Popular Post disaster500
#59 The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - 14.67% It's Skyrim, everyone on the planet has played it. Including me many years ago, on the PS3 version when I didn't care about trophies and barely completed any of the games I played. I replayed it on the PS4 version, and I've now got the platinum. It's a great game, but once again everyone knows that. The trophy list is pretty good too, completing the main questline and the questline of the major guilds makes up most of the trophies. Only a few things are missable and they're mostly in the Daedric quests so I recommend using a guide for them. Besides that you have to do random stuff such as buy a house, learn 20 shouts, get married etc. I played as a mage, mainly using fire Destruction spells and Bound Bow as my weapons. By the end I had managed to get approximately 97% reduced cost on Destruction spells through enchanting some gear, so I could endlessly spam Expert spells. There was some Bethesda jank in there though. One time my follower (Lydia) vanished off the face of the planet and I didn't notice. Afterwards I couldn't get her to appear, so I had to reload a save I made several hours ago to get her back. I do recommend it though. There's a reason Skyrim is beloved by so many over a decade later. Edited January 2, 2023 by disaster500 added rarity

Popular Post PraiseTheFluppi
#88 - Wild ArmsUltimate WILD ARMS Player Difficulty: 3/10 Time: ~40 hours Enjoyment: 8/10 A classic JRPG in the likes of old Final Fantasy games with a Wild West approach in terms of sounds and scenery. This was my first time playing the game, and after a slow and dull start, it grew on me. I always liked the classic JRPG games and figuring out puzzles and optional sidequests on my own, so I played this game completely blind and without a guide at first. While I had no trouble with knowing where to go next in the story, I kept getting stuck at a handful of places (speaking to the nun in the temple; the puzzle with the 5 chests and bookshelfs; the statues for love, hope and courage and the 4th decoy statue). Close to the end of the game, it was time for the optional bosses - they can't be that hard to find, right? ... Right? After talking to most NPC's again, reading the books in the library and still not having ANY clue where to find the bosses, I gave up. And after looking up the locations and how to get to them, my eyes fell out of my head! How in the world is anybody able to figure this out on their own? ? Strategy guides for the win! Apart from that, the game itself isn't too difficult. It was mostly just spamming special attacks in boss fights and the occasional healing or buff here and there, nothing too complicated. And once you can buy the goat dolls, the game becomes a no-brainer. The story is like most classic JRPG's, almost not noteworthy or indistinguishable compared to similar games, but heartwarming and charming anyway. The music has a lot of whistling which is associated to the Wild West - the melodies are easy to remember and positively catchy! All in all, I'm very satisfied with the game. It has its flaws, but it is a pleasant experience. ?

Popular Post Trancexistence
#32 - Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition Was hoping to get this one done before the end of 2022 but unfortunately I ran out of time. On the plus side though, I have my first platinum of 2023 nice and early This is a game I'd previously played on Xbox 360 but not to 100% completion, only the main story. This re-release arrived a couple of years after it's previous generation release and collected all of the game's DLC's in one package. I found it pretty unstable on PS5 and there's even a warning on screen when booting the game up that advises as such. It crashed often and I recommend playing it on PS4 if you have one. I do but it's in a cupboard and I was too lazy to dig it out Other than that though, it was as I remembered. It's a very enjoyable open world adventure with a compelling story, great characters and a fun melee combat system. I liked the side missions and the other content and I wasn't bored during trophy cleanup. The two sets of DLC trophies were a nice addition and added about another 6 hours to my game time. Nightmare in North Point was the pick of the two add-ons whilst Year of the Snake was a more generic set of cop missions. Next up for me is Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition and all that remains to be said is "Why don't you have a pork bun in your hand?" Enjoyment: 9/10 Difficulty: 4/10 Total Game Time: 44 hours (Platinum trophy - 38 hours, DLC's - 3 hours each)

It gave me nerve-wracking anxiety cause if you fall into the water you're back to square one...fortunately I was able to manage it. PotrikBerger
Weird West (PS4) Anticipation Interest was piqued when I read about it early in the year. However, proceeded to forget about it and it’s initial release completely passed me by - 2/5 Enjoyment Lots of fun. Gets length and pacing spot on, story is silly in the most delightful and amusing of ways and the gameplay (although really tough in some sections does facilitate the ability to save practically anywhere....eradicating any need to constantly retread old steps) feels satisfying in a way not all twin stick shooters achieve. Although weapon variety is a little on the stingy side, battle mechanics are always engaging and made deep enough to never feel repetitive through the combination of playing different characters and their respective individual upgrade systems and skill trees. I picked this up really reasonably for £16 on the store Xmas sale. Platinum is also relatively simple with the super convenient save system simplifying any potentially tricky trophies. The most you have to replay is a small section of one chapter. Only real downside was it did crash a lot (played on a PS5 so not sure if that contributed). Overall though, Thoroughly worth every penny - 4/5 Retrospect Pitches the Weird and the West fusion exactly right, and for a game to play over the Xmas period it was very easy to dip in and out of in short bursts. Would recommend to everyone who gets the chance to give it a go - 4/5

