Before I explained Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart guys. I'll tell you this: I have already bought my PS5 Disc Console and other accessories 2 weeks ago. My first thoughts about the PS5 Disc Console itself it was fantastic and almost perfect. I have also bought a extra crimson red controller but damn I seriously wanted a starlight blue controller and that would of been super badass but I'm fine with a crimson red controller nonetheless. I watch some YouTube videos and they're super smooth and much better refinement quality and 60 FPS or higher. Honestly I wasn't expecting that at all. Now that put a smile on my face. The download time for the PS5 games was super fast and very quick on the taking. I will eventually get a Seagate 530 2TB Gen4 NVMe SSD Heatsink for my PS5 Disc Console and that will unlock it's true potential power. The only downside I'm only concerned with is that Sony needs to update the PS5 Console customized background and soundtrack so that people can stared at their own background customization and listening music at the same time. Then again, they need to add the Internet support just like they did with the PS4 Console versions. I think I need to dig even deeper and do more crunching research so I can get the hanged of it.

 

Now then back to what I was saying about Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart. Man the 1080p at 60 FPS was exactly what I needed to see and smooth gameplay in the making. Seeing things like this and hoo boy I was highly impressed. I have thoroughly enjoyed the game well enough and chewing everything up that I have seen everything immensely. I even played Rift Apart until my hearts content and like I said from before I was highly impressed. Damn I feel really ecstatic and poised ready for my next PS5 platinum marking.

 

Sorry I was a tad off few weeks late due to my personal obligations. The Time Travel was like comparing to Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time with those highly graphics designs that I knew I was right all along. I didn't really wanna flatten down on my PS5 Disc Console just like my PS4 Pro otherwise it could damaged it so I chose to stand it up and it fit perfectly.

 

I never heard of this new character named Rivet. My first thoughts about her and she's similar to Ratchet and Clank. But honestly she's nothing alike those two heroes. Similarity yes but also the opposite sides to it. I guess she is talented after all just like her female robot friend of hers.

 

Sadly I won't be able to upload my PS5 Platinum Screenshot for Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart due to an error after upload screenshot and fuck me I was really angry by that but don't worry guys I will show you the other trophy screenshots in the meantime.

I am very satisfied I have enjoyed what the PS5 Disc Console has to offer right now but I do have hidden unused games that I have up my sleeve and not the easy plats that I have received.

 

Highly and strongly recommend this game!

This was a fun relatively short retro style metroidvania. Not overly complicated, but with enough content that it wasn't just a beeline for the finish. The audio was well done, and the graphics were charmingly old-school. It does however, have a couple of trophies that would be a real pain without a guide. 2 individual trophies require some significant sequence breaking and usage of hidden mechanics, and then there's a full-game speedrun. Thankfully, @coldhardcrash_ has a very good guide up on this site(thanks for wiring that btw!), which makes all 3 of these readily achievable, but trying to do them on your own would be endlessly frustrating. The actual game difficulty is well balanced, but definitely doesn't coddle you, and with only 3 hits, some getting gud is in order. Definitely recommended.

#255: Arisen - Tales of Arise

 

My third Tales game experience. I played the demo thinking it was only okay but playing the main game now I think it's better than it gave on even if it's not a night and day difference. I'm no expert on the series since I have only played Berseria and Vesperia but I guess it is safe to say this one is the more streamlined game and after completing it I can't help but wonder if it went through changes since the fantasy and sci-fi parts feel like they are from two different games. Not really a bad thing to mesh together, but it kind of reminded me of Final Fantasy 8 where there are suddenly futuristic environments and space ships (which I know are shown at the beginning but still) and I feel like there wasn't really much exposition on it. Maybe it's just me though since I normally like it when that kind of setting is fleshed out and explored a bit more. I don't think it really takes away from the game though.

