Popular Post PooPooBlast
#182 God of War Ragnarok God of War Ragnarok is the conclusion for Kratos' journey in Norse mythology. The game picks up right after the events of GoW 2018 but this time with the companionship of a teenage/more mature Atreus. The bond between father and son is challenged especially with the inevitable arrival of Ragnarok, with both Kratos and Atreus seeking to do things their own way. It was really incredible to see the character development of Kratos. Going from this in GoW3 to this.. I can't really talk much about the story without delving into spoilers but I absolutely loved the character development and the plot/twists. The game had me hooked from start to finish. Additionally, I really appreciated the little lines of dialogue and references to the previous games. Felt like you were out adventuring with your friends/allies and catching up after spending nearly years without seeing them. I'm really curious to see where they would take Kratos' story from here though. Does he go somewhere else? Egypt? Japan? Does Atreus follow him there too? Time will tell.. With that said, that's all the GoW games completed! Onto the next .
Popular Post Darling Baphomet
198: Beat Saber (4.79%) Hoo boy, I've been working on this one for a while! And it bumped me up to 44.44% completion which is a nice touch. Beat Saber is kind of like the Fruit Ninja of VR. It's an extremely simplistic game that shows off a gimmick of the system it's on - in Fruit Ninja's case, touch controls, in Beat Saber's case... well, kind of also touch controls? But in a different way. Unlike Fruit Ninja, though, Beat Saber is an extremely competent rhythm game with a ton to learn despite its rather simple gameplay. While other rhythm games focus entirely on matching button inputs to prompts, in Beat Saber you have to actually chain hits together, making each track have its own sort of dance, and teaching you a kind of language of movements, which moves are appropriate for which block configurations, etc. Ultimately the game is a bit too simplistic for my taste at times (although this feeling was less present once I started primarily playing on expert difficulty), however it's probably the best rhythm game on PSVR1 since the base gameplay is strong and it has a huge library of songs if you include DLC. Onto the next workout game!
Popular Post Undead Wolf
#439 - Risk of Rain 2 Clear Skies You have weathered the storm. I do enjoy me a good rogue-like. This one stands out from a lot of the others because you can actually play it in co-op. What game isn't more fun with friends? ? Risk of Rain 2 is quite different from the first game because it's fully 3D. The main objective on each level is to reach the teleporter which is in a different position each time, so you have to search around for it. Activating the teleporter spawns a boss that you have to defeat before you can move on to the next level. You can basically repeat this process forever as you can loop back to the beginning, but the deal is that the longer a run goes on for, the more the difficulty raises. It gets insane when you get to the higher difficulties, but that's where the item drops come in. This is how you build your character up into a powerhouse, but what items you get and the rarity of them is random, same as any other rogue-like. Some runs are made or broken based on the RNG you get, but that's part of what makes these types of games so addictive. The devs actually added these artifacts into the game in an update which change how it plays quite drastically, and one of them lets you pick what item you want based on its rarity (that part's still random). That helps with a lot of the trophies as you no longer have to solely rely on the RNG being merciful. Being able to pick your builds makes the game easier as a whole too, although it's still far from being a cakewalk, especially going for the trophy that requires you to beat 20 stages in a row. No matter how good your build is, late-game enemies can still one-shot you or turn off your ability to heal for a few seconds, so you're still very vulnerable. It took quite a few attempts to finally clear 20 stages in a row for the trophy. However, I'd take that any day over the trophy for killing 20 hermit crabs by chasing them off the edge of the map. For a day or two, this trophy was the bane of my existence. You can only get this on one of the game's maps after looping (getting past stage 5), and it's totally random what map will show up. I spent an entire session attempting this, but the game simply refused to give me the map on the runs where I made it past stage 5. A lot of the time I even got past stage 10 and it still wasn't appearing, and by then the game starts getting pretty difficult, so I had to restart a lot when I inevitably died. Even when I did finally get the stage, it's a pain in the ass to actually find the enemy you want, and killing 20 of them by chasing them off the edge of the map is a lot. I finally got it done, but seriously, fuck this trophy. Rant over. ? Despite some frustrations, I still had a ton of fun with this game overall. Thanks to my buddy @Redgrave for playing it with me and