Popular Post MeteorHawk
#77- ALONE IN THE DARK: INFERNO (PS3) 100% COMPLETE Enjoyment: 5/10 Difficulty: 2.5/10 (it would be 1/10 if the controls were better) Oh boy. This was a game I just had sitting around gathering dust for ages because I was afraid. Not afraid of the game's horror elements. I love horror. But afraid of how I would feel after I was done. I was a big fan of the original games, which did Survival Horror so well before Resident Evil was even a thing. I even loved The New Nightmare on PS2 even though I know few people who did. However, the terrible 2005 Uwe Boll film left a sour taste in my mouth and when I heard that a game was being developed to release alongside it (which never occurred, it was reworked to distance itself from that travesty) I was reluctant to ever return to the adventures of Edward Carnby. But a few months back, I popped this into my PS3 and gave it a go. Trophies glitched (don't download the patch before the disc data installs) and the controls were awful. The game tries to do too much at once, introducing too many gameplay ideas while not doing any of them very well. Which is a pity because the game had HUGE potential. Overall, I would be hesitant to recommend this game. An easy platinum if you can get around the godawful controls.

Jounochi
Platinum #94 - Senran Kagura Bon Appetit! (PSVITA) It is done and that is all that matters. Dumbest game that I've played in a while... and I played My Name is Mayo. The game would be okay if it weren't for some very noticeable screen tearing. That coupled with the fact that this is a rhythm game pissed me off really early on into this platinum.Song wise there is very little that I would call original. Each girl has their own song that you play, but the are generally songs and lullabies that are remixed. None of the songs were fun to play.Shitty time, but this is one of the reasons why I only played like three games on my VITA this year. I prefer them on console because they generally run better than their mobile counterpart.Game Rating: 2/10Platinum Difficulty: 2/10

Popular Post MStalker58
#123 LittleBigPlanet 3 Thanks to @Hemiak for helping me with the annoying co-op quest "Race to the Stars". Your patience in dealing with the online lag is much appreciated. My feelings on LBP3 are a mixed bag and similar to other games in the series. First, let's talk about the good. The offline single player campaign experience is a pretty fun platformer and has all of the charm you would expect from a LittleBigPlanet game. I really enjoyed some of the new features that Sumo Digital introduced but unfortunately these interesting ideas felt isolated and were abandoned for most of the game. For example, the new gadgets like Blink Ball or the Pumpinator were fun to use and provided some interesting platforming possibilities. However, they are only utilized in the level you obtain them and maybe a couple of minor appearances in that hub world or side missions. Other than that, they just disappear and aren't used for most of the game. This also happens with the 3 new playable characters. They are all fun to play as and were some of the best levels in the game. Unfortunately, you only play as them in a their specific level to unlock them and a boss fight immediately afterwards. There's only one side mission where you have to use all 4 characters abilities (more on that in a minute) and a couple of levels at the very end of the game that are broken down into individual sections for each character. I would have loved to play more as these new characters but they were forgotten for large parts of the game. Also, the campaign is really really short and most levels are quick and a breeze to ace until the very end. Still, it's a decent platformer and fun at times when you are actually playing levels. However, it wouldn't be a LBP game without a miserable online experience. Thankfully the developers removed most of the painful trophies from the past games. There is no annoying "Dive In" trophy, no heart whoring (), no 24 hours in create, none of that. The only part that requires online play (unless you have 4 controllers) is one little side quest in the campaign. The actual mission only takes a couple of minutes to beat but that is plenty of time to highlight how horrible the online in this game is. Just getting into a game with a friend was a chore with all of the disconnects and then the lag is absolutely horrible. There were times I couldn't even tell which character I was controlling. It is that bad and some of the worst lag I've experienced in a game. There's even lag in the menus and don't forget about loading screens that take minutes. And there are lots of loading screens. I don't think I've ever had fun for a single moment while playing online in any LBP game and LBP3 is no exception. I wish they would just get rid of it. Focus on the campaign and keep the create and community aspects, but stop trying to force online co-op play if you can't even make it function. Overall, the campaign had some bright moments but I'm glad to have this game finished. On a personal note, the plat got me to the #6000 trophy milesone! Didn't plan on having it be a milestone (didn't realize I was that close and was just going to have it be a random trophy from Mega Man Legacy Collection) but luckily it turned out that way and I'll take a plat for the milestone.
Popular Post Lowlliet
Ascension I just bought this yesterday... If I waited i could have downloaded it from PS+ but at least I supported the devs, right? It's a really great, fun & challenging game. You can see it's heavily inspired by Dark Souls or SotC. It's got similiar vibe and themes, so if you like those games like I do, go get it or at least download it from PS+. It's worth it even just for the OST.

