Derby but with table top cars made from cardboard. The aforementioned game and it's sequel are two of my favourite PS1 games and this was reasonably priced so obviously it was a must buy. It was fun to play although some additional modes such as actual races would have added some replay value. A few of the arenas are a bit samey looking too. A bit more imagination with the game's trophy list would have been welcome too as the the platinum was a bit too easy to obtain. In the spirit of vehicular destruction, my next platinum is going to be Wreckfest Enjoyment: 8/10 Difficulty: 2/10 Total Game Time: 2 hours
