The puzzles are not very difficult, but they are all brilliantly designed imo with how you swap back and forth between the 3D world and your shadow counterpart, completing tasks in each realm to help your counterpart advance. And arguably the best part of the game is the music. It has one of the best soundtracks for a game I’ve heard. Each song has a twin instrumental recorded for each character, so the music has this really neat way of seamlessly switching between softer, ambient tones, and more intense and uplifting beats on the same track as you swap back and forth between characters/realms. The whole soundtrack is really haunting and sad and adds a lot of atmosphere and emotional depth to the story. $4.99 is a steal for this.
Popular Post StraightVege
Wake Up! #317 Having now experienced Dreaming Sarah and the similarly solid Sagebrush, I'm thoroughly convinced that Ratalaika-published titles can amount to more than just another easy platinum. This compact, side-scrolling budget adventure features some lite platforming and puzzling throughout various surreal dreamscapes, with the ultimate goal of rousing Sarah from her unconscious state. Exploring these illusory worlds has Sarah collecting a number of seemingly mundane items that allow her to make further progress—like an umbrella which provides a means of gliding over gaps, and a magnifying glass to shrink herself, granting passage through narrow tunnels—all the while completing a series of disconnected, illogical tasks that could only make a lick of sense within the context of a dream. As an example of the sort of logic we're dealing with here: at one point, you're asked to locate a missing snail dentist, who happens to be trapped inside a vending machine, so he can gift you his watch, which is then used to slow time enough for Sarah to bypass some moving spike obstacles. Certainly strange, yet somehow more reasonable than most of my deranged dreams! Indeed, this game adeptly captures the sheer madness of dream logic. Several areas involve falling vertically as the screen wraps, which I found mildly frustrating to navigate, but it wasn't a huge hindrance, to be fair. Also, an item called "The Pill," supposedly intended to warp Sarah back to the starting screen, didn't appear to function properly for me. Thus, I was forced to save and quit whenever I wanted a quick exit; a slightly annoying bug. There's little else I can think to gripe about, however. If all you're after is some quick trophies, the game is over in the blink of an eye, lasting less than an hour. Notwithstanding, it deserves significant praise for being legitimately interesting and creative, the visually appealing pixel art, and a surprisingly good soundtrack. Additionally, although I'm afflicted with chronic gamer brain, and the constant urge to cleave through stuff with a sword, I'll give Dreaming Sarah credit for being among the few games of this type with the courage to forgo combat altogether. Got more than I expected for half a buck! Fair warning, the platinum screenshot is an ending spoiler. Spoiler

Popular Post Umdytr
Just completed Steins;Gate Elite. When I first marathoned the anime over a decade ago, I was excited and emotional all the way through. When I played the original visual novel a few years ago, I was more emotional still and even teared up profusely during a certain scene. This time, I was pretty much bawling my eyes out constantly. It's exceedingly rare for me to find a work of fiction so engaging that it actually gets a bigger reaction out of me every time I revisit it rather than the other way around. I fucking love this story so much.

Popular Post Elvick_
Platinum #262 & Platinum #263 Ben 10: Power Trip (PS4 & PS5) Different icons... why? I'm not sure which I hate more. I guess at least the PS5 has Ben in it? And while it's the same art as the banner, it's got a different background at least... but it cuts off aliens so looks cheap as hell. But the PS4 is silly, why? The rest of the icons are fine, but the platinum, the ultimate trophy is some bland nonsense? I get they don't want to invest much in one platform's one trophy icon, but come on. (though sometimes the platinum is put on Steam achievements, Ben 10 - the other Outright Games game for the series - had it but it was glitched so now it has been removed). Anyhoo... The game is a huge mixed bag, but let me preface this to say that both versions are glitchy enough that I'd never recommend either. I like a janky licensed game and I can forgive quite a bit as I know the developers generally have a very strict, tight timeline to make these shovelware games and get them out the door. But, this game falls so short in the stability that I can't stand it. More on that in a bit. The game is open world, which is a stark contrast to the prior game which was level based. The prior game had more Aliens, and it was cellshaded and imo looked way nicer. It was also a lot shorter, but it was far more polished overall. (though to be fair the PC version had quite a few additional issues; yes I played through it on two platforms I had that much fun with it). After a tedious slog that is Biomutant's open world, I was very against the idea if you've seen my status updates you may have seen that. And first impressions weren't good. By the end, I could see some merit. Largely because the open world is actually relatively small. And in theory it's quick to move through. Which leads me to some of the performance issues of the game on each platform.PS4: The PS4 version is a nightmare to play quickly. An open world generally involves going places and tracking things on a map, right? Well the same is true of this game. However on base PS4 at least, the game's map takes 8+ seconds to load up. Well, technically the entire menu takes that long to load. But it initially goes to the map. It takes an additional 5+ seconds to close. Rough estimates of me going "1 Mississippi". This