Popular Post DrBloodmoney
So I've gone on record many times on this site about how terrible I think Jak 2 was - ever since playing that piece of crap I hve never had any other game come close to it in terms of sheer unadulterated god-awefulitude. Well make way Jak, you horrible little pile of game.... We have a new winner! I liked Sly 1, but jeez louise, what happened?!? Almot every mission has instant fail states. The camera is actively working against you (its like the whole thing is being filmed by a stoned grandmother, who keeps getting distracted by random btits of background and forgetting to follow you). Im only half way through and ive already had to quit missions numerous times due to scripting fails. The writing is pathetic, the voice work unlistenable (I just mute the whole thing as silence is peferable) and all the cut scenes and dialogue are UNSKIPPABLE!! The missions contantly require you to walk all the way back to a hideout to change character, which involves numeros loading screens (and occasionally crashes) There appears to be no rhyme or reason to how far the enemies can see - sometimes they can see you from a mile away through 3 wals, other times you can stand right infront of them and they just stand there like lemons. Half the missions are aweful versions of other games (Parapa, turret sequences, chopper sequences, escort missions (cause everyone loves them right?)) I could keep going but im all angered out. I cannot WAIT to be done with this shit. What the hell happened with maacot games on the PS1? Why did both these good games get such radically changed in game type amd quality from the first to the second? And my main question - does Ratchet and Clank suffer the same fate? I have a copy of the R+C trilogy, but given the track record I have with these other mascot trilogies im thinking I should avoid even playing past the first one? 14
30 Year Old Boomer
Sly 1 and 4 are personally my favorites in the series but We got god damn Dimitri in sly 2!!!
Willstown
Yep the trilogy was pretty variable quality after paying Sly 4 first. I didn't hit any bugs in my playthrough. At least in Sly 2 you don't have to get all the collectibles. 3 was ok but suffers for similar minigame related stuff, the challenges irritated me (mostly the vault no respawn timed run... those lasers) The trilogy again on Ps3 would be a quick set of plats, but I can't face going through these again just yet.
Xxleonardo97xX
Besides all that crap you said, the final moments of Sly 2 imo are waay too agressive for a child to see and play: Bentley (the turtle) gets parapelegic
Popular Post Starrk_01
If you think Sly 2 isn't good, just wait until Sly 3 (more of the same). As for Ratchet and Clank, if you have enjoyed the first one, you will probably enjoy the rest of them since most of the gameplay does not change.
DrBloodmoney
Besides all that crap you said, the final moments of Sly 2 imo are waay too agressive for a child to see and play: Bentley (the turtle) gets parapelegic Oh my god, is that true?!?!? That is actually outrageous! I havent finished yet, but jesus fucking christ, that makes the voice work even less excusable, because that means that the game was NOT MADE FOR KIDS!

30 Year Old Boomer
Murray's the best character in the sly series. Plus he promotes overeating!
Popular Post Beyondthegrave07
I enjoyed the Sly games. I owned all 3 of them on the PS2. They are a little outdated in quality because they were originally made on the PS2 in its earlier life. With that in mind, you can't really expect too too much out of it. The only thing they really improved was the graphics. Expecting it to not have a few bugs or glitches would be a little naive if you ask me.
Joshu-Jixxu
Yeah, Jak II and Sly 2 were both pretty bad. Where Jak 2's main weaknesses were generic gameplay and an absolutely insane difficulty, Sly 2's weaknesses is boring, tedious, mission-based gameplay and being extremely repetetive. I have no idea why so many people like Sly 2, but maybe back in the Ps2 days it was considered good. I feel sorry for you playing through Sly 2. And no, Ratchet & Clank stays consistently good throughout the franchise (with the exception of All 4 One and Full Frontal Assault). R&C 2 has a wierd difficulty spike halfway through but it's nothing compared to Jak 2's difficulty, and R&C 3's gameplay is more that of a generic third person shooter, but other than that, the series is fantastic. Hemiak
Ratchet and clank is by far the most consistently good of these series. Although they do get a few more tweaks with each iteration, it's basically just more of the same. I even enjoyed the future games as well, although FFA is my least favorite. I personally agree with everything you said about Sly 2. I'll most likely never put the 3rd one in my machine, and only played TiT because of ps+. I'll never spend money or time on another Sly game. Plus. I absolutely cannot stand Bentley, and Murray is almost as bad. I personally think Jak 2 is the best in the series. I know it has some problems and major difficulty spikes but story wise and gameplay I think it's a huge step up from the first one, and one of my top 5 ps2 games.
Popular Post ShadowGandalf
I liked all 4 games. Yes, there is an element of repetition to them, but I still found them enjoyable to play, and I really like Sly as a character. As much as I disagree with a lot of what you said, I've always stood by the belief that people should be able to voice their opinions without being downtrodden by those who don't think alike. I liked it, you didn't, that's fair enough. ... Your choice of words in the title may a a bit too harsh though, I probably wouldn't have gone that far. You might be just angry at the moment, but I'm sure there are far worse sequels out there.

DrasticAutomatic
I think that Sly 2 is by far the best in the series. Sly 3 is rubbish though.
madbuk
Personally, I loved all 3 Jak games (1 the best), all 3 Sly games (1 the best) and all 3 Ratchet games (2 the best). Yes, Sly 2 has its issues. If you know the game, you can cut down time because you know Sly is the fastest character, so by doing his missions first, once you complete the other missions you'll be teleported to the safehouse, or there are some missions where you start as one character and finish as another (i.e start as Bentley, end as Sly) I've played all 3 games to completion (besides the Master Thief Sprints, because I really couldn't do those) multiple times, so I knew the fastest way. If you plan on doing these again on Vita/PS3 (depending on which you started) then you'll probably get through it a lot quicker. Also, I liked Sly 3 better than Sly 2. It's the same format, but I enjoyed the worlds more. As for R&C, 2 is a massive improvement upon the first game, and it is so, so enjoyable to play through. The trophies do require a bit of grinding, but it's nothing too bad Of the 3 series (Jak, Sly and Ratchet), Ratchet is imo the one that stayed most true to its origins.

hitman109109
sly 1 was meh in my opinion and some of the minigames were infuriating, namely the races and sub minigames. sly 2, 3, and 4 were alot more memorable and fun to me .

RoD_HiGo
Sly 2 was absolutely awful in my opinion, only game I've forced myself to finish on my list. It was way too long and boring and the camera and controls were way worse than in the first one somehow. It made me not want to play Sly 3 or 4.
JoJoBelfast
The camera was no different than the first games in my experience.. Anyway I dont know if you played Sly 3 yet but if you haven't, don't. Its Just Sly 2 but a lot longer, which was awesome for me.
BeautifulTorment
Ratchet certainly does not follow the same pattern as these other titles.
GoldenShaka
Well, i have to be agree about the game being boring, feeling as a chore, but from that to be aggressively terrible sequel ever is too much. I don't claim too much about the camera because sadly that's something common in maaany games, even great games.

JaneAusten69
I actually thought Sly 2 was the best, though not by much. The Sly games are pretty average in general in my opinion. I have to say that I found Sly 3 to be super hard to finish. Not cause the game was challenging, but I just really lost interest early on in playing it. (Note: Just noticed my trophy card is Sly haha. Guess I'm more of a fan than I thought.) Edited September 12, 2014 by JaneAusten69
