Then going through my games and saw Unity made me think why not give it another try as theres been so many patches since then. I'm so glad I restarted the game from scratch and to my amazement the game was improved so much. Easily one of my fav Assassins game now. I found the CO OP also enjoyable as I stuck around to help a few gamers get the online trophies. The parkour I found not so clunky as others do but that's just me. The 100% sync compared to other AC games was good compared to the earlier AC. None of that stupid follow a person and don't get spotted crap. Anyways I'll try and go back to brotherhood and revelations as I finished those but not the plats. Happy hunting assassins.

Popular Post The Alchemist
#627 God of War Ragnarök (PS5) Ragnarök is a direct sequel to 2018's God of War (from here on I will simply be referring to this game as GOW18), itself a reboot of the long-running franchise. Ragnarök is for all intents and purposes a safe sequel. The cast of characters are mostly the same as in GOW18, notable introductions aside. The world is also the same as in GOW18, improvements and slight differences aside. The combat is also largely the same, with the same primary weapons from GOW18 forming the basis of combat gameplay. You might be thinking then that very little has actually changed between both games, and for the most part you would be correct. BUT, that is arguably the game's biggest strength. Allow me to explain. Where so many highly anticipated sequels try too hard to reinvent the wheel, to overwhelm the player's senses with shiny new things, to set itself apart from what came before, Ragnarök plays things surprisingly safe and is all the better for it. The foundation was already there from the previous game. That allowed Santa Monica Studio (SMS) to focus on improving rather than reinventing. As the age-old adage goes, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". SMS took everything that worked well from GOW18 and got to work on improving, tweaking and polishing it all to perfection, and the results speak for themselves. The already excellent combat is further refined and tightened. The world which had a tendency to feel somewhat restrictive in GOW18 now feels much more open and free to explore. The lack of enemy variety -- a common critique of GOW18 -- has been fixed in spades. Each and every realm has been refined and polished with such a degree of detail that it's simply astonishing to behold. All of this combines to give a unique sense of familiarity to the world of Ragnarök, yet also a distinct sense of originality and wonder. It's truly a delicate feat of balance that proves new isn't always better, and that sometimes sticking with what we already know is the better choice. The story is perhaps Ragnarök's biggest evolution. Bigger over GOW18's story in every sense of the word, yet still tight and well paced. There is little detail I can go into here without entering spoiler territory, so I will keep it brief and spoiler free. Emotional, weighty, funny, charming, exciting and action-packed. The story had everything, and there isn't a single emotion that I didn't experience throughout my playthrough. The writing in particular deserves a special mention. I cannot get over just how excellent it is. It is among the best writing I've ever experienced in a game. Every single character is so well-written. Every character gets their time to shine, the time to develop and evolve. It's so, so good. Lots of funny quips and lighter moments to alleviate some of the heavier moments. Regardless of how well-written a story is, it needs a cast to bring it to life, and oh boy did the cast here deliver. The voice acting is absolutely phenomenal. A true high point for the game. Every actor brings their best and gives it their all. I'm sure Cristopher Judge and Sunny Suljic will earn most of the plaudits, and although it's well deserved, don't let that fool you into thinking that it's just them who bring the goods here. I thought that Danielle Bisutti who portrays Freya did a particularly outstanding job. The depth of her performance and the pain and emotion she conveyed was something special. Alastair Duncan who portrays Mimir was as fantastic and hilarious as ever. Robert Craighead who plays Brok really stepped up here. I thought he was very good in GOW18, but he really elevated his performance here. Adam J Harrington as Sindri was perhaps the biggest surprise for me. What an exceptional and nuanced performance! The newcomers all do an outstanding job as well. I just can't praise the writing and the voice acting enough. It was a joy to experience. There are other aspects that deserve high praise, not least of all the score, which for me just made everything feel bigger and more impactful. Bear McCreary did an outstanding job here again. The visuals are also something to behold. Rarely have I stopped so frequently during a game just to take a screenshot. I have a feeling we'll be seeing shots from the game for a long time to come once photo mode gets implemented. It's one of the most visually striking and beautiful game worlds I have ever seen. The general performance and polish of the game also deserves a special mention, because it is flawless. I mean it. I did not encounter a single glitch, bug or hiccup in over 60 hours of play. I opted for the performance mode along with the high frame rate option, because I have a TV capable of taking full advantage of it, and it was glorious. It absolutely looks next-gen. The details and overall polish of everything is astounding. To me, this is the best looking game I've played on PS5 thus far, it's that good. That's pretty much everything that I wanted to say, so I will close with the following statement: Most sequels strive for bigger and bolder, but few achieve the status of better. Fewer still manage to achieve all three. Ragnarök does, and it does so whilst making it look so incredibly easy. Ragnarök may be safe, but I am absolutely fine with that. Not only am I fine with it, but it has really opened my eyes up to the possibilities when games take this 'safer' approach, and it is something that I hope other developers take note of. You do not always need to reinvent the wheel to stand out. Rather, improving upon what worked well before and removing what didn't can make all the difference. In this regard, I hope that Ragnarök is used as a blueprint for other highly anticipated sequels. You can deliver new whilst also keeping things familiar, and your game will probably be better for it. Ragnarök is therefore not just the perfect sequel. It's the perfect game.
