Lars
#51: Monster Jam Battlegrounds After my 50th on friday i decided to play an easy game from my backlog. This one is very easy, only one challenging event. But not very fun either, the monster truck controls are very strange. Most of the game is sidescrolling, more like a trials game. Only the stadium events are in a open space. Difficulty: 2/10 Enjoyment: 4/10
Popular Post madbuk
Haven't posted here in a long time (last post was #111, I think?), so I thought it's about time I at least post one platinum. #138 – Transistor Overview Transistor is an indie action role-playing game. As you progress through the game, you level up and gain access to Functions to help you out in combat and Limiters to help you level up even further – but at the cost of combat becoming harder. The story revolves around Red, and a blade which she gets at the start of the game, called a Transistor. Transistor will narrate the entire story as you progress, and the bond between the two characters will strengthen noticeably even though Red doesn’t speak a single line of dialogue. The Good The combat in Transistor has a lot of depth to it. You will constantly get new Functions as you level up, and each Function has multiple uses – it can provide a passive upgrade to your character, it can be something you attack with, or it can be used to upgrade the Functions you are attacking with. Each Function will take up a certain amount of MEM (between 1-4 MEM per Function), so you will need to be strategic as to which Functions you take into battle with you. Everyone will have a different play style, and the Functions in Transistor will allow for this. This encourages experimentation every time you get a new Function, which keeps the game fresh all the way through. You can approach the combat in two different ways – you can play it in real-time and try to kill enemies as they attack you as well, or you can use a feature called Turn() to freeze time and then plan out moves. Once you unfreeze time, Red will carry out all the moves you have set without any enemies being able to hit her. However, Turn() will need to recharge every time you use it, and you cannot use any Functions until it is ready again (unless you use an upgrade, that is – but until New Game +, you can only use this upgrade on one Function). This adds to the strategic feeling of the gameplay, as you will need to make quick decisions to decide if Turn() is worth using and leaving yourself vulnerable until it recharges again, or whether it’ll be ideal to play in real-time. The other key component to combat is Limiters. These will make combat much harder, especially if you use multiple at once, but they also increase the amount of experience you gain, ultimately meaning you level up quicker. Limiters will do things such as increase the damage that enemies deal, increase the amount of enemies that spawn, cause Functions to overload (which makes them unusable for a certain amount of time) if you change them at a terminal, etc. These help keep the game from feeling too easy by offering an optional increase in difficulty, at the benefit of greater rewards. The soundtrack was also very fitting and memorable. There are 23 tracks, and they’re all great quality. The Bad While at first, the combat is enjoyable and strategic, it quickly becomes quite unfair if you do not have the correct Functions. Red moves slow. Really slow. This means that if you do not have any Functions to speed you up (Jaunt() being the ideal Function for this), you really have very little chance of survival. And the problem is, Jaunt() is really the only Function to help avoid this – you can use other Functions in passive slots to help reduce the time Turn() takes to recharge, so you can safely enter Turn() and then heal with Tap() quicker, but even so, Turn() still takes a while to recharge, and you’ll probably be dead after three or four Turn()s even if you do use Tap() to heal. This ends up making the game feel very unbalanced, especially during the optional Performance tests that you can take part in to gain extra experience throughout the game. The story also felt rather generic, although the terminals scattered around the city do help to flesh the story out a little more by adding more to the lore of the game than if you were to just go straight from point A to point B. The Trophies The trophy list in this game is fairly straight forward. You will need to do two playthroughs, although the second playthrough is a breeze because you can carry over all of your Functions from the first playthrough. You will need to use every Function as a passive upgrade, a weapon upgrade, and as an attack, which encourages you to experiment and experience many different Function combinations. You will also need to use the Limiters for a few fights, although this can be done long after you have every Function, so it won’t pose any problem. Popular Post Omar
#83 - Gravity Rush Remastered It's all Relative - Collected every trophy. Congratulations! .Achieved: March 6th, 2016 .PSNP's RS: Uncommon .Difficulty: 2 .Enjoyment: 9 What a breath of fresh air! I am so late to the party here, but I have a valid explanation for that. Ever since Gravity Rush was included in PS Plus' lineup, I knew it'd end up taking the leap towards PS4 because (sadly) the Vita was not going to be enough for the buzz the franchise got. So I waited, and my wait made sense, because the game indeed took the leap, and I now enjoyed it on a big screen! I probably approved Kat 15 minutes into the game, such a likeable protagonist! The mechanics are really interesting and the game is fun and engaging all the way through. However, (as usual) it fails to offer a challenging experience. There are tons of missed opportunities with the gameplay mechanics at hand, so I really hope Sony Japan Studio takes Gravity Rush to the next level with the sequel, and offer a full, varied and challenging package. All in all, I loved the game despite its easiness, and I'm now up on the Kat & Dusty hype train!

Popular Post Major_Kiba
#107: Reality Fighters Beat Reality Fighters Now I'm no expert on fighting games but this didn't seem like a particularly good fighting game. I didn't have any real fun playing this game and it just seemed kind of boring. I guess it was a good thing that it was an easy and fast platinum. Also the trophy images for this game are almost as bad as the Just Cause 2 images.

