Beyondthegrave07
I've always thought about getting this game and trying out the series after I put 200 hours in fire emblem awakening and cannot stop. But before I sink my teeth into these games, I have a few questions about the series in general. 1. What's your favorite part of the game series and what makes it unique? (I know, kind of a loaded question) 2. When your characters die, do they die forever, are there any penalties for dying? 3. On a scale of 1-10 how hard are these games? I want a challenging SRPG that makes you think before you move, but I don't want anything that's so easy it becomes a chore to play or a game that make me throw controllers. 4. How's the replay value for these games? (I heard it's a lot, but will I get bored?) Edited September 23, 2014 by Beyondthegrave07
CasaDeBen
The world itself is unique and i still find the first game to be my favourite so you can pick it up for like $10 on psn. Characters dont die forever you just revive them between levels and spend money. It can become challenging and theres the geopanels to learn and master but its not like fire emblem with perma death Theres replay value for sure but it also depends on how you tackle it

That also makes me wonder... do you need to manage your money wisely in the series? Also are levels replayable? Or do you just jump from one level to the next? Popular Post Wdjat Prinny Doods
1. I love the mechanics and complexity of the Disgaea games. I also love the story, characters, the quirkiness, the humor, and the various references that all the Disgaea games makes. Last but certainly not least I like it for the prinnies because prinnies are the greatest creatures ever created dood! 2. No characters aren't permanently dead when they die but there is no way to revive characters during a battle. If all your characters die in battle then it is game over and you have to load your last save (lone exception is Disgaea D2, if you lose a battle on that game you are sent back to the base dood) 3.For someone who isn't familiar with the mechanics and Disgaea in general I would say it is a 6 or 7 on the difficulty scale. You do really have to think and plan your attack in battles. You also have to look out for things in battle like geo panels which have certain effects when standing on them and they can be beneficial or harmful to you. You also have to consider an enemies evility which are basically abilities or perks an enemy has dood. 4. Loads of replay value dood. There is the item world where you can level up and increase stats of items by clearing floors within items. That alone can keep you busy and entertained for hours. There are also a good bit post game maps and different endings to experience in the games dood Do you spend money to revive them? That also makes me wonder... do you need to manage your money wisely in the series? Also are levels replayable? Or do you just jump from one level to the next? Yeah you have to use money to revive characters at the nurse but reviving characters isn't really expensive but you can only revive them at the base or every 10th floor in the item world Well levels are replayable in a sense. When go back into a map that you cleared it is usually different than how it was the 1st time you cleared it but you can replay maps as much as you like. After beating a map you have the option to go to the next map, a previous map, or back to base. Going back to base after beating map is best so you can save dood Edited September 23, 2014 by Wdjat Prinny Doods

PREDRAG-K
Well, this helped me too. I wanted to get into these games for awhile now, since I love SRPGs, but haven't played any in so long.
D-Tron
Thanks for the replies! Is there anything else I need to know? If you want the best weapons in the game, you need to tackle the Land of Carnage's item world. I would explain what the best weapons are and how to get them if it didn't require so much explanation.