makes tracking down the collectables a tedious chore, particularly the ones NOT tracked by the game. :'D That's just bad game design. In addition to this problem, is the fact that if you move too quickly the game will freeze so it can load. I felt like I was back playing Sudeki walking through a mountain pass into a town. That was the first game I ever played that had such a thing on the original Xbox. Fitting as this game looks like it's from the PS2, just remastered.... for the PS3. Since it performs as well as Bayonetta on PS3. Slow menu loads and all. This makes doing all the typical open world shenanigans even more of a chore. By the end however, I could see merit in the overall product and what it was offering. As I mentioned before the world itself is actually small, and you can move quickly, but this version's issues really put a damper on even playing it. So I wanted to see how it would fare on the PS5, thinking it must perform better on there... and it's a debate on what is better or worse. I'll get to that shortly. The PS4 version also soft locked itself in a load screen for me one time. It was actually during quick movement, I figured it would be fine to just keep going fast and sit through "LOADING" on the screen. It just tosses text at you, no big deal. But one time it actually went black like a proper load screen and it was just stuck there. The load icon was spinning so the game wasn't frozen, I was just trapped. Had to close the game and reopen it. The trophy guide goes over this, but there are tracking issues with some trophies. I had the issue with skill points where it fails to properly register some. I was missing one in the end, but I thought I was missing 3 so did the solution early. Later realizing I forgot that I had three sidequests to finish up (collectables not on the map) and those gave me '3' skill points. One which didn't properly save. But, you just back up your save. Then load up the game, back out and start new then play the game until you can upgrade and then that can fix it. Do that as many times as needed. I also had the game crash after I beat the final boss. I beat him the little cutscene played, then the load screen came up and the game crashed. I died inside as the boss was annoying thinking I'd have to do it again. Only to be loaded in after the boss. The game itself had saved the progress, but the trophy hadn't popped. So I had to replay the entire game. Rushing through it took probably 3-4 hours, and rushing through it wasn't too bad tbh as you can skip a few things with movement skills and not fighting enemies makes things less tedious. Also a motivator to play the PS5 version... which we will now discuss.PS5: *sigh* The game freezes probably 95% of the time that there's any minor autosave. It's not even always autosave, I guess it just sucks too at handling open world in a new way, it's not saying it's loading but I've had the game crash and not save any progress after about a thousand of what I thought were autosaves. Maybe it's not your game saving but the backend of trophy info or something idk. Especially when you're rushing to complete the game this is so frustrating. The game crashed on me numerous times. Once on a boot up. :'D And the guide says you have to do all of the music things in one session (no closing the game) and I didn't want to expect that a patch had come that fixed it given it still runs like absolute shit because of the constant freezing. So I restarted my game. I've had to replay the intro sequence far more than I would have liked. The constant paranoia caused by save corruption and glitches is awful. There was significant slowdown that I thought my PS5 was going to explode or something. Certainly terrified the game was about to crash and I'd have to repeat whatever content I hadn't backed up yet at that point. I think two quests since I was feeling bold. Not so much after that, but thankfully I was on the last two quests before the end then. To better illustrate the freezes you are met with in gameplay constantly I decided to upload it to twitter, and uploaded the aforementioned slowdown/freezing whatever you want to call it. I never had ANYTHING this bad on PS4. It's absolutely insane! And my PS4 was making some massive noise too, yet never got this bad. I rarely care to upload stuff, but I'm just so mad. Spoiler Constant freezing; note that this ultimately was more annoying than the PS4 version and "you're going to fast for me to load" loading stalling gameplay. Hence no footage. By the end I learned how to guess when to slow down a bit and make it work, but on PS5 you're just stuck with this shit all the fucking time. Game wanting to implode Fitting that my PS5 platinum screenshot looks like my character is faceplanting [I rolled]. Sums up the whole game. Edit; PC version actually is fun. Has none of the same performance issues. From some reviews/threads on Steam still some achievement tracking but that's not a big deal in comparison to being a pain to play. GodKaio-Ken
On 11/23/2022 at 5:05 PM, Darghel said: #163 void tRrLM(); (Void Terrarium) Difficulty: Infuriating and frustrating Time to Complete: 33 hours Recommended: No Total score: 4/10 Oh boy, I'm gonna get beaten for this aren't I? Cause apparently this game does have a lot of love and praise, and I can see that too. But I can't deny that this game was way, WAY too frustrating for me to enjoy fully, and even with the help of the guide and everything it still didn't help that I was barely making it. Ok, first things first: Void Terrarium is a roguelite (hey thanks sis for telling me the difference between roguelite and roguelike!) and you're a robot named...Robbie? Well, you technically have no name but the AI calls you Robbie, and let's go with it. Together you find a human girl, the last one, and from there you decide to take care of her by giving her food, cleaning the house, taking care of her diseases and etc. Besides