helping me out with that crab trophy despite already getting it yourself. You're a real one. ? #440 - Eiyuu Senki - The World Conquest The Master of the World Obtained all trophies. So this is a strategy JRPG with a healthy dose of visual novel mixed in. As the name suggests, your task is to invade and conquer all of the countries on Earth. Each country is ruled by famous figures from history like Alexander the Great, Julius Caesar, etc, with some mythological characters thrown in too. The twist is though that they've all been gender bent and are now hot anime girls. ? When you take over a country, the heroes you were fighting against end up joining your team. You as the main character are basically accumulating a harem. I did mention that this is a JRPG. ? There's over 70 different characters you can get in your roster which is actually pretty impressive because they all have good designs and voice acting. The PC version actually had sex scenes and some nudity with one of the character portraits, but unfortunately that's not in the PS3 version as you would expect. Still, there's plenty of sexiness here to enjoy. ? The overworld view (or whatever you want to call it) makes it look like a Civilization game, but it's not anywhere near that complicated. You don't manage your cities or anything like that. You basically just go through a list of main missions and side missions. Once you start getting further into the game, you do start getting to choose what country to invade first. Some are tougher to conquer than others, so there is a recommended order for the easiest time, but you're incentivised to go the harder route because you'll be rewarded with special challenge items if you do. If you take some of these though, it increases the difficulty of the game as a whole. I think it's a pretty neat way of selecting how difficult you want the game to be rather than just picking an option when you start a new game. As for the combat, it's actually rather simple. Both you and the enemy has a grid to move around in. The roster of characters you pick from have a diverse range of abilities, so it's all about choosing what characters to use together and who's attacks work best on the enemy in question. There's an accessory system in the game too which affects different stats, and that adds another layer of strategy. If you decide to go through the game picking the easiest possible route, you really don't have to think very hard. It's a breeze all the way up until the end-game. This game has a really simple trophy list. You have to get both the normal and true endings, but it can be done with a minimal amount of replaying stuff by making a save at the right point. There's a trophy for acquiring all the characters, and some of these have some pretty obscure requirements, so a guide helps with that. But the one trophy that brings this game from maybe a 2/10 to like a 6/10 in terms of difficulty is the one that tasks you with beating this optional end-game dungeon called Shambhala. This thing is pretty grueling and is a true test of your abilities. It has 9 floors in total. It's not a dungeon in the tradition sense as you don't explore it or anything. It's a series of fights one after the other. The first 8 floors have 5 fights in a row while the 9th floor has 10 fights in a row. "What's the big deal?" you might ask. Well, what makes this so tough is that you can't just bring your favourite characters and obliterate everything with them. Characters you used in one fight are unavailable for the rest of them, so that means you have to build up a ton of characters and use them all effectively. Since the last floor has 10 fights in a row, and you can bring a maximum of 6 characters into each fight, you need to make 60 of the characters strong. That requires a good bit of grinding as you can imagine. But it's not just that because you can end up screwing yourself if you use the best characters early on as it can make later fights unbeatable. I had to restart a floor on more than one occasion. But yeah, I wasn't expecting a game where you can breeze through the main story to have such a big difficulty spike like this. I am pretty glad for it though because it was a fun challenge and gave me an excuse to learn the mechanics of this game more intimately.
Popular Post No longer here
#185 - Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII - Reunion Enjoyment/Rating: 8/10 Difficulty: 4/10 Time: 40 Hours PSNP Rarity: 31.27% PSN Rarity: 5.5% I forgot to post this year so......the game was good and it was my first time playing the prequel since I never played it on the original PSP. The game's story imo holds up pretty well and has some emotional scenes that would eventually carry on to FFVII! The combat is kinda dated imo but it was pretty fun making an OP build, really makes you feel like Zack! The levels are linear and short and some of the minigames were pretty bad lol. However I think the quality of the story and materia fusion options make the game worth investing to. It is an old game so a lot of things will feel dated, however if you're a Final Fantasy 7 fan, you will definitely have fun with this! (Like I did).