Popular Post ShinigamiSensei-
#219: STATE OF MIND Ticket to Mars Obtain every trophy in the game. [39.41% UNCOMMON] Enjoyment: 7/10 Platinum Difficulty: 2/10 Nice short game! Let's see...it's difficult to talk about the game without spoiling anything, but it got a nice Deus Ex vibe to it. I really like how transhumanity is depicted in this game, and the plot twists really grabbed my attention. However, I was somewhat disappointed by the final 1-2 hours of the game. I don't regret playing it (the journey is more important than the destination IMO), but honestly the ending wasn't that good.

Popular Post Nauticus87
#692 - Dragon Quest Builders 2 Bigger and better in nearly every way over DQB1. When doing DQB1 I was perplexed at how one of the challenges was to beat each chapter in a set amount of days. It seemed to go against everything the game stood for. Instead of taking the world in I was rushing through it in pursuit of the next quick quest. It seems the developers themselves agree with this sentiment - when released on Nintendo Switch they changed it to 'discover x items', a perfect requirement for a game about exploration, discovery and experimentation. After giving myself a break of a few games, seeing that DQB2 removed the speedrun elements, I decided to give the sequel a go. I couldn't have been happier with my decision. This was one of my best gaming experiences all year. No missable trophies. No rush. A relaxing experience that I fully embraced. Found myself spending hours doing things I didn't need to do for the platinum, having fun for the sake of fun. This worked well for the end when there were a couple of 'grindy' trophies. Rather than worrying about waiting I was building a pool. A bar. Deciding on the multi-floor apartment for my dogs as I bred through to the 4th generation and a trophy. I'm far from artistic but I pored over the right décor in every room as if I was awaiting an audience. As my art gallery at the end of a minecart track was finished up I got the last gratitude points I needed to unlock the final Explorer Shore and, with it, the platinum. Highly recommended.

Popular Post Dantes_994
STAR WARS REPUBLIC COMMANDO One of the SquadEarn all trophies FUN: 8/10 DIFFICULTY: 6/10 PLAT NO.24 I love star wars. Even more so the stuff before the Mouse take over. These older games have so much soul and care put into them even though they are clunky in places. But that's normal in these older games. Older... damn yeah I guess this does land in the "older games" category right? I remember buying it when I was i grade school with my allowance. Seems like a lifetime ago and yesterday at the same time. What to say about the game itself and the plat? Story wise it's interesting enough to care until the end with each high point accented by the classical star wars themes, mainly from the sequels. But where the game truly shines is in the four main characters. 07, 38, 40, 62 have so much charisma and bravado witch each feeling like a genuine person that want to sit down with and have a drink. If I were a Jedi you can bet me and the boys would have a couple of pints and talk about the good old days. Their interactions and animations are so seamless and interwoven into the gameplay that you naturally from from planet to planet without stopping to take a breath. The gameplay, likewise, is integral in their personalities as each has his own comments in regards to what you assign to them as an assignment. Of course, without you giving them orders the game is impossible to finish on the hardest difficulty. They provide so much cover fire that you end up feeling like the weakest member of the crew. I adored every scene after a fire fight where they would high five one another and shoot one lines. God I miss games like these. One negative which can be pretty big if you are going for the plat is that the hardest difficulty can be tough as balls. Did I say balls? Pardon my French, I meant I would rather watch The Last Jedi again then play through a few segments. And here is someone who grew up playing DMC. But, while it did deter from the experience while playing, once finished it does add to the charm of the game as I felt that we accomplished something really challenging together. In all I would HIGHLY recommend this game to any star wars fan, new or old. Don't know what plat will be next. Nioh 2? BB? Jedi Academy? I have no clue, but I know I'll be having a blast ?
