Popular Post Undead Wolf
#421 - Way of the Samurai 4 Platinum Trophy Acquired all trophies. This was quite the undertaking. It took me about 140 hours in total to get this platinum, but I could have definitely been more efficient with my time. This game is very open and you can pretty much tackle the trophies in whatever order you want. The trick comes by combining as many tasks/grinds together as you can. If I went for the plat again knowing everything I do now, I could probably shave off like 40 hours, but whatever. I don't mind spending so much time with a game as great as this one. I assume most people aren't familiar with this game, so as a brief synopsis, it's kind of like a "choose your own adventure" style game set during the period of time where Japan ended its isolationism and had just started opening up to foreigners. There are 3 major factions in the game: the Disciples of Prajna (anti-foreigner nationalists), the Magistrates (AKA the government forces), and the foreigners from the British Empire. You can side with all 3 of these factions or none at all based on your choices to get a total of 10 different endings. So as you can tell, it's a game that lends itself to many playthroughs to see all the different events and cutscenes. Any progress you make in one playthrough is transferred to the next which is nice. As the name of the game suggests, you play as a samurai. There are over 100 different weapons in the game. Mostly swords, but you can also use stuff like spears and even guns. The real variety in how you play come from the styles though. You mostly acquire these from other enemies, and each one has a bunch of unique moves to learn. This is where one of the biggest grinds in the game is, but I'll get onto that later. The point is that this game gives you very little guidance and you're free to do whatever you want which I appreciate. It's also a game that doesn't take itself super seriously, and that's perhaps best shown with the game's infamous torture scenes. That and the "night crawling" minigame. There are a lot of grindy trophies that make up this list. For example, the night crawling minigame mentioned above has to be done 100 times. It probably takes about 5 minutes each time because you have to court them first, sneak your way into their house and find them, then defeat them in "battle" to remove their clothes to be counted. That's assuming you don't mess up at all as well. So yeah, that one trophy alone takes hours. There are other ones too, like catching a legendary fish. That was the worst RNG trophy in the game and had me repeatedly fishing in this one barrel for hours. The most time-consuming trophies are related to learning all the moves for each style. Fist of all you have to actually acquire all the styles in the game, and that requires loads of playthroughs because many are tied to named NPC's that you only fight in certain routes. There's RNG tied to this as well because they won't drop the style every time. And once you actually get all the styles, you then have to learn the moves. You can get them by using the different styles in combat, but for the most part, I opted to learn these moves with scrolls. You get these scrolls by farming an ungodly amount of money which takes forever, so I think you can start seeing why this plat took me 140 hours. ? The trophy list doesn't even tell the full story, because there's a ton of clothing you need that are tied to their own separate unlockables list in the main menu. A lot of these are tied to seeing specific endings/scenes, but also stuff like killing 200 of this specific enemy type, getting 100 kills with a bunch of different styles, etc. You unlock one of them by beating the true ending route on the hardest difficulty, and there's this one encounter on that route where you have your weapons taken from you and have to fight 3 bosses at the same time while unarmed. It's undoubtedly the toughest part of the plat, but thankfully you can make it a bit easier by buffing yourself beforehand. I barely even scratched the surface of what's required for this plat, but I'd be here all day if I talked about everything. ? I'm relieved to have finally completed this game, although it's a little bittersweet too because it seems unlikely that we'll ever get a Way of the Samurai 5. I know there's the spin-off game Katana Kami: A Way of the Samurai Story which I'll absolutely play at some point, but it's not the same. These games are super underappreciated imo.