Popular Post PotrikBerger
Need for Speed Unbound Anticipation Played Payback and Heat and enjoyed them both. Was initially a bit put off from afar by the look of all the animations etc so didn’t rush to play this. However, got as an Xmas pressie so jumped in earlier than I would have. 3/5 Enjoyment Really good fun. The animations were not an issue at all, didn’t take over the screen as I had perhaps feared, and the animated people worked really well I thought. In terms of gameplay and trophies, I enjoyed this much more than heat. Heat alone for that arbitrary lvl 50 crew grind kinda soured the game for me. This however felt like a breeze of an on-rushing car in comparison. The activities seem easier here than in the others....can’t really think of a single collectible or activity which caused any issue. Heat, again, had a couple of terrors. Also didn’t have to ever worry about tuning cars or set-up for anything. All very welcomingly simple. I’ll say it again I think....Really good fun. 3/5 Retrospect A couple of the online trophies could have potential to be a bit tricky, but with a boosting buddy it’s again all very simple. On the whole, might be the most enjoyable need for speed I’ve played yet. I know I enjoyed payback, but to be honest, I can’t remember too much about it now. I think this one will stand out in the memory a bit longer though, if not only for the slight twist in presentation. A nice addition for fans of the series. A very nice welcome for those who may never have played a need for speed before and interested in giving it a go. 4/5

Popular Post Darling Baphomet
199: Severed Steel Normally I post rarities with these, but as this game has only just gotten the patch that fixes its platinum, it's at 0%. The PS4 version is at 17% so I'll assume the PS5 one will land somewhere near there once it levels out. Anyway, Severed Steel is kind of like if Mirror's Edge and Superhot had a child and that child went on a drug fueled killing spree. It's a visceral first person shooter where every second you're not sliding, wall running, jumping, or diving at enemies is another step closer to your very quick death. Mobility and bullet time (which is unlimited during stunts) are the main things that'll be keeping you alive as you blaze through (sometimes literally, as every level is deformable and you have an arm cannon that can blast through walls) levels killing hordes of enemies to an absolutely fantastic electronic soundtrack. There's a shit ton of guns, enemies are satisfying to kill, and the campaign is nothing to laugh at. The visuals are a bit underdeveloped, but most of the levels managed to compensate for that with clean, neon visuals that don't particularly need AAA levels of detail. Also, currently the #2 achiever for this on PSNP! Have been staking out the Discord waiting for new for weeks now hoping to get into the first achievers, but unfortunately someone beat me to the update by 20 minutes, lol.