Popular Post da-Noob123
December was a pretty productive month for me. 1. Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart Really happy to finally get to play this, it was one of the few games that actually made me want to get PS5. It was short but sweet - the opening filled me with nostalgia and Dr. Nefarious' opening joke gave me a hearty chuckle. 2. God of War: Ragnarok Hell of a story and a stellar performance by Christopher Judge. I don't particularly enjoy the combat or RPG mechanics that the series has taken since the soft reboot but some of the fights were pretty epic. Curious what pantheon the series tackles next. 3. Syphon Filter 2 I didn't enjoy going back through the sequel as I did the first game but do hope we get the rest of SF games down the line. 4. 11-11: Memories Retold A moving story akin to Valiant Hearts. It's got a unique water paint aesthetic - a literal painting of a picture with your words experience.

Popular Post Valzentia
#133 - Green Day: Rock Band Difficulty: 6/10 Fun: 9.5/10 HOLY FUCKING SHIT IT'S MY DREAM PLATINUM...Seriously. I've ALWAYS been a massive Green Day fangirl. Ever since I was very young. I grew up on their music and they are completely responsible along with a select few other artists for my forays into music. So I had always wanted to both own this game and possibly 100% it. And holy fuck, I fucking did it. I refuse to do anything rarer than this plat so it stays on my profile for the rest of eternity no matter how much I rearrange my cabinet. Gameplay is standard Rock Band, and how fun you'll find it is basically down to how much you enjoy the band. My biggest complaints are nitpicky stuff, like the lack of anything pre-Dookie (though in fairness to Harmonix, that was because the masters for the prior albums were horrendously damaged), and how bad Chump sounds when doing any instrument outside of vocals (though the original masters for that song and "Longview" didn't have separate stems due to the nature of how they were recorded). All in all though, I fucking loved the experience even during the harder trophies because at least I could jam while I kept trying. But yeah. Holy shit. I fucking did it. There's nowhere to go from here but down in my opinion.

Popular Post Bean_Cove
For christmas i got a PS5 so i was finally able to kick start my next gen trophy hunting, i refused to get the first plat on it before 2023, and now the new year is here: #100 - God of War Ragnarok #101 - Stray #102 - Spider-Man: Miles Morales (auto pop) #103 - Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy (semi auto pop) #104 - Ghost of Tsushima (auto-pop) #105 - What Remains of Edith Finch #106 - Death Stranding: Director's Cut (semi auto pop)
Popular Post Darling Baphomet
194: Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales A great (mini) follow up to the PS4 Spider-Man game, Miles Morales follows... well, Miles Morales, offering a distinct cast of characters and new powers, namely Miles's ability to channel electricity and go invisible. The story's significantly shorter than in the original game, which checks out with it being more of a standalone expansion than a full game, but what is there is wholly enjoyable and compelling. At the forefront is probably the Tinkerer, a super villain who may as well be an original character, since they have so little resemblance to their existing namesake. Swinging was a big selling point of the first game, and it's even more impressive in Miles, between his far more fluid and expressive swinging animations and being able to play the game in 60 fps. My biggest complaint is probably that the combat gets a bit ridiculous at times, with tons of enemies with AOE attacks that disable your abilities, but all in all the combat is solid.

Popular Post Bloke
Platinum #54 - Final Fantasy IX Difficulty 8/10 - Enjoyment 10/10 Heroes of Gaia 7.37% My first Final Fantasy game I ever played and most enjoyed. A great story and a notoriously tough trophy. This completion leaves 2 more Final Fantasy titles in my current catalogue to go until I take a break from this series, but I am definitely waiting for the 1-6 pixel remasters. Looking back on this run, I could have potentially got a quicker time, however I couldn't stand grinding the kills in one day. Best of luck to anyone wishing to attempt 'Hail to the King'.