Popular Post AJ_Radio
Been busy with family and life the past month. Almost forgot I earned six platinums in this time period so I figured why not post an update. # 50: Uncharted 4: A Thief's End (November 27th, 2016) Difficulty: 4/10 Excitement: 9.5/10 What a game. What an adventure. Five years from now when the PS4 will probably be on it's last legs as far as mainstream releases go (and games continue to get better and more detailed), Uncharted 4 will still be a must buy for any PS4 owner. This is the conclusion to Nathan's adventure. From beginning to end I felt this couldn't be more appropriate. What makes this game more fascinating for story lovers is the sequences of Nathan's childhood, and his strong relationship with his brother Sam. This was much better done than in Uncharted 3, this is a story of events unfolding during Nathan's early life. We learn his life long passion to pursue long lost treasure, even if Nathan himself gets none of it when everything is said and done. Simply put, I loved this game. The graphics are phenomenal, the set pieces and background settings are the most detailed and spectacular of any videogame I ever played. Naughty Dog proved themselves once more they are a powerhouse, and it's safe to say they are massively responsible for the success of the Playstation 3 and Playstation 4. Combat is what you can expect from an Uncharted game. Defeat a wave or two of enemies, experience some puzzles with Sam, Elena or Sully, then rinse and repeat. The puzzles are clever yet simple enough for most gamers to get through. They are one of the shining lights of the Uncharted games. Wonderful yet compelling. My only gripe, and the reason why I gave this a 9.5 out of 10, is the frequent freezing and slow loading times. When going for the speed run trophy last month I often had to back out of the game and start it over again because skipping cutscenes seems to cause problems when loading the game. This was annoying and tedious as I would finish a chapter or two, skip a lengthy cutscene and find my game stuck at 75 percent loading. Because of this it took me an extra 20 minutes of so to obtain the platinum, even with all the patches installed. Even with the slow loading times, Uncharted 4 is a game nobody should miss. This is the closest we have been to an actual movie, and a reminder of how far video games have come. Looking forward to the single player DLC next year. If it's anything like people said with The Last of Us, I'll be more than happy. # 51 - 52: My Name is Mayo (November 29th, 2016) Difficulty: 1/10 Excitement: 2/10 Not much to say here. We have arguably what can change how trophy lists are viewed. With a platinum so easy to obtain, it makes me wonder how this even got accepted as a game with a platinum. You click the jar of mayonaise 10,000 times, yes 10,000 times, you don it a bikini and other silly items, and you have the platinum. That's it. It's so stupid yet brilliant. I can literally name a thousand games with no platinum that are a thousand times harder than My Name is Mayo. *sigh* At least the music was soothing and relaxing. At least I can add this to my trophy collection, even if it's the most shameful platinum. #53: The Deadly Tower of Monsters (December 1st, 2016) Difficulty: 2/10 Excitement: 7/10 The first 'free' platinum I have for being a Playstation Plus member. Deadly Tower of Monsters is a big spoof of 1950s science fiction culture, literature and movies. You have your goofy hero, a vixen (because most 50s science fiction movies had at least one or two somewhat attractive women) and a robot. The first two movies that popped up to me while playing this game were The Day the Earth Stood Still, and Plan 9 From Outer Space. When it comes to pop culture references, Deadly Tower of Monsters doesn't fail to disappoint. Basically you have a director telling a part of his life story of a movie he directed over 50 years ago. His assistant occasionally makes a comment or two but you'll going to be listening to the director for most of the game. The goal is basically to climb up a long, tall tower to fight the villains the director and his film crew had made. Along the way you'll fight many monsters, much of which are a throwback to the old science films your grandparents probably grew up with. What's interesting here is the monsters, particularly the dinosaurs, move in the same fashion the dinosaurs did in the films. Before CGI, animating the set pieces and monsters took a lot of work, and film directors had to work off a much smaller budget, which resulted in poorly animated fictional sequences. This to me gave the game a sense of style, and a reminder that indie games can still be great without the multi million budget most AAA games have. Without spoiling too much, the game is short and easy. People should have no problem getting all the trophies in this game, the only difficulty here really is getting the various collectibles and having to figure out where to go to progress. I finished Deadly Tower of Monsters in just over a day playing just a few hours. Highly recommended if you're an old time science fiction fan. # 54: Grim Fandango Remastered (December 13th, 2016) Difficulty: 2/10 Excitement: 7/10 Grim Fandango Remastered is the newer version of a 1998 classic from LucasArts. You are Manny, a travel agent often blamed from his boss for various problems. Without saying too much, Manny has to rescue Meche, and ultimately the goal of the game is the reach the Ninth Underworld, the final resting place of the Land of the Dead. It is a point and click kind of game. Along the way you solve various puzzles, often with funny if not hilarious characters. There are Four Acts in the game, with each act moving the story forward by one year. At the beginning of each year Manny takes part in a specific role, with the goal being to move forward in order for him and Meche to finally reach the Ninth Underworld. The game is funny, taking notes from several of Lucasarts past games and putting them to good use. Going through inventory was a little bit of a hassle at times but nothing too frustrating. Assuming one is using a guide, Grim Fandango can easily be beaten in a few hours. It combines Aztec beliefs of afterlife with film noir like set pieces and settings, especially