 

The thing that did feel weird to me though and made me assume something changed through development or was rushed were the side-quests. Pretty early in the game you will get side-quests for fighting level 40+ mini-boss enemies that you won't be able to take on for quite a while. I pretty much felt discouraged from doing any of the side-quests until later in the game because I never really knew what level I was actually supposed to do them in (a recommended level next to the quest would have been preferred) and so unless the level was a basic fetch quest I avoided doing any of them until I was at like level 40+. In fact there is one side-quest where you fight a level 40 enemy and then the next part of it has you fight a level 15 one. Like what kind of sense does that make? The only thing I can think of is they were rushed and so they weren't really able to refine the side-quests and couldn't really put in much at all that have variety. I remember Vesperia and Berseria had side-quests that were unique, so that just makes me think they didn't have much time.

 

The combat is kind of like Berseria only there aren't really combos you can do since R1 does your basic attack string while the buttons do Artes. I did like the combat however I and I know others have felt like the bosses especially early on have a difficulty spike and on top of that have high health pools so the fights tend to go on for quite a while. I think it was the third or fourth boss where I just decided I had enough and lowered the difficulty to Story but even then bosses still have a ton of health. The final dungeon is also another case of me thinking something was rushed because the final dungeon is technically two dungeons but the second part is just the first dungeon flipped over. On top of that most of the enemies are damage sponge enemies that just made it feel like a slog going through. I feel like the intent was to take advantage of the fights being really flashy which I can understand but when you fight back to back enemies that take what feels like forever to beat you start kind of feeling burnout. But thankfully that only applies to the final dungeon and outside of the bosses I enjoyed the combat.

 

But like Berseria and Vesperia, Arise has a nice cast of likeable characters for the journey. Apart from Alphen and Shionne I really liked Law and Rinwell (and her owl companion Hootle 😛) and the banter between the party members. I think the only one I would say is the most forgettable is Dohalim but that's just me. The fishing mini-game with Kisara was also fun even if it was simple and come to think of it the fishing was the only mini-game in the game.

 

For the trophies it definitely doesn't ask as much as Vesperia and Berseria did and presumably the rest of the Tales games. There are titles to get but they are pretty simple to get and I think the only thing you really have to go out of your way for is getting to level 100 and making 100 weapons but getting to level 100 is pretty easy when you get the right Artifacts and by the end of the game you should have more than enough materials for 100 weapons and might have to only farm for a couple of them. So yeah there's nothing really crazy to do but I still liked the game. I did play the PS5 version and I might do the PS4 version at some point for an extra Platinum but I'll see.

 

One last thing I'll say is I really liked the vibration. It felt pretty good in some of the cutscenes as well as when you do certain Artes.

Wasn't intending to platinum this, just increase my percentage (and finally beat it). The awful waggle melee combat aside, I actually like the other minigames. Some of the golds were a challenge to get just right or at least stressful. It was fun mostly. The ending of the story reminded me of Rift Apart in a way, and so I consider this canon at least to Ratchet and Clank series. I liked the story bits that were there even if it's more a basic framing device than a story with character motivations, etc. It's just neat to see all three PS2 era mascots interacting and its' kind of a bummer it was in this game and nothing something a little better .While I liked it, obviously the market reach was smaller due to being a PS Move game.

 

Music was good. Controls for the non-melee combat were mostly good, the 3rd person shooter parts could be a bit wonky at times. But then my arm hurts from too much PS Move in the last however many days I've been playing these games. I need a break, but really wanted to try to tackle the hardest trophies in this and get that done and get the platinum since I knew if I could do those harder ones then I could definitely do it.

 

Feels good to mark another game off my backlog and earn another platinum in the process. Carnival Island was a no-go for the plat, way too difficult with wonky ass controls and physics to bother. But this felt pretty good to earn. And this pushed me to level 600.

Took a while. It requires you to liberate the whole map, get a few hundred collectibles and get 5 stars on every challenge, which there are 112 of. Was fun besides a few of the wingsuit challenges, which were annoying due to the very strict point requirement.

I went into this game having no expectations to Platinum it, but it kind of took over my life after beating the game on Journeyman. The Wikia had excellent guides on how to overcome the Master difficulty and get a good team based on speed and interrupting. Getting the trophies came naturally while playing through each campaign and hunting down the Scourges as they popped up. I did grind for 50 Stone Statues by restarting in Gold Rush mode because I wanted the extra Focus for my party in Master difficulty.
