Platinum still obtainable?

Pretty much what the title says. I know since GameSpy shut down a bunch of games (Including the first Borderlands) you can no longer play online. No big deal, right? It was always my understanding that that's why the LAN capability was in the game; so that when the servers were down you could play with your friends on the same internet connection.

Well, the boyfriend and I wanted to play the first one together but he discovered last night the LAN option isn't working either. So this is my question: Is the platinum still avalible and for two people who don't have very many of the trophies and how would my boyfriend and I go about obtaining it? Also, it's worth noting that I do have an older account that does have the viral trophy unlocked.

It's still possible to obtain this platinium online even though the servers are down. I recently plat'd Operation Flashpoint Dragon Rising with

a co-op partner using the internet. The plat is only possible in a LAN game as servers has been down for quite a while.

It can be done using a LAN emulator program called Xlink Kai or XBSlink. Refer to the links below.

How to configure ps3

To check if you configured Xlink Kai correctly refer to the following post (refer to PureM4rc_PS's post on the first page)

Hope this helps and good luck.

Sooooo.... What happens if none of your friends on your PSN account have this trophy? Or if they DO have this trophy, they live thousands of miles away and well in that instance the LAN option doesn't sound feasible?

I don't have this trophy and this is the only trophy that's going to stop me from getting platinum on this game.

If you don't have anyone close by that you can set up a LAN with, I'm sorry but you won't be getting this trophy or plat Edited by black__bunny

I'm sorry to say, but that's no true. The plat is obtainable and geographical location is irrelevant.

The plat is obtainable via the use of LAN emulators that allows you to play with anyone anywhere in the world via an internet connection. Please refer to my post above dated the 23rd of November 2014 for more information.

Hope it helps

So after I set up the emulator I basically just have to log in and get into the online game lobby?

Yes, you log into Kai and create your lobby in Kai. Then your partner join your lobby in Kai. Provided that Kai is working properly, you'll be able to join the lobby in game via the Borderlands menu and be able to play a LAN game.
