You need to catch 2000 fish for one of the trophies.

 

There are several things that can make it easier and faster for you to catch fish

• Raining, catch fish faster.
  
• Better fishing pole, easier and possibly faster. Obtain a better pole by forging.
  
• Fish Hat, makes it a lot easier to fish. Obtained the first day in Fall under the Masquerade festival. Talk to Electra, whom will ask you to deliver candy to the kids, talk to her afterwards for a reward. I at least got the Fish Hat for doing so.
  
• School of fish, while walking around in the ocean on your Golem there are certain places where there's a lot more fish.
  
• Fishing level, the more you fish the easier it gets, I also think it allows you to catch some rather rare fish as well.
  
• Possibly time of day (especially early in the morning) and season.
  

 

How to fish quickly

1. Equip upgraded fishing pole and Fish Hat near water when it's raining.
   
2. Hold down  .
   
3. Press   to fish.
   
4. Whenever the controller starts shaking (a fish on the hook) quickly press  . If the shaking happens immediately after using the fishing pole it might mean you are getting low on RP.
   
5. When you hear the sound of the fish being put into your backpack press   again. (You may want to turn down the music and up the SFX).
   
6. Continue from point 4.
   
7. The above tells you how to fish quickly without even watching the screen, meaning you could be reading or doing something entirely different once the above has become automatic for your brain to do.
   

 

 

There is a fishing contest the 19th day of Spring, where you can win prizes for your fishing, so it doesn't feel as boring or pointless. There is also a lot of food you can cook using the fish you catch. It can also be sold for money.

Yes, it has fishing, and you got to catch 2000 fish.

 

It's a bit grindy with it's amount of fish you gotta catch, and the 1500 items you need to craft, and 5000 enemies you got to defeat, and the cold you gotta catch 100 times, and let's not forget you need to get a lot of the inhabitants of the town to really like you. Those things are not difficult though, especially seeing as it has a broken money system. The hardest thing in the game is to beat the colloseum a second time, which I will post a guide on later.

 

Don't get me wrong though, I really liked the game. You come to this town from a distant time and you get to move in to a room in the town. From here you must explore the town and get to know people. The getting to know people factor is very important, and you kind of grow a relationship with people where they open up more and more with you the better the relationship gets, which it does over time, conversation and gifts etc. Lots of cool events and things that happen as you do this. The town has like a 4 month cycle, one for each season, x amount of days in each month etc. There's also a timer on each day, and you need to sleep. It's like the NPCs in the town has their own life, and does different things each day, like having to work or skips it etc, though the same each year, but you can affect it. There's also various events like competitions or special other stuff on various days etc. Aside from the towns-life, you can also explore a massive world map out in the ocean with many different dungeons. The battle system is real time, a bit like Kingdom Hearts. You can catch enemy monsters and have them on your team or make them work on the island farms you find. So yeah, there's a farming and mining part of this game too.

That's the beauty of Japanese games, they can put everything into one little beautiful game =D