the caretaker aspect of the game, you'll be going in dungeons and from there you'll be going trying your best to get further and further so you can collect the materials request. And since this is a roguelite you'll always start from scratch, without anything except upgrades you took by crafting items and/or skills. And since this plays like a Mystery Dungeon game, every action you take means also the enemy will make an action, and so on and so forth. You'll have to take care of your energy, your health, and the perks that you unlock. And so far that's pretty easy, but once you'll go to your second or third dungeon, things get out of hand and the frustration begins. I only have 3 problems with this game, three major issues that didn't make it fun for me, and for whatever reason, I think they should've tweaked or made some improvements. Too. Many. Traps! Seriously! In literally every single corner of the dungeon, in every possible way, in every conceivable moment, a trap is there to ruin your time. Most of them are just a pain in the butt and are only there to frustrate you...and occasionally end your run because the game is evil. How evil is it you ask? I have, quite literally, got ambushed by a group of monsters, THE FIRST STEP I put into one dungeon. And somehow I survived but that was literally the first 10 seconds and I was already risking of dying! Other times also I had a trap locking me in place, making me unable to hit back, or how I spent an entire minute trying to hit an enemy because the trap confused me and didn't let me hit in the right direction! Or how one trap made me fall asleep...in the middle of MONSTER HOUSE! Or how a lagging trap literally killed me just as I was heading toward the teleported for the next level! AAAARGH! The only reason I managed to survive most of the time was because of my 95% damage reduction and the fact that Robbie was literally doing 1000+ damage per hit. I legitimately could not believe what was happening because of these bloody traps! And yes I'm aware that there are MODs like anti-gravity that will basically make you immune...but those are drops which means it's random. And I'd rather use osmosis which at least scales with your attack. And the worst thing of all? ENEMIES DON'T TRIGGER THEM! Isn't it fair when enemies walk over traps, but only you can trigger them? GRRRRR! Too. Many. Status effects! Just like there are too many traps, there are also far too many status effects...from the enemies! And they can stack too, of course! I lost count of how many status effects I had on me, especially those enemies that are on the other side of the room, spamming "whatever" and putting me in perma-lag. Oh yeah, the status effects are some of the worst I had: status effects like Lag or Confusion (called glitch here) are most likely gonna get you killed because they practically allow you to get hit, or make you never hit the target. And of course, there are no counters or protections against these status effects because that would be very fair and make a good challenge! Did I mention there's a status effect that LITERALLY drops your item on the floor? Your moonstone you spent hours farming to get? Make sure to get it before you forget or buh-bye moonstone (thankfully it didn't happen to me but I can see it happening to some!). Ah and make sure you don't get hit by the mice because they steal your stuff. Including items like moonstone. Isn't it nice?! Too. Much. RNG! Hold on, I know what you're saying: these kinds of games are all about rng, it's all about adapting and making sure you get through the end with what you got. And you're correct, and you even have the ability to customize your character in order to get more benefits and more chances to get better skills right away, such as canceling skills or having 3-4 skills appearing at once. And with some time, you can get a good build that can carry through the dungeon with not many troubles. But let's be honest here: it's still too random to be fully sure you'll make it out alive without issues and unless you grind some blueprints to get some extra starting stats, you'll probably going to struggle very easily and very early on. Even with the guide telling me what to do and what perks to bring or cancel, I still have to actually GET the right perks to make it work right and those can appear right away or never (On my last dungeon run, I still hadn't the perk to reduce damage x item, so I could still die if I wasn't careful despite managing to one shot most enemies). In many of the early runs, you'll suffer from the RNG like crazy. Many runs were abruptly over because of the previously mentioned points: a trap blocking you or making you lag or confuse, missing every attack, or not being able to attack fast enough and you die. Or some sneaky enemy pulling you in, stunning you because of a trap, alongside a bug enemy that once killed will leave a large poison area that while it also damages the enemies, does the most damage to you (of course it does!). Because of the RNG I just never felt I was able to learn much or was being somewhat challenged because I was just lucky to get the right perk at the right time and get through. If I didn't I'd most likely lose, and even with 14-15 cancel points I still had some struggles. Even stats upgrades are random! If you want to increase your starting hp or attack or defense you need to find the blueprint in the dungeon - and pray to God a mouse doesn't steal it - and then bring it home and craft it! Everything is random in this game and it's really hard to make progress when you barely have any control on what you can upgrade. Case in point, I really tried my best to get something out of it, but I just think this game is far too frustrating to be enjoyable. And there's a difference between hard and frustrating: hard is when a game is demanding your maximum attention and you're forced to play at the best of your best, making