Popular Post disaster500
#60 Deathloop - 17.77% This was my first full-length PS5 game and platinum, and I picked a damn good game for it. I heard mixed things about Deathloop, from IGN calling it 10/10, to people calling it ridiculously easy and boring. I lean more towards the former I guess. The concept for the game is super cool, Colt and Julianna are great characters with perfect voice acting, the combat is fun (especially with PS5's triggers), the music is pretty good. Overall a great experience. The only 2 things I didn't like are the few menu bugs which softlocked me and the buggy Cleanish Hands trophy which I had to do 3 times for it to pop. Still, highly recommend Edited January 10, 2023 by disaster500

Popular Post Ala-Arska
Silent Hill: Book of Memories (PS Vita) (+100%) Hyperthymesiac Earn every trophy in the game Well...it's a game, alright. Silent Hill: Book of Memories is a Silent Hill product in name only. Horror, creepiness, grotesque monsters, fog...gone like a fart in Sahara. Now it's an (almost?) endless hack 'n slash dungeon crawler, where after an hour you've seen it all. Then keep going for another 80 hours Combat is kinda awkward, dodging is laughable and insta/cheap deaths are around every corner. Therefore range weapons, especially the OP DLC weapon Princess Heart, are a way to go. Princess beats Butchers and Pyramid Heads 10/10. Loading times are abysmal to say the least. I must have watched a dozen movies during those (Police Academies are movies, right) In a weird, masochistic, way I still kinda liked the game every now and then. I'm used to worse grinding in RPGs, so getting to max lvl 70 and collecting all items was no big deal. With one exception, SH: BoM would be a semi decent recommendation for playing casually every now and then and getting everything that way. That exception is Multiplayer trophies! Getting 4 players online for a decade old Vita game is just as painful as it sounds. Eventually those trophies were tackled and aced, many thanks to patient co-players @WARLOCK1972, @Sqigley, @the_sundstrom and @Kiwicrash You can get those trophies with ad-hoc too, apparently. If you can afford 4 Vitas and 4 expensive copies of the game! Overall, avoid if you want anything Silent Hill-esque. Get it, if you have low, low expectations and are glutton for punishment

Popular Post Redgrave
#269: Now THIS is podracing - Star Wars Episode I: Racer Coming straight from the Outer Rim to the finishing line is yours truly ? I had this on the N64 but I don't remember playing it much apart from crashing a lot. Playing it today I expected the game to not have aged very well but I feel it aged nicely. The controls feel really great and precise which is what I like if I'm going to be racing in any game. I think the best way to describe it is I felt like I really did have control over how hard I want to turn corners and such which is usually my gripe when it comes to driving or racing in games. It basically felt the way I liked it and despite it being an N64 game I would have expected it to not handle the best at least. Like the title suggests it's a game that's based on the podracing scene in The Phantom Menace but instead of just the Tatooine race track there's a variety of worlds that I forgot about. I mainly remembered the ice one since I thought it was Hoth when I played it as a kid but I was surprised to see the water world, jungle/lava world, Cloud City like world, prison world, and the mining world all with their own introductory cutscenes which I thought was cool too. Each world/track felt unique from the others and some had their own gimmicks like the prison world (Oovo IV) had anti-gravity segments that were cool to go through. Along with that you can play as other racers too that were shown in The Phantom Menace as well as a couple others I don't recall them being there. However through out all but one race I played as Anakin where he would unfortunately crash at high speeds and ironically enough would crash in the lava segments on one of the harder maps. Truly foreshadowing at its best. I think the other thing that made it interesting to me was how this game and pretty much every other Star Wars game that came out during the prequels feel kind of like a time capsule. Not only of the time period of games they were made in but in the sense of how all these worlds and characters were before, during, and after each prequel movie came out. It was interesting seeing all these things that were being added to the Expanded Universe stuff and the greater canon with each movie and game that came out. It's basically a marketing thing in the end, but there was this energy about it that I can't quite explain and that's what made these games and the movies they are based on so special to me. It also wouldn't be a game based on the prequels without Duel of the Fates playing like this game does in the main menu and a few of the harder races ? The trophies aren't difficult at all. I think the only one you have to kind of go out of your way for is buying all the best parts but I assume you could just get that without thinking about it as long as you set the win settings to Winner Takes All. Despite that this is a pretty forgiving racing game to where if you crash you often just spawn back where you died or sometimes ahead of where you died. None of the tournaments are particularly hard as long as you make sure you're upgrading. The only racetrack that gave any frustration was the one called The Abyss which was frustrating on its own because it has a thing really early on where if you fall down on the second level you're pretty much screwed and have to restart the race because you won't be able to keep up with the people that stayed on top. The other thing with it is something that I feel like was some odd programming. There