Popular Post MatThaRiPP3R84
satisfaction 7 fun 7 pretty good game, lots of challenges and levels to do, definitely worth the money, enemies will flank and use mortars and vehicles against you, unlimited stealth possibilities, great sniping and physics model genuinely great game. I did find the game world a bit convoluted personally, they cram so much shit into such a small area, and the area is a labyrinth and the map isn't always accurate, so it can be a bit bewildering, but it's a great world to get lost in, dialogue is as corny as this one man army shit always is but it doesn't detract, if you like shooters you'll love this.

Popular Post Darghel
#163 void tRrLM(); (Void Terrarium) Difficulty: Infuriating and frustrating Time to Complete: 33 hours Recommended: No Total score: 4/10 Oh boy, I'm gonna get beaten for this aren't I? Cause apparently this game does have a lot of love and praise, and I can see that too. But I can't deny that this game was way, WAY too frustrating for me to enjoy fully, and even with the help of the guide and everything it still didn't help that I was barely making it. Ok, first things first: Void Terrarium is a roguelite (hey thanks sis for telling me the difference between roguelite and roguelike!) and you're a robot named...Robbie? Well, you technically have no name but the AI calls you Robbie, and let's go with it. Together you find a human girl, the last one, and from there you decide to take care of her by giving her food, cleaning the house, taking care of her diseases and etc. Besides the caretaker aspect of the game, you'll be going in dungeons and from there you'll be going trying your best to get further and further so you can collect the materials request. And since this is a roguelite you'll always start from scratch, without anything except upgrades you took by crafting items and/or skills. And since this plays like a Mystery Dungeon game, every action you take means also the enemy will make an action, and so on and so forth. You'll have to take care of your energy, your health, and the perks that you unlock. And so far that's pretty easy, but once you'll go to your second or third dungeon, things get out of hand and the frustration begins. I only have 3 problems with this game, three major issues that didn't make it fun for me, and for whatever reason, I think they should've tweaked or made some improvements. Too. Many. Traps! Seriously! In literally every single corner of the dungeon, in every possible way, in every conceivable moment, a trap is there to ruin your time. Most of them are just a pain in the butt and are only there to frustrate you...and occasionally end your run because the game is evil. How evil is it you ask? I have, quite literally, got ambushed by a group of monsters, THE FIRST STEP I put into one dungeon. And somehow I survived but that was literally the first 10 seconds and I was already risking of dying! Other times also I had a trap locking me in place, making me unable to hit back, or how I spent an entire minute trying to hit an enemy because the trap confused me and didn't let me hit in the right direction! Or how one trap made me fall asleep...in the middle of MONSTER HOUSE! Or how a lagging trap literally killed me just as I was heading toward the teleported for the next level! AAAARGH! The only reason I managed to survive most of the time was because of my 95% damage reduction and the fact that Robbie was literally doing 1000+ damage per hit. I legitimately could not believe what was happening because of these bloody traps! And yes I'm aware that there are MODs like anti-gravity that will basically make you immune...but those are drops which means it's random. And I'd rather use osmosis which at least scales with your attack. And the worst thing of all? ENEMIES DON'T TRIGGER THEM! Isn't it fair when enemies walk over traps, but only you can trigger them? GRRRRR! Too. Many. Status effects! Just like there are too many traps, there are also far too many status effects...from the enemies! And they can stack too, of course! I lost count of how many status effects I had on me, especially those enemies that are on the other side of the room, spamming "whatever" and putting me in perma-lag. Oh yeah, the status effects are some of the worst I had: status effects like Lag or Confusion (called glitch here) are most likely gonna get you killed because they practically allow you to get hit, or make you never hit the target. And of course, there are no counters or protections against these status effects because that would be very fair and make a good challenge! Did I mention there's a status effect that LITERALLY drops your item on the floor? Your moonstone you spent hours farming to get? Make sure to get it before you forget or buh-bye moonstone (thankfully it didn't happen to me but I can see it happening to some!). Ah and make sure you don't get hit by the mice because they steal your stuff. Including items like moonstone. Isn't it nice?! Too. Much. RNG! Hold on, I know what you're saying: these kinds of games are all about rng, it's all about adapting and making sure you get through the end with what you got. And you're correct, and you even have the ability to customize your character in order to get more benefits and more chances to get better skills right away, such as canceling skills or having 3-4 skills appearing at once. And with some time, you can get a good build that can carry through the dungeon with not many troubles. But let's be honest here: it's still too random to be fully sure you'll make it out alive without issues and unless you grind some blueprints to get some extra starting stats, you'll probably going to struggle very easily and very early on. Even with the guide telling me what to do and what perks to bring or cancel, I still have to actually GET the right perks to make it work right and those can