you progress slowly but steadily. But a frustrating game is one that, no matter the attention or time you put in, a single mistake will make you go back in progress and essentially make everything you did so far in vain. You learned nothing, you gained nothing, and you just wasted your time. And I often times felt that way in this game. If you're curious about this game, and I do mean REALLY curious, I'd recommend it only if you have a lot of patience, and if you don't mind getting beaten very often. Trophy-wise the game isn't too hard at the very least - thankfully! - but it will take you a good chunk of time, especially the level 50 grind. Hey, at least no endless dungeon requirements so that's good for me! And the story is...Uhm...yeah, I don't really know, there isn't much of a story and I think that's fine. It's the least of your problems I'd say. I really wish I couldn't be so harsh, but the game was harsh on me so I can't really be fair when the game wasn't. And while I admit that I'm kind of a newbie on this kind of game I did ask for my sister, who has played a crapton of Mystery Dungeon games before me, and she did comment on how the game feels very hard, especially when you can't bring items the hub or how "your hunger is also your mana, no wonder it's hard". Also, the actual hunger from the girl being an additional timer, on top of your energy, forces you to be speedy if possible and to get the food whenever you can - possibly without contamination, or else you'll infect the girl! I will say this, and the only positive thing I can think of this game: it's a good game, I don't think it's a bad one, and definitely not bad. But I do think it's a very frustrating game and it could've used a few tweaks and QoL options (like a bank for items that aren't just food, or some way to get food easy without contamination for instance) to make the experience a bit better. If you think you can enjoy this, give it a shot, and don't let my rant stop you. To me, this game is just frustrating but not bad. And that's all I can say. Somehow you made this game sound incredibly fun while ranting about its negative aspects lmao i want to try it, but if I do I'm locked into getting it to 100% unless I just try it on my side profile first. Anyway my latest Plat was Adventure Time: Pirates Of The Enchiridion. It was actually kind of fun. I did it because it was in my backlog at a very low completion % when I saw it was available on PS+ for free again. Currently working on finishing Cuphead. I need two main game trophies then the DLC.

Popular Post slender_adrian
#110 Difficulty: 4/10 Enjoyment: 9/10 Grind: 4/10 Time: 191 hours Rarity: [Ultra Rare 2.2% / Very Rare 9.64% ] "Take your time." What a journey this was! 200 hours in and I truly enjoyed playing this game, although I have to say that this game story isn't a big deal neither are the characters, for me it felt very cliche and mediocre in a lot of moments, I mean if you are an anime watcher you probably saw that same character design over and over again, the biggest example of this is Ann which is a character I hate, she's the typical foreign blonde girl that's a model and its form a European country who's fathers are not around and that's pretty much and airhead, I wonder where I've seen this character before, my favorite characters are Mona and Ryuji they at least made me laugh, Yusuke was good too he's such a weirdo, and Akechi is pretty bad ass too, but most of the characters in this game are pretty lame and boring in my opinion and bosses are mediocre too, that's the type of stuff I don't like about this game. and there's a lot of this, but the true charm of this game is on it's style, OST and the combat. This game has a unique art style which combine with its incredible OST make a game totally worth of its 100+ hours of playtime, and I'll definitely recommend this game to anyone interested in playing a JRPG, of course if he had the time to do so. P5 is a great game, despite the things I dislike about the game P5 is still and incredible game and experience. The plat is very easy but as you can see is very lengthy, sure you can save a lot of time of you first playthrough but I ended up doing 2 playthroughs just so I can enjoy this game, plus I think doing 2 playthroughs makes things easier in a way, since on my first run I wanted to get the P5 experience, this game is unique since the experience you get on you first run will be yours and yours only, that's what makes this game special! But as for trophies go, the trickiest one probably is maxing out the confidants and doing everything else that requiere a lot of scheduling, but making 2 playthrough makes this easier, unless you want to do everything on one go you can pretty much use a guide and be done with this plat easily, but personally that was to suffocating for me so 2 runs was my way. There's really not a particular hard trophy, all of them are simple to get, the one that might take some time aside from confidants and beating the game might be completing the compendium, but's that just menuing once you get the money to do so. This is a plat of 200 hours for me, I played on normal and it can be much less depending on your approach but surprisingly enough this plat is not a grindy one, I spent probably 3 to 4 hours getting money cap and farming Reapers for the compendium stuff, and that's the only time I farm or grind for something in this game (and a few hours on my first run because I was under level at the end hehe), so must of the time you'll just be playing the game and hanging out in the incredible streets of Akihabara, Shinjuku, and Shibuya. And that's it for the original P5 totally enjoyed going for this plat and the best part of getting this plat is seeing Persona 5 Royal trophy list!!! (By the way seeing my country's coffee being explained by Sojiro made my day lol and the best waifu is Takemi) The Persona Platinum Journey has just begun!
