Popular Post MarsipanRumpan
Hello. First let me explain why I choose to review God of War 3. 4 Years after its release. Well. I haven't reviewd an game before, and I want to try write an review and see what you guys think. And the God of War series seems perfect to start with because I know basically everything about the game, and I wanted to pick something I knew well and had finished basically all the content in. Im from Sweden so my English isn't perfect. But I'll try my best. May come alot of Commas to! So PLEASE. Read my entire review of this great game. Just so you can give me your opinions! I would appreciate it a bunch Before I start, I just wanted to ad, this is the SECOND time I write the same review. When I was at the LAST SENTENCE of this review I screwed up and deleted the whole thing.. Well here we go again! I will use the term GoW often. It stands for God of War. Story: If you don't know what God of War is about. Well God of War is about an mortal, Kratos. He rode the spartan armies into battle. And one day they were about to loose, and Kratos had death in front of him, in just a few seconds. In despiration Kratos called Ares for his powers. Ares accepted and slayed the barbarians and gave Kratos the Blades of Chaos as a sign of his servitude. Kratos did tasks and was very loyal to Ares, however one day ares tricked Kratos to slay his own family (Wife and daughter), I also want to point out that the village oracle cursed Kratos, forcing him to wear the ashes of his dead family forever. If you want to find out the rest of the story you will have to play GoW 1 and 2. Well over to Gow3 story. GoW3 follows the events of GoW2. You start the game on Gaia's back, climbing up the Mount Olympus. Home of the gods. You're on your last mission, your last vengence. You're on your way to slay all the gods that betrayed you in the previous games, to achive your vengence. That is basically the story in GoW3, you're on an mission to slay all the gods, Zeus, Hades, Poseidon, Hermes, and Helios. I won't say more than that because I don't want to spoil anything. Visual and Audio: The visual aspect of the previous God of War has been great. GoW 1 & 2 was two of the most beautiful games of the generation. God of War 3 didn't fail that trend. I can go as far saying that GoW3 is one of the most beautiful game talking visually. At least for the last generation. When I play GoW3 today I think it is more beautiful then 70% of the games I have on my PS4. No kidding. Here is a picture of the opening level. You know what the coolest part is? It's live gameplay, I mean it isn't even an cutscene. For me this is impressing. You are on an moving platform, you have an giant boss, and everything looks perfect. The only problem I've had with God of War visually, is that some areas in the game is kind of dull, a bit boring. But they are minor, and it isn't a problem at all! And when I say some areas I don't compare them to this excellent fight or the last boss battle. The character models in this game is SICK. They look so good, especially Kratos. That leads me to animations. How is the animations in this game, are they good or bad. They are good. I had an problem in Ascension I thought the jumping looked really awkward. That I don't have an problem with in GoW3, the animations look good, they don't look awkward at all. The humans / gods looks like an human should look like. Also monsters move like you'd excpect monsters to move. It's freaking cool! The audio in this game is so good. Everytime Kratos swings his Blades of Exile at an enemy, or uses his Gauntlets to break Onyx, or everytime you rip an enemies head of. Everything sounds so real. The Blades of Exile sounds like a real Chain being thrown. When you hit an enemy it sound like you're hitting an enemy. The voice acting is great. But TC Carson (Kratos) performence is above great. His voice acting fits perfecly with the Ghost of Sparta. Great job TC Carson! I often find myself having an problem with lip syncing, and this game has not an problem with lip sync. It looks like they are saying the words! And lastley, the music. I wanted to save music to the end. The music is.. Awesome. The best part with GoW's music is that it is so incredible fitting, all the time. When you're fighting hordes of enemies and the music just sounds epic, battle like. It just makes you want to fight the hordes of enemies. It is beautiful.. In an epic way. The music fits the Greek mythology perfect. When you fight the music screams fight. When you talk with someone the music whispers a slower toon. It's great. God of War is simply one of those