Popular Post Dragon-Archon
#137: Life is Strange Let me start with this: the trophy images are horrible. This game starts out very interesting with Max having a nightmare about a huge tornado destroying everything around her. After waking up in class, Max finds out she can rewind time and saves her best friend Chloe from being shot. Chloe has been looking for her friend Rachel, who disappeared 6 months ago. During the next few episodes Max and Chloe work together to figure out what happened to Rachel, while dealing with several problems. What I liked about this game is the ability to rewind time and check out other choices. Sometimes it's even necessary to rewind time to solve puzzles or use new info during conversations. The first four episodes are imo very good, but the last one feels like the developers ran out of ideas. There's a long part about a nightmare/broken reality that drags on for way too long. Popular Post AJ_Radio
So it's been a bit since I've posted but since one of the two platinums I've achieved is the same title for a different platform I think it is fair that I have at least one "new" platinum to boot. #14: Taco Master Difficulty: 2/10 Enjoyment: 6/10 Unlike all the other games tied to my profile, this game I just bought outright looking at other peoples forum profiles. Nintendo portable consoles never truly convinced me to fully go and buy one, and the PSP didn't seem all too great of a portable console for me to consider buying. The Playstation Vita is and might be my first and only portable game console, unless the industry truly designs a console powerful enough to hold dozens of games, at least games you find on the PS3. That being said, Taco Master is the first indie game I've played through entirely and I must say it was enjoyable. Right from the start the game shows a sense of humor and flavor, the simple cutscenes lead you into the gameplay. The entire game is based on making tacos and nothing else. No enchiladas, no burritos, no rice and beans, nothing. Just about all of the levels are easy, the first several are designed to only make simple tacos. Of course like most games the higher the level and the further you progress, the more you have to consider. Orders start out simple, but gradually become more demanding. On level 1 you just make one taco per order. By level 30 of Career Classic, you can have an order of seven tacos, four of which are different types. There are two types of salsa, there are four types of meat (or fish if you're playing Tropical Fury), and there is the lettuce (not sure exactly since the game never specified what). Orders also come by quicker, and since the game mainly uses the touchpad feature, your fingers have to be a little quicker. If you happen to be an older person (and I'm not sure why anyone 40-50+ years old would spend their time playing this game) then this can be a lot of trouble, but for me I had no problem. Getting the 30 combo multiplier trophy takes practice, but certain levels only give out simple taco orders, so you don't have to worry about adding salsa and lettuce to the tacos, as that usually kills your combo. The multiplier builds up by being quick with the orders, by being two seconds too slow your combo is reset. Not bad really but it takes practice to get good at it. Time Attack Mode is simply levels you already played in Career Classic, but instead of finishing orders of several tacos you are given one taco to make at a time. Anybody who finished Career Classic should of had no problem with Time Attack Mode. It's simply making 10, 50, 100 tacos in X amounts of minutes/seconds, in this case 50 seconds, 3 minutes, and 5 minutes for 10, 50 and 100 Rush mode respectively. Very easy to do, and it was nice for the game to give me an easy gold trophy for finishing 100 Rush mode. The only reason I gave the difficulty a 2 out of 10 is because of Tropical Fury. It's very much like Career Classic, only you're making fish tacos instead of regular ones. A few levels in (there are 30 levels in both Career Classic and Tropical Fury), crabs start to invade your taco stand. You simply remove them by touching them with your finger on the touchpad. Later on more crabs will start spawning and thus the difficulty gets a tad bit harder. Some crabs have shells on them and you have to click on them twice, otherwise it's only once. Level 30 can be a bit frustrating because the game often asks you to make several different fish tacos, both with lettuce and salsa (or fish paste from how it looks) all the while having a whole bunch of crabs invade your space. Making five-six of these can take up a bit of time and another thing unique to Tropical Fury is you will get wet notes. These are orders that have been soaked in water (a brief cutscene will show this), so what the order asks is less legible than a regular order note. But they really aren't that illegible, because you can still see the order quite clearly. I had to grind out 1000 crabs, not as long as expected but pretty unnecessary for a bronze trophy. Fiesta Mexicana is exactly the same as Career Classic, only difference being you can use peanuts to drag them to the orders, because numerous orders will show up in later levels and it's quite easy to screw up. Orders will start to vibrate violently when you dawdle too long, and eventually you will lose that order. You can afford to lose a few because the game doesn't ask you to finish every single order to get a gold medal for a particular level. Eventually if you let too many orders slide you get an angry taco master (his name was never mentioned) who beckons you out, which I found a little funny. Sadly Zombie mode was never really considered for trophies, and since a lot of Playstation games equal 1230 points, the developers (or whoever is responsible for assigning trophies for certain accomplishments) could of added two-three trophies for this mode. Wasn't necessary by any means but it could of been nice. Nothing special or spectacular by any means, but a fun little game I enjoyed playing. Taco Master didn't take itself seriously and the cartoonish graphics make it feel geared to a younger audience. This is probably the easiest platinum I have gotten, although one may argue The Order: 1886 is just as easy but most of it's trophies involve killing enemies, which I feel is a slightly harder task than simply using your fingers to make tacos. Definitely pick up Taco Master if any of you want an easy platinum and you have a Vita.
Popular Post NetEntity
# 26: Danganronpa: Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls – Pragmatism's Last Reward Ah, Another Episode, the annoying thorn in my backside. So glad to finally be done with it. Actually, I was looking forward to playing it. It's Dangan, it's going to be great, right? I'll meet new and interesting characters, and see some returning ones, whom I will surely glad to see, right? I couldn't even think that this Guiding is going to be hard on me. And hard it was. Sure, the gameplay was competent enough, but Danganronpa functions best as a VN, not as a simple, short and painfully easy TPS - strip it of all story events, and there is not much left - poor murderous kumas aren't much of a threat even on Despair! Backtracking to get all collectibles and getting perfect 300 points on every chapter turned into a chore soon enough. But hey, the story and the characters are worth it.. oh wait. I wanted to feed my charge to Teddies... I mean Monokumas (damn you, the lack of Japanese voice track) by the time Chapter 1 has ended. I've utterly failed to connect or sympathize with the characters, be they villains or heroes. I just wanted to finish my task and get the hell out of there. Well, now I finally can! And as for this game... Edited March 7, 2016 by NetEntity