appear right away or never (On my last dungeon run, I still hadn't the perk to reduce damage x item, so I could still die if I wasn't careful despite managing to one shot most enemies). In many of the early runs, you'll suffer from the RNG like crazy. Many runs were abruptly over because of the previously mentioned points: a trap blocking you or making you lag or confuse, missing every attack, or not being able to attack fast enough and you die. Or some sneaky enemy pulling you in, stunning you because of a trap, alongside a bug enemy that once killed will leave a large poison area that while it also damages the enemies, does the most damage to you (of course it does!). Because of the RNG I just never felt I was able to learn much or was being somewhat challenged because I was just lucky to get the right perk at the right time and get through. If I didn't I'd most likely lose, and even with 14-15 cancel points I still had some struggles. Even stats upgrades are random! If you want to increase your starting hp or attack or defense you need to find the blueprint in the dungeon - and pray to God a mouse doesn't steal it - and then bring it home and craft it! Everything is random in this game and it's really hard to make progress when you barely have any control on what you can upgrade. Case in point, I really tried my best to get something out of it, but I just think this game is far too frustrating to be enjoyable. And there's a difference between hard and frustrating: hard is when a game is demanding your maximum attention and you're forced to play at the best of your best, making you progress slowly but steadily. But a frustrating game is one that, no matter the attention or time you put in, a single mistake will make you go back in progress and essentially make everything you did so far in vain. You learned nothing, you gained nothing, and you just wasted your time. And I often times felt that way in this game. If you're curious about this game, and I do mean REALLY curious, I'd recommend it only if you have a lot of patience, and if you don't mind getting beaten very often. Trophy-wise the game isn't too hard at the very least - thankfully! - but it will take you a good chunk of time, especially the level 50 grind. Hey, at least no endless dungeon requirements so that's good for me! And the story is...Uhm...yeah, I don't really know, there isn't much of a story and I think that's fine. It's the least of your problems I'd say. I really wish I couldn't be so harsh, but the game was harsh on me so I can't really be fair when the game wasn't. And while I admit that I'm kind of a newbie on this kind of game I did ask for my sister, who has played a crapton of Mystery Dungeon games before me, and she did comment on how the game feels very hard, especially when you can't bring items the hub or how "your hunger is also your mana, no wonder it's hard". Also, the actual hunger from the girl being an additional timer, on top of your energy, forces you to be speedy if possible and to get the food whenever you can - possibly without contamination, or else you'll infect the girl! I will say this, and the only positive thing I can think of this game: it's a good game, I don't think it's a bad one, and definitely not bad. But I do think it's a very frustrating game and it could've used a few tweaks and QoL options (like a bank for items that aren't just food, or some way to get food easy without contamination for instance) to make the experience a bit better. If you think you can enjoy this, give it a shot, and don't let my rant stop you. To me, this game is just frustrating but not bad. And that's all I can say. Popular Post Redgrave
#261: Tier 1 - Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) I figured I would play that hit new sensation that's sweeping the nation Call of Duty the kids are playing these days. But yes, not counting the Modern Warfare 1 and 2 remasters this is my first dive back into a Call of Duty game since Modern Warfare 3. I had heard good things about this one which despite it being a reboot usually makes me skeptical but I think it was handled well even if it was different from the Call of Duty I'm used to. Since there were no trophies for Warzone (thankfully) I didn't even bother playing it despite them trying their best to shove it in the players face at all times from the UI to the credits title card in the campaign having "Warzone" in the title as if I was actually playing the campaign for Warzone all along. Even the game icon (on PS5 at least) shows Warzone which actually made me think it was going to just boot up Warzone from the start. You see, I am one of those outcasts that does play Call of Duty for the campaign story since I really enjoyed the story from all the games up until Modern Warfare 3. But yeah, the campaign was pretty good. I know there was buzz about it having controversial moments through it and I'm completely fine with that since war isn't supposed to be pretty which even the original games showcased. There was one mission that was advertised as being worse than No Russian from MW2 but it definitely wasn't anywhere near as brutal as that. If anything there were at least two other missions I would say were worse than that one, one of which shows a dead kid but still not quite as shocking as No Russian. But that said, I have to give credit for not pulling punches. In a way though it is kind of funny how they basically invented a fictional country called Urzikstan with a legally distincy Al-Qaeda name (named Al-Qatala) which I guess was used to avoid controversy by being too close to history but I still thought it was fine. Continuing on with the campaign it's not very long as kind of expected but it has some moments that were fun like the ones where you can call in drone strikes with a targeting beacon and another where you can call in a chopper