game that you need to stop play, and watch the enviorments and listen to the epic music from time to time. Performence: This will be a very short topic. I never had even a little bit of lag. Wich is god damn impressive seeing how big the levels are and how big the bosses are and the amount of things happening at the same time. GoW3 is 720P and it is 60FPS (Frames per sec) but in some areas it is 30FPS. Yet I didn't see, even one time, any different at all in gameplay. But im kind of terrible at seeing fps, because I can't tell any difference at 30 and 60 FPS games haha. But I do however notice lag. And I didn't have any lag at all. Impressve God of War. Impressive. Gameplay: God of War is an very Combo Based Combat game. You get combos when you hit enemies with your Blades of Exile, or your other three weapons you achive throughout the game. In God of War 3 you also get magical abilities as you did in the previous games. But in God of War 3 they (Santa Monica) revamped the Magical system. Now they are each tied to an weapon instead of just choosing them on the go, you instead fight with an weapon and its uniqe magic tied to it. They also put in an ranged grab. With the ranged grab you throw your blades at an enemy far away and grab him. This is useful because you can grab harpys and fly for a bit, thus completing some areas or reach some collectibles. You can also hand grab nearby enemies and use the enemy as an battering ram. Wich is freaking cool. You basically use the enemy as an Battering ram and run through hordes of other enemies! The camera in GoW3 is great to. You can't decide manually where the Camera shall 'aim'. But that doesn't matter, because they show you what you want to, and they show every beautiful level to! I never once felt like 'Oh this camera sucks' or something like that.. Throughout the game you collect different chests to. Green (Life), Blue (Magic), Red (Experience), and collectibles. Oh and the red chests you use to upgrade your weapons for example. It isn't complicated at all, you just use orbs to upgrade weapons and magic. There is alot of Quicktime events. In my opinion it is great in this universe. You never feel bored of using them and if you don't want to you don't need to (In most of the cases) you can just punch them to dead instead. When killing an boss with quicktime it feels like you actually did it, you feel thrilled and pumped to do it. And that is amazing because in Far Cry 3 I felt pissed and it felt cheap when I killed of an boss with Quicktime. But in the end you will have to decide for yourself if you enjoy quicktime or not! GoW3 have Puzzle elements to. Wich ads more to the game, the puzzles are absolutley doable, some may get you thinking for awhile, or some may even get you mad. But they are pretty basic. I found GoW3 to have the easiest puzzles of all the games. God of War isn't open world. God of War is an rather linear and repetetive game, but never once playing the game, I had the thought of ''Damn this is getting boring and repetetive''. That is God of War. The linear worlds is so massive and you're always busy killing of hordes with enemies or finishing puzzles you never once will come to the feeling of getting bored. Even in my I belive sixth playthrough of GoW3 I didn't feel that it was boring ripping peoples bodies apart. Or listening to Kratos screaming. Combat: I felt like the combat needed to be an own topic. Because combat is important in God of War. Have you ever heard about ''Square Square Triangle'' well it comes from God of War. And you will use it ALOT. It is basically the main combo you use. But don't worry. There are MANY combos. There are alot of different combos and button combinations. And don't forget that there are four weapons too. Every weapon have each an uniqe combo set. You can also start an combo with Weapon 1 and switch weapon in middle of the combo an continue the combo with different weapons. You also have an counter move, thanks to an relic (Golden Fleece) you achived in GoW2. The combat is great. Sometime maybe you get bored of the Blades of Exile so you switch weapon. I didn't really feel bored because I had 4 uniqe and different weapons to choose from. Other Gamemodes (Content): I just want to ad God of War has almost no DLC wich is great in my opinion. I kind of.. Hate dlc.. However, the GoW3 DLC is mainly skins. But there is an Arena of Exile to. Wich is 7 Challenges I belive, and they are hard, in fact harder than Challenge of Olympus wich we soon will talk about. But the DLC is only for fun, no trophy, no new costume, no nothing, only for fun! Okay content in God of