are a couple jumps that feel very inconsistent. Two of these jumps can just decide to kill you for some reason, and the other can make you undershoot a jump which causes you to die as well. It was very strange and annoying because it felt like a cheap death as opposed to accidentally crashing. This was the only race in which I played as another character named Bullseye since apparently his pod had better turning. Outside of that all the other maps can be tricky but doable. #270: All Cleaned Up - Back 4 Blood For a long time I had wanted to play Left 4 Dead but I didn't have an Xbox 360 or a good enough PC to play it so when I saw that the original creators wanted to make another game like it I was on board. Unfortunately the game did have a rough start but when I played it, it was a good game and it only improved on updates from there. It's actually pretty crazy how much they have changed the game now even from when I played it and so seeing footage from when I started and even before to seeing the game now just feels weird because it's almost like looking at a completely different game. On top of DLC maps with new enemies and characters they have also re-worked a few of the characters to where they are completely different than when they were released. People talk about how No Man's Sky or something had a revival but it feels like no one talks about this which is a shame because it feels like they really did bounce back from the initial release into something that feels like an evolved (I don't mean that as a joke because I know they made Evolved too) form of Left 4 Dead. It's got the same setup as Left 4 Dead with the group of survivors fighting infected but with the card system and the different abilities of each character where you can make a deck for a certain playstyle makes it feel like you get a different experience every time you play it. I think the only thing that it kind of lacks in is the characters don't have as much charm as the ones in Left 4 Dead. Not to say they are bad but they don't have as much memorable banter or back and forth as the Left 4 Dead cast. But that said, each character has their own kind of playstyle and deck build you can make for them and so I think that makes up for it. Plus it seems like the devs actively do listen to feedback and so now with the DLC maps there is a lot of map and enemy variety in the game now so there is a ton of content that more than makes up for the shortcomings the game may still have. When it comes to the trophies the misc stuff is pretty simple to do and the collectibles are easy to find if you follow a video. The real challenge comes from beating the game on Nightmare difficulty and now with the DLC out I feel like Nightmare is actually somewhat more difficult now because the base game will also have the DLC enemies thrown into the mix and some of the DLC enemies can be a real pain especially if they wind up being armored. Probably the worst one are these guys with claws that can cause a bleeding effect. I guess to counteract the game being harder the devs made the bots better but even then I feel like it would still be a challenge especially for some levels. If you don't have enough friends to fill in all the slots then it's definitely best to play with however many friends you have and just let the bots be the last player(s) because randoms are a mixed bag but mostly bad. I could write a novel with all the bad random experiences I've had but to sum it up it's mostly people that either don't communicate, run off on their own and get killed, friendly fire too much, act like they are pros but wind up being the worst player on the team, they expect you to read their mind and follow their lead, don't know how to play their characters, or all of the above. 1 out of 20 times you might get one guy that's competent enough but it's far and few between. If you aim to 100% the game then you're in for an even harder time because the DLC's require you to play on No Hope difficulty and the name of it isn't much of an exaggeration. You pretty much need a good coordinated team to stand a chance and even if you do your best the game could just as easily throw something your way that puts your good run to a stop. But when you do a good run and manage to complete it, it feels really good and you're left wondering what kind of butterfly effect happened that you or someone else did or didn't do that caused you to win in the end ? No Hope is very brutal and unforgiving but when you manage to do it you feel like you really mastered the game. This Platinum also took me almost 5 months to do not because of the difficulty trophies but because of the Good Riddance trophy which requires you to get 53,600 kills which you think would come naturally but it didn't for me probably because I mostly played as Doc where I had to heal people most the time since if I'm not playing Doc then either no one else is or they aren't playing it right and in the end everyone dies anyway because no one was getting healed on the harder difficulties. I probably could have gotten the kill trophy sooner but I waited on the DLC's coming out to see if it would unlock during one of those but by the time I did everything in the main campaign and the DLC's I still had over 19,000 kills to go ? Thankfully I found a good kill farming method and I managed to complete it in a couple days. All that said it's a very good game and I highly recommend it to anyone wanting a co-op horde shooter since every playthrough will feel different in some way or another. I also want to thank @Undead Wolf for going through this brutal but rewarding journey with me long with the very few randoms that were actually trying to play as a team ? I hope to see Back 4 Blood 2 and hopefully improvements to the few shortcomings this game has.