in the Second Act. I enjoyed the game and it's sense of style, but I understand it's probably not everybody's cup of tea. It is however, one of the better adventure games out there, and I recommend it for the easy platinum it provides, without being too boring. # 55: Red Dead Redemption (December 27th, 2016) Difficulty: 6/10 Excitement: 10/10 There are not enough good things to say about this game. Red Dead Redemption is without any doubt, my favorite game of the past generation. I'm sure thousands of others have said the same thing, but what is really notoriously bad about Red Dead? Nothing. There is nothing even somewhat bad with this game. It is brillant, it is the best example that Rockstar Games can do more than post releases of the next Grand Theft Auto game. It is Grand Theft Auto in the old west, a west that is dying by the invasion of modern life and technology. If I had the time I would play this game all over again on a new account. Even with the game feeling a bit aged on the PS3 and feeling not as grand as say Witcher 3, Bloodborne or Fallout 4, Red Dead is a game that should not be skipped. This is probably the first game I played where I felt both the single player and the multiplayer were simply fantastic. The single player focuses on John Marston as he tries to eliminate old gang members in the hopes that he will return to his family. However the multiplayer portion is a mish mash of fun, mayhem and good execution. I can talk all day on how many companies release games with a tacked on multiplayer, or a tacked on single player. There is no balance and basically what these companies are saying is they couldn't care less about the single player or multiplayer, but are putting it in anyway because someone would complain if they didn't. Not here. Rockstar does it right with Red Dead Redemption. You can choose to Free Roam or if you're feeling the itch, play in competitive matches. You can play the single player portion, knocking out the single player missions or you can play the Undead Nightmare DLC. There is lots of content to be had, and it's a shame a great portion of it on multiplayer is almost entirely ignored. Trophy wise, this game can be a challenge. Since Rockstar no longer supports the Social Club due to Gamespy's closure in 2014, it can be a little aggravating to figure out what you need for 100 percent completion. However the stats pages in-game can help out, so it's far from being very difficult. As for multiplayer trophies I poured over 150 hours into them, and at the time I didn't even care for trophies much less know they were even there. They are definitely doable, and I'm probably going to spend the next few days knocking out a few more DLC multiplayer trophies before moving on. I want to say so much more about Red Dead Redemption, but I can't really because everyone else has already said it all. In short, I spent 45 hours in the single player base game, 11 hours in Undead Nightmare single player, and roughly 200 hours in multiplayer. That's 256 hours total I put into Red Dead Redemption, more than any other console game I have. Having invested a lot of time, I felt it would be a great disservice to not go for the platinum. It is also my first ultra rare platinum, and probably my proudest platinum. A huge accomplishment and a big milestone for me. I would be insulting Red Dead Redemption if I gave it anything lower than 10 out of 10. With the sequel coming out in the Fall of 2017, it's only going to get better. Red Dead Redemption is definitely up there with my favorite games of all time. If you don't have it, get it. You won't be disappointed. Big shoutout to Spdan89 for helping me with the Assist trophy, and Torracat83 for some of the co-op DLC trophies. Popular Post FluffyAssassin64
#59 - Ratchet & Clank "The Hero of Heroes" Collect every trophy in Ratchet & Clank I've been a massive fan of the Ratchet & Clank series for as long as I can remember. As I kid, I had the original games on PS2, and I absolutely loved them. Even now, I would say that'Deadlocked' (or 'Gladiator' here in Australia) and 'A Crack in Time' (recent one) are some of my favourite games. There's just something inherently fun and satisfying about these games. Yes, they all follow a similar structure, with crazy weapons, wacky characters, death courses, hover board races, and death-defying missions, but they're also just a blast to play. The humour, while sometimes childish, is also often quite hilarious too; read those Holocard descriptions people! This 'reboot' of the original for the PS4 is an amazing game. It looks astoundingly beautiful, the controls are precise and fun, the combat (on Hard at least) remains as rewarding and challenging as ever (I only died about 5 times in the whole game, though I am very familiar with the strafing/jumping etc required in these games), and the world-building, weapons and characters are just as well-done. I was never bored in the ~15 hours it took me to platinum this game, but rather looked forward to the next planet for that next sweet gun; even though I've done it all before. I love these characters and this world, and I'll play any future games in the series for sure. If you're looking for one of the most fun and polished action-platformed games out there, and don't mind the light and 'cartoony' tone, absolutely pick this one up. Enjoyment rating: 8.5/10 Plat difficulty: 2/10 (but play on hard if you like a challenge :P)
Popular Post TheFinalEmblem
Platinum #71- Shantae: 1/2 Genie Hero Hey, look, I'm a liar, just look a few posts up, haha. I honestly knew Stardew Valley being the last plat of 2016 was not going to be true, because when I play Shantae games, I play the hell out of them. I know they also aren't that long, but damn, they are some of the most fun I have playing games. The series always managed to top itself, and with DLC being released for this game sometime next year, adding new character stories to play, I hope more trophies will be added. Even if there isn't, I'm still gonna play them. I am sad that the Vita version isn't PSTV compatible, though, so I can't stack it... Oh well. Now I can say for a fact that Blanc + Neptune vs. Zombies will be my first plat of 2017. Before I start that, though, I gotta get started on the guides for this game.