Popular Post StraightVege
The Battle Chaser #315 While I have no familiarity whatsoever with the comic book series this is based on, I was nevertheless drawn to trying it, because of Joe Madureira's awesome artwork and the strategic, turn-based combat. Considering the familiar vibes created by the coalescence of Joe's iconic art style and Jesper Kyd's moody soundtrack, this easily could've been a Darksiders RPG, if they simply reskinned the characters. Battle Chasers is unabashedly a game paying homage to classic JRPGs, feeling uncannily like some hidden gem from the PS2 days. Certainly rough around the edges, but accounting for the small team and limited budget, it ain't half bad. The gist of it is that a ragtag group of adventurers is ambushed over unfamiliar territory, resulting in their airship being shot down, and getting them tangled in a plot involving bandits, necromancers, and vampires (oh my). What begins as a humble mission to locate their scattered colleagues and regain transportation quickly escalates into preventing the resurrection of a demon, and of course, the end of the world—you know, just RPG things. Since it concludes on a somewhat unsatisfying cliffhanger, it'd be nice if they get around to doing a proper sequel eventually. I'm a big fan of how the creative cast subverts your expectations. You wouldn't assume a little girl like Gully to be the game's most impervious tank, a muscle-bound tough guy like Garrison to be a glass cannon, or a massive war robot like Calibretto to be a kind-hearted healer. In particular, Alumon the vampire priest demonstrates extremely cool design visually and mechanically, blending healing magic with frightening occult attacks. The least interesting member, however, has to be Red Monika, a sort of rogue. Similar to the game itself, she's pulled straight out of a bygone era, including the bikini armor and stereotypical sassy attitude. She doesn't fit too well into most party compositions, either, being unable to match Garrison's insane damage output, or dodge-tank effectively enough to displace Gully. As for Knolan, an aged wizard, he's just kinda... there. I barely used the fella, honestly. Only around half of the dialogue is voiced, but it's done so quite capably; I can't recall a single bad performance, in fact. Most notably, the prolific Gavin Hammon (well known as Kenny from TWD) does an adequate job portraying the emotionally repressed badass, Garrison. We see some nice character development in the interactions between Gully and him, wherein he gradually learns to express his almost brotherly concern for her, although most of this occurs in text only, following a night's rest at the inn. Alumon's actor also has one of the most soothing voices I've ever heard, making his scenes a pleasure to hear. Core gameplay revolves around traveling a node-based overworld map from a bird's eye view, entering procedurally generated dungeons which offer a variety of random traps, puzzles, and events, and ultimately defeating the resident boss in a turn-based battle to the death. As is customary, you'll collect tons of loot during these raids, from gear of different rarities, to crafting materials used back at the town blacksmith. I found myself impressed by the number of possible rooms, as even after playing a dungeon several times, I encountered stuff I hadn't yet seen. Certain traps and obstacles do make traversal irritating, but you grow accustomed to it. Slightly puzzling why they even gave you the option to flee from conflicts, though, since the enemies move faster than your party outside of battles, and will swiftly drag you back into the encounter you just escaped. As you probably gleaned from this, monsters are visible entities in the game world, rather than random encounters, and can theoretically be avoided. Your party actually has dungeon skill attacks they can utilize, to do things such as inflict status effects on their foes, before engaging them in combat. The most helpful of these is undoubtedly stun, used by both Garrison and Gully—yet another reason why they're vital party members. Due to the comprehensive perk charts possessed by each character, combat remains fresh throughout most of the first playthrough. It's possible to add or remove perk points whenever you wish, providing immense flexibility in how you approach fights. True, the frequent need to navigate clunky menus in the process of reallocating your points definitely becomes tedious quickly, but on the whole, it affords so much customization in character building that I can't complain much. Unfortunately, this only extends so far, because you'll eventually reach a stage where you have the ideal party, strong equipment, and more perk points than you known how to spend. Combat then degenerates into a mindless series of repetitive actions: Garrison wrecks everything with his absurdly overpowered skills, Gully absorbs the majority of the damage creatures can dish out, while Alumon heals her and removes any applied debuffs. Frankly, the NG+ run was dreadfully boring overall, but the journey up to that point is nonetheless enjoyable, at least. One must also be willing to tolerate some pervasive technical issues for the entirety of the Battle Chasers experience, because it constantly feels like it's on the verge of crashing (and did, a number of times for me). Frame rate hitching and LONG load times are very common. Flaws and all, though, the game did a competent job of recapturing some of the magic I felt while playing FFVII over and over as a child, and I would still recommend it for fans of that JRPG style. Pretty good! I might have to check out Ruined King someday, which is essentially this game's spiritual successor, set in the League of Legends universe. Enough yakking for now; I'll post about #316 sometime later on. Behold, ’tis the black loading screen of success:
Popular Post greenzsaber
Valkyrie Drive Bhikkuni Anime girl hack n' slash. Slightly harder than Senran Kagura, but not by much. Trophy list gets a D for including a completely unnecessary grind to 5 mil EXP, an amount that's 3x what you need to max every character out. It also had issues unlocking trophies at times, often needing to restart the game after fulfilling the requirements to unlock them properly. Game has probably the worst lock-on system I've ever encountered, with the target selection seemingly random. After the halfway point, you'll face the same enemies/bosses over and over again and it never gets any better. That aside, it does have a lot of good moves and attacks, and finding the collectibles/doing challenge mode was enjoyable. With a little more polish, this could've been one of the high-end Vita games.