Popular Post Trancexistence
#16 - Tekken Tag Tournament HD 100% - Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Prologue I had an absolute blast playing Tekken Tag Tournament again and it brought back lots of happy memories from when I first bought a PS2 alongside Ridge Racer V (god bless Namco). At the time of it's release, it was essentially a "Greatest Hits" collection with several fighters who were missing from Tekken 3 such as Baek, Ganryu and most notably Kazuya all returning. Plus it had no story mode to speak of. As far as I'm aware, It has never been available for purchase on the PlayStation store but I was lucky enough to spot a copy of Tekken Hybrid at my local CeX store which has the game on disc alongside a demo for for the sequel. The demo is light on content with only 4 different fighters and 4 different stages but it does have it's own trophy list which I was able to finish in just over 2 hours. Playing through the Arcade mode 21 times with the same fighters on the same stages to unlock all of the movie images got old very quickly, but this was a very simple 100% to achieve nonetheless. Popular Post PooPooBlast
#179 Metal Hellsinger SLAY TO THE BEAT WITH METAL HELLSINGER. ??? So was the catchphrase for this game and boy did they deliver. Featuring the likes of: Björn Strid - Soilwork. Tatiana Shmayluk - Jinjer. Serj Tankian - System of a Down. Matt Heafy - Trivium. Mikael Stanne - Dark Tranquility. Dennis Lyxzén - Refused and INVSN. Randy Blythe - Lamb of God. Alissa White-Gluz - Arch Enemy. My head was banging left and right, I think I gave myself a concussion and turned my brain to soup! It's an absolute shame the game only has less than 500 owners on PSNP. It's ridiculously good. There wasn't a single track that I disliked and I'd go as far as say this was my GOTY for 2022 (so far anyway). In Hellsinger, you have to match the sound beats to the bullets fired from weapons. The incentive is that shots do more damage, you get higher scores and as soon as the multiplier reaches 16X, the vocals kick in and you're blessed with eargasmic sounds. This and the feedback you get both sound-wise and controller-wise from the Dualsense just feels amazing. Here's some gameplay! (managed to score as top 10 on the leaderboards on this level ) Edit: spoilers don't seem to open. Switching to another page and switching back, seems to fix it Spoiler With all that said, I'm hoping that this game gets a sequel or DLC of some sort which I'll more than gladly support. Play this game, you won't regret it. Onto the next! Edited October 2, 2022 by PooPooBlast For some reason, spoiler isn't opening. Popular Post Viper
#287 Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning Perfectionist Holy hell...it's finally (almost) over! I say almost because I need to play the new Fatesworn DLC now, but at least the big chunk of it is done. Talk about going into a game you once enjoyed, but the remaster long over stays its welcome. I loved this game on PS3. It's the game I give credit to for getting me out of my comfort zone and getting me into RPG's. We got it on PS+ back in 2013 and I had a blast with it, always wanted a sequel. So when the remaster came out, with new DLC announced it was one of those few times I was actually hyped for a remaster. And it was all well and good for awhile...but there's something fundamentally different about this...it's soooo much longer and drawn out some how that isn't completely apparent. I THINK it might because there's some kind of new enemy system in place, where enemies sync close to your level as you go (even though going back to early areas you can one-shot things), and then the game constantly throws hoards of enemies at you and I don't remember if this was in the original or not. You can't travel very far without being in another fight and this happened constantly and the farther you get in the game the more the map is littered with enemies, the more enemies just spawn out of nowhere and the more the game throws at you every time it realizes you're not in danger anymore. It honestly getting insanely tiering and quite infuriating at times...you just want to get from point A to point B in peace, but you have to fight something over and over as you go, and just running from battles isn't always that simple because enemies chase you and most are faster than you are, and as soon you get away you run into something else. It was too much. I think the game took that much longer because you're fighting something that more often often. I Platted the OG in 16 days and this one almost took me 32 days, and I was playing constantly and that was 29 days of just the main game, that's not counting the original 2 DLC's for this game are now required for the Platinum. Loaded up the PS3 version and my time stamp stamp said 109 hours, thats with the DLC done. Time Stamp here is at 227 Hours (PS5 says 188 Hours, which feel more accurate), and I still have a DLC to go. Other than that, it's still a fun game though I think I made a mistake going down a single skill tree this time. Originally I was a Jack of All Trades as I usually do in RPG's. But this time I wanted something more focused, so I went the Rogue route and focused on Daggers and a Bow. Which may have also contributed to the long Plat time, with Daggers you give up power for speed, so you do more hits for less bite...so it may have literally taken me longer to kill enemies. Eventually my Bow became the stronger weapon...getting full powered up pulls melted enemies. So once I got the Level 6 Rogue card, I respecced into Finesse and Might trees so I could have the strong bow and use a Sword instead...which feels more my style. Overall, it's still an enjoyable game...but it's very long and drawn out unlike it's PS3 counterpart. Might need a break from it before starting Fatesworn.
Guest
#511 Platinum Trophy Earn all available trophies for Crysis® 2 days, 2 hours, 10 minutes. I played: Crysis 3 > Crysis 1. Unfortunately, Crysis 2 platinum is no longer possible. 1 is highly explorable, allowing for different approaches and styles of play, while the third game is more linear. I liked the final sequence of the game, the fierce alien combat and some epic moments. The final battle was quite intense and frustrating on Delta difficulty, it was the height of the game, but I managed. I'm curious about Crysis 2, even without the trophy platinum I still want to play the original.

Popular Post Charizarzar
#169 The Council Knight of the Golden Order Enjoyment: 7/10 Difficulty: 3/10 The Council has a pretty bad write-up, and not without good reason. The story starts off as this Illuminati-esque political thriller/whodunnit with both fictional and historical figureheads (George Washington, Napoleon, Manuel Godoy, etc) but then curveballs pretty sharply by about Episode 3 (it's an episodic RPG). The animation and voicework are rather off-kilter, and the decision to give Louis (the main character, a Frenchman) an American accent was kind of bizarre, considering everyone but him and his mother (oh, and the way "Mother" is the most used word in this game is a whole other issue) had an appropriate one. Also, in regards to your potential sexual/romantic interest... Spoiler *Lannister theme intensifies* But overall, I learned to look past the issues I had and the story really stuck with me (the direction it took didn't really surprise me that much either, given what one of the skills was). The RPG elements aren't the most intense you'll ever see, but I still thought it was pretty well thought out. Plenty of dialogue choices, some dependent on the skills you go for and what level they're at, that allow you to figure out characters' immunities and weaknesses, and you also have limitations in how often you can choose them as the game has an exhaustion feature and doesn't hold your hand with filling the bar back up. Without following a walkthrough, you also have to pay attention to what you find out about these characters so you can pass future confrontations with them, and making the wrong choice or not being able to make the right one can make things harder for you. Trophy-wise though, you only really need to keep an eye on making sure you're gaining enough XP by not rushing through objectives, and on dividing your skills evenly so that you get a certain amount at Level 1, and then getting 1 skill to Level 3. Otherwise, it might mean having to replay again. But thankfully, it's pretty beneficial anyway to take a jack-of-all-trades approach, and all the choice-based trophies can be picked up in E1. The guide is pretty great and doesn't throw any spoilers your way, though you also don't really need to consult it once you're past E1. Would recommend, but just a warning that I'm probably an outlier here.

Popular Post WingBingDing
#95 Marvel's Avengers (PS5) Finally done with the 50 hives grind (took 65 for the trophy to unlocked). Really enjoyed the gameplay of this one up until the repetitive hive grind. The game itself is great, but the platinum really sucks. Was looking forward to the Winter Soldier expansion, but I may need to take a long break from this after losing my mind playing the same missions over and over again.