for a moment. You only call in the chopper once unfortunately but it was fun using it. There's no AC-130 mission as well which is a shame since I think that would have been cool. There are a couple stealth missions though where you use the night vision and there is something of a stealth mechanic to it where it shows a meter if you're standing in a light source or not. The final stealth mission has more of an "open map" kind of thing going for it too so it's not a linear stealth mission in the sense you're following one of the characters around. Instead you can choose the path you want and have to stealth around an area taking out enemies along the way while talking to prisoners. On top of that you can shut off the lights in the buildings the prisoners are in which was cool. Probably my favorite campaign mission was The Embassy because it's a mission that goes from "bad to worse" as it goes on since it's about an Embassy being overrun by the Al-Qatala trying to get their leader back from custody and there's a moment where you have to defend a position which starts off kind of easy and then it just escalates with enemies starting to come in bigger numbers to where they eventually breach the wall and there's just gunfire coming from all directions. What also made it great for me is there are moments of pause and everyone is thinking "Is it over?" before more enemies start coming in and eventually you have to fall back. I just really like hold out stuff like that where there is a threat of being overrun since it feels like you're making a last stand and it gets really chaotic ? Since it's a reboot, there's also a reboot of our favorite British soldier Captain Price and he's mostly similar to how he is in the previous Modern Warfare games although he doesn't seem as gruff but maybe that's different in the Modern Warfare 2 reboot. In the reboot he looks like he's a soldier first but deep down wants to be a humble fisherman that hangs out with his grandkids ? Not that I'm making fun of him but that's the impression I got and I do like him even if not as much as the original. None of the other characters from the original make an appearance apart from being named except I think one of the characters you were playing as is Gaz. Unlike the original games though there are cutscenes out of first-person (which I think Advanced Warfare started but I'm not sure) and your characters talk which I know was in Black Ops but Modern Warfare would use the silent protagonist. This is one of the things I consider different from the Call of Duty I'm used to. In a way I kind of preferred the cutscenes being in first-person and with a silent protagonist if necessary (Black Ops withstanding) since it felt more engaging that way since it felt like you were really there so to speak. But that said I didn't particularly mind it that much and I liked the transitions into first-person. The last thing I would like to bring up is the sound design. I remember seeing footage before it came out and the guns sounded really meaty and impactful more than usual which I really liked since it made playing the game with headphones really good and immersive since it really sounded like bullets would be flying past your head at varying distances and it made the chaotic battle sections all the more cool like The Embassy mission. There is one thing I will say though that's kind of a negative about the game is that there isn't much of a soundtrack when I feel like there could have been. What's there isn't bad but the one Hans Zimmer did gave it that extra "oomph" to make the campaign of the originals more memorable. Instead a lot of missions are just loud gunfights with no music playing which again is fine but I would have personally liked some kind of music that ramps up to add on to make it feel more engaging. With all that said it's a good campaign and has some cool moments and I had fun with it however short it is. If I ever get around to the Modern Warfare 2 reboot I hope it's just as good if not better. There's not really much to say about the trophies. It's a pretty basic list of misc stuff and a difficulty trophy thrown in and with the campaign being so short the misc stuff isn't that bad. There is technically only one MP trophy in the form of the Spec-Ops DLC but with the right team it can be done pretty easily. Beyond that the only difficult thing about it is Veteran difficulty which compared to the previous Call of Duty games really isn't that bad. There are a few annoying moments throughout the campaign but it's not as bullshit frustrating as World at War's Veteran difficulty with grenade spam. However, it does share some of its predecessors aimbot accuracy enemies. Again it's not near as awful as World at War but enemies can and often do just headshot you and drop you before you can react if you stick your head out of cover for more than 0.001 seconds. There is one level with an enemy sniper gimmick where you have to run between cover to avoid it and you think the sniper would kill you in one hit but for some reason it doesn't. However, some mook with a shotgun like 30 feet away can blast your head off with such accuracy that there's no need for snipers at all. So yeah, it's about what you would expect however it's really not that bad as long as you play it safe. Popular Post Intoner_Zero
#177- Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Neat little action-adventure game that's parts serious business, awkwardly funny, and surprisingly endearing. Featuring most people's favorite guardians (not of this timeline tho, shhhh). I did experience some technical hiccups, but nothing game breaking obvs.
Popular Post Alantor32
#55: Sonic Frontiers Probably the most fun Sonic game I played on PS5 this year. I love that it's Sonic's first open world adventure. I really hope they make more open world Sonic games in the future.
