Popular Post kidhero99
Far Cry 4's director has announced anyone complaining the PC version of the game doesn't contain field of view (FOV) options are in fact revealing they pirated the game Taking to Twitter, Alex Hutchinson explained that as legitimate copies of the game will connect to the internet and receive the feature via Day One patch, those complaining that no such feature is present are outing themselves as having illegal copies. I actually love it when pubs do this type of thing. It keeps players honest and exposes them without being complete jerks about it. If you wanna play the game without dropping the $60, just get a Gamefly sub like I do. http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/11/19/far-cry-4-users-accidentally-reveal-they-pirated-the-game Edited November 19, 2014 by kidhero99
Popular Post Saltyie
It's one level of douche-ness to pirate a game these devs spent 2+ years developing, but it's a whole new level to then bitch about your illegal copy on forums. How entitled do you have to be.

30 Year Old Boomer
Why would people pirate this great game? If you can't afford it, go rent it by Gamefly or Redbox geez... It sucks that a great game gets pirated. Edited May 7, 2016 by DanteHellMode98

Ryumoau
i love it when publishers troll pirates like this. I have no respect at all for people who steal games. If you don't wanna spend $60, wait for a sell or use rental services like Gamefly/Redbox. I use gamefly all the time.

It's worse when I see morons on Facebook, etc posting screenshots of themselves downloading an the game on Utorrent while bragging about it as if they've accomplished something noteworthy. They're only proving that they're pretty much a bunch of thieving assholes. Edited November 19, 2014 by kidhero99

Look, I'm not going to defend pirating a game -- nor am I going to defend people bitching about pirated copies -- but in this day and age there's virtually no way to try games out before you buy them if you play on PC, and given Ubisoft's distrastrous handling of Assassin's Creed: Unity, I'd definitely be on the fence about giving Ubisoft money for a PC game too. I'm sure a few of these people are genuinely interested in buying Far Cry 4, but they wanted to make sure 1) it was optimized well and 2) wasn't buggy as all hell. That is where the internet comes into play. There are plenty of PC only reviewers on YouTube so for those who are genuinely concerned about the PC version there is plenty of information out there. There is absolutely no reason for someone to pirate a game, if you can't afford it, save up. If you don't want to support the company, don't play the game. Personally, it disgusts me to see people try to justify why they pirate games (which thankfully isn't something I see on this site), especially when they try to act like victims of the big bad publishers because they are on PC. I'm sure that works for some people, but I'd rather be able to try it for myself, especially given all the different variables that come into play on PC.

D-Tron
Publishers should do this waaaay more often They have in the past. One of the best uses of this was an iPhone game for Deus Ex.If you had a pirated version of the game, you couldn't fire your weapon!
Dreakon13
Trusting in reviews is worse than playing a pirate game. PC reviewers are pretty damn cynical when it comes to the ports they get. If you still want a game after watching/reading one of their scathing reviews (or know enough about your PC or PC gaming in general to catch their horribly overblown points)... the game really has nowhere to go but up in terms of what you think about it. It's one level of douche-ness to pirate a game these devs spent 2+ years developing, but it's a whole new level to then bitch about your illegal copy on forums. How entitled do you have to be. This. This all day long. Not to make baseless generalizations... but in my several years as a Steam patron, your average PC gamer is the definition of entitled. Popular Post Parker
So i take it you have never illegaly downloaded a song, movie or tv show then ? When I was much younger, before I even understood what pirating and illegally downloading things was, yeah, I downloaded a few songs. Everything I downloaded I already owned (or my parents or grandparents did, at least) but ignorance doesn't make what I did right. Thankfully I grew up and realized what I was doing was wrong and I haven't done it since. The last time I recall downloading something illegally was with either LimeWire or Kazah (or something like that) so it has been a really long time. If I can't afford a movie or television show, I don't watch it. The only time I would consider downloading a torrent okay is if it is something like a bootleg performance where there is absolutely no way to purchase it and support a band or if you already own whatever torrent you're downloading. Though if you already own it I am not sure why you'd need to torrent it. Trusting in reviews is worse than playing a pirate game. No, no it isn't. Watching gameplay and taking someones opinion into account certainly is not worse than stealing. Parker

Suicide_Tortuga
Stuff like this will always happen, so let it be. Why should you care they are not stealing or taking your money by pirating a game.
Lady Blanc
As others have posted, more developers should do similar tactics to fight piracy. I think Rocksteady did something with Batman: Arkham Asylum to deter piracy, if I recall it was simply disabling the glide feature, which essentially made the game impossible to complete.