War 3 has an great Story wich we have been talking about. GoW3 also has an Challenge of Olympus available just like the previous games. These challenges can mage you want to throw your controller out of the window. No doubt. But they are definatelly doable. It may take time, maybe two hours. But no sweat. Challenge of Olympus is a fun extra mode in my opinion. Other then the story and the Challenge of Olympus. There isn't actually any more gamemodes. No multiplayer no nothing. But that's God of War in all of its glory. God of War just doesn't need anything else. Because God of War is such a great, addictive and fun game, with loads of replay ability. You can collect all all collectibles, collect all costumes, and complete every difficulty of the game, it has enough replay ability to keep you intrested in the game. If not it has one of the best story's out there in gaming history, and that will drag you back to this masterpiece. Trophy Review: As a fellow trophy hunter and have every God of War platinum there is (Excluding Ghost of Sparta and Chain of Olympus wich I will start today in fact..) I feel like I need to review the trophies. The trophies in GoW3 is the hardest in the whole GoW series in my opinion. After completing the story once without collectibles you've maybe achived 50 - 60%, with collectibles maybe up to 80% actually. And with titan difficulty on you actually reach 90% I belive. The hardest part of this game is these three trophies: aMAZEd, Up to the Challenge, and Unhuman. I completed the aMAZEd trophy on my first try but I have seen people that had ALOT of trouble. My tips is play on easier difficulty if you have any sort of problem and if you die restart the game from save file not checkpoint! Up To the Challenge is easy. But you need to know its hard. But its easy.. Yeah.... Heres how it goes, It is hard and as I stated before you may get the feeling from wanting to break the controller. I recommend you to search up an strategy for this, and you should be able to make it in no time! The real hard part here is Unhuman. Titan mode can be a real pain in the.. I personally had no problam at all with Titan because Im kind of experienced, seeing how I've completed every GoW's titan. I think that GoW3 Titan is the hardest though. No doubt! You should appreciate it wasn't Chaos, that would've been a real pain... I think the platinum difficulty will depend on how experienced you are. For me this platinum was an 3/10, but for a newcomer I belive it would be an 4.5/10 maybe even 5/10. But it's absolutely doable! FINAL VERDICT: God of War 3 is perfect in every way. It is my all time favourite beating my other classics like Spyro the Dragon, or the awesome Far Cry 3. God of War 3 simply was the best game ever, for me. If you like Hack n' Slash / Action Adventure with Puzzle elemnts in it. Play GoW3! Wich you probaly have, seeing how GoW3 sold 5 million copies lol. But I hope I made you want to replay or take the platinum that you haven't got yet! 10/10 Simply AMAZING. I love this game! You NEED to buy this game, the entire series for that matter! Awesometacular, with an badass seal of approval, and if you want more reviews like this subscribe to IGN or whatever you're supposed to say at the end of these things Thank you of you read all this text all the way down here. Please give me some advices and tell me what you think! Now God of War Ghost of Sparta and Chain of Olympus is downloaded so I will go and start play now, bye! Dragon-Archon
It's a decent review, with some interesting additional information. No offense, but your mastery of the English language should be a little better if you're going to write reviews (and yes, I know you said it in the review). Work on that and the quality of the review will go up a lot. Edited October 26, 2014 by Dragon-Archon

Funny thing is i was going to start God of War II today so by reading this review i now know what to look forward to when i start GoW3
GoldenShaka
Very good review. I hope you like Ghost of Sparta and Chain of Olympus. I found both of them very entertaining, short but with good stories and great boss fights. The only letdown i found (but understandable) was that ghost of sparta which certainly feels as a psp game (the dimension of the screen) you feel confined in small areas; in the other hand Chain of Olympus is really cool with a nice widescreen. Enjoy them
Lovejinder_LJ
If it matters coming from a guy who platinumed all 6 God of War games, that was a pretty good review. (The language could use some polishing like u as well as others have already said) Great review Good Luck for the future
