Games that DON'T make you want to bash your head into a wall...

Pretty much every game I own has given me a completely valid reason to unleash my fury on the poor coffee table that sits in-between me and the TV screen. Yeah, even LittleBigPlanet on my other account (some of those levels are very unreasonable to ace).

Now, don't get me wrong. I'm not necessarily looking for easy (though it may come with the territory)... but the only game I have that fits the mold of "games that DON'T make you want to bash your head into a wall" is Heavy Rain. It's a beautiful thing really. A well-crafted game, unique so much that it's fun to play through multiple times despite not really creating opposition for the gamer. The game is one big QTE, though it's not particularly difficult or anything. It's just fun to play, not only really fun when you're "winning".

Any other games you can think of that strive for what I'm describing?

Nothing on the PS3, to be perfectly honest, even Heavy Rain had its moments when I couldn't solve a puzzle.

However, if we expand out to other platforms, I'd pick Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire, as they had a sublime difficulty curve that meant you never really had to grind, and if you picked types and moves well you could power through the game and feel like a boss doing so.

Flower is an extremely relaxing game and I don't believe I've ever had a moment of frustration when playing it. In fact, when my Son refuses to sleep, my wife puts the Flower soundtrack on and he's asleep within a few minutes.

Being a huge racing fan, Gran Turismo would also be a game I've never been frustrated with. The Singleplayer could be challenging depending on which car you chose to use (I use underpowered cars, to have close races with the A.I.) but the online is where the game really shines. Racing in an organized league is one of the absolute best experiences I've had playing a video game, bar none. GT5 really needs a wheel, pedals and a shifter to get the most out of it though.

For other platforms, Harvest Moon would get my vote. I love absolutely everything about that series (except Rune Factory, but I think that is trying to get away form the HM name) and I've never been angry when playing it. Same goes for Pokemon, although the wife makes fun of me when she sees me playing either game...

Well, Transformers Dark of the moon was a breeze. If i wanted to, i could've platinumed that in a day. And War for Cybertron was a bit longer, but shorter overall due to the 5x XP for life implimened. That was big help seeing as it would've taken you aa good 50-75 Matches per class to fully max a character out. Now its probably 20-30 matches.

the only games in My line up that I can think of are GoW3 and DS:Extraction. even Uncharted had Me @ one point of total WTF. those 2 though, I basically breeze through.

Really? The first time I tried that game on Titan, I spent a few hours on the very first boss... which happens to pop up within a few seconds of turning the game on.

I'd consider that game an ultimate head basher lol.

I Understand The Frustration Completely, I Swear To God I've Wanted To Break My Remote/TV/Console NUMEROUS Times :o

The Games That Haven't Brought Me To That Point ...

Okami - Not A Tough Or Frustrating Game At All.

Bayonetta - Tough, But Very Fun And Beautiful.

Tales Of Graces F - The Difficulty Changing Allowed Me To Lower My Frustration :P:P

That Was Just To Name A Few Off The Top Of My Head.

.

I have to admit, I raged over the ball pushing challenges (specifically getting the beehive up the hill to sleepy bear) I know it's not a compulsory element of the game but I wanted the praise!

One none frustrating game I can think of is The Walking Dead

..um..every game I have played?

I've never wanted to bash my head into a wall over a game.. or anything for that matter.

I've played a few hard games but never got frustrated that much with them.

Anyways, easiest/relaxing games I played:

  • Jak and Daxter
  • Final Fantasy XIII-2
  • Bayonetta
  • Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction.. this one was almost too easy though.
  • Virtual ON (not PS3)

I might get stuck in a place sometimes, and get a little frustrated, but only a handful of games make me mad enough to scream at the screen and scare the crap out of my neighbors.  The partner AI in RE5 has made me punch the wall more than once, and GTA IV stupid checkpoint-less trial-and-error mission design has made me scream more obscenities than I had have in my entire life up to that point, so in general I get mad at games like those, games that "cheat".

By this I mean games in which you get penalized for something that wasn't your fault, being because the characters you were escorting throw themselves in front of your gun while you're shooting at the enemy, or because you did exactly what the objective on screen tells you to do but you didn't do it the way the game intended it, so it doesn't count, or because characters you've spent ten minutes pummeling with everything you have and drained them of all their energy come back to their feet and knock you down in a cutscene (I really hate that).

You can tell how much I like a game by what I scream when I lose.  When I'm mad at the game I'll scream things like "You stupid a**hat!  Don't move in front of my damn gun!" or "This is bulls**t!  I did exactly what I was told!" or "Oh, that's just cheating, you cheating f**k!".  In contrast, when I lose because it's my fault and not the game's, I'll tend to say things like "Oh, I'm an IDIOT!" or "Argh!  I didn't see that!" or "I deserve it, that was stupid!".

So, I think listing the games that don't make me want to rip my hair out should be too long, but I'll mention a few: Okami, The Unfinished Swan, The Walking Dead, and a honorable mention to Hitman: Absolution, for which every time I lost only strengthened my resolve instead of making me ragequit.  Except for one time that I was nearly finishing a level flawlessly and the console crashed, which made me rage quite a bit, but that wasn't the game's fault, so it doesn't count.

I curse like a mad man during every single game I play.

Insane difficulties, terrible cameras, repetitive storylines, repetitive characters, lies in the media, rediculous prices, system/game freezes etc.

I think we've evolved to the point where I think it's about time we expect more for what we're paying.

If I pay $600 for a machine and it freezes almost every single day for a year straight, I should be allowed to get my money back and kick Sony's CEO right in the balls.

If I pay $69.99 for a game and $29.99 for the DLC, the camera shouldn't have a mind of it's own and I shouldn't get stuck in walls.

I could go on and on but, I might end up smashing my head against a wall in frustration.

i think games like flower or journey will calm you down though i never played any games made by ( that game company ) yet.

or try Kirby epic yarn :P if you have a Wii though

you can't die in that game and it's so family friendly, it's like the watered down littlebigplanet game.

i don't added jak and daxter to the list unless if you meant easy platinum, i remember in the ps2 era it really made me took a bite of my T-shirt due to the share of frustration   especially on the flying zoomer parts / the boss fight in rock valley and the whole snowy mountain area, not to mention daxter will tells jokes on you every time you die and there's no skip button for it.

when i bought the HD version and plat it my brother who's never played the game before on ps2 have played it on his account and he was about to destroy our room by frustration and he leaves it when he reach snowy mountain, now i plated the game for him.
